Penn & Teller is a classic magic show at the Rio where Penn plays the talker and Teller is the quiet guy. These two are past their 70's and instead of retiring, they continue to entertain audiences with their comedy magic routine. They've been doing this show at the Rio for 25 years now and have been magicians for 50 years. It's quite a legacy. A majority of the acts require a long set up of Penn explaining things and doing a bit of comedy. Almost every single act involves some sort of audience participation which is pretty cool. What Penn says is that they are magicians who don't do illusions so their whole value proposition is generally old school, classic magic involving a deck of cards. Their act is absolutely superb and will leave you guessing how they even pull off their magic. The only thing I found really odd is that they had asked for specifically a child participant for one of their acts but as the show went on, a bunch of the language used was definitely not family friendly. Went to the show with my BFF on 12/5. Enjoyed seeing these legends in real life after being fans of theirs for all our lives. There's a lot of audience participation with volunteers asked for almost every act. Teller quietly motioned for someone to join him on stage for a flawless slight of hand act that was so brilliant, I think the crowd didn't get what he was doing for the first minute. Worth the watch, mainly if you have truly never seen them. Penn & Teller are _the_ legendary magic duo. They're celebrating their 50th year of working together and they don't seem to have missed a beat, but I feel that they've made a bit of an oversight in their "setlist" tonight, if you will. Although this was my first time ever seeing them live, I still felt pretty spoiled. I was able to redeem our Rio Rewards complimentary show tickets pretty easily. Print those vouchers from the kiosks first; that's probably the easy step. The box office is only open for one hour before the show, so I showed up then, presented the voucher and ID, and got the tickets via a link texted to my phone. Security and entry were straightforward, and employees will help direct you to your section. We had some pretty high seats, but they were very central in the theater. The stage appeared about the same size as the TV screens, so it wasn't too bad. The good parts started with jazz pianist Mike Jones, who does an entertaining pre-show and is kinda like a 3rd character in the actual P&T performance with his little accompaniments and references. And Penn Jillette is a showman, charmer, comedian, and commander of the stage when he had to deal with audience volunteers not quite reacting as intended. I wonder if Teller took too much of a backseat at times today, even though he had one or two tricks all to his silent self. The real issue I had is that most or all of the material, sadly, was already done on a little TV show called Penn & Teller: Fool Us. They say you don't wanna perform the same magic trick twice since someone might figure it out, but really it's because it removes a lot of the drama and tension when you've seen it before. My mom actually started telling me the expected result of one of the trick, and lo and behold, it occurred exactly that way. I won't add more details or specifics about tricks since I'd actually be spoiling you, but I'm sure they have enough of a repertoire that they could've added some variety. On the plus side, you get way more than what you pay for from TV? Penn & Teller is a show worth seeing if you've watched very little of them. Definitely try to get seated closer to the front if you're paying though, since those screens are both pretty small and very low in framerate; have they even been updated since the duo started performing here in 2001? read more

Thursday, 4-03-2025: This is way overdue! Penn & Teller have their own theater at the Rio Hotel. We've enjoyed watching their show Fool Us and we were anxious to see them. My husband and I are magic aficionados and seeing them was on our bucket list. The theater is beautiful and spacious. We loved the stadium seating and we had a great view of the stage. Penn & Teller are both consummate showmen and their years of experience was very apparent. We recommend seeing their show for the best in entertainment. It was done with a lot of ingenuity and creativity. There were parts in the middle that didn't make sense but it came together at the end. Our minds were blown! They are a must-see! We enjoyed them so much that we wouldn't hesitate to see them again. read more

This review is a bit late but I saw them on 11/28/25. It was my first time seeing them in person. They are located at the Rio Hotel & Casino. It's a pretty easy walk if you got dropped off by rideshare. It's an hour and half show. I got my ticket from Vegas.com. I was up on the balcony, first row. Not a bad view. If you want to volunteer and be more interactive then I suggest booking a seat down below. There isn't a bad view since they have two jumbotrons. I enjoyed the humor and they did show magic. I liked a lot of the tricks. Some of the negative reviews are not really legit. If you look at their history, they give 1-2 stars for everything. Don't listen to a Karen or a Ken. read more

We went to see Penn and Teller's show tonight at the Penn and Teller theater. It is located inside the Rio hotel. The theater is very nice. You can buy souvenirs before you go in. They also have beverages for purchase since you can't bring in your own. Our tickets were a few rows back from the stage so it felt very intimate to me. If you want to participate in their act, sit on the right or left close to the aisle. They picked a lot of people from those areas. Probably because it is easy for them to get up on the stage. The show itself was very good and we really enjoyed it. I was impressed by Penn's ability to speak the whole time, make it relevant to that day's show and audience, and be funny at the same time. Teller is just adorable. I want to pick him up and put him in my pocket. He looks so little next to Penn but that's because Penn is so tall. I loved watching Teller do the magic acts he did on his own. Something about him not talking just makes you pay closer attention. The two of them together are simply "magic". Hard to believe it's been 50 years. I'm really glad we got to see them live. My only negative is all the cursing Penn does. For a guy who doesn't believe in God he sure uses his name a lot. Is it really that hard to not curse and keep it family friendly? My kids are grown but frankly I hate when people say GD so liberally. It is offensive to me. There were quite a few kids in the audience and they picked a few out and had them come on stage so they care that kids are there and want to include them. Why not care a little more and cut out the cursing? Other than that, I thought the show was great and was happy we were able to see it while in Vegas. read more

My son treated me to a Saturday night show at the Rio. Penn and Teller have been celebrating 50 years together and they have aged quite a bit from the posters that are shown throughout the hotel, however, their enthusiasm, their talent and their energy is still point on. We were upgraded to seats on the main level and there are screens on both sides of the theater to watch the stage as well. What an amazing night and show!!! Were were greeted upon entering, showed our tickets and went inside. We went to the bar to order drinks and snacks. Kenn got the straight jacket lemonade and me a sprite. He said the drink was good and strong... We went to our seat and listened to play the piano until the show started. He was very good and I was enjoying the music. They were everything that I imagined. Funny, entertaining and down right interesting. It's been almost 20 years since I attended Penn & Teller's show. I saw them again last month (October 2025) and loved their new act. The place was packed, which was unusual during this visit to Las Vegas. My friends and I attended several shows, and most of the other ones were empty. People aren't spending a lot of money on vacations right now and are opting to holiday closer to home. P&T's current show is quite different from the one I saw years ago. Both were great, but this new one is not only entertaining, it is also important. I highly recommend seeing this particular show. If you're a fan of P&T, you'll love it. If you haven't seen them at all, you'll love it too. When they ask for participants, take the risk and be one of them. It adds even more depth to your experience. read more

Absolutely disappointed in the show. Hardly any magic and that was below par. Most of the show was talking about stooges. It seemed like a 6th grade skit. I was a major fan for years who was able to see them for the first time and regret it. Additionally. Access to the theater is a joke. It's like a mile walk and rideshare drivers have to park even farther away. My opinion. If you want to see your idles. Go. Just don't expect a magic show. If you want to see magic. Go see anyone else even if you have to pay more. In Vegas. Time is more valuable than money. Btw. The entropy was an exact twin of what i seen on tv. Again very disappointed. . Took kids here on thanksgiving. They had a blast. Penn and teller have been doing this a long time. I love how passionate they are. It stands out the most to be compared to all the others. I loved fish tank magic trick and my youngest daughter loved the cloth trick done on one of the audience members. My oldest loved the elephant magic trick. We would come back to watch them again. Though I'll definitely try to buy the tickets earlier on so we get center tickets lol. read more

In A beautiful theater in the Rio Casino and Hotel. Beautiful multicolored stage with the date on a board. and an envelope on the stage. It was really nice. They had a little jazz duo, playing some great standards girl from Ipanema, etc. the Mike Jones duo. I believe that pen Gillette is the bass player. They were excellent. They then invited us up onto the stage to sign the yellow envelope and then to go and fill out a sheet where we listed our dream where we'd like to go what we'd like to do there and who we'd like to do that with. They instructed us to take that back to our seat, and it would be used at some point in time during the show. Great way to put some intrigue immediately into the process. it was a great show. So much audience participation from all over the arena. Spent much of the time proving that they didn't use stooges, it was a nice Swiss to get more people involved. They did a big audience participation thing with the forms we filled out at the beginning and then just kept going. If you know anything about Penn, he talks a lot and is very intellectual about all of the things that they do, and they capped that off at the end of the evening with a funny twist on a trick that was happening and you didn't even know it. A great magic show, they don't need bells and whistles because they really do a fantastic job of entertaining. read more

We went to Penn & Teller as an example of a "classic" Vegas magic show. It's amazing that they captivate the audience with two guys on a stage. We arrived early and were selected for a free "upgrade" (from sitting at the front of the balcony to sitting on the floor). It was great to be close up, and there's a bit of a music show in the beginning (with a guest appearance by Penn). Penn & Teller did a wonderful job with the show and winning over the skeptics in the audience. read more

Fun show with very comfortable seats with plenty of legroom. It was easy to get to and Rio has free parking. The show was engaging and not too long. You can't bring in outside food and drink but they do sell drinks you can have there. Theater was not too cold. read more

Got two tickets for $65 each, much more reasonable than $120! Some of magic tricks were great! I loved the quarters and goldfish acquire, which was absolutely mind boggling! Also loved the glass drawing, shattering, then reconstituting again trick...crazy! However, there is A LOT of Penn just talking and talking leading up to a magic trick, which felt like 50-60% of the show. The other tricks were good, but not as visually enticing...lots of "This was the card you had, wasn't it?". I wanted more magic less monologue. read more

Was able to get discounted tickets to the show on Valentine's evening and we've been wanting to see the show for some time now so we decided to go...the theatre is very nice, and very large as well, this was definitely not a full house event on this occasion as there were empty seats throughout...the show itself was pretty good, a mixture of magic and comedy with a lot of audience participation...during the roughly one and a half hour performance they did about a half dozen different tricks, one of which surprisingly failed...these guys have been doing this for a half century now and they have been at the Rio for a long time as well, they also have a t.v. show as well as books and music...there is a merch booth in the lobby as well as a large bar selling cocktails and snack. The drinks, as you would expect, are expensively priced but the lines were long even with four bartenders working. All in all it was a good time, RECOMMEND read more

I loved the show. I recently listened to a podcast about magicians and how it's all science and misdirection so I was super excited to see them. I didn't look too closely at any of the acts and took them all at face value (knowing it's not magic) and I had a blast. The theatre is on the smaller side, so every seat is good. That being said, we went for the best that were available so we were on the floor by the stage. I'm not going to spoil the tricks, but it's clear that they've done a tone and honed their act over the years. They said they try new tricks constantly so I feel confident that if I come next year it will be a whole new act, which is cool. They are also really funny. There's a lot of audience participation. There are drinks you can buy outside and snacks (like chips). The drinks are limited and expensive, but I appreciate that they offer them. Definitely get here at least ten minutes early if you want a drink. read more

I got free tickets to be an audience member for their show. The acts were wonderful, but I wish there was a bit more interaction from Penn & Teller themselves. Penn was hilarious the times he did speak. He seems like a really great and down to earth guy! Opening up the bar and serving light refreshments would've been great too while we wait to go inside the venue. Penn & Teller was a blast! They were very funny, and there were lots of interactive audience involvement activities. I enjoyed the tricks/ sleight of hand and loved all the musical involvements of the show (as a drummer!). I would have preferred less poking fun at religion and less language. I get that it's Las Vegas, but I didn't think those specific things added anything to the show. Penn and Teller are hilariously funny, excellent magicians, I would like to see them creatively choose other topics to theme their show around. It felt excessively poking fun at Christianity. The show was 5+ and there was quite a bit of language, but just a personal preference. I wouldn't want my kids exposed to language like that, especially that young. We had an excellent time, but as a side note the Rio where the show is hosted is probably due for some updates. For such a popular show, the videography equipment, carpet, etc was very dated and shabby. The seats were comfortable (which is one of the most important parts!) and the crew was amazing. Like seemingly every show you have to walk through a gross smelling smoke filled casino to get to the show. Bummer the side doors weren't open and available. I appreciated Penn's monologue about not using audience plants, a lot of people wonder about that but never have the chance to ask! As always, I'd love to know how the final trick worked, if it was cleverly placed mirrors or what. Very cool. I'm glad we went but if the above things possibly bother you, think twice about bringing children. read more

The Penn & Teller show was great! It was a mix of comedy and Magic. Sat in the VIP section which was very comfortable and spacious and after the show we got to Meet with Penn and Teller in person. They were super humble and sweet and even gave us a gift bag with goodies and spent time talking with us. It was the perfect ending to a great show. This show has beeb around for 50 years...wow! It's also a great show for all ages. They very interactive with the audience which we loved as well. Would highly recommend. The theater was very clean with spacious and comfortable seats throughout the whole theater. Would love to come back again to catch another show. They said they change up the show every once in a while, which is nice so maybe next time we go it will be different! read more

What a great show for all ages. I've always seen the billboards and advertisement for this show but never had a chance to check it out until this weekend. I was able to get the VIP booth seats which were very comfortable and spacious. The show was a mixture of magic and comedy all in one. They pulled out children and adults to be part of the show. They had some really cool magic tricks that had the crowd wondering how they did it. This show has been going on for about 50 years now and there is a reason for that. Me and my guest were able to meet Teller after the show and that was also pretty cool. If you're in town on vacation or even a local I'd check this show out. read more

What a cute show! Seats are comfy & our seats were good. Had section 1, row L & seats #5 & 6. They pull a lot of people up on stage & Teller pretty much doesn't talk during the show, just @ one spot. He does make funny face & hand gestures. I was amazed @ his jelly bean skit & the "elephant" one too. It's definitely no other magic seen in other magic shows in Vegas. I've been wanting to see them for a long time & jumped @ the opportunity to when tickets came up on 1stTix so thank you to the Rio & 1stTix for this opportunity. Rio is a favorite hotel of mine & it's amazing how many show rooms they have, this one (of course) I've never been to before. The bartenders did move a little slow for my liking even though there were like 3-4 separate lines. I wanted to get the collection cup & ordered a Tito's & soda water. The thing that disgusted me was the bartender who waited on me was also handling the credit card & money transactions for his customer's orders. I noticed him grab a lime slice for a customer in front of me with his bar hands & when he went & grabbed a lime for my drink I told him "no" & asked for a lemon slice, but asked him not to touch it with his bare hands so he grabbed some tongs that were right next to his fruit & grabbed a lemon with it & dropped it in my drink....so wait? If you have tongues to grab the fruit then why are you using your dirty hands that you're handling cash & credit cards with?!?!? He is putting the customers @ risk of getting sick. Nelson was his name & he needs to be educated on proper handling behind the bar & any of the other bartenders who are practicing the same. They had some candy for sale & wish they sold popcorn but I didn't see any. They do check your purse before entering & don't allow you to bring food or drinks in from the outside. I was also on a knee scooter due to my broken foot & have a chicken attached to it to use as a horn & the girl checking my purse asked if it made noise & when I told her it does she had to check to see if I could even go inside with it. I was like "I'm obviously not going to be able to bring my scooter to my seat" & she said "but someone may walk by it & squeeze it" Some other lady came over who was much friendlier & told me it was OK to bring it in & thought it was cute. I don't know what I would have done if I couldn't have gone inside with it? If someone was to do that then that person should be held liable for their behavior. Luckily no one touched it. Penn states in their show that they change the material up, not sure how soon I would go back if I had the opportunity? Bathrooms were clean inside the theater but stinky. Theater & the area before you enter was clean. It is a little bit of a hike if you park @ the parking garage closer to the Chippendales side. read more
