The food is great. The employees work really hard but the manager does nothing. Every time I go into this location I stand at the front for about 5 minutes before i'm even acknowledged. If there are two employees and they are busy she is somewhere else talking to someone else while those two employees are trying to help customers. If they are not busy and there is only one employee she's off somewhere talking so now while that one employee is fixing the food customers have to wait until she finally comes up front to take your order. read more

I ordered a half "Reuben" at the door ["to go"]- was directed to pay at the end of counter. Two evidently not very experienced boys and a very harried lady were preparing a good number of sandwiches - finally the lady called my name and I paid. Then waited again for my small sub. When I received it - all packed in bag, the sauce that goes with it was missing. On the other hand, the meat, some cabbage and the rye sub-bread were very good - in fact the meat and the bread were delicious. If you order something you usually like they aren't going to make you a terrible version of it. I love Penn Station subs! This location js right near a target so its very convenient. I went in late, around 8:45pm and there were two very nice ladies working. They greeted me as soon as I walked in and were very patient with me as I took the time to order. I got the cheesesteake with fries and a lemonade. It was very good! Tl;dr: Great subs, even better cookies! This is a chain restaurant that does east coast subs so it didn't really call out to me when I was looking for lunch for the first couple of weeks of my new job. I got tired of driving for lunch so I decided to just give them a try. I went in and was pleasantly welcomed by one of their employees. She made some recommendations and I took her up on the Turkey Bacon Ranch sandwich with all of the fixings. At the checkout stand, the cashier spoke highly of their cookies and one of the customers shouted a hearty "GET ONE" from across the store-- so of course I had to get one. The sandwich was so good! I ate the entire small sandwich so quickly because I could not get enough of it. The sandwich was not heavily bready, so you could taste the fillings which were very tasty! The cookie is where they won the five stars! I don't eat at a lot of fast food places, but the Penn Station locations are growing on me. I signed up for their email list and often get links to coupons or games to win coupons. I've been here twice with BOGO coupons and have gotten very good value and good subs. One minor issue during the last visit was that the clerk discounted just my drink (cheaper) when he should have discounted my sub. The cheesesteak was delicious!! I ordered extra provolone and feel charging $1.49 for maybe an ounce more cheese is very pricey. The fries were also delicious as usual. However, the medium shareable cup was only partially full. That looks like you're cheating the customer. Owners will need to find other cost cutting measures instead of overcharging and decreasing portions. Had never been to this chain before, but was craving a good sub sandwich and thought it deserved a chance. I ordered a chicken parm sub - the bread and the sauce were great, and the cheese was fine. The service was also adequate and the food was ready for me to take when I arrived. Unfortunately, that's end of nice things I can say about it. The taste of chicken and mushrooms was extremely bland, and their consistency was like chewing rubber. The pizza place across the street, Tomato Jakes, also has some subs on their menu and they are definitely a level up from what's at Penn Station. Won't be going back here sadly. read more

Have eaten at J'ersey Mikes', and Penn Station. Both have their advantages, but I prefer Penn Station. For one, they bake their breads FRESH. Not a big batch, for the whole day, but rather, as the need arises. (no pun intended!). I am not a white-bread eater, but it is very good. The also offer wraps, which I have not tried, but look delicious from other customer chowing down. EVERYTHING is fresh! You can taste in your first bite. I have two suggestions for Penn Station..... People LIKE desserts. When I was there, I only saw a "saran wrapped cookie brownie". It did not look appetizing at all. Also, I would hope, that corporate evolve in adding more toppings. Ordered 2 sandwiches, a small and medium chicken Philly cheesesteak and a nedium order of fries. I requested mushrooms, onions and banana peppers on both with mayo. One 1/2 sandwich had a mushroom and piece of onion on it. The other sandwich just had mayo. If I could give zero stars I would. I placed an online order at approximately 1:50pm. Sent boyfriend out to receive order. He arrived at the store around 2-2:05pm. The promised ready time was 2:11pm. I understand businesses get busy however what happened next is ridiculous. Upon his arrival, he stated he was picking up an order for me (who is currently sick at home) and went to sit down. He said the restaurant was not busy at his time of entry however soon after he sat down approximately 10 people followed suit. Half of those 10 people received their orders before my boyfriend received mine. Why do you prepare an order that you've had for 40 minutes after those who just entered the store?! Great staff. Awesome location. There's never a lot of people when I go so I usually in and out in about 5 minutes. There's a friendly staff that's always willing to help. Craig is the owner and everyone is so nice. They do a great job and greeting customers and assisting with food choices. They give great staff reviews on sandwiches when you request their opinions. It is very clean for a sandwich shop and when there weren't people in line the staff were busy cleaning. Since the artichoke sandwich was mentioned several times in reviews, that is what I ordered. The lady taking my order asked if I wanted to add chicken. I was glad she did because I would not have thought to do that on my own. I am a sucker for artichoke dip and the sub did not disappoint, its basically artichoke dip on bread. Mmm. But not for the faint of heart. It was heavy. They are more expensive than a subway or Jimmy John's but they are higher in quality and those places don't offer the fries. The subs heated are comparable to Fire House I would say. The service was very friendly at this location. They seem to really care about the customer experience. My grilled artichoke sandwich was very good, but a little oily. I'll order it with no mayo and half the cheese next time. Otherwise, though, I thought it was creative and a nice change from the standard veggie sub. The fries are excellent. I would come here just for those. I love crispy fries, and these are just the right combination of crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. However, Penn Station had a unique option outside of the normal grilled vegetable sandwich - a grilled artichoke sub. I ordered it with mushrooms and without mayo (the lady taking my order referred to this as "dry"). It was delicious! They serve their sandwiches open faced and mine had a ton of cheese on it. I can't say this will become a regular place since it was a little greasy, but I will definitely return when I'm in the mood for something heavier. Yay, I'm a fan. I ate here yesterday, well picked up, and service was amazing. Subpar for a sub restaurant. I would have almost given 5 stars except for two things. 1. The lady who took my order, she also was handling my sub, one glove on, one glove off and I saw her touch the pepperoni on my sandwich with her bare hands. 2. I had the italian and I am a fan of grinders but this one lacked flavor in the oil and vinegar department. I'm not sure what it was but that is what I look for in my italians. I did get a good portion of fries and they were great. I do like this place a lot because it is very clean and aesthetic. Service was beyond normal of a sub shop and I would be back because of that. Meats and everything looked fresh. I do like this place above all from other places because unlike other sub joints they seem to have a closed food storage system? In other words there's a LID that they close down over the meats and veggies when not being used. Other places leave this stuff out to the open and I REALLY like that they have this. My first visit was fantastic. Everyone was incredibly cheerful and friendly. My cheesesteak was delicious & the fresh-cut fries were phenomenal. And having Heinz vinegar available for the fries?! Made me homesick for Pittsburgh :) My second (attempted) visit was not a good one - to say the least. I walked in last night approximately 20 minutes before closing and was refused service. I felt bad walking in that close to closing (I've worked retail & would hate when people did that), but the "open" sign was lit, all the lights on, and several employees were inside. When I walked in, the guy behind the counter simply stared at me while the girl in the back near the drink station stopped what she was doing and placed her hand on her hip as she proceeded to stare at me as well. Feeling uncomfortable, I asked if they were still cooking. The gentleman at the counter looked at the clock & just said "um" and turned to the girl in the back. At this point, the girl looked at me & quite rudely said, "What does that sign say? Can you read that sign? What does it say on the sign?" I was seriously in shock. My first visit had been such a pleasant one and to be spoken to that way, especially when I had very nicely asked if they were still cooking, was beyond unnecessary. If they had simply said something along the lines of, "I'm sorry, we were slow so we've already turned off the grill & fryers," I would have been fine. I understand that happens - no problem. But there was absolutely no reason to speak to a customer that way. None at all. And if they weren't willing to still serve paying customers, they should have turned the "open" sign off and locked the door. Also, it's not as if I walked in 3 minutes before closing, it was 20. After my first visit, I would have rated Penn Station with 5 stars - in fact, I raved about the visit to family back home; however, at this point I'm not even sure if I will go back. read more
