We were in town for business and we had some free time, so the three of us opted for some candle making! The process was very simple and fun and we had great direction from the staff. We started by picking out our favorite scents from the wall of candles and sniffed our way through to the end. Then we narrowed that list down and then with some expertise, narrowed it down again and voila our scents were created! We also got to choose our vessel, there weren't many options to choose from, but the options were cute. We had a great time and got to take home our handmade candles! My inlaws were in town, and I wanted to spend some time with my MIL doing something neither of us would normally do. I was pleasantly surprised by how many scents there were to choose from, and by the staff who knew how to pair our favorite scents so we'd have delicious smelling candles that were one of a kind. It was a good way to spend time. The only down side is the location. They validate parking for the garage across the street, but I didn't know that in advance and left my ticket in the car. I brought it with me when I went to pick up the finished candles later that evening, but they don't validate in the evenings. It was a mild annoyance that cost me $11, which isn't much compared to the cost of the candles, but still would have been nice to know about in advance. Perhaps a more prominent placement on their website? Or even a pop-up when making reservations? read more

There are tons of scents to pick from and the employee did a great job of helping us match scents for our candle. As for price, the cheapest candle is $25. Location: short north / high Price : $45 and up per candle Super cute! It takes 2-hours for the candle to sit, the time frame of making it took me an hour. It can take even more time . Tip: make sure you are smelling all possible combinations. If you write down 15 smells, and you then highlight 6 of the smells you can create as many different combinations with the 6 smells until you get the right one. You can even add and remove from the list until you get the right smell. You create a name for your candle and write it on a tag. You pour the candle and wait 2 hours. I went to Penn & Beech candles while visiting family back home and had a sisters day out. I was so excited when entering as there were so many scents to choose from and the atmosphere was very calm and serene. Unfortunately when stepping in I was not greeted or helped but I was still waiting for others and eventually talked to a lady at the counter who helped me understand the process and help me start making my candle. The scent was amazing and I enjoyed my experience. I've been to Penn & Beech before, as well as the precious Candle Lab, but came with a friend who has never done it. This was my first time at this location. We arrived at 2 and were able to pick up our candles just a few hours later, a major plus. We were given a clipboard to check out all the scents and write our favs. They had a few that were seasonal for Christmas, and those are the ones I went with. I picked the most classic vessel, which made the candle $24, not a bad price. The worker helped us to narrow down our choices, and then we smelled the oils together before we made our final decision. Then it was all about mixing the oils together, making the smell to our liking. I love my candle, and my friend says is the best smelling candle he's ever had.
