Super nice staff, wonderful massage chairs for pedicures, they provide water and coffee, it is a clean environment, and they listen and do what you ask. They were super busy so it did feel a little rushed. My polish job was subpar, super streaky and I ended up taking it off the next day, it needed three coats but they just didn't have time. My nails were also a little uneven, a few definitely had odd angles and weren't even. I thought it was ok, I'll try it again next time I'm there, as my sister and I do pedis when we get together, and I hope next time I'll be a fan. Very hostile environment. Terrible customer service. I went to Peony nails for over a year- getting a shellac manicure twice a month. Overall, their attention to detail is good and my nails would rarely chip when I got them done there; However, this was not enough to keep me going to Peony nails. Their customer service is GODAWFUL. I had noticed this over a series of time, but continued to go out of convenience. The first time I noticed this was when I walked in to get a shellac manicure. I told them I realized I didn't have an appointment, but was wondering if they could squeeze me in and finish a manicure within an hour. I politely mentioned that I had a baby shower to attend and I was in a hurry. They are normally pretty quick, so I figured they could do it if they had time. The nail techs said they could do it and quickly ushered me in and sat me in a chair. My nails were chipped and I was ready to get them done and looking nice for the shower. Usually, they start my soaking my nails to remove the previous shellac. This time they did not. Ten minutes went by... 15 minutes went by... 20 minutes went by... and no one even looked at me. Once I realized I only had 40 minutes to get a shellac manicure and my polish was not even off, I began to peel off what I could. By this time the polish was basically falling off, so I did not think it was a big deal. When they saw me peeling it, they yelled at me and sent a nail technician my way. Although I wasn't trying to cause trouble- I think they took it that way. The technician was CLEARLY annoyed with me. She was forcefully grabbing my hands and squeezing my fingers tightly as she worked on them and being pretty careless. I politely told her that she was hurting me and she grimaced and kept going. I WAS SO FURIOUS. The whole time she kept telling me my nails would look ugly because I had peeled off the polish myself. WTF!!! Whatever. I finished and tipped her (to avoid conflict) and left. That's NOT all. I STUPIDLY went back two weeks later because I was in a pinch and this time everyone seemed to be in an OK mood. Once I was seated the nail technician kept saying, "It's not good to peel off your own polish... your nails look ugly because of it." They did not. They looked completely fine and normal. I then asked her to cut my nails shorter than usual... the tech kept telling me my nails were "too short" and therefore, I looked like a boy which made my hands look ugly. She would not stop saying "Very short... Too short. Very ugly" the whole time she was working. ARE YOU F*N SERIOUS?! DID I ASK FOR YOUR OPINION?! Meanwhile, the lady next to me was asking for an ox-blood manicure with a matte-finish. Her rude nail-tech said, "No. That won't look good. That's ugly. Bad idea." I was appalled! Are YOU KIDDING ME?! That is NONE of the Nail Tech's business. If someone wants matte-red nails it is NOT their business to say how they think it will look. JUST DO IT. Honestly... these ladies need to learn a lesson and need to stop being so damn cocky. They are going to lose all of their business to nail salons that know the true meaning of customer service. Have gone here a few times and love it! Getting a manicure is always a last minute decision for me depending on when I can squeeze one in around errands and such... so the fact that Peony always feels abundantly staffed to accommodate walk-ins is exactly what I need. Really just try to get you in and out as soon as possible with low quality work. Me and my friends had an appointment set at 3:30 and no one was available and they took walk ins before they took us so we didn't receive service till around 4:10. I have at least 1 air bubble on all of my nails and the woman just said "that's the nail polish" -actually, that's just terrible work on your end. My friend got acrylics and all of her nails were crooked and thick. They didn't even cut her cuticles! I would NEVER recommend anyone to come here!!! read more

Peony's convenient to me, it's a great price for a totally decent pedicure, and its hours are pretty expansive, but after 3 visits, I think I'll be going elsewhere from now on. While there's nothing to reproach about their service, I don't feel especially welcome, and that's been consistent across multiple people and visits. I think my tips are pretty decent (I leave $5, always in cash, so that they do not have to record it). Everyone has different expectations, I suppose, and mine are quite low. I'll always attempt conversation, and will back off if there's no interest, or a prohibitive language barrier, and am also content to just loaf with my book or mobile phone if it's to be a silent performance. What I have less patience for is when the service professionals are obviously and disdainfully talking about my feet. I realize this is a common paranoia women feel when getting pedicures because not being able to speak or participate in an animated conversation happening in an unknown language can give rise to suspicion. However, in many scenarios I find it much easier to dismiss these thoughts as unfounded and paranoid. It's altogether different when they are pointing and gesturing at your feet and making angry chiding sounds, and when all three of them are staring at your toes while talking. Okay. So after years of dancing salsa in six-inch heels, my feet are probably about as comely as a ballerina's--though I cannot claim the latter's rigorous athleticism or ruthlessly disciplined physique. I'm sure my daily barefoot-shoe trail runs also don't contribute to a pearly-smooth, uninterrupted surface texture unblemished by the rigors of life as an upright animal. But you know what? That's what I'm there for--to take care of the feet I'm sporting, to the best of my ability, and really, even if my feet feel like the Budweiser horses' hooves, I think if you're in the foot business, it's best to just good-naturedly go about one's work. Because I'm perverse, I did enjoy imagining what they might be saying--for a while anyway. But it's not a compelling enough diversion that I want to repeat it anytime soon. So unprofessional it was alarming. Honestly not sure how these people stay in business. 1. Your business has "Spa" in the name of it...what is "Spa"-like about 10 women chirping at each other at the top of their lungs while they service you? Nothing. Stop the banter and quietly service your clients, please. I came because I wanted to relax and left with a headache. Also, even though I don't speak your language, it was completely obvious you were talking about the clients in front of you. 2. If you wanted to watch the football game then you should have stayed home. I know, I know...you had a cute pink Seahawks jersey on! That still doesn't mean I wanted you watching TV when you were scraping my feet with a sharp object or painting my nails, which you did an incredibly poor job of. Also, the hot stone massage to my tibia felt great. I wonder if you would have hit the right part of my leg if you were paying attention - probably not. 3. Your employees are RUDE. When you get nail polish all over the tops of my fingers and I politely ask you to remove it, please don't yell at me! This is your job, and if you wouldn't have been painting my nails while looking another direction then it wouldn't have been a problem anyway. Never, ever, ever going back. read more

Get a shellac manicure here. I've heard so much about this manicure and had to try. I had a positive experience as the staff was very welcoming. The space is clean and decorated tastefully and they gave me a mini bottled water before my manicure started. They also have perfectly placed flat screen tv so you watch tv during your treatment. The shellac manicure it's self was great; cleaned the cuticles well, shaped the nail, a hand and forearm massage, and the shellac nail polish application. The gal took the time to make sure that my cuticles were cleaned up just right before applying my french shellac. what is shellac? It's a polish that requires a process that uses a UV dryer between each polish application. It hardens the polish and you get a nice hard gel and glossy finish. I had a french manicure with shellac and love love it. So if you want a change from fake nails, this is a good alternative. I loved it here so much that I borough my Mom with me the second time and we had our pedicures. What I appreciated is that the staff quoted us a realistic wait time. Not this 5-10 minute action and you wait 30+ mins. So my Mom and I were able to run out and do another errand and come back and they were ready to go. Our spa pedicure was pleasant and again they did a great job shaping and making sure the polish was applied with clean lines. FYI - My french shellac manicure has held up beautifully for 2 weeks. A friend suggested we come to Peony for a couple of pedicures, and I hadn't treated myself in a while, so why not!! This place is great for the money. $30 for their VIP Peony Pedicure. They made sure my friend and I were able to sit together, which was really nice since they were very busy. The massage chairs made it extra fun. :) The lady working on my feet (I believe her name was Lina) was great. I am incredibly ticklish and kind of insecure about it when I get a pedicure or a massage, always worrying that it might annoy the person working with me. Lina just giggled as I flinched and attempted to contain my laughter. She put me at ease and did a really excellent job with my nail shaping and polish. I was very pleased with her. read more

I'm very picky about which nail salon treats me the best and so far this is definitely the one--at least the one not within a day spa. When I walked in they were extremely busy and I didn't have an appointment, but they were kind enough to fit me as quickly as possible. They have a few different options to choose from in terms of what kind of pedicure you want. I think it ranges from a basic pedicure ($20) to a VIP pedicure ($30), plus they offer the shellac polish for an extra $20. If you want shellac, make sure you tell them in the beginning because they can't do it if they've already put oil on your nails during their "spa" treatment. I personally received a Signature Pedicure with French Tips and a design on my toes, which cost me $40. All very worth it. Everyone working there is extremely friendly and help each other with their clients at every moment possible--even the owner. They offer you a small, chilled bottle of water which was really nice. The place is really clean and feels very ventilated unlike other nail salons. A friend of a client being worked on came in with her daughter and the owner kindly offered the little girl a kapri sun. How nice!!! I would definitely recommend making an appointment because they get super busy and will turn people away at the door if it's close to closing time because all of the workers are booked with other clients. I LOVE this place! My friends put together a baby shower for me here, and the staff totally went over the top for us. They put together a table with fresh flowers, balloons and drinks. They even bought me a beautiful baby blanket from Macy's along with a card that the whole staff signed. And I had never been here before! Fresh and New Peony is by far one of the nicest and cleanest little nail salons in northern Seattle. Straight away I was greeted by the friendly owner who took me in for a quick mani. The whole place was uber clean along with a nice selection of polishes. As I was ushered to the table, I was offered water or soda while my nails were cleaned and trimmed to perfection. The pedicure chairs here are huge and comfy! I found out the owner specially ordered them for hypoallergenic reasons. Although my mani didn't turn out quite as refined as I have had in the past, the price of $12 didn't seem so bad along with the fabulous service that came with it. Worth a try or two! read more

Peony nails is definitely a "you get what you pay for" kind of place. I have had a shellac manicure and regular manicure here, and both have been way, way sub-par. In both instances, I had the same problem. One tech applied the polish beautifully, and then a second tech would apply the top coat. In both cases, the tech who applied the top coat did a super hasty and terrible job, and essentially covered about 60% of the nail with top coat, not taking it to the edges of the polish. So, the shellac started to lift after a week, and my regular manicure was hilariously bad. The top coat was applied (again) to only about 60% of the nail, and because they other coats hadn't cured, immediately began to wrinkle the polish underneath. I had wavy, rumpled nails, and the tech's solution was to put more polish and more topcoat on. So wavy, wrinkled, thick nail polish that looked like a kid had applied it. SO. BAD. Sure, this place is cheap, and always busy and understaffed. Techs bounce around from job to job, nobody does a thorough job. I will never go back. *edit. I forgot to mention, they also did a super shoddy job removing the shellac paint. I removed my regular manicure today to find old shellac polish all over the place. Guess I will wait for that to grow out... read more

They are VERY clean, professional and offer a ton of great deals at reasonable rates. The only problem I've had, it that my polish never lasts. When I've had shellac done it comes off in about a week, and my pedicures often result in the same way. I am very tough on my nails, but I haven't had my pedicures rub off from other salons... I had a below average experience at this salon- I came for a pedicure and left significantly more stressed than when I arrived. We came in with an appointment for 3 and were neither seated near each other nor started at the same time. The pedicure cost $30 and lasted 20 minutes- in my opinion that is on the more expensive side and a lot shorter than normal. We were all rushed out of our comfy seats because a group of 12 year olds came in and wanted to sit near each other which upset all the adults in the salon. I understand that Saturday morning is a busy day for salons, but I would expect a little more courtesy and personal attention when I'm paying $35 (with tip). I'm sure this is a fine place to go on a slow Thursday afternoon but they didn't handle the influx of customers with grace or patience. read more

Just went to this place today (Sunday morning). It was just sub-par. I had read so many mixed reviews but this is so close to my house and my mom gave me a gift card. The nail tech who did my manicure didn't talk to me at all or smile. She didn't ask me what kind of pedicure I wanted like all the other nail techs did. She did an okay job though. Then I had a nail tech do my nails while I was sitting in the chair (not my favorite way to get a manicure, but I get it if they're busy). She seemed a lot nicer, but instantly was rushing since so many people were coming in. Overall, I would say this place is okay. I've been to way better and friendlier places. The pedicure chairs are super comfortable and they offer paraffin as well. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT COME HERE. My friend and I were at my usual favorite a spot on Roosevelt, when we found ourselves waiting for an hour and the wait was going to be even longer, so we decided to leave and go to Peony Nails since it was nearby where I live. Horrible horrible decision. First of all, their shellac manicure is $30 and it literally only includes a shellac manicure. For the amount of nail salons in the area and how competitive it is, usually you always get parrafin wax, a neck massage, and an arm massage. I was shocked at the minimal amount of service you are given here. Not even a cup of water was offered. Next, the nail tech not only decided to comment on how sweaty my hands were, but she proceeded to show my hands to the nail tech and customer sitting next to me, and continued to talk about how sweaty my hands were to everyone for the rest of the appointment. Lastly, she did a horrible job. She cut me (with tools that did not look clean), left the sides of my nails blank, and didn't even seal the tips with top coat. On top of that, the whole place looks horribly unclean. The WORST manicure and experience I have ever had at a nail salon ever. With the amount of salons in this area, there are plenty to choose from and it is really shocking how poorly this place chooses to run their business. read more

Pretty darn good and when it's hard to beat $20 for a basic spa pedicure. Stopped in on my way home and they were pretty full, but still able to squeeze me in for a pedicure. The massage chairs are okay, but there are more comfortable ones. The lady did a good job with my toes and they looked great after! The bf even noticed b/c apparently, when I do them myself, they don't look as "professional." Ha! I used to love going to this place until I noticed something wrong with one of my fingernails. The acrylic looked off and I had them fix it and then it got worse. When it came off again, my finger didn't look normal. I had another salon remove the rest of them and it seems like the nail is infected.
