Update: I've been working with Chris since at least 2020 and he has helped me update and modernize almost everything in my house. I'm so grateful to know a handyman I can trust! He is meticulous in his prep (and his cleanup) and he has a wealth of knowledge. Most recently he replaced the cabinets in my kitchen (no small feat, as it was a very custom job) and advised me on upgrading the appliances, which he also installed. I am so thrilled and pleased with the quality of his work. He is a true craftsman. He has truly fixed everything, from filling/painting the walls after I had all my windows replaced, to renovating and painting my patio, to reconfiguring multiple closets, replacing my smoke detectors with modern 10-year models, fixed toilets, hung curtain rods, assembling a new bed frame...basically anything I've ever asked him to do. I've already posted a review for Chris, but I want to share something that I believe will be beneficial to those considering Chris as your handyman. I had a situation a couple of days ago that caused me to feel extremely unsafe in my home. I needed to have 2 new deadbolt locks replaced immediately. I called Chris, and explained what was going on. He told me to take pictures of the deadbolts and that he would go to Home Depot to purchase new locks and be at my house asap. A few minutes later Chris called and said he would be there shortly, and that I may not need new locks, because he remembered he has a key kit that might allow him to recalibrate my locks. Within minutes of Chris's arrival, he recalibrated my front door! He then did the same for another door. He then proceeded to check the remaining locks that didn't need to be replaced, but he wanted to make sure they were functioning properly and that I would be ok. I immediately felt save in my home and it was because Chris went over and above to help me. I was frazzled when he arrived, but after he recalibrated the first lock, my anxiety was gone. I'm so grateful I found Chris who not only provides a quality product no matter what the job, but is also someone who truly cares about his customers well being. He proved that to me. read more

Chris has done work for me on two occasions. He is very versatile and can improvise solutions for tricky projects. One example: I had some fiberglass valances that needed to be hung above 3 windows. These were home-made (by me) and I had two other handymen tell me they didn't know what hardware could be used for support. Chris glued them securely to standard curtain rods. They look great, not home-made! He also installed a mailbox by my front door and a lazy susan in a sink cabinet. All work was done meticulously and swiftly. I was more than pleased. read more

My laundry room has a sun tunnel that is connected to a dome in the roof and the sun tunnel funnels the light to the laundry room which makes it well lit with natural light. There was a problem recently and the room went dark. Chris came in and fixed in in one hour. He reconnected the tunnel to the dome, re-fitted the dome to make it snug, then cleaned and resealed the tunnel. Chris came on time, was very professional and thorough during the work, and cleaned everything afterwards. We had a wall bed moved into our home, assembly was not completed. We reached out to Penn Handy, very easy to get a quote and book online. Arrived right on time and very professional. COVID compliant, wearing a mask which is much appreciated. The wall bed had been in storage, some pieces were missing. Very conscientious, wanted to make sure everything was done correctly. It turned out brackets that held the top piece was missing and screws were used to secure the parts. We appreciate the diligence in figuring out workarounds for missing parts. The actual time to finish the job was about 15 minutes less than estimated. We are very happy with the finished job and will use Penn Handy for future jobs. Chris has helped me with various house, car and computer needs thoughout the years. He changed the locks and doorhandles on my front and bedroom doors, replaced a chandelier in my front entryway, repaired the plumbing under my kitchen sink when it leaked, and other things. He fixed my car which had multiple check engine light codes on. He also installed new window wipers on my car. He fixed my printer when it stopped working. He also installed ethernet boxes in my house so I didn't need to use WiFi which I'm sensitive to. We've been having door issues the last several weeks. First my bathroom door started getting stuck once the weather warmed up. Several days later my front door get completely stuck shut! Contacted Chris from Penn Handy on Sunday Morning and originally we were scheduled in for the follow Friday. I explained to Chris how urgent this repair was as everyone was having trouble entering and exiting the house. Chris helped us install 4 bathroom fans and a built in microwave. He did a great job with the fans. He was tidy with his work. Our old microwave was 13 years old and was hard wired in. Chris created an outlet for us and filled in the 4 inch gap between the microwave and the cabinet that the new microwave did not cover.
