Every option from security to rental car just rings and rings (at best), or disconnects (at worst). One of the numbers goes to a fax machine. How are people supposed to find out what they need to know about your airport if the information isn't online AND nobody answers the phone. I mean, nobody? Ugh. I've got to try to get to this airport today and fly out tomorrow. I'm not feeling hopeful about my flying experience if a simple phone call is so hard to answer. If it's not a total poop-show I will gladly come back and revise this review.

We just had the worst experience with Allegiant airlines out of Elmira. The agents at the desk were…read morerude and disrespectful!! Not helpful or accommodating in any way!! Our flight was delayed 4 hours and when we finally went to check our bags they told us we weren't able to and that the flight was closed even though the plane hadn't landed yet!! They told us we could get on the plane but we just couldn't take our luggage. Which obviously makes no sense. We have flown allegiant airline for years this experience is causing us to question our willingness to fly with them again.

This is a neat little airport along the finger lakes and an easy 25 minute flight from Buffalo. The…read moreairport has a courtesy car (a car they let pilots use for free for an hour or two) and it's quite nice to fly into, grab the courtesy car and drive up to the lake for a nice little picnic! It's a little hard to spot from the air, IMHO -- so it's useful to grab a satellite view of the area and look for the lone runway before you depart, although I'm sure with a GPS you'll find it easily enough. There's a pilot lounge with a few computers that you're free to use. You can rent hangars, come here for flight lessons and I believe the Penn Yan flying club recently moved their Cherokee to this field -- so definitely reach out to the flying club if you're interested in some affordable ways of learning how to fly. Not sure how much the hangars cost, but it's a neat little field. Transient parking is free for small planes, but they do charge a premium if you plan to fly in a King Air, etc. Fuel costs are average for the area. The runway is about 5,500ft and the lights on it are pilot operated. If you're a pilot and looking for a place to fly into, have a picnic along the fingerlakes; D38 is a great option! For those in the Buffalo area, it's likely one of the first "cross countries" you'll do as a student since it's just about 50nm away.

A quick walk from the gate to the rental car garage area to pick up my car. Then on the return trip, TSA was quick and easy. It's a very fast walk to the lounge, or gates, or food. Beautiful general aviation airport with some glider activity. Two runways, with the largest one…read morebeing about 3500ft in length. There are hills surrounding the airport so be prepared for some gusty winds on those special days. The final approach of runway 32 path takes you straight over the town of Dansville. You need to be on your game to land here, be prepared to go around if you need to. -1 deducted because it doesn't seem like self-serve fuel is available 24/7. I landed here on Memorial Day and couldn't fuel up myself. There was a number to call if I needed fuel, but I just decided to get fuel somewhere else later. There is a McDonald's and a Taco Bell within walking distance from the airport. Fun to fly here and get some ice cream and enjoy the country side and flying from Buffalo takes you directly over Letchworth on the way to DSV. A few RNAV GPS approaches for instrument procedures here as well. Hope this small airport is here to stay!

Just serving soft drinks, coffee, tea, wine and hard seltzer now. Sure they'll add more eventually. Gates are all together so you can't get lost. Lots of comfortable seating. No annoying background music or tvs blaring. TV screens have closed captioning. Thanks for CNN. Waiting to fly home to JFK. Couldn't be happier. So different from Delta T4 at JFK which is a shit show concerning food and Drink availability and crappy seating with no tables or cup holders. This airport makes you appreciate flying.

Had an early morning flight out of Ithaca. There are no signs on highways indicating how to get to…read morethe airport!! But google maps did the job. Returning rental car was easy after hours. Everything else was easy. Despite being a tiny airport, did not need to walk on the tarmac. (they had a jet bridge)
