Perhaps, the shortage of dermatologists at Jefferson that causes 5 month wait times (but, you can get on a waitlist, and there's oftentimes cancellations, which you can receive alerts from on Jefferson's app, "My Chart"- a one stop shop, and must download for any Jefferson Health patient) is accredited to the hiring team measuring all other dermatologists against Dr. Angles' extraordinary standard of knowledge, care, and experience? Dr. Angeles does not keep her patients waiting, because she's considerate. Her depth of knowledge, and experience aids her to ask pertinent questions, commencing with family history of skin cancer, so she has the comprehensive information to perform examinations, provide solutions, all to be cognizant of anything and everything that's within the best interest of her patients. Her examinations are thorough, attentive, and informational. As she looks over every millimeter of your skin, she'll identify any lesion, problematic or not, from head to toes; angiomas, scars, dermatitis, moles, ingrown hairs, etc. On the day of my appointment, Dr. Angeles had a resident with her, John Miller, a PA native, who first came into the room to speak with me. Remember his name, because, as someone who was pre-med, majored in biology, taught bio lab, etc, I had classes with hundreds of students that went to medical school, and can recognize someone with incredible talent, and that "it" factor that differentiates stars. John Miller has the tools, personality, and knowledge to flourish. He has qualities, both learned and innate, which elevate him over his peers." His poise, discerning questions, friendliness, sympathy, kindness, and truly genuine care for others is remarkable. He's going to be a phenomenal dermatologist, especially absorbing all that Dr. Angeles embodies; brilliant judgement is accurate, careful and detailed options provides clarity, and reliable treatment. Lastly, Dr. Angeles, was very attentive to my behavioral cues, a part of communication that few occupy, let alone perform with accuracy. As I stated, Dr. Angeles has a packed schedule, with many patients who need her time. Because she knew my history, and life, she ascertained from my mood, behavior, voice, answers provided, and photos/emails stored on my phone, that I required what I did not expect- immense generosity, compassionate, tenderness, warmth, and advice/direction that she knew I was aware of, but repeated, and accentuated, to instill the sense of urgency, timeliness, and importance that I afford others, but oftentimes to my detriment, or don't think of doing the same for myself. I am grateful that she's my doctor. I don't take her for granted, and I have the utmost respect for her as both a doctor, and a human being. I went to this practice today for a follow up procedure from a previous doctor. I was scheduled with Dr. Sonya Lee. I arrived, checked in, and filled out paperwork, then was taken back to undress and wait for the doctor to come in. When she arrived, my first impression was certainly not a warm and fuzzy one. She was unfriendly, abrupt, and even seemed annoyed or inconvenienced when I was explaining my medical history and current concerns. It was uncomfortable, but I figured not everyone is naturally welcoming or comforting. It was what ensued during and after my in office procedure that assured me this was much worse than poor bedside manor. As we began my procedure, I mentioned to Dr. Lee that I wasn't good with GYN "stuff" as in very sensitive to pain and/or discomfort in that area. This was just a heads up in hopes that she would have some empathy and maybe take things a little slower or with extra care, and her response was "well yea this isn't fun for me either". Great. So my sense of her being annoyed or inconvenienced at the beginning of my appointment was confirmed. She proceeded on with the procedure which was just flat out rough and fast - beyond unpleasant. I asked her at some point if it was almost done and she said it would be. The last few seconds were the worst, it was as if she was purposely being erratic! Zero concern or consideration for me, my body, or my sensitivities. Once she was done, I mentioned that the procedure was done a little fast and roughly. She was clearly offended and said she didn't know what to tell me and wasn't sure how they do it at other places, but that's how they do it at GSP. Then she says "well I guess I'll text you with the results". Her attitude about it was horrible, dismissive, and cold. I'm sitting there half clothed and the person who's care I'm in has treated me like trash. I couldn't believe what I was experiencing. I expressed to her that I was a little uncomfortable at that point and her response was "yea me too". She then proceeded to go to the computer to take notes while I was sitting there in a very vulnerable position, unable to get up or move. I asked her if I could have please have the room to get dressed and she got up, walked out, and slammed the door behind her. As soon as that door shut I was in tears. I could not believe the treatment that I had just received. I have never in my life experienced something like this. Sure, a medical degree is great for practicing medicine, but so is care, empathy, compassion, a good bedside manor, and a general respect and consideration for others - things Dr. Lee is clearly severely lacking. I will never step foot into the offices of Gynecology Specialists of Philadelphia again and I urge others to consider my situation before they do. There are so many wonderful doctors out there, terrible experiences like mine should just never have to happen. Glad I know now! Looking forward to seeing a new doctor in the future. **Update** Ironically, but not surprisingly, recently received this letter in the mail from GSP stating that I am being let go as a patient for being "rude and disrespectful to the staff." Hard to do anything but laugh at this. First, for the fact that this is what I get in response to leaving a completely honest review of a horrid experience I had - no apology or accountability from this doctor, of course - which is right in line with my experience. And secondly, the fact that they ever thought I was stepping foot back in that office again! Ha. No thanks, a thousand times. I was nothing but pleasant with everyone in that office, including Dr. Lee who was in fact, extremely rude and unprofessional to me. God, they are worse off than I initially thought! Beware.

He listened to my concerns, gave me options, and really took the time to explain everything. Eventually I decided that it wouldn't be worth it to try laser to the area. He was honest and realistic about the results, explaining that the treatment likely wouldn't make a huge difference in their appearance. How refreshing! He refunded my consult fee and I was so impressed with his professionalism that I decided to go back for filler to a different area. He put filler to my temples and cheeks. In the last few years, I didn't like how my face had been looking saggy and a bit unflattering. This gave me the LIFT I needed! My nasolabial folds are essentially gone and I look like I did three years ago. My confidence is soaring and the best thing--no one can even tell what I did. A lot of the places I called only did beauty treatments and not an actual medical office. Dr.Ehrlich educated me on the human skin and how scarring works in detail, unlike some doctors who tell you no medical explanations. I also asked him a bunch of other random questions about the human skin and Dr.Ehrlich never looked annoyed or hurried me out the door. He told me he could re-glue my cut but wouldn't see much improvement since my cut is pretty small, and the it seemed to be glued pretty tight. He gave me advice on how I can minimize scarring, and I checked back in months later for follow up. He was right and it did not scar a lot, and I was happy with it. But most importantly, he let me have a peace of mind that it's going to be fine while I was waiting for to heal. I'd definitely recommend Dr.Ehrlich if you get any kind of cut where you don't want it to get botched, he seemed to have extensive knowledge and experience.

First time I came 15 minutes early, waited 3 hours and was VERY patient.. staff was very rude to patients and my first was OK. Only annoying part at the time was the long wait time just to be seen and they said they were short staffed and was rude to waiting room cause they were upset. Second time arriving, was 15 minutes late and GAVE courtesy call that I was on the way... which most people didn't do.. and I was seen 2 hours later. I get being late, but I was within grace period and the doctor seen another patient - which is fine but 2 hours later for me to be seen is crazy. When I asked the girl how much longer it'll be because I wasn't there for anything but a follow up of blood results. She threw it in my face that I wasn't 14 mins late and said " yeah you were pretty late so the doctor seen someone else" and I left it alone after telling her I have another appointment at 3:30. Mind you my appointment started at the asthma center at 1:20pm so that's 2 hours almost of waiting around. And if they were going to have an issue with me being late or be rude about it, when I called letting them know I'm running 14 mins late- they should've told me to reschedule instead of being nasty about it. Then when the Nurse practitioner came in- she came in out of breathe and already irritated telling me " yeah so your going to have to come back and reschedule because we are running behind and you need to do a breathing test and your skin test... and we don't have time for it. " and I told her ... I already did that last time I came. She was so confused and didn't know anything in my notes /chart. Than she proceeded to blame it on how I was late and shouldn't had even been able to come. FIRST OFF, I was within the 15 minute grace period and gave a courtesy call WHILE on the way. If you guys had an issue with being late (which is hypocritical cause your patients have to wait 2hours to even be seen) than you should've told me to reschedule. Not be rude and treat people like peasants because of being 15 mins late. Than I still was being nice and trying to talk to the doctor to let her know my story and positive experience managing my asthma with vitamins, allergy meds and helpful herbs.. and she criticized herbs and said nothing but medication will help. She also would not let me talk and was very impatient... and blamed it on me being late. She was very rude and HORRIBLE. Worst doctor I ever had in life. Did not let me talk or reassure anything I said. Horrible bed side manner. Rushed me out, very unorganized.. didn't even know why I was being seen. Did not have proper notes from last visit - was missing my bloodwork from my immune testing and didn't have that until I reminded them. She tried to tell me that I didn't get a breathing test done or allergy testing WHICH is not true and if she took the time to ask.. she would have known that. Words of advice: take the time to know and understand your patients.. not everyone is a statistic or the same. Also, I was rudely criticized by the doctor saying " how often do you smoke , cause I smell it on you" and I said I don't smoke.. and she said " well who does cause I smell it on you " how about you ask first and believe me when I say I don't. This company also doesn't do anything electronic which makes them in return unorganized and spend so much time trying to find information from YOUR MyChart.. Go here if you want a headache, to argue with your experience and take her frustration out on you and not give you the room to talk. After running a bunch of tests that ended up costing me thousands, I was dismissed and told all problems were because of my weight. I have since found a wonderful practitioner who did not dismiss my concerns, was placed on new medication, and have had no further issues. I also learned that the underlying issues could be the progression of my chronic illness, something that was not discussed at The Asthma Center. I will call this a learning experience.
