Right in Old San Juan, we have stayed here 3 times already and it will not be our last. Take the first elevator to the 6th floor and checkout the old fashioned style tubs you can fill with water and sit and relax under the stars while gazing out to the city. The 2nd elevator to the 4th floor will take you to the 4 hot tubs to relax in if they are not too full. There is a vending machine on the first floor for sodas and water past the first elevator.
We stayed here in early June 2025. The location is excellent -- close to restaurants, shops, and the charm of Old San Juan. The building has a boutique feel with cool artistic touches, which my girlfriend really appreciated. Check-In & First Impressions: We arrived around 4pm. One woman at the front desk came off a bit distant at first (not the warmest greeting), but over the next few days, she turned out to be kind and helpful, and I appreciated the turnaround. The young man working with her seemed friendly from the start. We were told breakfast wouldn't be served one of the days, and that one of the elevators was out of service, though this didn't affect us. Room & Amenities: Our balcony room had character, but there were some quirks. Only one roll of toilet paper was provided, and we had to request more towels. The staff was helpful when we asked, but the setup felt a bit minimal for a hotel. The two small balconies were shared with neighboring rooms and the windows were frosted, so they didn't offer much in terms of view. We ended up keeping the doors closed. The bed was firm (I usually like that), but still woke up with a sore back. The linens looked clean, though one towel had a stain I didn't notice until after using it. The A/C worked very well -- responsive and helped mask some of the outdoor noise. The mini fridge and in-room safe were nice touches. Bathroom & Shower: The shower was inconsistent. Water temperature would randomly shift from hot to cold, and the pressure was very weak. On the plus side, they had mounted bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body gel, which I appreciated. Cleanliness: The floors had a weird slick feel, and my socks got dirty quickly -- might've been cleaning product buildup or just humidity. I kept to flip flops. There was no musty smell in our room, but I can see how that could be an issue in this climate. Unfortunately, we also had a mosquito problem in the room, likely from gaps under the balcony doors. We let the front desk know, though it's hard to say what could really be done. Rooftop & Common Areas: The rooftop was one of the hotel's highlights. It has three hot tubs and a rainfall-style shower to rinse off. One tub was 101°, another around 91°, and one much cooler. Nice spot to unwind. The tubs didn't look as pristine as the photos, but I could smell chlorine, which reassured me they were cleaned. There was a leaking ceiling on the third floor near the elevator one rainy morning -- hopefully something that's being addressed. We also saw signage for a "playroom" that turned out to be the area they prep breakfast in -- a bit confusing, especially since the sign said "open." Housekeeping: We requested housekeeping on our third day by leaving the sign on the door. When we returned around 3pm, the room hadn't been serviced. We spoke with the front desk and were told staff is usually around from 11am to 3pm, but they'd check. Eventually, someone came by after 4:30pm, took out the trash, and gave us new towels. Without asking, I don't think it would've happened. Staff Interactions: Overall, we met about five different front desk staff. Some were more helpful and friendly than others. One bald guy with a tattoo stood out as especially kind and easy to talk to. As mentioned earlier, the woman who checked us in was much more warm and welcoming later in our stay, which left a better final impression. Final Thoughts: This hotel has a lot of charm, but also many small issues -- inconsistent housekeeping, maintenance needs, and odd room quirks. I wouldn't book a balcony room again knowing how it's set up. Still, the location is fantastic, and we appreciated the staff's effort, especially with printing our cruise documents at checkout.
I don't even care that there was a giant cockroach laying on his back in front of my room door, this place is an uniquely cool hotel if you're ever planning to stay a night or two in the heart of Old San Juan. Besides, it was the one and only roach I saw during my two nights staying here, and it wasn't like it was in my room, it was out in the hallway. I retrieved my phone and took a picture of it (see photo below - IT WAS HUMONGOUS). I put my phone back into my pocket and continued to stare at it, and after a moment, came to the conclusion that it was dead. However, I soon discovered it was still very well alive because it suddenly started wiggling around after I picked it up off the floor by its antenna, which of course startled me, so I instinctively flung it away. I wish I had known that a young woman had come up the stairs and into the stairwell hallway in front of my room door before I reactively chunked a live bug right into her chest. In all honestly, I was solely focused on the floor up to this second and did not know she had appeared until it was too late. Unfortunately, the critter immediately and swiftly crawled down her cleavage and out of sight inside her shirt. At the same time, this lady fell into hysterics, started screaming, then turned and ran back down the stairs. I shut my door and went back to bed. Did I mention that there are bathtubs on the roof? Cool, huh?!
The CasaBlanca Hotel is conveniently located near Plaza Colon in Old San Juan and is stylish looking inside. The classic movie "Casablanca" is playing 24/7 (without sound). There is a restaurant, Cafe Marmalade on site, and 24/hour coffee and water is offered free to guests. (We almost stayed at "El Convento," and had made a reservation there, but we changed our minds when we could not get anyone to answer the phone at that hotel.) Our room had a fridge but no microwave, but there is a microwave available in the lobby. There is no pool, but there are several hot tubs available on the roof. The only real hiccup we experienced was a short power failure, but we have heard that power failures are common in Old San Juan. We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend this hotel.
Stayed here for 3 nights this past weekend. Great experience! Stylish decor and great service. Decor? A lot of beautiful details. Furniture, lighting, and art? Amazing! A rooftop terrace with great views of Old San Juan, nice seating and bathtubs to lounge in. Our room? A little small, but nicely decorated and well appointed. Clean and daily service. Lobby area they have an in house restaurant, Cafe Mimosa. Best mimosa prices in town and every morning busy! The food and service was very good. Hotel is centrally located in Old San Juan. We walked to a ton of cool restaurants and tourist spots. If you want a special boutique hotel that won't break the bank? Find here. Beautiful! If we return again? We're staying here!
Stayed there last night and I can say that it was the worst hotel I've ever been. It is definitely not a 4 star hotel. The only good thing about it was its location. We had a king size room with no windows, squeaky bed, terrible old mattress. Sheets were not fresh and kind of dirty. I found hair on pillows and slept fully clothed The water pressure was so bad that it is even hard to wash hands, I was not even going to try to shower there. I am claustrophobic and staying in that room without windows was really a torture. We didn't sleep for a minute because of noise in the hallway, uncomfortable squeaky mattress and all of the above. I don't recommend this hotel to anyone. For the money that we paid, we could definitely stay in a better place
I cannot say enough about the friendly staff and service at Casablanca. I was a solo traveler and they took great care of me. Rooms are small and cozy. AC works great but water pressure in shower is weak, which is typical for the area. Great location near food, drinks, grocery. I walked all over old San Juan from here.
I stayed at this hotel years ago. I love the entrance/lounge and all the beautiful art. When I first stayed, I loved it. The rooms are small but it was so cute to hang out on the rooftop with the tubs. I've recommended this place to so many friends. About three weeks ago, I was on vaca and decided to spend a night there again. What a mistake! The room was so old and the shower was clogged. The bathroom fixtures were awful and the bed was like sleeping on a blanket. Old pillows, old mattress. I complained and sent management pictures when we checked out and never heard from anyone. So, besides the great art, the room was so yucky!
Located in a busy area near the port in Old San Juan. The hotel lobby was elegantly decorated but that's pretty much the only good thing about it... Our room was extremely small but costs $150 plus... It was very loud at night as all guest rooms center around an old elevator that made loud noises when moving. Impossible to stay in the room during the day because someone was doing construction work right above us. Internet wasn't working. Only one out of three jacuzzis worked.... Free coffee was not drinkable...
Dissatisfied Army Vet Rafael - Owner Mayra - Supervisor Ricardo - Manager Was giving these names through one of the Employees - Owner needs to stop taking in money and upgrade this Hotel I would like to start by saying that I have been a traveler, all my life but staying in this hotel was an experience and a half To Start the employees were very nice and polite as I arrived with my family stayed there for two nights. We were sailing out on a cruise very close to proximity of everything that we really wanted to see an experience in Old San Juan. Rooms were clean. I do have to say they keep it clean, corridors smell of mold. I was placed all the way to the back where they had their storage thrown there from bedboard to mirror frame to boxes. It was disgusting. As much as they charge for this hotel. I was told by one of the employees when I went to get coffee, they do not do coffee every single hour on the hour because they have to throw away so much REALLY OMG? so he went into his room and did a coffee for me another 1 star. When I am paying close to $600 for the two nights what mess is this. No hot water in the room they had to call maintenance to see what was going on My mother that has never been to Puerto Rico one day the elevator was not working she is disabled. We had to carry her up to the third floor, which was not easy. And nothing dine until midday the next day. The only good thing about this hotel is the bathroom small but clean, I had to go down the stairs to go and use the microwave with thousands of people coming in to heat up their food. May some people are use to this but I am not and will never go there again I will say I will never ever stay in this hotel again please be aware of the pictures as I was impressed with the pictures on the website. Nothing compared to how the hotel is inside. " One Word Only Disgusting "
The Casablanca Hotel located in the heart of San Juan, Puerto Rico was the perfect choice for a long weekend packed with excitement as we were there for the Bad Bunny Residency. Just as the name Casablanca hotel is inspired by the movie Casablanca. This hotel is elegant with a historic and artsy flair. Moroccan theme decor with beautiful victorian style chandeliers. Lots of vibrant colorful art through out the hotel every corner catches your attention from the moment you walk in. You just want to take photos and videos everywhere you step in. We had the two bedroom suite with balcony and view to the cobblestone streets and colorful buildings of San Juan. Very spacious and clean. There is also a rooftop with jacuzzi and lounge area great for relaxation. Hotel is walking distance to all the bars and restaurants in Old San Juan. I only used Uber to and from the concert venue. Hotel is 15 minutes from the airport very convenient. Great stay, nice and pleasant staff and will definitely stay here again. read more

I would definitely go back. It's not like the big name hotels but worth the stay. It's in an excellent location with an awesome rooftop and hot big bath tubs. The rooms are rustic and you can tell it's been through changes over the yrs. If you get a balcony room it's awesome. The beds are comfy, nice TV. I was comfortable. More people need to go so big hotels don't take over. read more

So my client picked this hotel so he could scope it out before going back with his wife. With a first glance it seems like a romantic hotel meant for couples and families but ended up being a nice little piece of Puerto Rico that I will remember for a long time. This place had the FRIENDLIEST staff of any business that I went to in PR! The rooms were cozy but functional and decorative! The A/C worked great too which was imperative with such humid weather! The only problem I had was that the Wi-Fi sucked! Granted, I was there for work so needing wi-fi is important to me, but for most couples staying there.. being on the internet should be the last thing you're doing! I did enjoy the rooftop bathtub by myself overlooking the ocean and some old forts during sunrise. It was pretty romantic for being up there by myself so I just read a book and enjoyed the scenery. Check it out if you get a chance as the prices are great! read more
From the moment we arrived, we knew we had booked at a quality establishment. I would have preferred to have had parking at the hotel, but to be fair, I don't know if any of the hotels offer that. Beyond that our stay was pretty much perfect. I dropped my wife off to get us checked in and find out about parking. She had me circle back around and waited outside with the guy that was checking us in. He directed me to park in the alley so we could unload. He took all of our stuff in and got us squared away while we took off and went to explore some more. When we came back, he remembered our names, asked us how we were doing, recommended places to eat close by, and just made us feel welcome. Gave us the full rundown of the hotel and the two elevators and the areas they service. Told us how to get to the roof top balcony, etc. The staff were all friendly and eager to help with anything we needed. They offered towels for taking to the beach as well. With COVID protocols in place, they didn't offer cleaning services (not many hotels do), but you could get restocked on anything you needed at the front desk. Check out was easy and there were no hidden fees. We were really pleased with our selection to stay here and wouldn't hesitate to come back here if we decided to stay in Old San Juan again. read more

Stayed here on our last visit to PR. Loved the location of the hotel. It's right in the middle of Old Town. Perfect location as it's close to everything you'd want to do in the area. We took a cab from the airport and didn't rent a car. Honestly, I wouldn't rent a car because the roads are so tiny and I don't know if the garage is close by. We walked everywhere and took cabs as needed. We loved the vibe of the hotel. The lobby is nicely decorated with funky art work and an awesome chandelier. The rooms are small but if you don't plan on spending a lot of time in the room, it's not bad. We were a bit cramped with 2 people and 2 suitcases. Manageable though. The roof top is awesome!! There are two giant tubs that I think are working. We didn't try it. There are couches and chairs set up if you want to spend some time just relaxing. It overlooks the city and has a pretty great view. The front staff was so nice. They gave us a map and pointers of where to go. They told us their favorite places to eat that's off the beaten path. Whatever we needed, they were more than happy to help. We would for sure stay here again. read more
This is an adorable hotel in Old San Juan. My sister and I came here for two nights when our Air BnB's water was turned off (city maintenance). Not only did the CasaBlanca have water, it had personality too! The staff was fun and helpful. The decor is whimsical and colorful. This is all mixed with an old building that kind of reminds you of old buildings in NYC but with a Spanish flair. The "old" of the place might turn some people off but I thought it was charming and unique. My room was clean and also had that "old building" feel. All the rooms are different so, enjoy what you get. The location is perfect for Old San Juan and you are in the middle of it all and its all walkable. The price is reasonable as well. Oh! There are 4 big tubs on the rooftop that you can relax in 24/7. (Since there are only 4, you will might have to wait for one to vacate. Also, the tubs take a while to fill up so just relax and hang out.) All in all, a really good experience and I would totally stay here again. read more

Absolutely terrible. Elevator did not work the entire weekend and my suite was on the top floor. There was no other room available and the climbing up and down was terrible on my knee which has a torn ACL. I contacted the manager, Rafael, and he apologized and offered a refund. I followed up with a few emails about the refund and he never responded. I contacted my credit card and they reached out on my behalf. The hotel stated that I was not due a refund because I was outside the window. That is not true and I have the emails to prove it. I do not recommend this place. read more
COLD WATTER is the norm! Booked thru hotels.com 6 mounths pror to stay. Highlighted profile request for lower floors no stairs. Booked on 3rd floor South building with non-working elevator! Pre paid room, hotel booked full with no available rooms to change. Hotel just does not look clean, dust traps throughout. Water presure lacking. No parking near. In the middle of old town so gets lots of cruise traffic. $30 for extra 2 hour late check out!(2pm). Would go elsewhere. read more

I decided to book and stay here after reviewing various locations. We tried to arrive early due to the cruise arriving early but they said the rooms were not available. They were really accommodating with keeping our luggage. The one gentleman helped us out with storing our luggage and helping us when we left. On to the room. The location is right off of the main street. it is very narrow so you have to grab your luggage and jump out quickly. We used Uber so it was not too bad. On arriving the checkin was very quick. The hotel lobby is very quaint with an artistic flair. There was an elevator and stairs. We decided to use the Elevator which we were warned was very slow. He was right. It is almost like watching paint dry. We arrived to the room and I was hit with a moldy smell. Very concerning but I was was reading that humid areas may have this problem. It smelled as if there was a water break in which the waters had sat for while. You could feel the moisture in the air and on the floors. I talked to the front desk and he was willing to spray. He explained that the rooms with no windows usually have this issue. I have stayed in PR a few times and did not experience this issue but ok. He said to keep the AC on to help. Unfortunately the air is a small unit that blows directly on the bed so that was not an all night option. You can tell that this was an older hotel. Even the paint was chipping and walls cracked on the room ceiling. The room was a nice size. It had a coffee pot and TV and a nice sized bathroom. The roof was also interesting with the bathtubs and great view. Overall, the staff were very accommodating. However, the moldy smell set me back. The fact that breakfast is not included was also interesting. I would recommend checking out the place but maybe getting a room with a window and also be aware that the elevator is slow. However there are more important things to be worried about. This was not a show stopper. read more

Adorable is probably the best way to describe the hotel. We booked for a few days, before leaving on a cruise so that we could explore Old San Juan. This was the perfect location with small souvenir shops, boutiques, and restaurants within a few blocks. (PS - there is a great CVS about three blocks away down toward the water) We were able to walk to the Castillo San Cristobal, justs a few blocks away. We arrived in Puerto Rico and spent the day with friends, the hotel was very accommodating with a late check in and had everything in order when we arrived. The hotel is decorated in a fun, funky decor that is a mix of vintage chic, modern and Morrocan: a great luxurious vibe, old school hotel with modern conveniences. We took the smallest room option as we knew we would be out and about. It was a good size with a WONDERFULLY comfortable bed and pillows. The A/C worked exceptionally well, which was amazing after being out all day. We had a few issues which might be the only reason we didn't give it five stars. No one bothered to tell us that the Tablet in the room could be used to request more towels, have the room made up or report any issues in the room, and it also didn't seem to work properly. The phone in the room didn't connect to anything so when we needed something we had to go down to the front desk. Side Note: the elevator is a nice convenience but SUPER slow. If you are able, take the stairs at least one time the artwork and light fixtures are beautiful. The rooftop offers a great view of Old San Juan, the fort, local buildings, and the sunset. We didn't try the big soaking tubs, but they looked like a cool idea. The staff could not have been nicer. Housekeepers were great, and the Front Desk recommended a local restaurant and was able to call and get us a reservation too. Overall a great place to stay in old San Juan. read more

Having just checked-out of CasaBlanca, I am still conflicted with the rating it deserves. There are a lot of negatives, but also a few positives which make it worthy to stay at this hotel. When you first walk into the hotel, you are immediately blown away by its decor. You won't find a piece of furniture that's the same. My impression changed the second I went beyond the lobby. The elevator wasn't working upon check-in and we were told that it was being worked on that very moment. We had a bellboy carry our luggage three flights of stairs. The broken elevator became an issue upon checkout since reception never picks up the phone. You can guess as to who had to carry the luggage down. The room is very small, but it has all the necessary arrangements for a short-term stay. Under no circumstances would I recommend this hotel long-term. There is practically no room to place your belongings, as the room has no closet or shelving units. We also also give one hanger for our belongings. A major issue I found with the room was the lack of cleanliness. We found belongings from the previous tenants and also discovered that the unfinished concrete floors were disgustingly dirty. I accidentally spilled water on the floor and after wiping the spill with a towel, the towel turned black--YUCK. Now for the positive. The tubs on the rooftop are a great way relax. They overlook the city, as well as the old fort and as there are only four tubs, you get all the privacy in the world. After conquering the city by foot on a scorching day, it was nice to take a cool bath. For some reason, the turf surrounding the tub was torn away exposing the dirty floor (once again). Let me begin by saying that the face-to-face service was impeccable. Reception was always friendly and open to giving suggestions on attractions & restaurants. However, good service ended there. Whenever I tried to dial front-desk for assistance with whatever issue--nobody bothered to pick-up the phone. CasaBlanca is strictly for the experience of the decor and the rooftop baths. If you're looking for comfort or you are a neat-freak, I suggest you stay elsewhere. read more
What a welcome into San Juan from the CasaBlanca Hotel. We deliberated for a long time on if this was the spot we wanted to stay in and I can say with a resounding YES that this is the place to be if you want to experience Old San Juan. From the minute we walked in, Miguel was just about the nicest staff member I've ever encountered. This guy is awesome at his job and made us feel welcome with his lighthearted way. Since he heard it was our honeymoon, he gave us three keys and our choice of room. We chose an awesome one on the top floor with a view. Yes, there are stairs to climb with bags but again Miguel was quick to offer his help. Also, big news from them, their elevator is nearing completion and could be ready by as early as April 2016. We're young enough that we don't mind climbing stairs at all, and actually enjoy it. The rooms were great; full of charm, cool windows, A/C, comfy beds and very clean. One hundred times better than a Puerto Rican Holiday Inn or Hyatt. When you're in a new place, you want to feel like it. There is a rooftop here with funky bathtubs for... lounging? Dancing the hoochy-koo? You decide. The view is nice. The location here was perfect so an Old San Juan exploration. There are great restaurants all around, and of course the Castillo San Cristobal is a quick walk away. That deserves it's own Yelp review but I have to say I was blown away but this old fort. Amazing history and views there. We'll remember this hotel well for helping kick off our honeymoon experience as we made our way from Old San Juan to Vieques. For the price, you absolutely won't find a cooler, cleaner, safer, nicer, local hotel than Casablanca. read more

This is a very quaint property. Don't expect Hilton cookie cutter amenities do expect old world charm, amazing hospitality, and a great location! Be sure to stop by the bar, The Playroom, and say hello to Mercedes the bartender and Julio Willis. The best ambassador Puerto Rico has. read more
This hotel was a real gem during our visit to Old Town San Juan. From the moment we entered the beautiful lobby and were greeted very enthusiastically by the desk clerk until we checked out and were wished well by an equally friendly desk clerk, we enjoyed our stay. The lobby (and restaurant, and halls, and rooms) was decorated in a sort of Moroccan theme to go along with the Casablanca name. In fact, there are TVs in the lobby playing the film "Casablanca" on 24-hour loops. They've just installed a new glass elevator which they seemed to be really proud of, but it did make some clunking sounds when it ran and still didn't go up to the roof. Why go to the roof? It has been transformed into a terrace, complete with astroturf and literal bathtubs in which to sit and spray yourself down; odd maybe, unique definitely. We didn't partake of the tubs, but another couple was relaxing in a pair when we checked it out and assured us that after a day of sweating in the streets of OT, it was great to lounge in cool water with a view. That view is a nice one, looking out in all directions of OT. You can see all the old buildings, the forts, the sea, and the many, many pools of stagnant water on other roofs where mosquitoes deposit their young to grow into zika-transporting monsters. (See "We didn't partake of the tubs," above.) Our room was tiny, but that's what I like. I need a bed and a bathroom, and anything else is gravy at best or a waste of space and money at worst. This was a tight room with a bed, two nightstands with lamps, a TV, and a bathroom. Done and done. The A.C. in the room was remote controlled, and the HDTV had satellite, so I even got to sneak in an episode of "Chopped" during our stay. This hotel had tons of personality for a reasonable price, and is a great base of operations for visiting Old Town San Juan! read more
