I felt like it made more sense to have fewer pools but, bigger to fit more people but, we were comfortable in each. The beach is beautiful and every day there were plenty of surfers riding the high tide waves. It wasn't the best beach for swimming since the tide was so high and waves were really strong but, lifeguards are on the property to help those who have trouble getting in and out. We stayed close to shore to prevent any accidents and enjoyed watching surfers ride the waves each day.

We booked an "ocean view" room, which was really more of a nice 45-degree angle looking down the length of the beach. Still enjoyable, just something to keep in mind when booking. Some reviews mentioned dirty rooms, but our experience on the 8th floor was the complete opposite. Our room was spotless when we arrived, and housekeeping returned it to that same condition every day. Honestly, it was probably the best housekeeping service I can remember at a hotel. On the other hand, we had the same A/C issues others have mentioned. The room simply wouldn't get cool enough the first two nights, but the engineering team fixed it when we finally inquired. The room itself worked really well for a family. The pullout sofa was surprisingly nice, the shower was very spacious, having the toilet behind its own separate door made getting everyone ready much easier, and the room key is a wristband, so it's easy to keep with you all the time. Unlike some of the other places we visited, it's also removable if you'd rather not wear it. The only other area I'd mention that could be improved is the front desk and concierge. There were a few times they seemed unmanned when we walked through the lobby, and while everyone was friendly, we didn't get the sense they had enough firsthand knowledge of the area to tailor recommendations to different interests, ages, or travel styles. The hotel definitely has a nightlife vibe. Every evening the lobby filled with people heading out in club attire, and the casino is a nice little bonus if that's your thing. The lobby itself is large, clean, and often had a good balance of customers being served and available space for others. The pools were nice, though I'd like to see the third pool reopened before maybe considering it a four-star stay. The beach is pleasant, with plenty of room to relax in the sun, but be warned that the hotel advises against swimming, and multiple locals elsewhere told us the same thing because of the currents. Plenty of people were wading well out or swimming close to shore, but I'd be nervous if I had kids venturing out very far or swimming alone. If swimming is your goal, there are safer beaches just a short Uber, taxi ride, or even a reasonable walk away. (I think the closest one recommended to us was about a half mile to the west.) The location is another big plus. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, Old San Juan is just a quick Uber away, and the sushi bar in the hotel was surprisingly affordable and much better than I expected for hotel sushi. Overall, I'd probably stay here again if visiting that area. It has a great location, comfortable rooms, excellent housekeeping, and enough amenities to keep most people happy. Just go in expecting a lively atmosphere, and hopefully get a room with an A/C unit that's already behaving itself.

And it turned out to be a great idea. The location is perfect. On the outer edge of Old San Juan (OSJ) you are only minutes away from anything in the area but out of the huge tourist crush from the other end of town. When looking at a map of Old San Juan you will think it's bigger than it is. To walk from the Posada to El Morro on the opposite tip of OSJ might take 15-20 minutes at a leisurely pace. I booked the standard double bed private shared room. It cost me $58 per night because I had to pay for 2 people instead of just myself. The single supplement sucks, but it's still inexpensive. The room was clean, clean, clean. And the satellite TV and air conditioning worked. I had to share bathrooms but one was always available when I needed it and they were always relatively clean if not just clean. I appreciated that the other guests during my stay were not slobs. The women working the desk and the one man I saw regularly were always polite and friendly. No issues with service. I used the washer and dryer while I was there, but I got up early to do it so there was no wait. And they are both in good condition - either new or very well-kept. All in all, my four night stay cost me $252 which includes taxes and online processing fees. That amount would have gotten me one night at a resort or hotel. For the price and location, Posada San Francisco really can't be beat, and I would stay here again. Tip: Because I stayed on the 6th floor, I didn't interact much with the other guests. If you're on the 4th floor with the dorms, you'll meet more people. Tip 2: They rent bikes for cheap. Don't forget that. I did.

However, before we get going on our segways, we get a basic training and safety course from the tour guide. -My travel companion masters it right away -I, on the other hand, struggle a bit as I'm steering too much and then realize to put less effort into it and then get it. After I make a fool of myself, we go on our way and she shows us a bit of the pier and explains why the houses have no numbers, go to a fort and then tour a lot of Old San Juan. We covered a lot of ground and going over the bumps was fun. Unfortunately, we ran into rain, so we had to wait a bit and this delayed our tour. Luckily, we were the only people for the day. Just riding on the segway was so much fun, but the tour guide was really knowledge and seeing the fort was so cool. I love seeing old war stuff (even though I'm totally anti-gun). We enjoyed it so much that when we walked around Old San Juan, we were thinking "we need that damn segway back!!!" Overall, great time.

But to be this close to everything, this was a non-issue for me because the B&B and location are really top-notch. If you want the best of all worlds when staying in the old San Juan area, this is the place to be.

If you absolutely have to pick up your rental car right off the bat, you will have to park you car overnight in a garage or a lot. Nydia was very helpful coordinating air travel and hotels. I took care of the train tickets with Eurail. In the end, all worked out. Well, my wife, son, and I each fell I'll at some point I. The trip, but that wasn't the travel agency's fault. Now we're are planning a ski trip. Much simpler but we don't have time to stay on top of flights. So I called Nydia and she resolved that and the car rental real fast. I don't always need a travel agent, but when I do, I use them.
