Bought a used 250 Transit in March 2026 at auction with Pensky auctions. I searched the vin online checked the car-fax all came back clear. Picked it up and drove it home. Later I was driving and the cab filled up with smoke, someone had bypassed a blown 300a mega fuse under the seat with a piece of wire, could have burned the whole van down... Later I found the Van had been wrecked and taken to a hatchet job body shop, I pulled the headliner and saw someone had run it under something so they cut out the roof and glued in a new panel over the remains of the old one, never even primed the new panel so the white paint is peeling and didn't stick, the seam sealer looks like it was applied with a tongue depressor. None of this was noted on the vehicle or its history, the buying experience was good but the van is junk and not worth what I paid. read more

I bought a Ford Transit 250 from Penske auction and the vehicle seems to be just as stated and very good, The people that I spoke to and emailed with seemed very nice and helpful. On the site its says no hidden fees but that is not true. I was charged a $799.00 administrative fee, $4.00 electronic processing fee, $2.00 temporary tag fee and Other taxes $40.15 I am not sure what that is. so be aware that there are fees that I can not find disclosed anywhere. I keep seeing "pay what you bid no buyers fees or hidden fees". The only other thing is that they will call to make sure that everything is good and then try to pressure you into buying the warranty and when you dont they seem to get a bit less interested in you. read more

l bought a used Penske truck and complained about brakes and pulling to the right as soon as l got it back from to my office. They said l could take it 150 miles away to one of their preferred shops to get it looked at. No can do. Then the very first time l tried to use it the fuel pump modulator went out. Warranty company covers fuel pump but not the modulator. Now that it is at the shop l am being told that something else is broken and needs to be replaced. l have not even used this truck one time since l bought it over 2 months ago. l have called several times and Penske just keeps saying that it was properly maintained and everything was perfect when l took it home. l have been in business for 33 years. My biggest mistake in all those years was buying this truck. The second biggest mistake was buying the overpriced extended warranty that they highly recommend. Warranty company basically covers nothing. l asked for a different truck and they said no. l have always known that Uhaul did not maintain trucks very well, now l know that Penske does not either. Bought a commercial van from Penkse in July of this year. Everything went fine accept Premier finance added GAP insurance to my account. I contacted Premier Finance (Wes Faust) to get the Gap insurance removed and a refund ($1541) for the insurance added. He stated he will check into and get back with me. I waited a week and emailed him again.........he totally ignored me until I filed a complaint against the company and emailed the exec team at Premier Finance and within a week the premium was refunded. Bought a transit from them to find out after receiving it that the car had the roof replaced and painted all around , had that be all .. ended having to rebuild the rear differential, wheel bearings ,replace rotors,pads, etc. this part ended up costing me $4k+ and they reseted the check engine light before delivery because catalytic converter is bad and needs replacement which will end up being another $3-4k job all these one a 87k miles van , wish I would've read some reviews before buying from them . I received an email that the truck was being brought in the shop for prepping. They cover their ass by saying it could take 4 to 6 weeks. 09/01/2023. Received email from sales coordinator Nicole stating truck was coming into shop that day (BTW, Nicole was awesome throughout the entire process) and we would have a delivery date after the Labor Day holiday. 09/05/2023. Received email with estimated ready date of 09/12/2023. 09/13/2023. Received an email apologizing for the delay and stated they are waiting on a part. New ready date given 09/15/2023. 09/18/2023. Received an email stating only thing left is detailing inside and out and some painting on frame. 09/20/2023. Received an email stating truck was back from vendor and hoped to have ready next day. 09/22/2023. Received an email stating there was an open RO on the windshield. Replied back stating that I would have the windshield repaired/replaced, I needed the truck. * Side Note: nothing was done to the windshield...it wasn't cracked or chipped...it was leaking bad from the top. Later paid to have repaired. Received an email back stating the truck had not been paid for by the bank and they were requesting funding. Received an email stating funding was complete but still no one available to do the final inspection. 09/25/2023. Received an email stating the manager had been out with the flu and truck would be ready for pick up the next day. 09/25/2023. Received an email stating truck was ready for pick up. 09/26/2023 09:00. Given key to truck and discovered truck was empty on fuel...literally on E, with warning light on. Asked for enough fuel to insure i make it to truckstop. After listening to moaning and grumbling from manager he told employee to put some fuel in it. 09:38 got some fuel and headed out. Got on interstate and truck had a BAD vibration.... also pulling hard to the right to were I had to hold steering wheel to left to go straight and bracket for air deflector on top of cab had loose support bracket and deflector was shaking. Employee with CDL drove it and agreed there are serious issues so left it with them. 09/27/2023. Received an email stating truck went to vendor for alignment. 09/29/2023. Received an email stating truck was ready at alignment shop and they were picking it up and returning to repair the air deflector. * Side Note: later discovered the frame was bent so there was no way a proper alignment could have been done. I paid to have the frame straightened so that alignment could be completed by my tire dealer. 10/06/2023. Received an email stating air deflector was getting a new insert (by an outside vendor) and truck should be back 10/09/2023. 10/09/2023 4:47 pm. Received an email stating truck was ready for pick up. They didn't put much fuel in it first time I picked it up and I knew it had been driven to vendors for repairs so I asked they to please not give me the truck on empty. Picked up the truck...it was empty. Since taking possession of the truck I've done nothing but spend money on repairs, mostly due to poor maintenance. if you are interested in purchasing a used truck from Penske. I recommend that you take it to a certified mechanic before purchase. (SN: They wont allow that.) I've had my truck for six months and its been in the shop 3 times for approximately 75 days in the shop. this is unsustainable. this last repair is over 5K in cost and off the road for 3 weeks to repair. The inspection that Penske claims it does. worthless I picked my truck up from the Tampa office and just traveling less than 100 miles the transmission went and was down for repair the entire 21 day warranty period. another scam. I purchase a 2018 Freightliner with 250K miles and its been a nightmare. not to mention the cargo area leaks awful and you won't discover this until rainy season. Please heed this warning, they are very helpful until you make the down payment after that they don't even respond to your phone calls. Bought a 2018 freightliner M2 from penske a few months ago. After leaving the pickup a few miles away someone changed lanes and I had to hard break. The truck pulled to the right. Not thinking much about that, I continued my drive. Didn't have that issue anymore unless I hard break. Had my PA state inspection and that came back clean. A few days ago, during one of my pre-trip inspections i noticed that the slack adjuster moved a little. Took it to a penske shop and adk is someone could just take a sec and just look and let me know what is going on. I was told that the corporate office of to send them the go ahead to take a sec and look (not to work on it, just to look). The manager told be he could not do that nor would he send anyone. He gave me a number to call, they said they can't help me. Someone didn't look and told me that the truck should never leave the shop that way. The person that checked the truck should have made sure that the clip/chips were on properly. And knowing all of this penske is still saying "I'm sorry, but we can't do anything to assist" . Before getting the keys, the calls were returned, whatever was needed was taken care of. I feel as if they are only about help before the deal is closed. After that, you are on your own. I wish I could upload the pictures and a technician could be me if what they are looking at would happen under normal conditions... Feeling let down read more

The truck was dropped off to Freight-liner. The dealership sent Penske the invoice it was bad one box and fifth wheel. The price came up to $20K. They decided not to move forward with the repairs. I had choice to purchase another vehicle which we selected another truck was ready for pick up. I been waiting weeks for "Management Approval" to move money from one vehicle to the next. I dont care what needs to happen they have the funding. They want to keep you in Penske rental so they can keep making money off of you. Now, I dont want the vehicle my driver has left the company. Made a down payment in Oct 18, 2022 of $10k didn't receive inventory of truck until Nov 21, 2022. When I went to pick it up, the check engine light was on, the truck was listed on the website as "Exceeds DOT Expectations". They fixed the sensor that caused that, then it failed the inspection. They sent it to a shop and only authorized to have the minimum repaired. At this point the truck not is due and I have a truck that can't be registered. They are refusing to fix all four of the brake drums that are below minimum. If you want a over priced truck that inoperable this is the place to buy! read more

Be very careful when purchasing a used truck from Penske. They will try to sell you the extended warranty with NATIONAL TRUCK PROTECTION which is CRAP. NTP DOES NOT cover the transmission as a whole. If there is a certain piece in the transmission that goes out it is EXCLUDED from being covered. I pay $200 extra a month on my 26 ft. truck for no reason. My transmission went out and I had to pay out of pocket because the issue with the transmission was excluded. THE WARRANTY with NTP IS NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY. Keep your money is your pocket to pay repairs that may happen to your truck that NTP WILL NOT cover. NTP has horrible customer service. They DO NOT return phone calls. They only communicate through email and if you ask to speak to someone above the adjuster they don't call you either. DO NOT PURCAHSE the extended warranty with NTP. Penske works with them to get you to purchase the warranty by telling you all the things that are covered DON'T go into the things THEY DO NOT cover and that if you are not satisfied you can cancel at anytime WHICH IS ALSO A LIE. I called to try and cancel and was told I could cancel but would not be refunded at any money. Buyer beware Penske used truck is crap, after sales is a joke. We purchased a semi Tier 1, took delivery had 62 fault codes. The truck had Christmas tree lights on the dash, the vehicle had to be regenned three time we only had two days the next regen shut the vehicle down. Penske took the vehicle back for repair that took a month. Mind you we had to come out of pocket for a rental $5000 down and 1238 a week. After a month repairs we get the truck back have it for one day and the regen started again.4 times within 163 mile, we had to pull over for and hour for each Regen. We agreed to swap the semi for a different one they said we had to pay for own rental. Stay away from this company no help after the sale. read more

The application process was simple and the sales manager Jose Maradey contacted me quickly and notified me of my approval and next steps. I was then passed on to a Christian Holderman who introduced himself to me and said it would take up to four weeks to take position but it usually is sooner than the four weeks. Boy was he wrong; it has been passed a month and I still don't have the unit in my possession. Furthermore, getting Christian or Jose on the phone for status updates is nonexistent. Yes it takes a few weeks to buy a truck from them but that is communicated up front clearly. It's been 2 years since I bought my truck from them and the thing is still going strong. I purchased a used semi truck from Penske in August. We had the truck less than 24 hours and the check engine light came on. Penske had us take the truck to our local Freightliner where is sat for 2 months for Penske to decide to cover the repairs. Now 6 months and less than 10,000 miles on the truck it is needing another 18k in repairs. This tractor is not used to haul heavy loads it takes empty trailers back and forth. I paid for a 2012 Hino 268 in March. Got my papers in order. Bought insurance from them to cover anything that might happen on the road back in Ca Picked up truck in Boston. 3 hours after buying the truck a sensor went off forcing me to pull over. Def system needed to regenerate. The odds of this happening we're low since this supposedly happens once about every 50,000 miles. Couple hours later I'm back on the road. 2-3 days later. 72 miles outside Albuquerque truck breaks down. Def system. I'd drained it. Replaced it. None of it mattered. Truck wasn't moving. $700 tow it into Albuquerque shop. Called insurance warranty company. Useless. Gave me a tow company number. After having to tried to LA with no truck. Dear Penske Corp., Let me start off by saying how disappointed I am with this product, and that this was the worst experience the I have had in business to date. I have recently purchased four used tractors from there premium selection and have had issues with all of them. Let me be clear two trucks failed Maryland inspection. There were tire rod issues, the rear brakes needed to be replaced, blown headlight and multiple alarms on the dashboard that no amount of regen's could fix. These two trucks have been in the shop more than they have been on the road. The third truck did pass MD. State inspection (barely), but it started to have problems day twenty, just five days after the warranty ran out and is currently in the shop for a radiator leak and issues with the water pump and the check engine light is on. The fourth truck was so outrageously terrible that it has been to the mechanic four times in the last two months. I paid premium prices so I wouldn't have to deal with any of these types of issues from the start. My business has taken a loss due to your subpar trucks. I feel that I have been taken advantage of, lied to and cheated. I don't know if Im being treated this way because I am a minority business or the fact that I am a female owner, but I have checked with other businesses, and none have had the issues that I have had. So why have I been treated so unfairly? This is the third time that I have purchased a set (3 or more), but I guess customer satisfaction is not a priority for you, or again is it something personal against me, a small female owned, minority business? Penske used truck sales is one of the most unprofessional companies that I came across. The reps do not know their products at all. They listed the truck that they sold me as Level 1, but found out that it was in fact Level 2. In the inspection sheet that they gave me, it said Level 2. When I asked them if I can return it, they denied me by coming up with different reasons. I paid 65K for the truck and the truck was literally trashed after working for 2 months. Bought two Semi day cabs and so far so good. The only down sides are the delivery time from date of purchase. Seems like trucks should be ready to take after you purchase.
