I went to this location for a routine oil change. Since the shop is under new management, I decided to give it a try. A few days later, I discovered a large amount of oil on my garage floor. When I brought my car back, I was told the technician hadn't sealed the oil drain plug properly. The manager offered me a free oil change, but I explained that my garage floor was stained and I expected them to take responsibility for cleaning it. He agreed, said he would make some calls, and promised to get back to me. After a week with no follow-up, I reached out again. He told me someone would come the next day--but no one ever showed. This location continues to be disappointing. The workmanship was sloppy, and the customer service even worse. Offering free oil changes isn't a solution. My garage is part of my home, and the floor needs to be professionally cleaned--or repaired if necessary. read more

I came in to have my exhaust checked. I was told I needed $4300 worth of work which included two catalytic converters and other exhaust parts. I couldn't afford that so they said they could replace the smaller catalytic converter and the other parts for $1700. I know catalytic converters are expensive so I agreed. After the work my check engine light was on. They said that was because I needed my main converter replaced and that would be $2300 more. I left there and found a place that specializes in exhaust work (I thought Midas did but evidently not). The new shop told me I didn't need the main converter that it was fine. He said I needed some sensors probably. I take my car to another shop and they told me that my smaller catalytic converter was removed and bypassed which is illegal. The new shop told me it was no guarantee my engine light would go out because I now have a converter that was deleted. He replaced two sensors for $500 and now my car runs fine and the check engine light is out. Not only did I not need a main converter for $2300. I really wonder why I was charged $1700 for a catalytic converter that wasn't put on my car. This place is a joke!!! I thought going to Midas would be fixing my car properly but I was soooo wrong. I wish I could give 0 stars, but I went to this location on Thursday to get my front passenger tire changed. I only went because I bought a tire from Midas a month or two prior, and they promote a lifetime warranty when you buy a tire from them. They give you a free replacement, which was a lie because I paid for my replacement. Friday night, I am driving on the expressway, and my tire popped on me, the same tire that I got replaced. I go to the location Saturday morning and explain what happened. The employee took the tire and showed it to the manager, Dan. Dan proceeds to tell me that it is not their tire, which I was confused because this is the tire that you guys put on my car. He then explains that they put the new tire in the back and took my tire from the back and put it in the front. I am so angry because that is not what I asked for, on top of me almost losing my life the night before, but that was not explained to me after I paid for my service. I then told him they are responsible for giving me another tire. He told me he was not giving me anything. The warranty they promote is not true, and who does something like that and not warn the customer because clearly that tire was not in good shape, and I was put in an unknown, dangerous situation. My tire literally popped. I will never go back to this location. Dan needs to be fired, and that location needs to be shut down since they do things like this and do not feel responsible. read more

Scammers.. dude tried charging me $200 to run diagnostics on my car, called another Midas and they told me $89.

Scammers, literally don't disclose that they'll charge for a warranty on brakes that you didn't ask; they'll say that they waived your evaluation/inspection fee then bill you an extra hour for labor. They broke not 1 but 2 of my tire lock keys (I had 2 sets, 1 on and a spare set) and didn't tell me after replacing my front brakes. I later discovered they were broken when I went to take my car to the dealership for rear brakes and saw that both keys were broken. The manger Andre proceeded to get disrespectful with me on the phone and tired to place blame on the dealership which hadn't even touched my vehicle. He claimed the his shop didn't damage the key despite being the only shop to work on my vehicle in the past 6 months. He offered no immediate resolution, I had to call multiple times and then was told I would have to drop off my vehicle and wait several hours for them to extract the locks (5 lugs) and replace them vs quickly swapping them out and offering to compensate me for a new lock set! So now I've wasted several hours of my day, haven't gotten my brakes replaced and out $100 for a new tire lock set. Furious is an understatement. PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COST IF YOU CAN. Lesson learned just take your car to the original dealership. Update: after having called corporate customer service to file a complaint in order to speak with somebody other than Andre regarding my tire locks - since he claimed he was the manager and no one else I could talk to (which I found out was a lie, and he is actually the locations assistant manager) I received an angry return call from none other than Andre! He proceeded to verbally assault me and harass me over the phone about filing said complaint to corporate because he " would receive the merits). He proceeded to tell me how they did me a favor (by destroying my tire locks and placing trash brake pads on my vehicle that caused it to squeak loudly every time I use the brakes), that I was ungrateful, that he felt as though he had given me superior customer service and that I was being recorded before abruptly ending the conversation/phone call. Thankfully, I was able to get in contact with two superior Midas employees: Randy and Brian, who were both very helpful and getting the situation resolved. I was able to finally able to have my brake pads and tire locks replaced today 5/3/24 (my initial visit was 3/15/24) at completely different Midas (Market St) as I felt unsafe returning to the ROXBOROUGH Midas location based on Andre's behavior. read more

I dropped my car there for inspection, and they called me, the windshield wiper needs to be replaced, and the car needs to be aligned. I approved on the phone for those things, but later on when I went to pick up the car, they billed me for rotter and break replacement, in total 1075$. I asked can I have the old parts back, they told me they throw them away. I said how come every customer got break replaced. He got pissed and started personal insult. And he went back to the garage and brought back whatever two brakes which I don't know if they are mine or not. And I said, did you just claim you throw them away? How conveniently you find them now. This location takes advantage of people who are late on their inspections. They know they have you by the neck, so you either accept the repairs they claim you need or risk a ticket. I came into the shop with a car recently inspected for a separate issue by a reputable shop in the area. The mechanic found no problems. When I switched my registration to PA, I discovered I needed an additional state inspection within a ridiculously short period. I couldn't get an appointment anywhere that was recommended to me, so I settled for Midas. The first red flag was that they had an appointment available within 30 minutes of my call. The second was that I was one of two cars in the shop. I had a bad feeling about it, but again, I was out of time. I imagine some of what happened to me was because I am female, I came to the shop alone, and I have little knowledge about cars. Within a couple of hours, I had photos sent to me of two tires followed by a call from the location. The manager, Mike, claimed that both tires needed to be replaced immediately, or I would fail inspection. The first photo was of one of my front tires that had a nail sticking out of it. I promise you that the nail was not there that morning. I purposely checked my tires before arriving at the shop to make sure everything looked above standard. The nail in the photos wasn't even bent. My second picture was of a back tire that had some rocks in the treads. I noticed them earlier. It was definitely not an issue that would cause me to fail a state inspection. I asked if they could patch one tire and replace the other. Of course, Mike said no. I asked for the final quote, and he said it would be 300 dollars, including the tires, labor, and inspection fee. When I got to the shop, I was told the car was almost ready, and the total cost was 395. I was ticked but decided to eat the cost. Then my itemized bill came. The cost had now increased to 542 dollars. Services were added on that I didn't accept including miscellaneous shop fees and labor fees. I told Mike that I did not accept the price. He pointed to my car on the lift, tires off, and said he would have to fail me if I disagreed. If I had felt more comfortable, I would have requested my car back, but this guy gave me a bad feeling. I just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. The last thing he said to me as he leaned across the countertop was something along the lines of, "I want to make sure you're a happy young lady." Again, there is something off about him. My boyfriend took my car to Roxbury today. The mechanic told him that this happens all the time. He said that their tactics are abysmal and embarrassing. Midas put two of the new tires on one side of the car, and damaged the TPM sensor. On Monday Roxbury is going to have to correct their shoddy work. I took it to Firestone less than a half a mile away, and they said the only thing I needed to pass is break pads and rotors, and for this and the inspection it will be around $450. I think this shop forgot it's illegal for automotive repair shops to engage in unfair and deceptive acts. This place is awful and the manager has no people skills. The manager called me after they did a state inspection and stated my car needed new front struts. I responded with I want my car back to get a second opinion and he became so unprofessional and said my car isn't safe and it needs to be towed from the garage. I feel like this place scams people. I first went for new battery and was told the alternator needed to be replaced. They charged me $1100 for reburnished one with battery! During this they promised free oil change but didn't have the supplies needed to do then so wanted me to come back. I went back for this and after two hours they called to tell me I needed brakes because they were in the "red zone" and dangerous. The car was just inspected 2 weeks ago and passed fine! Why did they take the tires off to check brakes anyway when it was there for an oil change??? Scammers. Kept trying to convince me to get this done saying they would do for $598 with a coupon. DECEPTIVE PRACTICES Summary: 1. they said my brakes were so bad, such a safety issue, they couldn't release the car. This was not true. 2. They said they use OEM parts. They didn't. 3. They said it would take 3 hours of shop time. It took a little over an hour. NOTE: if something now happens to your car after having it looked at there, you have a great case for winning a suit against them. They have told us, up front, that they are liable for any accident you get in involving anything they looked at. Not what they service, what they "look" at. I took our 2015 Honda vehicle in for brake service. I knew that the rear brakes were bad, because I heard them scrapping. The service counter person called me back and said the front rotors and pads were serviceable to thin, and the rear pads, rotors and one of the cylinders was bad, and that we should change everything in the rear. They quoted me $2,300 for the whole job. I live in a more expensive part of the country, and even here that would be outrageous. So I called around. Richmond Auto quoted my $980 to change all the pads and rotors, and both rear cylinders. Maggiano's quoted me $450 for the front axle, $550 for the rear axel, and questioned the need for new cylinders (as did I). I called Midas back and said never mind, I'll pick up the car. The desk guy said he couldn't let the car go because the brakes were unserviceable, and they'd be liable. This is not true for so many reasons it's not funny, but at the time I was treating it like he believed this, thanked him for his concern, but told him I was picking up the car. He said he would only release it to a tow truck. To condense 2 hours of hassle into a few words, it cost me less and got me back to vacationing to do the following: Let them change the rear rotors and pads, and one rear cylinder. That cost me just under $1,300. NOTE: this is more than the whole job at other shops. If you know brakes, the vintage car I took them actually has 3 separate brake systems. There's the 2 usual ones, controlled separately from the master cylinder, and that car also has a hand emergency brake that controls to drums inside the rear brake. Even if they disks in the rear wouldn't function, the other 2 would. If you think you cannot stop a car using the hand brake, you have never driven a manual transmission. As a follow up, the "OEM" calipers they installed have already rusted, after being in the car for less than a calendar quarter. Interesting, and the front OEM calipers haven't rusted in 8 years. As a side note: I sent a relative in to pick up the completed car as I was busy touring Philadelphia. During that time, he reports having heard the counter guy telling people, to the effect: "Good thing you brought the car in. It has a serious safety problem." Avoid this place. Yes, the counter people are very nice. That doesn't mean they know what they're doing, and that doesn't mean they won't rip you off. read more

Initially I just felt stupid but now as almost 24 hours have gone by since getting my car back I feel cheated and intentionally mislead. I rarely ever go to chain mechanic shops, but seeing as this was a simple procedure I decided to give Midas a chance. HUGE mistake on my part. I dropped my car off on Wednesday 2/6 to get simple state emissions and safety inspections and was told I would have my car back the next day by 5pm. The following day (Thursday 2/7) I received a phone call from Midas and was told that I would need a new tie rod to pass the safety inspection. This was a fix that I had been anticipating since my usual mechanic had told me this would need to be done soon. I asked how much money this would cost me and I was told "around $300 but we offer financing with zero interest for 90 days." I thought, ok perfect. I can pay $100 a month for 3 months and have this paid off. I was also told that I would need my lightbulbs above my license plate replaced and that they would be $1.99 each plus $10 for labor. I told them to make these repairs as they sounded affordable and I would need them to pass my inspection. I assumed I would be paying around $600 total with the cost of these parts, inspection, and labor. Upon arriving that evening to pick up my car my bill was $1,958. I was in complete shock and didn't say anything because I honestly felt incredibly stupid but looking back now I'm not sure why I didn't open my mouth. Additional repairs were done to my car that I did NOT approve of. The full price of the estimate was NOT given to me on the phone. Again, when I asked how much these repairs would cost I was quoted around $300!!!! Upon looking at the bill I see he meant $300 PER EACH TIE ROD, PLUS the same price for labor. NONE of this was quoted to me on the phone. I drive a 2012 Chevrolet sonic that has 198,000 miles on it and has major cosmetic damages. My car is worse less than what I was charged for repairs and the employees at Midas absolutely knew that, yet still went through with these repairs without being upfront about the total price. Had I known the total price I would have said not to do the repairs. I am a young, single, teacher working two jobs just to get by. With the cost of rent, utilities, student loans, and the generally high cost of living I am constantly struggling with finances and being able to support myself independently. I even joked to the worker (Mike) on the phone about only having $100 to my name. I GENUINELY HAVE NO IDEA HOW I WILL EVER PAY THIS OFF, ESPECIALLY BEFORE THE 90 DAYS IS UP AND THE INCREDIBLY HIGH INTEREST RATE SETS IN!!!!!!! If for some reason you ever do business with this SCAM of a mechanics shop be sure to be VERY specific when asking how much your repairs will cost or else they will choose to just say the price of one item. This is an INCREDIBLY misleading practice and I am now stuck with a debt that I have no idea how I will ever pay off for a car that is worth probably $1,500. This place is a perfect example of everything that you don't want in your auto repair shop. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (e.g.). I took my vehicle to another nearby shop to have my front brakes done exactly 8 days prior to taking it to this Midas. The other shop inspected my vehicle and quoted me on 2 issues that I should address going forward. I then took my vehicle back to this Midas because 1 of the areas listed was under warranty here. After having my oil changed. The unscrupulous sales person at this location presented me with a list of approximately 9 items that needed to be repaired immediately on my vehicle totaling over $3,100. None of the items included the item that he knew that I was under warranty for. After presenting the sales person at this Midas with the results of the inspection report from the other shop he changed his tune and said, "well you probably really want to take care of THIS issue". The 1 issue that he was referring from his list of 9 was the only issue (a valve) also listed by the other auto repair shop. So then ask yourself...why even list the other 8 when you know that they are not needed? Are they really doing the work or just billing customers for unneeded repairs? How many hard working people are you scamming because they are not getting second and third opinions? To conclude when I told the salesman that I only wanted the 2 items done that were stated by the other shop because 1 was under warranty by this Midas. He returns with another itemized bill for me with a system flush added on ($75 additional) that was totally unnecessary. I of course declined that had my 2 items done and will never be back warranty or no warranty!!!! Suggestion: find a privately owned neighborhood garage that you can build a relationship and trust. It was my first time at a Midas & it lived up to my expectations. I don't usually go to a chain but I received a coupon so I figured I'd give it a try. They were able to take my car right when I called. Everything went smooth & the help I received from Charles was great. Not only did he let me know about a few concerns the mechanic took note of but he also explained what they were & why they happened & recommended I take care of them soon, but didn't push me to do it right then. My first words of advice before going to this place, if you're a female or look like you don't know anything about cars in any way, use extreme caution at this establishment. I went yesterday because I needed an oil change and it was close to me so I figured what was the harm. I should have checked the reviews before I handed my keys over... First, I said I wanted my oil changed and they tried to sell me this oil that was like, $90 in comparison to the one that I actually needed that was $60. I knew this was unnecessary so I was smart to say no. In my non-expert opinion, they didn't seem too different from each other, other than a couple fluffy words in the description of the expensive one. Then, the guy tries telling me that my wheels should probably be balanced since apparently that needs to be done every 5000 miles. I never heard of this before and never did it during previous oil changes so I was like, uh yeah sure. I definitely should have said no and I regret that now. The oil change itself took forever. I thought oil changes were supposed to be relatively quick but I sat there for quite awhile, granted I did walk in but I was the only one there and they took me right away so I figured I was fine for time. Before getting the oil change, the guy told me they give your car a "look over" to see what else is wrong with it. So, eventually a guy comes out with a whole list of things wrong with my car. My car is relatively new, I'm the only owner, and it recently hit 40k miles so it shouldn't have many problems. The man proceeds to tell me that my back brakes and rotors should be replaced, my tire monitoring system isn't working, my air filter is dirty, and my engine needs to be flushed... Oh, and that my inspection was up (which I knew) and if they did it, they wouldn't pass me. I'm not an idiot and yeah I might not know a lot about cars but I knew something was up when he gave me this list, especially because my brakes and rotors were replaced about a month ago. So, I said no and I just wanted them to do what I came there for. The guy definitely looked mad about me saying no, he didn't get snippy but you could tell he was displeased with my answer. Finally, I get my keys back and the first thing I did when I get in my car is called my dad who is very experienced with cars. I told him everything they said and he laughed his ass off. He knew right away that they were trying to take advantage of me and told me that when I go to have my car inspected to go see a more reputable mechanic. So, I went today for that inspection, to a mechanic that has been used by my boyfriend's family for years and I expressed everything that Midas told me. He inspected my car and said everything they told me was false and my car is completely fine!!! So, my take away from this whole review, do not go to this establishment for more than an oil change and when they do their "look over" don't trust their opinion, go to a professional who won't try to gip you out of your money. read more

In the same day, the team had replaced the alternator and affected components (battery and serpentine belt), and I was able to drive back home. I've gone here a few times with my Honda and my girlfriends Chevy because of the fact that I was new to the area and had nowhere else to go. DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE!!...the amount of money this business stole from us is insane. They were supposed to clean a solenoid in the transmission and in the process destroyed the whole thing. I called once because the CEL was still on and they "fixed the issue" meanwhile CEL went back on a few days later and I Finally got that issue resolved by someone else by just unplugging the battery so everything could recalibrate. Meanwhile Midas went into the transmission and (coming from another shop) put the gasket on wrong, caused a leak, lost a screw and put a different screw in its place and tried to cover it up by sealing it with silicon. I was told to call Midas and all they said was "we don't do transmissions" THEN WHY DID YOU TRY TO FIX THE CAR IN THE FIRST PLACE?. We brought the car to AAMCO and they said the same thing "why would those idiots touch a transmission?" Anyway, the cost of repairs for this slow leak is substantial and my girlfriend did contact customer service to advise least try and be reimbursed the $1000 she spent at MIDAS. All customer service did was have the crap team call us up and offer to look at it again with someone who specializes in Transmissions. TOO LATE NOW. Worst experience I have ever had with an auto shop, complete with condescending and dishonest staff. Went in for a leak and turned out I needed a new tire pressure sensor too. After it was fixed and the tire pressure light was still blinking, I brought it back. Ended up returning FOUR times because they didn't believe me that something was still wrong and kept telling me I must have a flat tire. When they finally listened, they said I had another broken sensor. They also severely overfilled my tires twice (55 instead of 33) and gave me an attitude when I requested that they remove some of the air. Even after they put the "correct amount in each tire" the one was still at 41. They also lost my keys and lied to me about what happened to them (originally claimed that someone took them and they were waiting for the customer to "call back" about returning them, then claimed that they were swiped from the counter by someone and they needed to check the tapes to see who has them) I would STRONGLY urge people to stay away from this location. read more

We had to do the annual service on our 2006 Subaru Baja on 12/26. Unfortunately front strut needed replacing so part had to be ordered and then bad bolt. Combination of new year plus only 8 viable bolts in the country meant we were looking at a week without the car, which our daughter needs. Andre spent an hour to get two bolts on order. Mike, however, came through this morning through a local auto parts supplier and today our Xena came home! In spite of being busy Midas were so supportive and professional. they are untrustworthy. i took my car to replace my brakes. they told me that besides brake, rotors and calipers need to be replaced and gave me an estimate of over $2000. they told me i should not be driving this car. i took my car to the dealership instead who said break pads are low and should be replaced, but not completely out. they did the work for $290. i will never step into another midas store ever again. read more

Charged me more than $250 dollar in labor for simply changing a starter. I had to complain to get it dropped to that from $330. Blatantly lied to me and said they would only charge me for the hours it really took, but I saw my car in the lot less than an hour after it went in and still got charged at least double time. The new management is terrible. I scheduled an appointment on Friday for Monday. I specifically explained that I was leaving work early to bring car into shop and specifically asked if it could be ready before 4:45 because I had cover a shift and could not be late. I was assured it would be finished on time. I dropped the car off on time and it was not ready until after 5:15. I had to get two new tires. The one was leaking air (which is why I brought it in) and I needed another tire due to a bubble on the side. The manager Mike chuckled and spoke in a condescending when he asked "did you even notice the bubble? Did you hit a curb or something?" which was followed by another chuckle. I was already running late and paid. When I started up my car to leave, I noticed that the sensor was still on telling me I had low tire pressure. I immediately parked and came back in and asked them to look at it. I explained the same thing happened when I left last time and I was told just to "drive on it for a bit". Mike went back to the shop and came back and told me just to "drive on it and it should go away". I went and drove and the light still didn't go off. I called right away and scheduled to come back Wednesday. The next day I realized that the brand new tires were installed in the back of my car. I informed them that my car is front wheel drive before they changed my tires. So I called the next day to confirm appt, I also requested that they rotate my tires. I also asked Mike to please finally look into the clicking noise I was hearing from my car. I had asked him to this on Monday and it was never checked. I was then asked if I could come in earlier because the shop closes at 6, I informed them that I am coming from work in northeast Philadelphia will get there around 5:15. Mike literally asked me to come in early to fix his mistake. Alex who was the mechanic for my second appt. argued with mike about changing my tires. He then changed them in black slides and not real shoes. He was visibly annoyed and yelled as he peeled into the shop "she needs an axle!!!" as he begrudgingly changed my tires. When the "work" was "finished" Mike told me I needed a new sensor for my tire. I then brought up the axle issue and he said "oh you need a new one. I can schedule a free estimate for you". So, I'm actually really surprised that these ratings were so low. I went in today to get my brakes checked. I'd had my brakes done at another Midas in Queens, NY, and they were making a howling sound. Not good, obviously. I took the car back to that Midas and they claimed not to hear/see anything wrong. So, I took it into this shop today. I walked in without an appointment, already frustrated. I misunderstood the employee and manager when they asked me to just wait until their mechanic was back from break (pregnancy hormones), and stormed back to my car. As I sat there, preparing to take off, the manager, Dave, walked all the way back out to my car. He told me that he refused to let me drive off of his lot with bad breaks, and that he would have someone take a look at them ASAP. He definitely didn't have to do that, but I'm glad he did. He went out of his way, and I'm so thankful. After waiting just a few minutes, my car was being looked at. I saw the mechanic pointing out the issues, and talking to Dave about them. A few minutes later, Dave called me into the garage and started explaining that the brakes the other Midas used were cheap, non-Midas, non-ceramic brakes, and that they were performing in a defective manner on my car. This didn't surprise me since the other pads Midas the Queens location replaced on my car were defective, too. He told me that he'd take care of everything through my warranty, and not to worry. My car was ready shortly after, and there were no issues. No squeaking, no nothing. I would definitely recommend this place. Try to make an appointment, if possible. read more

IF THERE IS ANY REVIEW FOR YOU TO GO OFF OF, MAKE IT THIS ONE!!! I would like to start off with Mike and Andre. Please resign. Thanks. There is a reason your reviews are so bad. Does Midas Corporate not care about that? There needs to be consequences ASAP. Horrible experience, the worst customer service/experience, absolute thieves, rude attitudes, and angry customers. Its a sad world when you ask for a simple oil change and get a call back saying that you now owe hundreds of dollars for other things THAT YOU DID NOT NEED! Mike claims to be the manager but acted like a child on the phone. Threatening my car be towed with no resolution. All I wanted to make sure was that I was not being charged these bull crap things that they claim need to be done. They hadnt started these things so I thought it was a good time to let them know. "Oops" Mike said "too late". In a time where people are struggling on money and they decide to hammer you with unnecessary services without your consent. Again, Mike and Andre, please do better.
