Note there are two small parking lots both off highway before the tunnel if coming from 101. From the trail there are beautiful views of the mountains and the canyons. you can even see views of the ocean in malibu. when there is a wet winter season, you can see loads of waterfalls. my fellow hiker said she saw 18 falls. Worth visiting during the wet season. Just be careful. also note there is poisonous oak along the trail. Unfortunately in July the falls were all dry. There was some water in the creeks. As for amenities: there is a toilet at the start of the trail.

We came across many lizards and a rabbit in the 5 mile round trip hike. The trail itself has loose gravel in some areas and compact in others. The incline is a great one and we definitely felt it later in the day. It took us almost 2 hours and 10 minutes to complete and that was with stops along the way for photos. So many beautiful wild flowers right now and early morning fog was the perfect touch to our great hike! Enjoy.

According to All Trails, this hike is a moderately challenging route due to a steady uphill climb to the peak which is an elevation gain of over 1,000 feet high. This loop provides expansive views, cool rock formations (including partial caves for pictures) and various plants. Springtime is a great time to check out this hike with the bountiful plants in full view. On the trail, you can commonly see wildlife including snakes and lizards. Mind you the snakes blend in well- so be on the lookout. During springtime you will see baby snakes abound. Best to come in for the sunset (but people do start coming in at around 530pm-sh so can get crowded during this time). Zero shade along the way so be prepared with sunscreen and water! The trail is a little bit unkept probably due to covid (heard they closed down for a bit). But as of 07/27 all trails and parking lot are all open (even Paradise Falls).

Been here multiple times with my dog!…read more Park in the Ladera Linda Community Center. It's free parking! You'll have to walk a bit to get to the trails that are further in (past the gate) but it's worth it. The trails are clean and if you go early there isn't a lot of people. Can be overgrown in certain areas and path narrows. Some areas are steep as well. It also gets very dusty and sandy. The trails also connect to other trails (or Burma Trail) so you can really make the path as long or short as you want. I currently ride an AMFLOW eMTB, and my wife wanted something of her own so she could join the fun. On Sunday, we stopped by Trek Westlake Village and were greeted by Danny. I explained what my wife was looking for and some of the bikes we had considered in the past. Danny was incredible from start to finish. His communication, professionalism, and overall knowledge were outstanding. He took the time to give us a detailed overview of the brand, the store, and our options, and made the entire experience feel easy and enjoyable. The store itself is beautiful, well-stocked, and had everything we needed. They had the bike my wife wanted, although it still needed to be assembled, and she also picked up some accessories and clothing for her new bike. Danny even offered to have the bike delivered, but I decided to purchase a Kuat rack, which they also carried and helped build out for me. By Monday afternoon, everything was ready, and my wife could not have been happier with her choice. On pickup day, I also met Paul, who assisted Danny, and he was a pleasure to work with as well. We were able to get in a light 10-mile ride, and they truly made my wife's weekend. I can't recommend Trek Westlake Village enough. This was a fantastic hike - especially in the clear, cool weather we had today - at the top of the…read moretrail and Eagle Rock, we could see all the way out to Catalina Island and the Palos Verdes peninsula!! Wasn't expecting that! I found this hike when I was looking for trails with lighter traffic - it's inside Topanga State Park. It's the lesser traveled trail that gets you up to Eagle Rock and it's awesome! It was very lightly traveled - even on a Sunday!! I was so shocked! There were tons of people (and mountain bikers!!) on the heavier trafficked trail that takes you to the rock - and lots of people at the rock, but not on Musch Trail! No bikers at all - it's pretty narrow and rocky in places - and very few other hikers - and we even got there around 10am! The trail had a lot of shade - very cool temperatures and breezy. It was absolutely perfect! Lots of beautiful vegetation and trees. I think AllTrails might be a little off (again lol) - it says this hike is a loop at 4.4 miles with 921 feet elevation gain - but my fitness tracker says we did 5.5 miles, out and back (not a loop), and had only 763 feet of elevation gain. Took us about 3.5 hours - but we stopped for tons of pics and played around on Eagle Rock for quite while. Overall, for me, this hike was mostly easy for the first bit and then I'd say the last mile or so becomes moderate with the most elevation gain. There's a moment when you get up a hill and need to go right to get to the rock - but there's a wider trail to the left too - be aware on your way back bc we almost walked right past this turn to get back - it's kinda hidden! And we were chatting away and not watching too closely - luckily we spotted it in time! Eagle Rock itself is so fun!! It's very steep but the rock wasn't slippery so it was ok to walk up - just take your time and be careful. There's a cool cave to climb in to for pics too! I loved this hike!! Be sure to park at the main parking all the way up Entrada Road - I think it's the "Trippet Ranch" parking. We initially parked like a mile down below (at Dead Horse Trail I think) but that would've added 2 miles onto our hike. We paid $7 to park at the lower lot - then had to pay again at the actual lot - it was another $10!! They don't give you credit so plan ahead and don't make my mistake lol! They have good bathrooms at the trailhead and also about halfway in where the trail crosses the fire road so that was wonderful!! Easy to stay hydrated! Highly recommend this trail! It's become a fave!
