Well in legal terms this is called bait and switch... advertised prices online are "From $64.95" but what they fail to tell you is this is the first month only and then it's $159 per month after that. $159?! are you kidding me?? I moved my stuff out a little while ago and I wanted to update my review. They are AWESOME!! I put my stuff in Storage as I was waiting for my new job to start. It kept getting delayed and delayed. Peninsula Storage was SO understanding and flexible. I kept extending my storage week by week. I explained my situation and they told me to relax - my stuff would be safe - and to just come by when I needed to. Also, when the day arrived for me to move out, they were so helpful to me and the movers. They made sure the mover could get in and out of the area. Lastly, if you call during work hours, they can extend your access so that you can access your storage after hours. Thank you so much!! read more

There's only one thing I don't love about Peninsula Storage - they're not 24 hours. But that is actually a positive. They don't attract the sort that come and go in the middle of the night doing weird things. Also, the management are Very helpful and friendly. All the ladies at Peninsula Storage really care about the facility And the tenants. I've had lots of questions and changed units a few times. Jennifer and Naomi have been so great, very patient and always make me feel welcome. I even managed to get my own lock jammed up last week. The lady in maintenance quickly came to my unit and undid the lock for me and even showed me how I got it stuck, and how not to again. She didn't make me feel foolish at all. For the 4th time in 10 days the elevator is out of order. I need to empty my unit, but can't carry all the boxes and furniture down the stairs. The person from the office came over to take a look at the elevator. She just said, "sorry for the inconvenience just use the stairs." The people in the office were so nice when I rented the unit, but that is where the costumer service ended. Giving one star only because the place is clean. read more

We rented multiple units during a remodel. In addition to the bait and switch, which we have experienced on all of our units: 1) when we moved our furniture out of one unit, our furniture was gnawed and had rat droppings. The maintenance guy we told, shrugged like it was common place. 2) There is rarely a manager on site, or anyone who can make a decision. I walked in one day to pay my bill and there were 4 staff people behind the desk - and yet no one could answer my question and referred it to the manager. 3) Repeated calls to the manager and assistant manager have gone unanswered. You can do better. Always ask to meet the manager of a storage facility - their attitude sets the tone for your experience. read more

I didn't get a reply to my email inquiry on the $39 "moves you in" statement. Seemed to me it left room for interpretation, but went down there anyway--how much more could it cost? I figure couldnt be more than other places. Wrong assumption. When I arrived on the day I had a confirmed reservation for (but she couldn't find the reservation), she told me that rate is for the first month, then it goes to $100--for the smallest unit. Wasted trip. From the other comments here, glad I didn't rent here. Also, found a place much closer at less cost, more professionally run, and with easier access. Also, to the owners, just stop with the fake reviews. You are so obvious. read more

We rented a small storage unit this week and were very happy with the signup procedure. The staff were all friendly, professional and welcoming, offering good, clear information as well as coffee and water in the office. The storage area is clean and well lighted. When we brought our items to store the next day, we appreciated the free help that was offered to us to bring items to our unit which is in an upstairs locker. There is an elevator and carts to carry items. read more

They doubled their rates and lowered the level of service. Didn't get changes on the account correct even when they were made in person with office staff. Changed the lock on my unit without informing me, telling me I should have gotten a letter about a fire inspection. They never sent any letter. Stay away from here. read more

I thought this place was the best and the prices very good after getting prices from other storage places in the area but now they are increasing my units $180 more per month each saying "the promotional rate ended". Ouch!! I moved out of a larger unit which was the same price I will be paying for a smaller one now. I've checked around and I can get a cheaper price and no increases or surprises! I love this place and David and Roni were the best, honest and helpful. The one thing I can say is it's very clean and the front desk staff is nice but prices are very misleading!!! I use to recommend them to everybody but have had so many complaints I can't recommend them anymore. Sad because I would have rated them 5 stars before!!!! read more

I just started storing some of my items here, and I have got to say that hands-down, this is the nicest storage facility I've ever been to. Units are nice and clean, with well-lit (non-creepy) hallways. Each unit has its own alarm system which can be deactivated upon entering the facility. Not too shabby. I had a very pleasant experience while storing my possessions there from May -Oct. 2010. The staff was always helpful & professional, the place is clean & well-maintained, & the security was excellent. The rate was competitive & they offered me a larger unit for the smaller unit price when I showed them a competitor's rate, even though I preferred Peninsula's easy access to the units. The rate was set to increase after some time, but the costs were clearly stated. I kept the unit for 6 months, so it didn't affect me. I am guessing one could negotiate a deal regarding the rate. This location was very convenient for me. It was recommended by a friend because they had such a good experience & I am now able to recommend it as well. read more

We have never used a storage facility before and searching around for one in our area seemed like a daunting task. But, we quickly narrowed it down to Peninsula Storage Center on Leghorn Street in Mountain View and we are very glad we did. First, the facility is close to us and thus very convenient along with being in a nice, safe area. We were very impressed upon checking in on their rates as Naomi provided us with all the information we needed. We received the first 3 months at 50 percent off for a 10x10 unit. We checked around and there is no better deal. Naomi and the rest of the staff are very friendly and the facility is very clean. We are extremely happy with our decision. We bought a strong lock from them (customers get a discount) and there are plenty of packing materials there, also discounted for customers. While some other reviews complained about the four holidays, during which the office is closed, there is plenty of time to move things into your unit and/or contact anyone in the office. We highly recommend this place. You can rent on a month-to-month basis, with many units being drive-up. You don't have to take your boxes inside unless you want to -- a nice option. Getting in and out is very convenient. We like this place a lot. read more
