Haven't been in a cab in years. Wife used to ride cabs in Pekin a lot and liked the drivers. Son and his wife ride cabs in Pekin yet and say the drivers are friendly, on time, and helpful unloading. As for the latest comments on Five Star........ Seems odd to me. Maybe you were too close but the driver was more dangerous to you, himself, and his passengers by his actions. I am so disappointed in this company. We called to request a ride but did not have the exact address for our destination. This disorients five star like you wouldn't believe. Before the conversation was seemingly over, we heard absolutely nothing on the phone and assumed that we had been hung up on. So we arranged an alternative ride to our destination. On our way to our destination, we got a phone call that the taxi was outside our house. This is when we told them that we won't need the ride, because we didn't know that our ride had actually been booked. Again, we thought we had been hung up on. So we thought we would try again for our ride back from the destination. The same dispatcher picked up the phone and eventually deduced that it was the same people calling for a ride and very rudely insisted that he would not send a taxi to help us. He said he wouldn't send his drivers to chase us all over town when they cancel on services. We are not idiots, we are not difficult people. I called back today to either clear the air or file a complaint. I reviewed our side of the evening with this guy, who I believe is Tony, he walked me through the statistics of the likelihood of fulfilling all of the calls that the taxi service receives, gave me some advice for being an ideal customer, and took absolutely no responsibility for what occurred. Transportation services, hotels, restaurants, and entertainment businesses are many peoples first impression of our community, and I take that very seriously. I have never used five star taxi nor would I. I was on the ramp heading onto interstate 74 when the driver of one of the taxi vans got out of his van and yelled at me. He cursed at me saying I was following too close. He had not gone over 15 mph since I pulled up behind him at a stop light. From the moment the stop light changed to green, he proceeded to drive dangerously slow. I monitored my speed and watched his location closely. While on the ramp, he stopped the van and got out. Being a woman alone at night and having just gotten off work where they will not allow us to leave the building after closing time without another person with us, I was cautious. I made sure my doors were locked and windows up. He yelled at me and told me that he was a professional driver with kids in his car and that I was too close and to stay the fuck behind. He got back in his vehicle and started to drive, but he didn't move more than 10 yards when he got out of his vehicle again. He yelled that I needed to be 2 car lengths away, and he threatened to call the cops to teach me to drive. That is when I got my phone ready to call the cops myself, but I decided to call my boyfriend instead. I was really scared and felt that he got out of his van the second time because he saw that I was a woman in the car by myself. After I got home, my boyfriend called the taxi company, and Chris seemed amused by the situation. The company seems to enjoy intimidating single female drivers, but they refused to continue talking to my boyfriend on the phone when he made it clear he would not back down from defending me. I called them to let Chris know that while my boyfriend was very upset on my behalf, their driver had spoken to me on the road in a manner worse than my boyfriend was talking to Chris, and unlike Chris, I couldn't hang up the phone or even move my car. Chris just repeated what his driver had said, supporting his drivers actions and implying that the driver's actions were justified. Instead of spending so much time and energy blaming other drivers, maybe they should consider the danger they are putting themselves, their passengers, and other drivers on the road. I am just a single woman, but he couldn't be sure of what I had in my possession when he got out of his vehicle. He wanted to yell at me for (according to him) putting his passengers in danger, but what was he doing when he left his vehicle on a ramp to approach an unknown driver? He is the professional driver, after all, transporting children. Safety is not the main concern of the Five Star Taxi company. Not to mention that getting out of your vehicle to yell at another driver is illegal. Like the previous Yelper mentioned, "road rage and are capable of vehicular homicide." Called the night before, still 15 min late for a 6:30 am pick up. No call, cab wreaked of smoke. Not cheap.

first time using them. overall pretty good service. few things that i noticed that bothered me: 1. showed up about 15min late that the agreed upon time 2. car smelled like smoke could have been a bad day, so i will give them another shot. i do like the fact that they use Square, so credit card purchases are no-hassle and they provide you with email receipt. read more

This is a horrible cab company. I will use it only rarely. They weren't on time, drivers were drunk and the car smelled of his shit. They re extremely rude and arrogant to their customers. Woul definitely go for Thomas cab or Bell. read more
