Though this would not be my first choice on a normal day, I was grateful for the quick service, the lady at the front looked out and brought the price down because I was not about to pay $180 for a tire unexpectedly. My new tire is holding up well. Thanks guys

ZERO STARS. Avoid, they will try to rip you off!…read more I've been to this Midas location before, but this visit was with someone I'd never worked with there before, and it was a total scam. Went in for a diagnostic after a P0304 misfire code. They quoted me $1,800 for spark plugs and coils. When I pushed for an itemized breakdown, here's what they were actually charging: - Spark plugs: $264 EACH. The exact same plug, same manufacturer, same part number, already confirmed to be what's in my engine, is $26 retail. That is a **10x markup**. Not a "shop margin," not "parts are expensive for foreign cars," a straight up 10x markup on a $26 part. - Coils: $105 each vs. $63 retail for the same direct-fit part. Over $1,400 in quoted parts for something that costs about $350 retail. For a car that needed maybe $300-400 in parts and a couple hours of labor, they tried to charge $1,800 total. That's not a tune-up quote, that's a scam. When they first called me with the quote over the phone, I told them right then it seemed high. No mention of a $50 spark plug option at that point, nothing. It wasn't until I was in person, pushed back again, and asked for my car back that the story started changing. And it gets worse. When I said the price was too high and asked for my car back, the guy didn't explain the pricing at all. He asked me what my budget was, like this is a negotiation at a used car lot, not a repair estimate based on actual part costs. When I said I just wanted my car back, he suddenly offered to drop a filter change to bring it to $1,500. Still zero explanation for why a $26 plug was $264. It wasn't until I told him I already knew the exact retail price that he suddenly dropped it to $50 a plug. That's not a coincidence, that's a shop pricing based on what they think you don't know, not what the part actually costs. Then on top of all that, this diagnostic fee went from $189 to $225 at checkout out, well over the typical fee. If you don't walk in already knowing what your parts should cost, they will absolutely take you for a ride. Do your research before you go in, or better yet, just go somewhere else.

I used to really like this place... small, neighborhood business with no complaints about the…read moreservice. HOWEVER today I called to make an appointment for state inspection for my car. I'm in my seventies and live less than a mile away. When I asked if I could get a ride back home after dropping off my car, I was told NO... I'm the only one here (which is not true, as it's a father and son operation... the son is the mechanic... the father handles the phones and taking payments) and I can't leave the shop. Now this would be a legitimate answer IF the following hadn't happened: Last summer, I called to make an appointment and for an entire week, probably at least thirty calls, no one answered the phone or returned my call after leaving a message. Turns out that they had closed down for vacation without leaving any kind of message on their phone system that they were closed for the week. When I finally got through the next week and questioned why there was no phone message that they were closed, I was told that it was too complicated and time consuming to do. So, it's OK to close for a week with no information available whatsoever, but can't drive someone home, which would take maybe ten minutes roundtrip. Now, I'm supposed to walk home, and back again to pick the car back up, in 15 to 20 degree weather? Hung up and got an appointment at Wark's in Merion, where I can walk to in less than a minute. I understand that they do excellent work.
