Went in here today to sample their wines and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the wine, the large selection, and the outstanding service. We sampled a flight of three wines for $5. We chose their new Sparkling Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Rose. The Sparkling was so nice and smooth, I could have drank the whole bottle right there. We bought a bottle for home at only $25. The Cab was also really good. Their two story showroom/bar is made of stained wood and looks amazing. Lots of space here and lots of bottles on display. There's a place upstairs that they use for tastings. The staff member, Monica, was so friendly and welcoming to us. She described the wine making process and how the blends work in detail; she really knows her stuff! What a great experience, and we look forward to coming back to sample more and have a meal at their restaurant. read more

This is probably our favourite winery along the Beamsville wine route. We always stop here first because the property is so beautiful, the tasting room is lovely, cozy and big. They have a great selection of wine and cheese. They also have a restaurant on the premises and the food is fantastic there! We had a family gathering at the restaurant and they gave us this large private room with windows overlooking the estate, the service was attentive and kind. Everyone really enjoyed them food but I must say for the meat eaters, I have never seen people rave about a Burger as much as my dad and brother in law did that day! If you are stopping in for a tasting as I would for any Ontario wine, I suggest staying in the realm of whites or ice wine. We tend not to do reds very well! read more

Walking into the space was a total experience. Rich, rustic decor that makes you think something special is going to happen. The wines were all really good (the Cab was amazing). We got a really exceptional charcuterie board to pair with the wines. Helpful advice on the wines and the area from the person behind the bar. One of my favourite wineries. This place is hidden just off the path of Grimsby. I love how it's away from the tourism of Niagara Falls. I've been here several times, where it's always calm and just enough customers to move around. On clear days you can see Toronto, as it overlooks the lake. My review is based on our experience today - Mother's day. I had my heart set on the patio but Mother Nature was not on our side today. We sat inside today and had a lovely time. Our waitress was lovely, we never felt rushed and the food was amazing! I had the chicken and waffles that came with a maple cream sauce. AMAZING! If you come here in the summer I would highly recommend the patio. It's always nice (you have the option of sun or shade). Prices are reasonable and the wine list is not overpriced. As a medium-sized winery in the Niagara Region I feel that Peninsula Ridge has it all, and it stands as 1 of my top 3 thus far that I've visited in Niagara Region. I had the chance of visiting twice this summer, once for a wedding, and once with family. I guess what I like about this particular winery is that it doesn't have that factory approach feel like some of the larger ones in Niagara-on-the-Lake when you visit, it has that small winery feel, despite it being larger then many in the Beamsville area. The winery also has a great visitor center with ample space for seating, and also has a restaurant on site (I haven't visited that yet). Overall this is 1 I enjoyed visiting and can see myself visiting over many summers to come now. read more

Went to PR tonight for my birthday dinner. We were one of two couples dining on a Wednesday evening. We ordered the burrata cheese and scallops for appetizer. The burrata was pleasant. The scallops had no flavor and the pork belly garnish was grey in colour. For entrees we ordered medium rare rack of lamb and beef tenderloin. Both of which are priced well over $50 per plate. Complete disappointment. Their website boasts a new culinary team. PR, you might want to rethink your team. Both meats were over cooked. Lacked seasoning and served with bland fingerling potatoes and bok Choy. I don't understand the reason for the seasonal vegetable choice. These were the most lack lustre potatoes I have ever ate. They were kind enough to comp the bottle of wine, thank you. But we definitely wouldn't recommend or return. Worst meal we ever ate and still paid over $200. Completely disappointed read more

Our server was rather pleasant. She even labeled our classes so We would not get them mixed up in transporting them outside. We came for a brief sampling but we were persuaded to take our wine glasses out to the patio and enjoy the beautiful surroundings while we sat and relaxed - enjoying a picturesque view of the vineyards. A tasting flight of 3 goes for five dollars and the pours were generous. Ice wines are two dollars for a sampling. Relax and enjoy the scenery! read more

Wines are quite good, as is their cheese selection. The big problem for us during our visit was customer service. Initially, they refused to serve us a cheese plate during our visit because apparently they stop serving cheese an hour before they close (we arrived 45 minutes before closing). Then they told another party that they could order cheese to go, and I was annoyed that they had not offered the same to us. While my friend and I were tasting, one of the wines tasted a lot like peaches, so we started singing "Peaches" by POTUSA. Then the person who was waiting on us started asking us questions about how many wineries we had been to that day. I know Canadians tend to be reserved and since she was so much younger, she didn't know the song, but ladies' day at a winery? I was with my best friend of 20 years. This would actually be normal behaviour for us pre-alcohol. So that was rather rude. They did end up making us a cheese plate to-go. We appreciated this, but it was rather nonsensical because then they had to take time assembling it when we could have already finished eating it. Plus, if you are concerned about your patrons having had too much wine, give them something to soak it up with. We didn't purchase any wine out of protest, which is actually unfortunate. It is also unfortunate that I remember the experience vividly enough to type this review. Good wine. Good cheese. Terrible customer service experience. read more

It was a rather overcast day and the drive on the QEW was hectic. We reserved the patio and that's where we sat. A beautiful view of the Vinelands but less than perfect weather. We started our lunch with the hot soup of spinach, leek and potato. The soup was over liquified, lacking in taste and texture and not particularly hot. Out hamburger made up in texture, but not in taste. Each hamburger bite consisted of hard bits of ground up bone. I arranged these on the rim of my plate to show the waitress and save the teeth of future diners. "It's a new butcher, our own chef has no time to grind our hamburger meat." It was tasteless too and requires loads of salt and pepper. With that, our waitress promptly refunded the burgers and replaced them with delicious hand made chocolate truffles and ice wine! This place is a massive estate with lovely wines. The staff is so knowledgeable. We tried the whites, reds and ice wine. In the end. we bought some of the ice wine. Its so good in this region. BTW they owe a few other wineries. I think its a must stop in while here. So many are good, but this one has the whole package. read more

Peninsula ridge is located in west side of Niagara wine country. Has beautiful red brick house and old barn style tasting room. I liked nice tasting room and friendly staffs. They have decent various wine, 2010 reserved Syrah and unoaked Chardonnay were my favorite. read more

Will be back here over and over again. Absolutely stunning with the log cabin feel, and the rolling vineyards in the background. Flights of 4 for $2 and ice wine tasting for $2! can't beat that price I always end up leaving with bottles of ice wines and they always ease up on the price of the reasons as a result. I've had awesome icewines, good icewines, and okay icewines. But I've never had a bad icewine, until today. First stop on my quest for the perfect icewine, I stop by Peninsula Ridge. Three icewines were available for tasting: Vidal, Riesling, and Cabernet Franc. This stuff tasted like someone made it in the back room mixing sugar, syrup, and water. None of the rich fruity flavors, or the balanced acidity. It is flat sugar water crap. The woman next to me was gushing about how great the cab franc was. She also asked what icewine was. Being a wine snob, I was scoffing at her ignorance, thinking, "yeah, they made this sh*t so people like you would buy this crap." For those who don't know what icewine is, save the hate. But even if you didn't know, if you had any taste buds at all, you would probably agree with me. I don't need to pay $40 for a bottle of icewine for something that I could've probably made at home by freezing a bunch of grapes in my freezer. This was so bad--that I couldn't even finish my 1-oz samples which cost $2 each. read more

The restaurant is one of the best I have been to in the region (especially the delicious warm goat's cheese appetizer). Their customer service is also amazing...one of the winery employees actually drove me to a nearby gas station when I had car trouble. read more

Peninsula ridge has a beautiful building in a great location. They are close enough to Hamilton that you could make it to their restaurant (opens in may) for lunch from Burlington. They carry a wide selection of good wine and have a truly excellent cheese cabinet. The staff know their wine and are a pleasure to deal with. If you want something sweet, I would skip their ice wine and grab their white port instead. read more

We were just looking for a place to eat dinner and another winery suggested the restaurant at this winery. All I can say is this place was amazing. The menu had just enough choices to not be overwhelming and both dinners were absolutely perfectly prepared and presented. We know food and without question this chef knows what he/she is doing. If you are looking for a plate with a tablespoon of artsy in the middle of it then this is not your place. The portions, while not excessive, will more than satisfy. Normally we skip (or share one) dessert. After such an excellent meal we just had to try a couple desserts. They did not disappoint. As for value the menu is not expensive and certainly worth the price. The service was cheery. We will certainly be back. This meal was actually one of the best experiences in my 5+ decades of dining and we've dined in many places triple the price. I should mention also the wine was quite good as well. read more
