This place is "out-of-network" on my eye insurance plan, but I always come here instead for an "in-network" place for better service. They also have a good selection of Korean brand frames, which can help you save money over the typical Luxottica-made frames that most stores carry. The first time I visited, I had broken my old pair of glasses before a Thanksgiving long weekend, when most places would be closed. Out of these "businesses", I was always greeted with sales people whom were only focused on selling high priced frames and lenses despite the fact that I didn't need nor can afford them. People Optical was different. I was greeted with a nice gentleman named, James Kim. He was not only very attentive, but was also VERY professional at how he presented everything to me. He's extremely knowledgeable with so many variations lenses and frames. During my visit there, he NEVER once pushed me to buy anything unnecessary nor tried to oversell me anything that I could not afford. He was actually advising me that the type of lens I wanted was a overkill for the type of sight that I have, and recommended me with an appropriate and more economical choice. Service and selection of frames are amazing. They advised me on the frame I should choose based on my face and prescription. My eyesight are pretty bad (-6.50 and -5.50) so my lenses would be very thick even with ultra high index (from past experience on other optometrist). Nothing but positive experience from this optometry office! Needed a new pair of glasses and re-order contact lens. My optician, Joon, was very friendly and professional from the moment I entered the store. I had a little trouble locating my new vision insurance company, but Joon was very patient and diligent in connecting me with them. He was also kind enough to fix my old glasses (the legs were bent sideways) while I was waiting for my new glasses, and they now fit like gloves. A broad array of frame selections including name brands to trendy Korean ones. They also offer a rebate program on selected contact lens brand, which saved me a lot of money! The staff here is friendly and accommodating. Mainly rating on behalf of the customer service from the men at the counter for faxing, and texting me a copy of my prescription to take to Costco for glasses. The optometrist however is rude. She was not warm at all and made me feel like it was bother for her to help me. My initial appointment was late in the evening (6pm) she was very quiet and rushed. Did not discuss or make recommendations. I came back a week later after using a 2 week acuvie prescription bc the contacts were drying and I felt like I had grit under my eyes! Every time I would blink they would move. After seeing me, she blamed my lash extensions as the problem and I had to be persistent to try other contacts. Turns out the original trial she gave me were too small for my eyes so they irritated my eyeball every time I blinked. This office is very busy, but the optometrist is not very welcoming and the glasses are pricey. I paid $80 for a contact/glasses prescription and took it to Costco. I will not be coming back for my 2018 prescription renewal. read more

Cleanliness: When it comes to something that has to deal with your eyes, you become more careful about the cleanliness and the hygiene. When you walk in, you get a sense of cleanliness. All the glasses are shining bright, frames are organized and lined up, staffs are well dressed up. You can really tell how much they take these small details into consideration. Coming to People Optical has been one of the most pleasant overall experiences I've ever had when it comes to getting a new pair of eyeglasses. The team here is great and they have a nice assortment of authentic designer frames and lens options. The first time I walked in I was immediately greeted by John and he was very knowledgeable and patient. He took the time to explain to me the numerous options that were available and showed me a few selections from different brands. They didn't have the exact model that I wanted, but I left with a pretty good idea of what would work best for me. After a bit of hunting around various optical boutiques all over SoCal, it was clear that coming back to People Optical would be the best course of action. John made everything quick and painless. The Lindberg frames were customized to order and arrived in about just a week. I also scheduled an eye exam at the adjoining optometry office. Dr. Kim was very thorough with her evaluation and we discussed a few options before proceeding with the prescription. In the end I went with the Younger Optics double aspheric 1.74 super hydrophobic AR and they turned out great. Much better than my previous set of high index lenses. A great experience and will be telling all my four-eyed friends to come by whenever they need some new specs. In total it took me four visits to get situated (preliminary consultation, ordering frames, exam and ordering lenses, pickup and fitting). If you know what you want and already have a prescription, you can probably get it all done in one or two visits. Either way, they're always pleasant and happy to see you when you walk in. Best optometrist experience ever! The associates at the front desk were friendly and professional. The doctor was sweet and patient with me and explained everything thoroughly. No one tried to upsell me on any extra contacts or expensive frames. The whole process took 28 minutes- I was astounded at how fast they were! I live in Seattle, but I make sure I do our glasses here whenever I come down to Southern California for business (at least for the last 7 or 8 years). Staff is fabulous, very patient and considerate. I would not go anywhere else. Love their products as well as service. I had to get replacement lenses one year locally due to not being able to come down to Irvine, but that ended up very painful.... My new pair of glasses from this place is as great as the last pair. It is quite nice, to replace an old, but still comfortable glasses that I have been wearing for more than 3 years. 3 years is a long time for sure, but I have been reluctant to visit optometry since I got a bad experience from another place for the one before the good one. Anyhow, knowing that I haven't been utilizing my optical insurance benefit for a while, I began searching for a place. With some yelping, i found this place having a 5 start rating with a decent number of reviews. Those two things looked good, so I decided to give a try. There were lots of glasses and lots of staff, a bit overwhelmed, but things were not relevant to me since my plan was to make a replacement lens. One of the staff named, Joon, approached to me, and I started to explain my plan (I did hesitate a bit since I know a bit about this business). However, unexpectedly, I received very genuine feedback from him. That was a positive point. Shortly after, I got the eye exams, and consulted for my incorrectly made pair with the doctor. When things were done, the doctor walked with me to the main area, and requested Joon to measure the power of the bad pair glasses in order to analyze. Analysis? that was unexpected! Another positive experience. With the analysis, I was explained the cause of it, and was escorted to walk around the parking lot wearing the power adjustable glasses(?) to ensure if the new prescription was done correctly. After a couple of minutes of walking and looking here and there, I was able to feel relived with the new one. I am wearing the new prescribed lens at this moment without any discomfort. I believe this was possible only because the unexpected, diligent services that I received from them (It may be their typical practices, but I have never had this type of service from other places). read more

I have a pair of glasses that I did NOT get from here. In fact, I had never stepped foot into this store until a few weeks ago. I had a pair of glasses that lost some screws on one side, so the side had become detached. I decided to look up a store to take my glasses in to get fixed, and found People Optical with stellar reviews. Even though I came near closing on a Friday night and was not even a customer/patient here, the man working kindly looked at my glasses and within 5 minutes, put some screws in it and fixed it good as new. He refused to charge me anything for the service. Can you say....amazing customer service? He absolutely had no obligation to help me, but did it anyway. Taking a look around while I waited, I can honestly say that the selection of cute and unique frames coupled with the outstanding customer service and genuine desire to help from the staff here had me impressed. I will definitely be back when it's my eye check up time and I'm so happy to have unintentionally stumbled across this gem. Last year I made the mistake of spending a lot of money on eyeglasses at Walmart that were less than ideal because I failed to shop around. This year, with my wishlist in hand, I went to multiple places and finally hit the jackpot when someone told me about People Optical (they have a large selection of both plastic and metal frames with the built-in nose pads for us Asians with no-bridge noses). John listened carefully to my wishlist and quickly helped me locate a stylish frame that met all of my criteria. Because I only wanted single vision lenses and they don't outsource the job, my prescription eyeglasses were ready by noon the next day. If I was in a hurry and made the request, I suspect they would have had them ready the same day. In my quest to find the perfect eyeglass frame, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that America's Best and LensCrafters have good selections and attentive customer service, they just don't have the special nose pads that I require and the "cut above" frame that I found at People Optical, and they don't have the "over and above" service that I experienced from John. Had I chosen a frame that didn't have the built-in nose pad, John indicated that they could attach one for a very reasonable price. He also recommended the lens that was appropriate for my needs, not wanting me to waste my money on an unnecessary upgrade. So if you want to purchase eyeglasses from a totally customer service focused company with competitive prices and a great selection, don't waste your time going elsewhere, especially if you are looking for a more custom frame and/or service. read more

Joon was very helpful. I had avoided getting a new frame since 2005 because it's so annoying to me to try to find out exactly what I want, but I found a picture of a two glasses online and loved the shape of the lenses, but did not like the frame. Joon was able to help me get what I wanted (rimless with the same lens shape) and also helped me pick which shape would look better, and then created a demo lens of the shape so I could verify it was the size I wanted which helped me make the final choice to place the custom order. I had to get ear pieces that were too long because the other size was too short, but Joon was able to trim them to a better size for me and also filled out all the details of the insurance claim since they were not in my network to make it easy to just sign and mail it off. read more

The employees here are the friendliest and extremely helpful. If there are rebates, they even do most of the work for you so that it's pretty foolproof. To top it off, their prices are reasonable and they take care of you if you have a supply emergency. Something you can't get online. The only complaint I have, if any, is their optometry office that seems to operate separately? An examination is an examination so I wouldn't stop going only because of this but I've had better where the doctors are a little more personable and informative of what they are doing and comments on what they see/observe.
