I was wrong it was a bed bug. My friend and I who stayed in the bottom bunk have quarter sized welts all over our extremities. I have had to take off from work, was put on antibiotics and steroids and now am going to have to call an exterminator to check that I didn't bring them back that may home in Long Island. They have denied any responsibility even though I have never had bed bugs and this is the only place I've stayed other than my home in 6 months. Also my husband and my friends husband who were at home have not had any bites, thus the only place we could have gotten them was in this bed that we shared here. They refuse to refund me my money. DO NOT STAY HERE IF YOU DON'T WANT BED

We have been going to the Finger Lakes region for the last few years, but never stay close to the…read morelake. This time we decided to find a rental closer to Seneca Lake, and this cabin was. The location, was great. Close to many wineries and not too far from Geneva's local town to go out to eat and to Wegmans. Our main concerns are actually with the home specifically. The grounds are beautiful. It looks a little colt like, with the way the houses are set up but well maintained and a very welcoming space for our two small dogs to run. What was problematic for us was the inside or structure. The water smelled horrific. It actually smelt like rotten eggs and it was apparent the water had not been treated in a very long time. We actually went and bought gallons of water to cook with, wash our hands, drink and brush our teeth. Only two of us stayed in the home, thankfully, otherwise the smell would have been even worse with more guests. Next, the grill was filthy and had not been cleaned in quite some time. The directions clearly state the renter is responsible to clean the grill and/or the cleaning crew and neither have happened in a while. It was filled with grease and made us apprehensive to even use it with foil. Another major concern was the front step was loose and rocky. When entering, I almost fell a few times. This needs to be fixed for everyone's safety. The cabin was well equipped with all necessary household essentials, but there are several cob webs that need to be cleaned and the bug zapper is filled with bugs (inside the house) which really grossed us out. We appreciate the zapper there to catch bugs inside the house, but the ceilings and zapper need to regularly be cleaned. Finally, the dishwasher is extremely loud/broken and needs to be repaired so we were unable to use that. What is really upsetting is we emailed the owners and expressed all of our concerns and how the above really impacted our stay and we felt the price was not fair in conjunction with what we paid for (over $1200 for 3 nights) Their response confirmed they would be fixing everything we notated and also made mention they planned to sell their property so they were not really worried about what review I would write. While I understand they are going to be moving on, I took that as quite a smack in the face. Basically saying well, we are retiring and selling so we do not care what you have to say. So conclusively, I felt it was necessary to share a true and candid review. ***changed from 2 to 1 stars because now I'm getting nasty emails from the owner. Unreal I'm being harassed because I told the truth. I tried to work with him via email but they weren't even sorry nor cared and claimed I was "bitching". Oh I'm sorry all we wanted was clean non contaminated water, that must be asking way too much from a $400 per night rental. I edited to add that he's now sending harassing emails with lies because he's upset that we told the truth! He's claiming his house was messy and another claiming we left dog poop - all lies! Unreal he would treat people this way. See the photos for his nasty comments. Also, after all of the harassing emails and nasty comments I decided to look up the owners and found out he was sentenced in a pedophile ring!! Omg- how horrific and now I'm worried for my safety. Makes more sense now especially since he was so rude, nasty and demeaning to us. BEWARE do not stay here!! Just look up the owner, Robert Lawty and you'll read some really disturbing news!! Wow, I'm so bothered by this.

Spacious, super-clean, conveniently located rental in the heart of the Finger-Lakes region! We…read moreloved staying at this 3-bedroom house for our Girlfriend Getaway, and we definitely plan to be back. The owner, Tammy, was speedy-quick responsive and helpful. She provided thoughtful touches like snacks and drinks and even a Covid test kit! The decor is retro-80s, but the house is in great condition, and the important things are new: beds, fridge, stove, linens and towels, etc. It was a 4-minute drive to downtown Geneva and Lake Seneca. There are parking spaces for two cars, and Tammy has surrounded the house with happy yellow flowers. It is near the train tracks, but they only seem to run during the day--we slept well every night I had originally booked this so my family could stay with me for the Musselman Half Ironman--it sleeps at least 5 and has plenty of room for my bike and gear downstairs. But I got injured while training and broke a few ribs, so it landed up being a girlfriend weekend. This home was so comfortable and convenient and clean--we can't wait to be back!

The deck is really nice and they have a gas grille for you to make food on the grille. The large screen TV in the living room is nice with a Roku. That being said I feel it is over priced. Duck Inn right next door was similar priced and it's a three bedroom and three bath. Regina's cottage is two small bedrooms and one small bathroom. The second bedroom does not have a closet. The stackable washer dryer is in an alcove in the closet and when we used it it walked into the room. We called to have maintenance move it back but it was too late in the day so we got on the floor and we pushed it partially back with our feet. The master bedroom bed was not too comfortable with a foam pad. The kitchen lacks a dishwasher and the kitchen sink lacks real hot water and water pressure. Funny since both are fine in the bathroom. The dock is in horrible shape while Duck inn next door had a beautiful dock. There is a fire pit and chairs by the lake and we did light a fire one night. The kitchen pots and pans could be better and a salad spinner would be a nice addition too.

On one hand, I'm immensely grateful that the former Depot is gaining recognition as a historic site. The museum only tells a fraction of the area's rich history but still contains enough artifacts to spark plenty of discussion. The independent audio tour -- via tablet -- is a great feature. On the other hand, it still feels strange to focus so intensely on the white deer population. The tourist-y sheen is somewhat off-putting if you're from the area; you'll see what I mean if you browse the gift shop. That being said, I hope the park continues to maintain and protect the site. It's a vital part of local and national history.

We started our visit with walking tour of the houses with Sean who we could tell absolutely loves his job. He spoke so passionately about everything and was super knowledgeable. We then had a lovely happy hour chat with our inn keeper Anna before a fabulous dinner at 1833 Kitchen & Bar. We had a slight issue with the heating system in our room which was quickly taken care of AND Bill took the time to explain the whole system to my fiancé so we can incorporate thing we like and do not like into our home we're currently building!!! The next morning I had a lovely yoga practice while my fiancé slept in and then we enjoyed the scrumptious granola bars, Ithaca yogurt, juices and coffee! We then had a lovely walk about town and Wells College before lunch at 1833 Kitchen & Bar and then back to the Schoolhouse and Basecamp for a History of the Finger lakes with Mike! We then headed back to the inn for a little Happy Hour chat with Anna again before an amazing experience with Grace at Aurora Cooks. Our dinner demonstration with Grace was phenomenal!!! We learned a lot and she gave us some great tips on the appliance and cookware for our new home. Another breakfast with Anna before heading home this morning! So much fun and relaxation!!! Maddie was a great Innkeeper and the house was immaculate. The house is right on the lake and even though it was chilly, we enjoyed sitting by the water, sipping wine and watched the sunset. I completely regret not putting sleep aside when we arrived home from our dinner at the Aurora Inn restaurant to sit by the fire and make s'mores:( Next time for sure! On day one, we had an amazing experience at AuroraCooks! with Grace as she led a unique Butter Tasting! We drank sparkling wine and tried butters from around the world. The butter was great and the instructor, Grace was fantastic! I would definitely sign up for another event again at AuroraCooks! We also enjoyed a historical tour of Aurora by Dale. The information was amazing and we could have stayed on the tour for another hour. Dale is super knowledgable and entertaining. Do yourself a favor and visit the school house to learn more about the activities that you can participate in when you stay. We also had a couple's massage which my husband and I both agreed were the best we had ever had! Rarely am I impressed by accommodations, but I was duly impressed with the Acorn Inn. It was exactly the escape we needed after 16 months in isolation. Sheryl thinks of everything and could not be more hospitable. The grounds were impeccable and the bed in the Barn Suite was more comfortable than my own. And the breakfasts were excellent; a perfect start to each day. We will be back and I highly recommend.
