Deer Lake Resort is an awesome place for family. Our grandchildren live close and spent many days kayaking on the lake and riding bikes along the water. Interesting lake as much of the north side road is actually on the water. The park has play ground equipment which is great for kids under 10 or so. Jamie and Dave are gracious hosts, help you park rig, run store with great ice cream and always ready to help out with any needs. Virtually no road noise and zero highway as it's miles away made for nice quiet outdoor activities. I spent many days mountain biking on logging roads and quad paths. Not much single track but tremendous views from north and south mountains. We spent 35 days and plan on the same next summer. Many of the spots are seasonal folks with families. Sometimes pressed quiet hours to 11pm but quiet music, talking and laughter is kinda the thing on weekends. Silent weekdays. ​One of our favorites for down to earth folks and activities. read more

Overwhelming dog urine smell and no help from staff We stayed in one of the "condos" (bottom floor rose bud)and the experience was disappointing from the start. The place reeked of dog urine the entire time. There was no air conditioning and no screen door, so we couldn't even open the door to get some fresh air without letting bugs in. A week before our arrival I specifically called to confirm this was not a dog-friendly property and was told there were absolutely no dogs allowed in the condos. That clearly wasn't the case. We reported the smell to staff. They admitted they already knew about it and said they would call us with a solution. No one ever called. We ended up going to the store ourselves for carpet freshener and a kids-and-pets odor eliminator, then had to ask for a vacuum (which they did provide). None of it made a meaningful difference. The second bed was in the living room right in the middle of the urine smell, so the other couple we were sharing the condo with slept in their car both nights. Would not recommend. The property needs to address the odor issues properly and communicate honestly about the condition of the unit. read more

I wouldn't recommend this is place at all. There's many reasons. It smelled like cigarettes covered with lemon pledge. It's NOT really clean. It's was cleaned but it wasn't actually clean. There was non existent detail cleaning. All the bedroom furniture had dust built up around it, dead bugs in the nightstands the box spring fabric was torn and hanging down. There was items left behind the dresser and bed. (With the half inch of dust.) there was a random door inside the bedroom that didn't belong to that condo. The fridge barely kept anything cold even though it was on the coldest setting, there was food left in the cupboard from the previous people. All the tables and benches were super loose and wiggly. The grills that were left outside for use were not clean, weren't connected properly or maintained so there was always propane leaking out, which could of been dangerous but what made it even more dangerous was the bigger propane tank that was just feet away from the leaking grill. The air conditioner unit had been previously used on the dehumidifier setting but never emptied out. There was water that would spritz you so when we emptied it out because apparently maintenance is also something that is non existent there, we got two full cups of black chunky mold water out of it. The exhaust hose on the back of it wasn't connected really and was letting half the exhaust out into the condo. Someone had an used duct tape around it that didn't hold instead of buying a new hose. The lamp on the fireplace would randomly just turn off and on and it was kinda freaking all of us out. There was also a little bat that got stuck somehow in between the screen and door and apparently that was most exciting thing because we had a crowd of like 8 people staring up at our window. I've read all the reviews about the manager and owners and while she never did anything crazy to us, I could definitely tell the other reviewers weren't lying because she is Karen managers manager. Queen Karen. When we got there she was out harassing someone about not wearing a life jacket. Unsafe but also there choice. She had a attitude about her that I wasn't fond of. There's no customer service skills at all. No one greets you or even acknowledges your existence. The dude that works there looks like a major drunk. There was no catching fish for us because of the people that worked there or live there that created wake constantly in a no wake zone. Overall, i just wouldn't even think about going here. No not worth what we paid. We left a day early even. Didn't even ask any refund because it wasn't even worth the hassle of speaking to them. read more

We arrived around 3:30pm on 07/06/2023 (Thurs). We were greeted by a lady who gave me the key to Coyote cabin (Loft Cabin 3). I opened the door and realized right away, this was not the cabin we had booked on 08/02/2022. I went back up to the office and explained this was not the cabin in the pictures and the lady at the counter said that's what we booked. I went onto their website and showed her the cabin we booked (Loft Cabin 1 "Willow"). She called the owner on the phone (which we later found out was Jamie) and explained the situation. As we walked up to the front of the store, she said I would need to wait for about 10 minutes while Jamie gets back to the office. I said okay and went outside and waited. After about 10-15 minutes, I went back up to the office and tried to speak with Jamie. I explained to her the situation and she was very disrespectful, confrontational, and kept walking away from me. I asked her how the cabin could be booked when it was available online when we initially booked a year ahead of time. This was for a family reunion, in which was our first time. She explained she wouldn't do anything about it. I then asked again, how is it that the cabin was available online if it was actually already booked for that period, she rudely yelled, "I'LL JUST GIVE YOU A REFUND AND YOU CAN JUST STAY THERE!! WE HAVE NOTHING ELSE FOR YOU. WHAT'S WRONG WITH SLEEPING ON A FUTON?? THERE'S PLENTY OF BEDS IN THE CABIN!" After attempting to continue speaking with her (telling her I could not walk up the steps to the loft to sleep on the regular bed, etc.) with no regard to continuing to rectify the situation, I went back outside. I let the family know what had happened and we started to unpack our things in the cabin. Our relative went back inside to speak with Jamie again. After awhile, he came back outside and said there's nothing she will do for us. After some time, my husband went inside to speak with Jamie about getting a refund and speaking with her about being disrespectful towards myself and our family. He came back outside and said he tried to figure it out but she was yelling at him. She then opened up the office doors, walking really fast towards us, and started yelling saying we paid $150 a night and the other cabin is $160 a night and repeating herself from what she continued to say earlier. She accused my husband of verbally abusing her and bringing another customer into the situation. I told her she was very disrespectful towards me and running a business with that kind of customer service was not acceptable. I then told her I was done speaking with her and didn't care to hear anything else and she walked off. After inspecting the cabin, we found out the A/C unit was broken and a portable one was placed in the kitchen, which took up the entire space of the kitchen, the shower was not cleaned, the coffee pot still had old coffee in it with the used Folgers coffee sitting on the counter, some of the plugs didn't work, the porch light didn't work, and the floors were not swept or cleaned. Since we were not placed in the cabin we originally were supposed to be in, we had to purchase blankets and pillows, there was no stove, no oven, no full fridge with freezer, and not the proper beds or bedding. We checked out a day early (07/09/2023 @ 11:00am) because our back pain became so unbearable, we couldn't sleep there another night. The owner Jamie was completely rude the entire time. We couldn't come to them with things wrong in the cabin because Jamie yelled at us just for asking questions about why we weren't in the correct cabin. While looking up rates of the cabins, the vary all the time and it's not consistent so when she said we didn't pay for the Willow cabin, I knew she was lying (proof is in the email confirmation!). Wow! I needed a place for a two day retreat and I'm glad I chose Deer Lake resort. Even though there were lots of RV'ers, fishermen, and cabin campers like me there, it was a relatively quiet place. I appreciated the cozy little cabin with a well stocked kitchenette where I was able to enjoy pancakes in the morning. The front window opened up to a beautiful view of the lake, and I enjoyed watching the boats and waves while sitting at a rustic table with a cup of herbal tea. The bed and pillows seemed like they were brand new--I got great sleep! So comfortable! Jamie and David made my trip pleasant from booking until finish. I had a great time! Deer Lake Resort, First of all I want to thank you for the use of your facility to commence our beautiful day. When I first saw the wedding photos the resort had posted on Facebook, I fell in love. I knew immediately that is where Jeff and I were meant to join our lives together. We came to visit on a chilly late fall evening, fell even more in love. We booked the venue! We planned for almost a year to facilitate our I DO day. The days ticked away and as the event grew closer, the the invitations went out and my family all booked rooms/cabins to join in on this beautiful celebration. As the event neared I was informed of an extreme level of unprofessionalism from friends and family, reservation phone calls not being returned, and inconsistent information being given out. I assured them it was the perfect location for our day and I promised them once they saw it, they would agree. Well It literally breaks my heart to say that I was wrong. My wedding weekend was beautiful, because we chose to make it beautiful. However I am HIGHLY dissatisfied with the quality of our stay and rental at your facility. EAGLES NEST For starters, when we arrived, we never got to check in. Never once. Just handed a key to the house, and NOT the venue. We were even locked out of the venue at one point, as well as not having the ability to lock the building after we finished decorating. To boot, it was filthy. Dead flies in the windows and smudges all over the glass. After spending several thousand dollars for this location, I would expect to at least have a clean slate to work with, not be running to the store for windex and Clorox wipes and then scrubbing it to get it in decent shape. In addition, 5 days before my wedding, the deck was stained, while we were decorating. I informed Jamie I would be up to decorate on Tuesday before the wedding and was told that would be ok. I arrived to the front doors taped shut. Not to mention ALL of the individuals with ruined clothes from the railing not being dry before the wedding day. Including mine and my sons wedding clothes. In addition none of the trash cans or rugs were returned to the original pre-painting location. When I inquired about that I got a sour attitude and trash bags thrown onto my decorations from resort staff. I should also mention that Friday afternoon, less than 24 hours til I had guests arriving I was approached by Jamie and informed they would be painting the doors and we weren't to touch them. When I asked if she was serious her response was "well he's here" I expressed that we already had several people, with pictures of ruined clothes to prove it, and I didn't think it was the right time. She agreed and said she didn't want to overwhelm me. They knew our event was coming for almost an entire year. My question is why would they wait til the RAINY week before my wedding to paint the facility?! COWBOY RENTAL My mother stayed in one of the places above the store. Upon checking in and unloading into her PAID FOR room, someone walked directly in to her room, without knocking or announcing themselves at all! She explained she was "Dave's Mom" and when my mom asked who Dave was she said "Dave's my son, I own this place, I'll go where I want." That is a terrible way to do business and I hope this woman understands how unprofessional and creepy that is. We then overheard Dave and this woman arguing down below spewing profanity every other word, even with kids running all over the campground. My cousin stayed in the room right next to the cowboy. When he went to use his oven, it had a tray of forgotten tater tots from who knows how long ago still inside the oven!!! We also received several complaints from other members staying on the grounds. Safety lights burnt out, and the bbq included in the rental not working! WILD ROSE RENTAL My husband and I rented the Wild Rose for our stay. Once we got settled in and I went to plug my phone charger into and outlet, a hair riddled brush was found laying down there under my nightstand. A nightstand next to a bed I am supposed to be sharing with my husband on our wedding weekend!!!!! It was so disgusting. By the way, It's still there if you are wanting to check! Also we had to strip the sheets as I am fairly certain the sheets were not cleaned, as the beds weren't made and looked slept in. Deer Lake Resort will always hold a special place in my heart for the beauty and tranquility it holds, and how I felt that first visit, and now memories of our wedding day. I had to make the choice to look past the unprofessional demeanor and disgust and make it what I envisioned. I only hope that your resort will realize how much better it can do! So much potential but we felt little effort. I only share this to hopefully shed some insight on this location and potentially save another bride the exhaustion and heartbreak. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would!!! let's first start with the fact I paid $1200 for the top and bottom house of the weekend of September 3-6 2020 it was supposed to have ac because it was hotter then hell in there,a gazebo and patio area it had none of these they failed to mention this said they had it even when I called the day before to confirm my reservation! My black guests were treated horribly looked at by their white regulars staff and owners like they were disgusted by them they accused 2 of them of kidnapping their own daughter cuz she was crying about leaving the park, they had concerts and blasted their music with screaming people everywhere till 3 am but me and one of my guests got into a dispute and got a little loud at 12pm and the next day the owner showed up as I was pulling in after coming back from the store he saw me I saw him I said hello can I help you I was about a foot away from him he ignored me and tried to walk in I repeated my self and he went around to still try to come in and look thru the windows he yelled at me that we will be kicked out of anything like that happens again after apologizing very nicely they shut the wifi off on us while we still had 2 days left there.. we walked down to the beach and was asked by several regulars why we were going down there and what we were going to do down there..I'm swim we had 8 kids with us what else we gana do down there.. the morning we were to leave 2 crack headed maids pulled up walked into the locked maintenance door and legit shut the power off on us when we still had 4 Hours there left a guest was in the shower and we had to pack everything up in the dark the maids sat on their golf cart by that door and waited for us to leave so they could go in there and clean! To make matters worse 3 days later after the racist horrible ordeal we had to endure from the owners and regulars the owners wife called my phone and accused us of stealing 2 '70's throw pillows a top sheet to a bed and a towel!!! I lost it on her and she said that's what the maid said and she will double check with her and I haven't heard a word sense.. so without actually going up to the house to check she is going to call and accuse us of stealing their stuff we don't need to steal anything from them that was a waist of 1200 SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSE WHERE read more

Drove 90 minutes to spend the day here and was severely disappointed. The employees were extremely rude to us. We were not tenants at the resort, but did not know they were a "tenant only" beach. Along this property they have advertising for day passes to be able to spend time on the beach. The service workers told one of our pals that they out too crowded for us to buy a day pass, but then told me that they have not been doing day passes for 4 years. False advertisement. read more

Another great 4th of July Fireworks show even though the weather wasn't the best but amazing job getting it setup and all the live music was also good. I've already booked for next year and probably many more weekends before the summer ends. This was 1st year staying in the RV park and was great! Just returned from a 3 night stay. I have to say I was very disappointed. We weren't able to come here last year due to family health issues, so I wanted to make it special for the grandkids this year. First let's discuss price. $45 a night for one vehicle and two tents. The extra vehicle is $5.00. Now we're at $50 a night. Our site was "in the woods". Site W7 was small and close to other campers.We were told they were sold out, All camp sites had been reserved. Not true, the site we had stayed at previously was vacant all weekend, as well as, 5 other sites! Two porta potties close to site. Ground was uneven, not tent-friendly. Bring yellow jacket traps, the bees are crazy bad. Beach - the beach area is nice, with picnic tables on the lawn. The bees are here, as well. There is an inflatable pyramid that my grand children talked about on the drive up. They shared their memories of it to their friends. Going to the top, doing a back flip, fun stuff. In the lagoon there is a dock and the inflatable pyramid. The staff catered to 12 and under, meaning, the pyramid that had 3 levels for jumping and a weight limit of 800 pounds, could be used by over 14, as long as there weren't little kids on it. Once the little kids, with life jackets came on, out came the megaphone. They have to come up with a better system. A sign in sheet, a time frame, something. If you can't swim to it, play on the dock, that's in the water. The grandkids maybe played on it for 15 minutes a day! Preferential treatment- We rented 2 paddle boards for two hours and were told we couldn't use it in the lagoon, not even to gain stability or balance. They'd never used one. Not a big deal, they had fun. The kids did make a comment when they saw the owners friends have three paddle boards in the swimming area! We won't be coming back which is a shame. My conclusion, this resort is family fun, providing your children are 8 and under, you and your family are tucked in by 9, memories of camping aren't made by the campfire, telling ghost stories or looking up at the stars. So I pulled into a parking spot and the sign said 15 min and store customers only, so I decide to go in and shop for a tank top.... walked in my kids asked for ice cream and I said, "no, because we don't eat in the car and we're leaving soon," the cashier said " wow, you're not a fun mom" first five seconds in the store and that's how we were greeted, we turned around and walked out. I left my parking spot and went to the boat ramp to wait for my husband to be done loading the boat after paying to use that dock only to be chased down by this woman (kathy) in a golf cart- I explained what I was doing and she clearly didn't believe I was waiting for my husband and had such a rude attitude. At this point I had had enough and decided to speak with a manager about this poor customer service - the manager actually said she wasn't going to do anything because they are always dealing with rude and inconsiderate people at the resort, she interrupted me to say this and then told me I was the rude one. Needless to say I don't recommend the resort store and won't be spending any money there. What a sad experience. read more

I love: how manicured and well-kept the tent sites are, the staff presence (they are all over it - checking in, helping you find your spot, emptying trash, taking care of nuisance neighbors), the amenities (store, coffee stand, hot weekend breakfast, games at the beach), and the price ($45 per night for a large campsite - I haven't stayed in the RV area or cabins). read more

Deer Lake resort is a nice resort and is kept up nicely. Our first impressions of the owners were very impressive, they seemed very friendly, welcoming and very helpful. But the owner of the place Dave is very unprofessional, we were camping there this last weekend with another family. We were sitting around our campfire playing cards and talking when Dave pulled up to our campsite obviously intoxicated. He was belligerent and he started to yell obscenities at our children. We got him to leave, he then returned about an hour and a half later on his golf cart damaging two of the vehicles at our campsite. He was yelling obscenities again, he got off his golf cart and was so intoxicated that he fell on one of our personal camp tables smashing it. He then got in a physical altercation physically assaulting members of our party. Come to find out that this is all after crashing through the campsite next to us, running over their tent. I do want to remind you this is the owner of the resort. They refused to refund any of our money or pay for any of the damages which have come to over 3,000 dollars in repairs to the two vehicles.and for an excuse for his actions we were told he had a bad day and was drinking vodka. Found this little Gem hidden less than an hour north of home. This place at first had me a little leery thinking spots were too close, but the quality of ownership n residents totally changed my perception within hours. Cannot say enough good things about the ownership, they were on top of everything, even opening up the store after hours for a last minute forgotten item. We will definitely be back! read more

Disappointed. Haven't even been there yet, and already not looking forward to it. I sent an email query to them via their website about a group event - since the website specifically advertised a group area. Four days later no response. So I called, talked to a lady and explained the our organizations interest to reserve the group area. She indicated that she would have to take this to "Dave." and that He would call right back. Five days later, still no response. If they were completely booked and didn't have room for us, I could understand that - if they had told me. However, that courtesy was not extended. I selected only one star because you can't submit review unless the business receives at least one. Unbelievable. read more

Yeah, this lake is gorgeous but they charge $6.50 a person and there's really nothing amazing about this resort. The country store sucks, no bathrooms on the beach, employees are rude and there was so many people we didn't enjoy ourselves. Not worth it. I'd rather pay $3 at Waitt's read more

Fantastic vacation spot! The cabins and RV sites are nice and the meadow and beach area are great to enjoy in the summer months. The employees are so friendly and treat you very well. The little store has lots of little stuff for your camping needs and they even serve an amazing breakfast on the weekends during the summer (omelets, pancakes, biscuits and gravy). They also have an espresso stand and hand scooped ice cream. There is so much to do to keep you busy( miniature golf, kayaks, hiking, boats, etc..) if that's what you like or just kick back with a drink on the lake. There are so many regulars that come every year and stay for the season that it's a good idea to make reservations early to ensure availability. read more

This was one of the best places we have gone to for our annual family reunion. The resort is well maintained and has a great beach area with plenty of shade. We rented 4 cabins, the large house, 3 tc spaces and a couple tent sites. The owners and staff were very friendly and accommodating. The boat launch and dock rental space was perfect for the boat. We look forward to coming again soon. When we went the yellow jackets were pr celebrate but we had brought several traps and hung them around the areas we were gathering as a group and a couple of the cabin. Just returned from 4-day stay. It was not at all what was advertised on the website. My "lake view" included a row of permanent shanty shacks between me and the view. It was not well managed - hidden costs - kind of dumpy. The people were friendly enough but I think there are nicer places out there for the money. read more
