One such activity is visiting apple orchards and sampling the many varieties of apples and apple adjacent treats. On a sunny fall day, after visiting I.U., I traveled a little bit out to Slaughter and was greeted warmly by the proprietor. I learned that they were the parents of the owners and were looking after the place for a bit. Upon entering the farm market, I was presented with wonderful displays of apples, ciders, apple butter, and of course, cider donuts. Samples were offered up on many of their wares, and was able to taste one of their unique apple varieties as well as one of their hard ciders. Of course, I left with several bags worth of goodies as well as an amazing experience. Will look forward to a return visit next time I'm in the area.

Despite other orchards/pumpkin patches absolutely price gouging families, Anderson Orchard remains the same and reasonably priced. Hours for September and October: 8am-8pm (or dark) We drove from Noblesville, I was so happy they were still open! Plenty to do for the kids, playground, bounce houses, straw pile, photo ops. They offer U-pick apples & Pumpkins or if you're in a hurry they're ready to grab from the red barn. Pumpkins are super reasonably priced at $.40 a Lb or pie pumpkins for $3. The concession stand is open on Saturday & Sunday. I love the fried biscuits with apple butter & of course you must get the apple cider slushies!! I don't remember seeing it prior, but they had apple cobbler warmed up with ice cream, delicious! I just love this place so much! Don't leave without a bag of apples, Carmel apples, apple cider & get some of those fried biscuits! Highly recommend bringing the whole family.

There are a few tables inside and outside but everything is packed to go. I ordered a Godzilla roll. The cashier was nice and my roll was prepared quickly. The Godzilla roll was inexpensive but small. At first I thought the roll also had an uncharacteristically fishy taste, but I think that unexpected flavor was just been cooked fish. The fish was thinly sliced and I didn't want to dissect the roll to confirm, but that's what it seemed like. (Also, it's been more than 48 hours and I never got sick, so it probably wasn't bad fish.) The menu description of the Godzilla roll just says "4 kinds of fish", so it's possible that includes cooked and I just wasn't expecting it. A more specific description would have been helpful. I liked the roll inside a roll concept, but didn't really like the combination of cooked and raw (or whatever was giving it that specific taste) and was left wishing there was some sort of vegetable in the roll. I But for cheap sushi, there was nothing else really wrong with it, it just wasn't to my taste. I'm not itching to go back, but if I wanted sushi or similar fast again, I'd consider giving them another try to see if something else appeals to me more.

The hay ride over to the fields was slow and easy. The driver even offered to snap a picture for us. We picked just short of a full bucket. It came to about $20. They spoil fast, so have a plan! Don't just pop them in the fridge. Then, we went inside the store and grabbed a cantaloupe and some hard cider. The strawberry hard cider was perfection. It was like drinking a fresh strawberry. One of the best ciders I've had - top 3, easy! He said the cantaloupe was great, too! I grabbed a few stickers for my scrapbook and a magnet for his fridge at the little store in the porch.
