    Potty time!

If you are seeking a vet for any reason, Penryn Pet Hospital team is your place. The team at this practice extended the life of our precious boy. Four weeks ago I did not know if it was my precious fur-boy's last ride to the vet, yes, I was an emotional mess. Thank you Dr. Skylar Rich for all you have done. Your care extended our pup's life with quality of life! My husband and I cannot thank you enough for being a part of our Poncho's comfort and pretty much reversing his paw knuckling. God bless you and your team!

Beautiful new facility. I've taken my boys for labs and dentals. They boys love Dr Camille and the staff. I like that they are not a corporate clinic. I rather support small businesses.

Best Staff - Chloe and Ginny are amazingly thorough and compassionate. We found Penryn Pet Hospital because our regular vet could not see our two dogs after they had a dog fight over a treat. We live in Citrus Heights, but after a decade as loyal customers, our vet could not see our girls within a week of the incident. It wasn't an emergency, but they needed to be seen timely in case of infection. After contacting them, they were able to see us the next day. Our 15+ year old rescue Pomeranian was found to have taken the worst of the battle and would need to have some of her rotten teeth extracted. Penryn gave us a quote for the operation and understood our reluctance to pay huge sums of money for a dog close to the end of her life. The quote was $2500+ for 6 teeth to be extracted. But during the surgery, she needed 18 teeth extracted! I nearly passed out thinking about the upcoming invoice. Upon pick up, Penryn adjusted the price to $1800+. We could not have been more appreciative. The next month we adopted an older Papillon puppy. Penryn was running a special for neuters and the price was very reasonable. For $600+ Penryn was able to neuter, vaccinate, microchip, and clean our Papillon's teeth. After 6 months, we are beginning to transition all of our pets (3 dogs and 4 cats) to the care of the multiple vets at Penryn Pet Hospital. We will be leaving our local Vet in Citrus Heights in favor of better prices, better communication, and kinder and empathetic staff. We couldn't be happier to have found Chloe, Ginny, Jessie, Dr. Mays, and the other techs at Penryn Pet Hospital.

My kitty hurt her leg and her regular vet couldn't get her scheduled in what I deemed an acceptable length of time. I called Penryn Pet next, and they were able to schedule a last minute appointment. She had an initial new patient exam, X-rays and they kept her most of the day to accommodate my schedule. The attending vet communicated with me via phone throughout the exam process. I was satisfied with kitties care and the cost of the services provided. Nothing was broken- she's doing great now. A few weeks later it was decided by my family that a different kitty in the fam needed help crossing the rainbow bridge due to ongoing health complications and an increasingly poor quality of life. This process sucks- no matter what. It's heart-wrenching and terrible. I decided to give Penryn Pet try again instead of kitty's regular vet. I was blown away at the compassion and care ALL staff showed me and kitty. They were so kind and thoughtful from the moment I walked in. They allowed my emotional wreck of a self to stay with my kitty through the process and they didn't rush. The vet doing the deed took her time to explain the process with kindness and compassion. I've been through this horrific experience too many times to count, but this was by far the best worst experience. It was also $200 cheaper than the last time I went through this at a different vet. Huge Thank you to Penryn Pet for taking such good care of my kitties.

Bo & Jack fell asleep at the vets!

He is compassionate, thorough, and genuinely cares about his patients. I've also had good experiences with one or two staff members, but unfortunately my interactions with much of the rest of the staff have been disappointing. My dog, Bodhi, had surgery at RAMC in July 2025 to remove several lumps. During surgery, Dr. Singh found another lump within the same incision site, removed it, and didn't charge me for the additional removal. I truly appreciated his thoughtfulness and care. At Bodhi's bandage removal appointment, a younger male technician handled the visit. I asked to stay with my dog, and he agreed. The bandage was adhered tightly, and although he initially used adhesive remover, he quickly became impatient and began ripping the bandage off. Bodhi was clearly uncomfortable, and I left wondering how he would have been treated if I hadn't been present. I returned in September 2025 for another FNA, and once again Dr. Singh was excellent. In early June, Bodhi needed another FNA. Because of my previous experience, I requested that the same technician not handle my dog. Dr. Singh understood my concerns and was very reassuring. A week later, Bodhi was diagnosed with lymphoma. After discussing my options, I initially considered less invasive treatment before deciding on palliative care. Dr. Singh had advised me to stop Apoquel because lymphoma was suspected, so Bodhi spent nearly two weeks suffering from severe itching while I weighed my options. I contacted the office to ask about Laverdia, an oral chemotherapy medication. I was told they had spoken with Dr. Singh, ordered the medication, and would contact me when it arrived. They also recommended seeing an oncologist, which was difficult because appointments and callbacks took several days. I never received a follow-up. After six days, I reached back out because I had no choice but to start Bodhi on prednisone due to his worsening itching and enlarging lymph nodes. In that same email, I also requested refills for his prednisone and gabapentin since I was only given a 22 day supply. Again, I received no response. Maybe they eventually would have answered if I had continued calling or emailing, but by then I had lost confidence in the staff. I was left wondering whether I would have made different treatment decisions had someone simply followed through with the communication they promised. Aside from one longtime veterinary technician, I also found the front desk staff to be cold during one of the hardest moments of my life. I wasn't expecting sympathy, but a few kind words would have meant a great deal. Dr. Singh is the reason this review is three stars instead of one. He treated Bodhi with compassion and treated me with empathy throughout this difficult process. Unfortunately, the lack of communication and follow-through from the rest of the staff overshadowed an otherwise positive experience. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I felt this one was important. When a family is facing the loss of a beloved pet, timely communication matters. I hope this feedback encourages RAMC to improve so other families don't experience the same frustration during such a difficult time.

There was no effort made to verify the identity of the horse during the PPE appointment. Loomis Basin did not scan for a microchip, or look for a lip tattoo, or make an attempt to estimate the age of the horse based the teeth. Now I am attempting to get in touch with someone in the office about this. I have called four times in the last three weeks, and am still waiting to hear something from their management. This was a big error on their part, and they are not doing much to try and resolve the situation.

I highly recommend her. She's fair, patient, and reasonable. She understands the difference between helping the horse and also understanding when medical intervention is no longer "helping" the horse. I appreciate that so much. You prefer patients get medication at your clinic. So do I, you prescribed pregabalin for Tess that is hard to find, your clinic doesn't fill it and prices range from 300 down to 34. Chewy doesn't have it. All I needed was for your staff to ok the fill over the phone with no additional paperwork. This involved checking the prescription on the computer and authorizing it. They said no twice even after contacting a manager. 2. You were Charlie's PTP. You had all his records, ordered tests and handled some of his routine follow-up while he was being treated at UC Davis. We spent thousands of dollars at your clinic on Charlie for tests. UC Davis indicated within 5 minutes of me taking him there that he had a pronounced heart murmur. He had been seen at your clinic only one week before. I don't know if you listened to his heart, but Davis was very surprised that our vet had not caught the murmur. Charlie had endocarditis, we will never know if catching it earlier would have made any difference but the endless scans to his abdomen and numerous blood tests were financially very difficult and in the end heartbreaking and unnessary. I would have appreciated if some common sense could have been used given Tess" prescription as what you prescribed is not easy to obtain, and that a more thorough routine exam of Charlie could have been done prior to running expensive tests. These pets are loved family members. Thank you
