My wife and I came to the Old Route 66 Grille on St. Patrick's Day Weekend. I have passed this several times and it is only about 10 minutes from Murrysville or Greensburg. It is definitely an older place and the customers matched that vibe. It is definitely more spacious than it looks from the outside. There is a nice bar area and a dining room. The service was fast and friendly. My wife ordered the Shaved Steak Salad and I had the Reuben. Everything was fine. Definitely a decent meal. The prices are pretty reasonable. Had the zucchini planks. Literally one thin slice of zucchini inside each deep fried pocket. Then ordered the broccoli as my sides. I like broccoli so I ordered double in place of potato. I really like broccoli. It was unbelievably tough and punky. Literally I had a hard time chewing it. Left it. I swear the first time in my life I ever wasted broccoli. When the server took the plate she said oh you couldn't eat your broccoli tree. I said 'tree' a good description because it chewed like a tree. Wife had the grilled chicken salad. Comes with curly fries. They were barely edible. Taste? A friend had given us a gift certificate. We didn't use it all so we gave the few dollars left on it to another couple when we left. I'm in a unique position that I often go to places on business, not as a customer. My decision to become a customer is often based on my interaction with the businesses since it doesn't necessarily behoove them to be nice to me. I was at this place today, doing my job, and interacting with the staff. These people were so incredibly nice that they earned my business. I just had a burger and it was really good! The place is a bar style restaurant. Nice, not extravagant. Comfortable. I did have an opportunity to see the kitchen. Everything I saw was as I'd expect it to be. Clean and busy. I will definitely eat there again. The food is good, the people are better. The majority of my interactions were with a gentleman named Harry. Great guy! Never great fine dining quality, but used to be good for the price. But last 2 times I went here the food quality and service were terrible. I'm not a picky eater...but I could not finish the meal(s). The service was slow and the staff just tried to make light of it. I won't be back. read more

Giving Route 66 Grille 5 stars, because we have nothing to complain about - service is fast and friendly, food is great and the atmosphere is pleasant for dining. We went to this family owned local restaurant for the first time in a couple of years, to see the Christmas trees, there are over a hundred, large and small, a little after Christmas, and are thankful they were able to remain open despite the pandemic. I think during that time we had ordered takeout a few times. This evening, my husband ordered the jumbo fish sandwich that he loves (very popular during Lent). My wife picked this place, and it was definitely a great choice. Their restaurant has been around for about 25 years, as Route 66, and they have lots of Route 66 signs, all over, as well as Christmas trees in various areas. We elected to sit next to one! We had the sirloin, with potatoes, and the salmon, with rice. Both of us had salads, and we were impressed with both meals, and salads. The salmon comes with a sweet bourbon glaze, that was really tasty. Our waitress, Brandy, was friendly and helpful, as was the hostess. Also, the owner/manager came by and asked if everything was alright. I always appreciate that. Be mindful of the oncoming traffic, if you park in front of the restaurant, when you back out of the parking lot. Traffic coming off of Route 66 doesn't have to stop, when exiting onto Old Route 66. read more

This family-owned and operated grill offers casual dining at reasonable prices. They specialize in grilled steaks, burgers, fish sandwiches, legendary homemade potato chips and a Colonial Delmont honey mustard dressing that is definitely worth a try! I love their daily soup features, lunch and dinner specials. They have great appetizer items such as shrimp champagne, red pepper flat bread bruschetta, buffalo wings and much more. On Wednesdays they feature their 8 cut one topping pizza for 8.95. Our meal was topped off with the Grille's homemade pecan ball. Well worth the visit alone! The dining area is a little dated but very spacious and is as cozy and inviting as the bar section. Customized menus and accommodations for 60 guests can be arranged. This local institution is staffed with patient, helpful, kind and witty folks. The menu offers a great selection including nightly specials. Full bar and it wouldn't be PA if Yuengling wasn't on tap. For years I think this is where the locals have been coming for their meals! Known for their Italian fare, seafood and steaks, they will not disappoint you! We decided to visit our favorite restaurant having moved away over a decade ago. I am sorry to report that our experience was quite unpleasant! We ordered steaks that were quoted to be one price and halfway through our meal we were informed that our steaks would be an additional $9.00!!! Seriously??? In the middle of our meal??? The meat was average and not the quality that we remember. The manager had a very nasty attitude and made a couple of snide remarks! Needless to say... Traditional midwestern place, quite suitable for bigger groups, seems family owned.. I had a '33' burger that was bun less, my fiancée had a regular burger with ham and cheese and we shared a shrimp basket.. food was simple, fresh and tasty, service was prompt and pleasant.. overall, thumbs up all around ! read more

Very unpleasantly surprised with this place! Had high hopes. We reserved space for 14 guests for a birthday party and were treated like a burden the entire time. When we finished eating, staff began clearing our tables and table clothes, and we were rudely asked by the owner to leave to make space for the next guests. The restaurant was filled with empty tables and an empty bar that they could have moved us to as we were still buying and enjoying drinks. Great food, excellent service. Waitress Brandy (awesome) suggested the Steak and Sea special (8 oz sirloin with scallops/shrimp scampi). Steak done to a perfect medium. Scallops and shrimp just right -- not overcooked. Freshly baked bread was awesome, house salad was nicely chilled and perfectly dressed, and even the baked potato was steamy hot and perfect. Place was decked out for the holidays with Christmas trees everywhere. No pretentiousness here, just a quaint atmosphere, super friendly staff, and great food. I unfortunately passed this place up a few months ago because the parking lot was super crowded. I understand why and wish I had waited in line the last time. New "go to" place. I was there on a Friday night at about 7, the crowd was all over the place. I sat at the bar but there isn't really a separation from there and the dining area so there are kids everywhere. The restaurant in general felt very unorganized, at one point the bus boy was serving drinks. The service was kind of sloppy and we weren't really served in a timely fashion but it was a busy Friday night. The couple sitting next to me had steaks that looked good. I got a burger and it was mediocre at best, it came with chips that had no seasoning and there French onion soup dip tasted just like sour cream with no flavor. read more

This is a very dated restaurant but the building aside, the service is very friendly and attentive. The steaks are served on a sizzling platter and cooked to order with a garlic butter sauce. Their home made potato chips are good and their soups are very good. I have never got a bad meal and the only problem I ever had was a steak that was full of gristle which they replaced very quickly and apologized for even though they could not have seen the problem. Waitress couldn't tell me much when I asked about beer selection. I asked about a hoppy ale and when she went to get the bartender this person didn't seem to know what an ale was. My family loves locally owned restaurants. 66 Grille is no exception. My husband thought it was called 66 Diner and was expecting a different atmosphere and menu, but we were not disappointed in the end. He had the shrimp dinner. The shrimp were actually jumbo, or bigger if that's possible. I had the spaghetti with meatballs, which is not something that I usually order because I can make it at home. It was amazing. The sauce is pretty sweet, and I loved it. The meatballs were large and very tasty. Our 6YO had chicken tenders, and he finished every bite.
