Went in for an AC diagnosis and although the quote to fix the issue was half the cost of my car (not their fault and I expected it, i drive a 23 year old car) but she gave me a receipt with the quote just in case I wanted to shop around for cheaper prices. The diagnostics on my 2004 4 runner was as I expected, the time frame it took to get the repair done which was replacing the alternator was not. We dropped the car off at 11 am and had to wait untill 10 am the next morning. When my wife pulled away from the shop the car died, she restarted it then it died again. She made it back to the shop thankfully. The service manager Jerry stated that this model car needed to readjust due to the repair. I did not expect to have a small problem like this after a professional repair was made. Quality of repair- still under review, quality of service still under review. Shoppers due not be afraid to ask silly questions like will my car suddenly die after you made a minor repair to the starting charging system of your vehicle. read more

I had a problem with Pep Boys many years ago and they have NOT changed. My daughter in law brought her car here to get a water pump put on - they charged her over $500 to do the work and when she arrived to pick up her car, it couldn't even make it off the lot! They took the car back, kept it for over 3 weeks (claiming only one guy could work on it) and when they finally called her, they tried to charge her almost $2000! They didn't even deduct the $500 they originally charged! Of course the manager wasn't around to talk to, so my daughter in law is in the process of disputing the charges with her bank. And if that doesn't work, I advised her to take them to small claims court. They claimed they did so much that it took 2 pages to print out! Don't EVER take your car to Pep Boys, ESPECIALLY this one. read more

Required 2 new tires. Made an appt online for 9 am. They later called, I assume to confirm, did not leave a message. However, when I showed up, they were ready for me and my info was in their system. Friendly lady checked me in, told me an hour or less. Price was competitive, and they did not complete an alignment and explained why. Took about 2 hours which is why I gave 4 stars not 5. I took my car for a tune up and was "told" valve cover was leaking. They gave me a quote and I went back 6 months later. They didn't honor the previous quote and raised the price. Anyway, I had to get it fixed so asked them to fix the leak. After it's done, I asked where actually leakage was coming from and the manager, Jerry, replied "We didn't check it. We just replaced valve cover gaskets as you told us to do." Leaking from valve cover was what I was told by one of their mechanics 6 months ago, and they just took face value of the word and didn't even clarify if it was factual or not. Leak might be coming from somewhere else. These people are ridiculous and so unprofessional. Just money hungry grease balls. Then, it becomes more nightmare. Now my engine doesn't run properly. It shakes crazy due to misfiring. I went right back in and forced them to solve the problem. That was Saturday afternoon. It's Monday morning now, the same engine problem happened again on my commute and got stuck and losing hours and wages. How nice taking a car to get it broken? Never ever come back again!!!! I had the worst customer service from them over the past couple days. Yesterday I arrived for my 11 o'clock appointment to get my check engine light looked at and to investigate a knocking noise in my front right wheel. I dropped off my key and awaited a call to hear whats wrong. I did not get any phone call til 2:30 where the lady who called me(who totally knew nothing about cars) said I had two issues. 1st issue was with the engine which would cost me around $250 and a 2nd issue with my front wheel that would cost an additional $260 bucks. I not being able to afford both said for them to go ahead and fix the engine issue and I would wait on the wheel issue. She said okay they would start working on it and she hung up. At 5 o'clock i had still not received any phone call back from this establishment and so i called up there. Basically I got told that they had not even started fixing my car... this is 6 HOURS after it has been there mind you.. and that other cars came in that they had to take car of and that they are working on getting back to it.. the man assured me they would give me a call back when they knew when it would be done.. Pep Boys closes at 8 and I never got any phone call til this morning at 9 oclock when the very nice guy(billy) who i had dropped my car off to the day before noticed my car was still there. He explained that he was unsure why my car was still there and why it was taking so long and he apologized and gave me a full run down of what was actually wrong with my car.. Best part is that this guy who knew what he was talking about said that my total car damages to fix it is actually 1700 dollars(im sure this price wont include the "labor" charges your gonna charge me for having my car there all day and all night).. thats a little far off from the 500 i was quoted the day before huh... the engine part that has to be fixed is actually $650 dollars. so now im having to come up with an additional $400 to get my car fixed because the people at this business don't have any clue what they are talking about and I'm pretty sure I am getting scammed for more money. I told him to go ahead and fix the engine cause I definitely don't have $1700. He said okay and he would get someone working on it. It is now 4:45pm on sunday. 29 hours later and i still do not have my car. Every time I call up(which has been 3 times today) there no one can give me any estimated time of when my car will be done. I pretty sure when you fix cars everyday you can say oh this process takes roughly 3 to 4 hours or can give someone some sort of time scale to work off of instead I get well were not sure but we will call you when its done.. oh yeah? like you guys called me last night before you closed?? cause you didn't. I dropped my car off thinking it would be a few hours maybe six hours and I've had to make arrangements all day to get around cause I have no transportation. Stay away from this place!!! read more

This review is long over due, but much deserved. I have taken my fiances' car to this pep boys numerous times. I live almost two hours from her and it feels good to have a company that is close to her that I can trust to finish the job and get her back on the road safely. Bruce and Joe are detailed in their description of repairs and I always know what is to be repaired and the cost. We have been in many times and their level of service is the same everytime, so I expect NOTHING less. They also ensure the service is expedited and she is without her ONLY means of transportation for the shortest time possible. Jerry has taken the time to explain repairs and even takes us out to the shop to show us exactly what/where the problems is. I have brought this car in for routine work (oil changes, tires, wheel alignments) and more serious problems (gas line leaks, rusty gas tank, fuel injectors). Each time the problem was fixed and I could rest easy knowing she was in good hands. One of the things that I like most is the pep boys rewards. I am about my money and I love it when my money makes money!! We signed up for the rewards and for each dollar spent, you earn points and get vouchers (equivalent as cash) to use on anything in the store...including service and parts. We used the tow service once and as a rewards member, they took $10 off the tow. They send out monthly coupons and we take advantage of the oil changes for $19.99. Ken has worked on the car the most and I trust and value his experience and dedication to fix the problem. Ken and Adam replaced the gas tank and fixed the brake line. Not to mention, they told me that they wouldn't leave until the job was finished and stayed WAY past closing. Where else can you get that kind of service? We trusted Andy to inspect the car when a strong smell of raw gas was invading the car. He identified the problem and wrote a fair estimate to repair the fuel injectors. (They even price matched the fuel injectors from another auto part store). Dan replaced the fuel injectors and completed the job faster than the estimate time. Billy is very knowledgeable about vehicle repairs and goes over the costs in detail. He lets me view the computer and I know there are no secret added on charges. Lastly, we have Robby and Kyle at check in and check out. They provide good customer service with a smile. When I move my fiance to KY after we get married, we will truly miss this place!!! I went to get all new tires for my wife's SUV last week. I had a great experience from Will who help me at the counter to get the right tires for the job and Ed who did the work and found the bad shocks ! That my wife was to replace at 70,000 miles not 117,000 lol. Then the manager Jerry who offered the kids and I a ride to the nearest relative house since the wait time had changed now. Jerry also taken the time to explain the shocks job from the smooth ride to how it keeps the tires evenly on the pavement so the wear is across the tire not just one spot. After all the work was finished they check the aliment and showed me it was off and corrected it. My wife's SUV drives as smooth as the day we got it new in 2006. I was so pleased with the service I taken my mom's SUV there two days later for all new tires and ball joints. I got the same great service that day also! I just found my new garage for all my vehicle's. Thanks guys ! read more
