I came here because my battery wasn't starting in the morning. I was able to start it up but I figured it would be best to get it tested. Took it to this pepboys where they diagnosed it for free right away. They ended up telling me it was bad and asked if I wanted to get it done there or somewhere else. They didn't give me any pressure to get it done there. So I told them I needed to call the other place to see if my warranty was still good. I ended up doing it there and got a new battery. Took about an hour and a half because they didn't have my battery available and the one they did have didn't fit correctly. I waited for a bit in the waiting area which was nice for them to have. I ended up leaving and getting some lunch but they kept me updated with texts from an automated system. Great customer service. Fast and efficient. read more

Very disappointing experience. We waited about two hours because we were told our vehicle would be ready. After all that time, we found out they hadn't even started the oil change. We had to wait even longer because the service wasn't completed until the very end. On top of that, the customer service was poor and the communication was terrible. Being told that the vehicle is ready when the work hasn't even been done is unacceptable and shows a lack of organization and respect for customers' time. I expected a simple oil change to be handled professionally, but instead I wasted several hours. I would not recommend this place based on my experience. I ended up getting a tow over there because it was close to work, and they ended up having a drop off box. At first I was slightly iffy about leaving my car but then I woke up to a phone call about them seeing my car and ready to examine it. They got on it almost instantly and had my car for about a total of 4 hours. Once I gave the go ahead for them to put the tires on it took what maybe less than an hour and all 4 were redone. Charles was the associate who helped me get some tires. He used his knowledge of what my car required and was able to help me find the best tires for what I do with my car. Came in on Christmas Eve because I needed a tire and installation. I would've gone elsewhere but my normal place to go was closed. While waiting for my car. I decided to look online and found out that I can purchase the tire and pay online. I decided to pay online because Diana, the lady at the front desk advised they don't take Apple Pay and I didn't have the card on hand that I wanted to use. When checking out and picking my up my keys, I told Diana that I already paid online. She had the deer in the headlights look. She swore that her computer system doesn't have access to their website, Pepboys.com. I told her it allowed me to select the location, make an appointment and pay for the tire and installation online. I even had the confirmation number and proof it was paid for. Diana was rude and unprofessional continuing to say that I'd have to call customer service. I asked her for the number and she said she didn't have it. Umm.. don't you work for the company? You don't have a contact sheet in case you need to call yourself? She snarked at me saying, 'What do you want me to do about it? Google the number for you?' I mean isn't that part of the customer service job? How am I supposed to know? I ended up double paying for the service because she wouldn't release my key even after providing the confirmation number and proof that it was deducted from my account. I had to discount the charge with my bank because of the double charge. AND what pissed me off the most, was when paying for the 2nd time, the card machine did allow me to use Apple Pay. I wouldn't have had to go through all this if she gave the me the correct information the first time around. When paying in store, the amount was higher than what I paid online. I didn't use a coupon online or nothing. Had to ask to price match it. Diana was not only rude and unprofessional, but knowledgeable. Please have corporate retrain you. It didn't seem like she had any training at all. It felt like the person scheduled to work called in and called a friend last minute who doesn't even work there, to cover for them. This review is solely based on the customer service. The actual service was quick and my new tire was put on with no problem - 5 stars to the tech. I have my car serviced with them for long time. They have problems so many time with me. They have ever over charged the replacement parts. For labor, I understand the cost, over charge the parts and took over 3 months to get money back. Last time, I changed engine oil with them, they promised to rotate the tires, but they didn't and never noticed me. So, this time when I go back to change engine oil as before, Package including rotation tires and inspections. When I went to pick up my car, they didn't give me the inspection report. I have to ask them. Then, he asked me to look on msg and click link. Then, report state recommend to replace tires (my car just bought less than 15 months with 20k mileage). I wonder why tread run out so fast. He told me for safety can't rotate your tires. Also last time they didn't rotate tire too. (Didn't notice me last time) So my front tire left only 4/10 and rear tire 7/10. When I come to check at Costco, they said they can rotate my tires without problem. Very disappointed at this location. I came in Thanksgiving weekend, 11/26/21, with an issue about shaking while decelerating / baking and accelerating. It was diagnosed to be brake issue without inspection. Offered to have it inspected. I was called with an estimate and provided authorization. I went back quickly and observed the work being done while I was sitting at the waiting lounge. I did not see anyone work on it for the next hour and a half. I went out to observe closer and still no one. I then followed it up with a service attendant and sad it would be done in 15 minutes. I trusted them that it was. Surely, it was done, paid it off and drove off. Five minutes to my drive to my next appointment, the shaking was still there. I couldn't turn around as I was trying to make it to my appointment. I then took it back yesterday, 12/04/21, to try to follow up. An hour and a half after, I got a call saying there was no issue. There's no shaking and the "Service Manager" claimed they found other things. I then asked - if it's related to my concern? He said no. Why did they not find the problem related to the "shaking" concern? He offered for me to test drive with one of his associates and so I went back quickly. We drove around - there was no shaking. I asked during the test drive if the new findings are related to the "shaking" - the associated said no and then retracted and said "probably." How did these newly found issues not discovered last Thanksgiving weekend when I originally showed up with my concern? I asked the service manager for an estimate and gave me an almost $2,000 bill (see photo below). I was disturbed by all these. I'm praying and hoping that there was no sabotage with the newly found issues. I hope someone in the corporate office can look into this. This is not my only run in with this location. At one time, I came back for a warranty and the part I had warranty for was claimed to be un available and so they did a replacement of the lower less inferior type and that the warranty continues. I have lost confidence with this place and I'm not sure they have the best interest of the consumers. read more

This was a hard one since I really liked this location. Came here to get new tires since we had a coupon to get 100.00 rebate. I think the guy helping us was new which I get we were very patient with him. It didn't seem like he new how to navigate through the system, the other guy had helped us before and I wish he would of been the one helping us. Not even 5 minutes we get a call asking us if we had given him the key we said yes you asked for it, he asked are you sure! Get a call back they located it. We specifically asked him to also check why our windshield fluid was not coming out and of course he forgot. Than the situation about the rebate, he had no idea what we were talking about, I asked to call someone and they said just go to the tires website. What they didn't tell us in order to get the rebate we would have to apply for their credit card or good years credit card to receive the 100.00. Since we used a different payment we only get 50.00. This to me is very poor customer service. Top it off he tells us that he will check the windshield and forgot to do it again!!! But procedes to tell us we can purchase it next door for 16.00 and install it. If we knew how to do that we would!! Crazy this experience was bad all around. My brother had an appointment today for an oil change at 11:30. About an hour later after giving them his car, they tell him it'll be a little bit of a wait. 3 HOURS LATER, my dad went in to see what was taking so long. Finally getting ready to pay, and the guy is typing on the computer for like 10 minutes. Turns out he got a free oil change and tire rotation, which was the least they could do. Usually I go with the dealership for service. This time I got tempted by PB's pricing that worked about half of the dealership's price and also their quick availability. I had a problem with the front axle on one side. I'd had an issue there for many months and decided to finally get it fixed. I also got an oil change done. My initial impression was good so I left a raving review elsewhere. Then I started noticing some minor oddities. Like, the service light wasn't reset. Ok, a minor thing but it showed me there was no attention to detail. I brushed it off and excused it by the relatively low price. Then I noticed that the tires hadn't been rotated. The paperwork said they had been. I didn't like that but hey, still kind of minor right? Then 2-3 days later I noticed the same troubling noise from the axle area but now on the other side! That was completely new. I went back and complained that this is very odd and even if this wasn't foul play at work, at the very least they should have checked the other side also. I ended up with another repair, another down time and paid in full. At this point the price savings were eaten up and my taste for this place had been soured. About 2 months later another service light comes on. Oil is low! Wth, I just had an oil change, I'd never had low oil issues before. Did they even make the oil change? Did they skimp on the amount of oil? I will never know but looking at my experience so far I wouldn't put it past them. Moral of the story: Cheap isn't always cheaper and fast isn't always faster. If you have an OK/nice car maybe don't go there. If it's a beater with some minor issues maybe that's fine as long as you tell them exactly what the problem is and don't expect the slightest bit of extra attention. Don't expect them to spend any time on checking anything else of the car. read more

My car battery died and had to get started this morning, so I was stressing about getting a new battery. Charles was very helpful when I came in and made the process very easy and chill. He was also very cheerful and we threw a couple jokes back and forth, it was very pleasant! They got my battery changed in a bit over an hour and it was very painless. I used to go to change my oil and now I'm going to stop it because they messed up when they did my oil changed recently... the mechanic name is Jeremy he didn't close the cap after the oil changed and oil spilled all over my engine. I did the oil changed like regular basis and I took my Honda on Sunday and drove 3 days (during driving I smelled oil and heard different sounds coming from my engine), thank God that I opened my hood and found what a mess.... , I spoke with the manager Mark, he assured me that if anything happens to my vehicle (Honda Civic) I can bring it to them and get service. Gone to this location a lot over the years and things have generally been OK. Yes, the waits at Pep Boys are super long, but I manage to do other things with my time. This time however, things were not ok. So I took the car in for an oil change, brought my own oil and oil filter. Also requested a cabin air filter replacement, as the many fires in the mountains have caused my AC to smell of smoke. Anyhoo, it was a long wait and the tasks were done, but then they said my battery was messed up. They ran a battery test and it said I needed a new one. However, I had purchased it from the other Chino Pep Boys so I needed to go to that one to get a replacement. Fine. The next day I went to the other Pep Boys and they ran the battery test and it turns out they tested the battery wrong at this location. Battery was fine overall. I'm not coming back here so 2 stars is me being generous and I don't need to be generous if I'm paying for a service. They said a little over an hr for a tire change, called me an hr or so after to tell me I should change 4 tires and I said no thank you. This tells me the car was checked on and looked at to determine that which could take longer than just doing THE DAMN TIRE! I called back 4hrs later and was put on hold for 20min. I hung up and called right back and Carlos answered available to help me even though I was on hold for 20 min before I called back. A total of 5hrs later I was able to come pick up the car for a tire swap. I got there and they gave me a slight discount for the wait, because it was obvious. Had my oil change on 8/23. My check engine light came on a week ago and I finally got it to my mechanic on 9/24. Found out part of my problem was that the oil was extremely overfilled causing hydro lock.
