We had read about this winery prior to being on vacation in the area so we had made a reservation just to make sure we could stop in. Yesterday (Tuesday) was the day! What a great place! Edward and Anita, a husband and wife team, own and run the winery, which is located in the home they live in. Everything is set up so beautifully. After you park you easily find your way to the room in the back. We were greeted by both owners, given menus and information about the wine. We decided to sit at a picnic bench on the grounds and Ania found us to take our orders and answer any questions we had. I ordered a glass of wine and my boyfriend enjoyed a tasting. It was so peaceful and beautiful sitting there enjoying the wine, company and views! We wound up buying a few bottles to take home. We are so glad we made that reservation a few weeks ago. This is a very small place with one room to sample their different wines. Only $2 a sample, but they don't pour you that much wine; perhaps 1/6th of a glass. The Riesling I sampled wasn't that great to me. The Cabernet Sauvignon was much better. Bottles here are priced at $19 and up. read more

This place is not your typical winery, with high ceilings and uniformed staff in black, and an extensive wine bar. In fact, it's more like your grandparents decided to retire to Niagara and open up a winery that operates out of their dining room, literally. Organized Crime is a gem off the beaten track, and located right across Fielding Estate Winery, and so if you want, you can study the lofty upscaleness of Fielding buildings to it's poor country cousin, Organized Crime. But, let's talk wine, Organized Crime is worth checking out, because the owners are hilarious and they really care about their product. During our visit, we picked up their blended wine "The Download" and they promptly told us, if you gonna drink this, let it breathe for 3 hours and good with Red meat. (insert thumbs up) Even if you don't buy any wine from them, their selling act is worth experience. Which brings me to their wines, they are good, full stop, no question marks, no equivocation. It's kind of too bad that they aren't readily available at the LCBO, but as they aren't a large volume producer of wine, I guess you would called them boutique. Organized Crime Winery - Wineries Near Me - Beamsville, Ontario

My visit started with curiosity with the sign " organized crime winery". I felt like whole soprano mafia family will be there once I get in. Past Yelp review wasn't great so I walked in with no expectations what so ever. It's very small winery. There are no place you can call "tasting room". Actually they only have very small tasting bar to accommodate less than 5 people. One display closet for wine glasses, 2 closets for wines. When I walked in, it was packed. Some group walked in and went back out. 'The boss' went over the tasting menu. She was the real boss in that room. Actually she was funny but she has her own way to bring it up. She is very sarcastic in funny way. My husband and another guy started tasting reds and jumped to whites. 'The boss' didn't miss that. She jumped into the scene and gave them a comments which made everyone laugh. Their wines are bit pricey but delicious. They have good wines. 2009 The download is Bordeaux blend, has powerful finish. Pinot noir reserve was delicious as well as Break-in Pinot noir. I really loved their Gewürztraminer 2013. I hope you don't miss this tiny winery with 'The boss' if you visit this area. Torn on this one. Wines were delicious. Liked everyone we got. Tastings are $2 each and are waived if you buy two bottles. It was pretty busy when we got in but we were offered a tasting menu right away which was good. Tasting itself was just a poured glass. No explanation no tasting notes nothing. It was actually kind of awkward. Wine yummy, property beautiful, service pretty much non existent. If you just want some good wine worth a stop. read more

Lindsay, your experience was not unusual at all. My husband and I do 3-4 wine tours each year and included The Organized Crime in our most recent one. I had tried one of their LCBO wines and enjoyed it so we put them on our tour route. I have never had somebody give me lip like that in my life. A tasting room with about 12 people in it proved too much for Christina (the owner) to keep her $#!t together and she proceeded to yell at me for not paying attention to the story of the winery because, heaven forbid, I was picking up bottles to purchase. She also proceeded to tell the other visitors that she was superficial like me once. After that, she said she would remember me because my husband is good-looking and dismissed the significant purchase we made (most winery staff thank you for your purchases). We will never return to The Organized Crime, nor will I purchase anything from them again. The Niagara Region is full of great wineries with fantastic staff that make for memorable experiences. There are many wineries in Niagara region that make overpriced garbage(you know the wine that costs 3 times French table wine and tastes worse), some that make good stuff. We all bought wine from Niagara cause it's Canadian have to support local right? Organized crime makes the best reds in Niagara that I tried, it is not even close. This is really different level, it is as good as anything you can get anywhere in the world. When you pay $40 for a bottle you don't need to try and convince yourself that it is good, you love it and want to get more. Good wine, but $20 per person tasting is extravagant . Even if you buy $200 worth of wine the tasting is not waived. Hard to pay 40 dollars extra per couple when all other wineries are waiving testing if you buy wine. Use to buy $209- 250 in wine per visit but wont be back now. Good wine though. read more

This winery gets 5 stars purely for the wine. Some of the best Ontario reds I've ever had, they've perfected the blend giving depth, flavour and earthiness to their wines I haven't tasted elsewhere from this wine region. I'm always excited to see their wines on restaurant wine lists as they make such small batches you can't find it in your local LCBO. A boutique winery in the Beamsville part of Niagara (my favourite area) there isn't much to see here. No grandiose patio to sip wine - rather a small patio overlooking their land and a small tasting room off the owners' kitchen. What it may lack in presentation it more than makes up for in the wine. My current favourite and the one I purchased on this visit is the Pipedown - according to their website, here is the info: Bordeaux blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot and 20% Petit Verdot. Each of these grape portions were harvested and fermented separately, and then barreled down in November. Malolactic fermentation occurred naturally in barrel, and finished when the weather warmed in spring. After 11 months in barrel each individual barrel was tasted, and the final blend was decided upon. A MUST try on your visit to Niagara - you can easily fit it in since the selection is smaller to perfect the wines they do make. If you don't come away with at least one bottle, you didn't try enough! read more

Wine tasting is so much fun! If you are interested in learning more about wines, do try the smaller boutique wineries in the Beamsville and Vineland areas. They are closer drive from Toronto than Niagara Falls, and they offer such wonderful personalized service. Organized Crime is located a few minutes from the QEW. We popped in when one of the owners was around. He let us try an array of wines. I bought their Reisling-EXCELLENT. My friend got a bottle of red (my red wine knowledge is quite poor so lets just leave my description of his bottle as 'red' ;). The tasting room itself was adorable, with French touches in decoration. There is also a book chapter regarding the name of the winery. No it is not from an organized drama, but about a feud between two neighbouring Mennonite communities. Interested to learn more?-You will have to visit their lovely winery to read the story ;). My reisling was $17, I think the red was $35? Prices vary, but do know you are paying for quality wine! read more

Whether you like the wines or not (and I do!) Organized Crime makes for a good stop on your Beamsville wineries tour. There is no food served here, so this stop is strictly for wine tasting. The tasting room is small and eclectic, so it starts to get pretty crowded at 10 guests. They have some pretty good wines here, so you will have to work your way through the tasting menu carefully. At $45 The Download is pricey but an excellent local version of the classic Bordeaux blend. A less expensive but still very nice version of the Bordeaux blend is The Pipe Down (very nice with beef!). I also like their Gewurztraminer, done in a more old world style. Stop by sometime and pick your own favourites! read more

Yes, it's small. Yes, it's not going to be what you expect. And, yes, the owners are not the common sort. However, this is truly what I feel makes this little winery so great. Small batches. Great back story. Dry humor. And some excellent advice. Once my fellow wine sampler started to warm up to Christina, the room filled up with other wine devotees and the real show began. No pretense. No lies. No "Can you taste the light smoke and tobacco notes?". More, the sommelier is full of it, as I can't taste all of these things, more, this is not bad, but this wine is the really beautiful one. Hysterical. Personal. And quite the surprise. This was a horrible experience. I was here with a group of friends using a package deal (visit 4 wineries in the area). Once the owner Christina found out we were using the package she said that she was running out of wine glasses to give us samples, and we would have to share with each other! There were plenty of wine glasses behind the counter. How rude. She said she did not want to run out for the day- as if it were a chore to serve us. Her husband sat behind the bar and didn't say much. He could have been washing up the wine glasses!!! When a middle aged group came in they all got their own glasses for the sample. The owner was biased towards us as young people thinking that we did not have any money. Little did she know we were looking for a wine to serve at our wedding. Organized Crime needs to take a lesson from their neighbouring vineyards-Fieldings and Angels Gate. Both of these places were polite and GAVE US A NEW GLASS FOR EACH SAMPLE OF WINE! Don't you think when you are sampling wine the least you can do it provide each customer with their own glass? A smile and friendly service go a long way. It's amazing how attitude is such a small thing but makes such a huge difference. I will never be returning to Organized Crime again nor will I be purchasing their products. read more

This winery is everything I love about the Beamsville Bench - and so much more. Krystyna and her husband really know how to make good wine. It's all small batch and some of the most delicious we've had from the area. Standouts include the Rose the Download and their Pinot Noir. Also love the Gewertz - so delicious with summer salads. OC is my favourite vineyard in Ontario. There isn't one of their wines that I've tasted that I didn't like and I am picky. For those of you who reacted negatively to Christina...you just didn't get it. She is part of the experience...if you can open your mind to the experience you'll find she is open, helpful a d very customer centric once you show interest in her wine, their approach and not just tasting and moving on to the next spot. We visit evey year and order a ton of wine from them. The only good part in some of you being dissatisfied is that there is more there for us...given their small production. This small cottage winery has some of the best white wines in Ontario. The chardonnay and riesling were top notch - I would reccommend this winery to everyone. The owners Christina and Jan are from the old country - they so remind me of my grandparents. cheers! read more
