My Pittie had a cracked toenail which caused bleeding. I called Lincoln Pet Clinic @8AM. I asked if they could see her and if there were any appointments available. They did! They had one at 9 AM. I brought her in and luckily, she was the only one dog there. She's very reactive and she wouldn't be a fun patient to have in the waiting area. My pup was really anxious and was wanting to leave. The assistant noticed how anxious she was and let us go back in the room to wait. Dr. Ahrens was very compassionate, she said that due to my dog being so anxious, they needed to sedate her in order to fix her nail. I let her know that she also had something stuck in the webbing of her right paw. Along with the broken nail in the left paw. I asked her what the cost would be, she had the assistant bring me the cost breakdown. I was actually relieved at the final cost. We have past horror stories for our Maltese (RIP) with other vet's offices and we would leave feeling ripped off. Not here! The estimate was very reasonable and not outrageous! They had me pay half up front and remaining balance when I picked her up. Dr. Ahrens called after the surgery and let me know everything that was done to my pup. I picked her up about five hours later and they sent us home with all her meds. What I really appreciated about Dr Ahrens was that she recommended and prescribed a medication for my dog to take so she wouldn't be so stressed and anxious at these visits. I told her that I've tried calming chews (CBD snacks) I found online and that didn't work. It was a relief to get a professional opinion about her anxieties. I'm so glad we gave Lincoln Pet Clinic a visit. We couldn't be more happier! Dr Ahrens and the staff were very friendly and professional.

We bring all four of our cats here & we are so thankful to have found a vet in this area that feels like home. They compassionately help us through each cat's needs, random sicknesses, and have helped us navigate through feline diabetes & kidney disease. They've offered hugs while I've cried & they always listen to all of my concerns and questions and respond with so much knowledge. From Michelle at the front desk to Leah and the other techs we worked with to all the vets here, you will be happy with everyone at LPC. Louie, Gracie, Little & Couch love LPC & we do too!

September 20, 2020…read more Dr. Venable and staff at Sterling Pointe Vetrinary, My name is Erin Justus and I wanted to let you know how happy and thankful we are after receiving the PRP treatment for our beautiful long hair shepherd, Maui. Maui is only 5 years old and started showing trouble getting up, limping, and discomfort. She could not even make it one time around our neighborhood for a walk, could not jump in the car, could not run and retrieve her beloved ball. She lost all zest for life, and it was so sad to watch her move like a 15 year old dog. We often cried with the thought that we would have to put her down because of her pain. We had looked into hip surgery but the cost was too expensive for us. Remember, Maui is only 5 years young! My daughter-in-law told me about Sterling Point Vet and the PRP treatment that they do to help dogs with hip dysplasia and lameness. We scheduled an appointment for a consultation with Dr. Venable and she felt Maui could benefit from the treatment. On August 6, 2020 Maui had her PRP treatment and within 2 days she was feeling fine, not needing any pain pills, and showing improvement, not only in her ability to get up a little better, but the look in her eyes that she was free from her discomfort! Within, 2 weeks, she was stretching out her back legs when she got up in the morning, which she was never able to do before( she would try in the past but she just couldn't do it). She is now walking, jumping in the car, chasing the ball, and full of life as a 5 year old shepherd should be! We are so thankful for Dr. Venable and the staff and the success of the PRP treatment, we would recommend this to any one who has a dog struggling with hip dysplasia. Thank you so much, Dr. Venable, we are eternally grateful for educating us about this treatment, the cost effectiveness of it, and your help in giving Maui her life back!! Sincerely, Erin Justus Roseville, CA

As time went on, however, it feels like we only became a money pool for them. Our dog began to have recurring skin & ear issues. We were told 3 different ways to clean him by 3 different people who worked here, but none of these treatments worked. In fact, they made it worse. We ended up figuring it out on our own, which is unfortunate being you would hope a vet would be able to give experienced advice, let alone 3 of them. We overlooked this as the business was always very kind and seemed to have our best interest in mind. As his skin and ear issues became worse, despite our best efforts, the only thing we walked away with every visit was a $300-$400 bill and the same medication that basically just kept the issues from getting worse. Finally, after years of bills and medication / guidance that did not solve anything, we tried a different vet. They prescribed him medication and his skin and ear issues went completely away within a week. It is the first time in years we have seen his skin and ears look so good and he seems happier. I don't write reviews often but it sort of hit me that our dog had been dealing with medical issues for years and we trusted this place with setting us up for success to make sure we were getting our dog what he needed. Then, after thousands of dollars, a new vet solves everything in a single visit. Hopefully we are a one off. But I would not recommend this business.

Now, she has had many ear infections and I've always resolved it with a home remedy I found online. I did the home remedy the night before but she was still shaking her head in the morning. So, I called and they told me to bring her in. They were aware that they had never seen her and she was seen at another Vet in town. When I took her in, I made sure she had some muscle relaxers before her appt because she gets afraid. I also put an E-collar and a muzzle because she's a Pittie and people can be intimidated by her. When the two Vets came in, they wanted her records and the person scheduling appt never told me to bring one with me even though she was aware they had never seen her. So I was annoyed, because I would've brought that in with me. Then, they asked if she took anything for her anxiety and I told them I gave her Trazodone. Anyways, even with me holding her, and having a muzzle on, he didn't really try looking in her ear? She didn't show aggression or barking, she just wanted to go home because she was afraid. They said they would need to sedate her in order to get a closer look. So instead of treating her ear, they tried to sell me a $29/month wellness plan. I declined because she's super healthy and rarely goes to the Vet except to get her annual done. Since I declined, they offered to sell me meds, but I already have them at home, so I declined that. So long story short, I paid $94 for nothing. They didn't even mention anything about her ears except that if I had the wellness plan, I could bring her in unlimited times. Also, not to try the online remedies. Anyways, she was just fine after we got home, the home remedy had finally kicked in and age was ear infection free!

Nomination for Veterinarian of the Year: Dr. Sukeep Kaur, DVM…read more Rocklin Ranch Veterinary Hospital For more than fifteen years, Dr. Sukeep Kaur has been one of the quiet, steady forces holding up the animal‑welfare community in Placer County. Her impact is profound, yet she rarely speaks of it. She simply shows up--day after day, year after year--offering her skill, compassion, and time to the people and pets who need her most. Dr. Kaur is known throughout our region as a veterinarian who leads with her heart. She routinely provides free spay and neuter surgeries for low‑income families and for individuals who have no means to pay. She never advertises this generosity; she simply steps in when she sees a need. For many pet owners, her kindness is the difference between keeping a beloved companion or surrendering them. For countless cats and kittens, her willingness to help has prevented suffering and reduced the number of unwanted litters entering local shelters. Her partnership with Kitten Central--our nonprofit neonatal veterinary hospital--has been invaluable. For over fifteen years, Dr. Kaur has been the person we call when emergencies arise, when a fragile newborn kitten needs immediate intervention, or when we face a medical question that requires expert insight. She has never once turned us away. Her guidance has saved lives that would not have survived without her. One of the most meaningful examples of her community impact is her involvement in Senior Saturdays, a monthly outreach program she participates in with one of our board members. Together, they visit nursing homes and assisted‑living communities, bringing small, gentle kittens for residents to hold and interact with. These visits are more than a moment of joy--they are therapy. Residents who seldom speak begin talking. Those who rarely smile light up. Individuals with memory challenges become calm and engaged. Dr. Kaur handles each kitten with tenderness and each resident with dignity, creating a bridge of comfort between generations. Her presence transforms the room. Despite her extensive volunteer work, Dr. Kaur maintains a demanding professional schedule. She works four days a week at one Rocklin Ranch location and fills in at their other practice whenever a veterinarian is sick or on vacation. Most people would call that exhausting. She calls it relaxing. Her dedication to her profession is matched only by her love for the animals and families she serves. What makes Dr. Kaur truly exceptional is not just the number of hours she gives, but the spirit in which she gives them. She never seeks recognition. She never asks for credit. She simply believes that helping animals--and the people who love them--is her responsibility as a veterinarian and as a member of this community. I am certain that what I know of her contributions is only a fraction of the whole. Her humility means that much of her good work happens quietly, without fanfare. But the impact is unmistakable: healthier pets, supported families, comforted seniors, and a stronger, more compassionate community. For her unwavering service, her extraordinary generosity, and her deep commitment to both people and animals, Dr. Sukeep Kaur deserves to be recognized as Veterinarian of the Year. Her work has touched thousands of lives, and our community is immeasurably better because of her.

The veterinary technician (an older woman with short hair and tattoos; I didn't catch her name) interrupted my explanation of my dog's bloody stool and assured me that the stool sample I brought in would provide all the necessary information. She told me that photos and additional details were unnecessary. The lab results later came back negative, but my dog continues to have blood in his stool, so it's possible that the additional information could have been helpful. The following morning, I was informed that the test results were negative. I explained that my dog was still experiencing the same symptoms and was told that the veterinarian, Dr. Stephen Harris, would call me shortly to discuss possible causes and next steps. That was yesterday, and I have yet to receive a call. The only communication I've received since then was an automated text message asking me to complete a survey and leave positive feedback about their services. I was also concerned about some of the charges on my bill. When I asked the Vet Tech about an "Ear Cleaning - Difficult" charge, despite my dog being muzzled and sedated during the procedure, the technician could not explain why it was applied. She ultimately changed it to a standard ear cleaning charge. The price difference wasn't significant, but it raised concerns about the accuracy of the billing. Overall, the lack of communication, dismissal of important information about my dog's condition, and questionable billing practices left me with a negative impression. I would recommend that anyone visiting this clinic carefully review their invoice and ask for explanations of any charges they don't understand. I don't even do yelp reviews except to help small businesses, but when they asked for a positive review after all that I decided to give them an honest one.

Chewy doesn't have it. All I needed was for your staff to ok the fill over the phone with no additional paperwork. This involved checking the prescription on the computer and authorizing it. They said no twice even after contacting a manager. 2. You were Charlie's PTP. You had all his records, ordered tests and handled some of his routine follow-up while he was being treated at UC Davis. We spent thousands of dollars at your clinic on Charlie for tests. UC Davis indicated within 5 minutes of me taking him there that he had a pronounced heart murmur. He had been seen at your clinic only one week before. I don't know if you listened to his heart, but Davis was very surprised that our vet had not caught the murmur. Charlie had endocarditis, we will never know if catching it earlier would have made any difference but the endless scans to his abdomen and numerous blood tests were financially very difficult and in the end heartbreaking and unnessary. I would have given two stars for the medical aspect, but they made a financial mistake, refused to fix it, and are now actively lying about it. During the exam, I pointed out my cat's birth deformities to help the vet get to know her, including two nails that are weirdly wide. The vet casually mentioned they would trim them and immediately moved on to discussing hyperthyroidism without asking for my consent (for the nail trim). Because of this, I made sure to explicitly decline the nail trim when the technician later went over the itemized list of procedures and costs. I also declined a cystocentesis and an ultrasound. The technician verbally acknowledged my refusal with an "Okay" and continued down the list. Unfortunately, the technician failed to remove the $24 nail trim charge from my bill. When I pointed this out at checkout, I was told the only person who could remove the charge was out of the office. Today, I received a letter refusing my refund. The clinic claims the nail trim was "discussed throughout the appointment, verbally authorized, and completed." This is a blatant lie. Me pointing out my cat's anatomy is not the same as authorizing a service. I explicitly said NO to the technician, and he ignored my request. Mistakes happen, but refusing to refund a client for an unauthorized service and fabricating a narrative about "verbal authorization" to keep $24 is incredibly dishonest. I will not bring my pet back to a clinic that lies to its clients.

Worse, she did not recognize the symptoms of a bad reaction to methimazole and for nine months kept telling us that "methimazole won't do this, keep giving it to him." After nine months of multiple increasingly severe side effects we saw an animal dermatologist who diagnosed PF (pemphighs foliacious) an auto immune disorder. At this time we did our own research and found that methimazole can cause auto immune disorder in some cats and needs to be stopped immediately when signs occur. By the time we learned this, his immune system was attacking one organ after another treating each as a foreign invader. Massive lessions, weakness, inflamatory bowel disease, ulcers, and lymphoma came over the following months. Finally his immune system attacked his kidneys and he died of kidney failure three months later. Through all of this, many biopsies and ultrasounds and Xrays and consultations with specialists and a dozen medications (including gabapentin to limit the discomfort) could not save him. Disturbingly, this cat was never hyperthyroid. When we determined the methimazole was a problem and switched to a low iodine diet, he went severe hypothyroid. While his thyroid numbers were originally above the median, they were not high enough to be a problem and he should never have been given medication for hyperthyroidism. This cat was special. He was abused by his first owner (his first three years) but overcame his fear of people after a few months with us. He new 25 words and loved to hike with us in the mountains and deserts of the eleven western states. He never needed a leash and obeyed voice commands.
