Given we are both Chinese, I believed him. So I left my car there and asked him not to work on it until he gave me a quote. I didn't hear back from them the next day, so I called. They told me it's going to cost more than 1000$ to fix the window. I think it's too expensive and wanted to figure out something else. However, when I went to pick up my car, Lei's insisted on charging me 45$ for the mechanic inspection. I didn't think it was fair, but as a lady who wants her car back, I had no choice but pay the 45$. No one informed me that leaving my car there would cost me 45$. In fact, I think they set me up for this. When I asked if they'd be able to skip some of the recommended repairs due to budgetary constraints, he refused, saying they would get a bad reputation if they let a car leave without doing every possible repair, and they would refuse to service my car rather than work around my budget. That is predatory upcharging in a nutshell. I definitely would not trust them to responsibly and fairly assess and repair my vehicle without overcharging me for unnecessary work.
