Let's see...how should I start about my experience with Pep Boys in Destin, FL.... Three days ago, I took my car in to have my battery replaced. I was told it would be an hour at the most, I was there for nearly 3. For a BATTERY.... That's fine, went next door and had breakfast...finally, someone comes in, stares at the batteries for about 5 minutes, pulls one, and goes out to my car. Comes back a short while later and tells me my terminals need to be replaced and the cables need to be cut. It was going to be an additional $60....still fine... A short while later, they call my name, I pay my $180 and I leave. I go to work. When I try to start my car again....nothing. My father drives to my office, looks at the battery, pulls the cables and sees that they are corroded still, which means they were not cut down far enough or brushed clean. He cleans them as best he can, reconnects, and my car starts.... Fast forward to today...car doesn't start AGAIN. I call Pep Boys...the manager drives out to where I am, takes a look at the car, I explain what happened the other day, he disregards it. He bangs on the starter, the car won't start. He tries jumping off the battery, no dice. He says it's my starter. Tells me if I want the car running tonight, I'd have to buy the part myself and have my car towed to their store across the street. I think I'm stuck, so I go buy the part, but decided to call another mechanic to install it that will do it cheaper. The mechanic comes to me...tests the battery, it is good...then asks me to crank the car. He sees the starter spark...he says it's the cables. Pulls them, cuts them down further to find clean wires, takes off the painted terminal Pep Boys sold me and replaces it with an unpainted version, reconnects the battery, and the car starts. I know this is long, but if you are a single woman looking for car repair, do not go to Pep Boys....the current manager is rude and is obviously not very knowledgeable. I will be finding many more places online to warn people about this shady business. Caveat Emptor.... read more

I've brought multiple cars here over the last few years and I've always been treated so well! The staff is kind and respectful and always goes above and beyond to help me. I blew a tire this week and they had me back on the road in no time even though they were crazy busy. Five star service! read more

I am self employed. Dont have free time. I made a reservation for tires to be installed Sunday 9 am. This was the first appointment available on their website. When I arrived and told the employee I had made a reservation he looked at me as though I was an idiot. He told me the don't do reservations on Sunday and can I leave my truck. Went in on a busy morning in September for a tire patch. Mason was very friendly and helpful. He said it would be a couple of hours before he could look at it, which was understandable since the waiting room was full. I went next door for breakfast and they were calling me just 30 minutes later to say my car was ready! I returned to find my car running, parked by the front door, cool with the ac running, ready to go. I thanked Mason profusely for getting to me so fast and he said I was ready to go and didn't owe them anything. I said, "No way! That's not right!" and he insisted saying "No more flat tires for you please". Not only were they incredibly fast, kind, and helpful they were also very generous to this frazzled single mom 600 miles from home. Go see Mason and the gang! What a fantastic experience. Service was extremely fast. The tires for my Infiniti M37 were $500 less expensive than Goodyear in Miramar Beach. Matt was extra attentive. I was expecting some brake needs as well. They priced them very reasonably and kept the service running right along. The team there are all friendly and work very hard. read more

If you have a car that is nice & you want it to stay in perfect condition - do NOT use this business! My husband took my Mercedes SL500 convertible which is garage kept, never has highway miles & in perfect shape to have a new tire installed. BIG mistake - they scratched the wheel when installing the tire. The manager, Matthew Kotchkowski was called by my husband and he said it couldn't have been done by them. He was not helpful and honestly rude and offered no assistance - told my husband to call insurance person & handle with them. Take responsibility when your employees make a mistake & try hiring competent people to know how to do their jobs. We will never use this company ever again. read more

I needed a new car battery, we went to Walmart and it was a 3 HOUR wait to change a battery. We then called pep boys and they said they had that battery in stock. We went and it literally took 10 minutes start to finish to get a new battery and pay. And the price was equivalent to what I would have paid at Walmart. Chase was great and very friendly. Will definitely go here again for any car issues. read more

My girlfriend and I were supposed to go to new Orleans for our one year anniversary today and her car broke down. Pep boys hustled to get her car towed, and then went above and beyond to fix her car. One of the employees literally drove two hours to pick up a part on a Saturday to help us . and then they had our car back on the road in a few hours. Cannot recommend the service nor the competence of this place enough. If I could I give more stars I would. read more

Hands down the best tire service store in Destin. I went in a few months a go to get a flat repaired and the service was awesome so I went back when I had a valve stem break. It was 6:30pm and they were packed and closed at 7:00pm. The guy behind the counter said "don't worry about it we'll get it done before we close" and literally it took them 17 minutes from start to finish to change a valve stem on a F250. i came in today to get my breaks checked because it sounded like the rotors were warping. the breaks would like grind and squeal and i have to drive back home 5 hours away, so i called pep boys and they had immediate availability. i took my car there and found out that they were warping and the breaks were getting eaten away at. i was in and out in about 45 minutes. the mechanic and lady at the from were so helpful and really nice. definitely go to them to get work done. 10/10 read more

Crooks! We have a 2 year old car with 30K miles, always garaged from the day we bought it from the dealer show room. Never had an issue. Then, we take it to PepBoys for an oil change. A day or two later it's been towed to a Dealer for repairs. Why you ask? Same day after oil change service. Tire indicator shows rear tire very low on air. We went right back to Pepboys. Theyt put in air, has been good since. Next day after oil change. check engine indicator Next day. Coolant leak under under the wheel well. Car is towed to the dealer. The check engine light was on because of a loose fuel fitting. And, they are repairing the Coolant leak. We spoke to friends who had similar experience. Odd things started to happen to their newer car after visiting Pepboys. STAY AWAY! You have been FORE WARNED! read more

My wife went to Pep Boys the other day to Have the tires rotated. They told her she needed 2 new tires, we just bought one n the mean time. She noticed the car was pulling to the right. She checked all 4 tires none of the 4 tires had no were near the correct tire pressure. All of them different, you would have thought someone would do their job and checked all 4 tires before she left. read more

Needed new tires and called several places and Pep Boys manager, Matt was number one choice. He was knowledgeable, professional and quick to assure me they could help me with the tires I needed. No one else could get them for four to five days. Matt got them in one. I am extremely pleased since I had never used Pep Boys before. The mechanic was also kind and explained everything to me when he was done. Highly recommend and price was better then several other places around town. read more

Not happy at all!! They did a full tune up and a oil change and got my car running fairly quickly and charged me $800.00. I live in South Carolina and 2 days later on my way home, I broke down in Valdosta, GA. Come to find out, they didn't tighten the bolts properly on the thermostat housing so the water and coolant leaked out and caused my car to overheat. They also pinched the lower radiator house, so that also had to be replaced. I also needed a new air filter, which would be something that should have been replaced during a tune up or oil change. When I called Pep Boys, I talked to Matt, the store manager, and he wanted a estimate from the place in Valdosta. When we did that, he wanted to argue over the prices. I eventually told him that I needed to get home to my family and to not worry about it. I ended paying an additional $200.00 I am extremely dissatisfied with the service service. I would think long and hard before using Pep Boys to repair my vehicle. read more

These guys were great!!! I had my oil changed in and out within the time they said!! I then had them put new tires on my daughters car and was extremely happy with their wonderful performance and inspection and personal service they gave us!!! Place is a joke, my son went in to have an oil change they charged him for an extra quart of oil that it's impossible for his car to take. Asked him where the oil filter was located and tried to replace his air box when nothing was wrong with it. read more

Wow. This store is terrible. I have been there 3 times in the last six months and every time I have had an awful experience. Today it took 2.5 hours to get an oil change and tire rotation and I show up and the car has not been touched? There were 4 open bays and three guys sitting in the shop doing nothing. This place is horrible. A bunch of crooks work here. I took my car in when my check engine light came on. They charged me $52 to change a fuse in order to get the code reader to work. Then proceeded to give me a quote of $1000 to fix my car. They wouldn't tell me the code for my engine light, explained things very poorly and didn't offer me any other options. The manager also made the issue seem very serious and almost insisted I leave my car there over night to get fixed. Luckily I didn't have the money so I went to Auto Zone in Niceville the following day to figure out what the code was. After googling it I found out that all I needed to do was buy an $8 bottle of cleaner to clean my MAF sensor!!!! Which took 5 minutes! Something they never even suggested! I could work here and google everything and give better service than these fools! I would NEVER go here. They are a complete rip off! read more

Arrived for a 1 o'clock appt. for an oil change but was told it would be at least 45 mins.....which meant at least an hour. Ask the guy what good are appointments if you have to wait an hour past your appt. time. He just srugged his shoulders and did not even apologize. Pep Boys just lost my buisness. This place is an outright joke. My wife took my truck in due to a tire spitting. These intelligent guys replaced the good tire and left the spit tire on. After 15 days of calling them and them saying they will get the tire back from the used tire guy they either sold it or gave it too, they finally replaced it. Now it makes a loud noise while driving. Taking it to walmart to get it fixed. Walk in, listen to nearly every phone call start out with "Sorry About That" Normally I would not complain like this, however where safety is an issue, they need to get their act together. read more

I am very disappointed! I don't normally like to post negative comments however I'm angry! My husband took my '08 Acura MDX in for a ringing sound and they told us we needed new struts. They quoted us $6,500. We wanted a second opinion. Against my desires, my husband took it in to the Acura Dealership and they told us our struts were in excellent condition. The repair for the original complaint and additional work from them cost us only $116.00. VERY disappointed and offended someone would try to take advantage of us!!! This store lacks management. We ordered a tire and were told that it would come in tues or wed at the latest...Today is Thursday, no one called us, I just hung up with my third phonecall today trying to find out if our tire has made it in yet, still not there. I spoke to Chad this time and he at least gave me more detailed info so that I could understand why they cant specifically locate the tire, but...still no tire on my car. hopefully they will call me when it finally comes in... read more

This place is very dirty even for a tire store stuff Everywhere outside and Parking is a NIGHTMARE - I tied to get a simple Oil change and was told that NO way it could be done although the store was open for an additional 5 hours and there were many guys just standing around - I live near the store and even offered to leave it until the very last minute and the person would not even listen just kept saying NO way not today - - This was much better when it was locally owned and MUCH MUCH CLEANER - - YOU will not get any more of my business read more

Took my car for repair. This pep boys in destin never call me to tell me what was going on with my car . I called the finally gave me a price for repair .they told me if I got the car fixed they wouldn't charge me the diagnostic fee of103.00 .they gAve me the price for repair and told me now I have to pay them the diagnostic fee. Avoid this place at all cost. Went in to get new tires, they took our car out on the road (which I didn't know was going to happen) and said it wouldn't go over 30 mph and it white smoked. We bought the car new 3 years ago and have never had a single problem. I spoke to a manager and called the corporate office but never received a follow up call. Also another customer came in while we were waiting, they had told him on the phone they could do the work on his car but when he arrived they informed him they couldn't. NEVER GO TO PEP BOYS!!!! I hope everyone reads my post so I can stop you from going through what they have put me through. It all started when I brought my truck ( 2012 dodge ram 1500) into the Panama city store on the north side of 23rd when I had an exhaust manifold leak... we came up with a solution that was less expensive then the dealership so I went with it (big mistake) I paid for the parts up front but did not agree to pay for labor until it was finished ( 900 up front and 900 when it was done) they ordered the parts and told me it would be 5-7 business days... 10 business days go by and I havnt heard from them so I call to check in, no one knew what I was talking about and I was told the manager would get back to me... he never did.. I called again a few days later and spoke to the guy I ordered the parts with he said it would be a few more days... I waited a week still no call. The same thing happens, I call and explain my situation, give my name and explain the situation and the guy has no idea what im talking about... this goes on for around 2 months. Finally I call in again and they have the parts but havnt called me yet... so I get the truck in there and get it done... no apology on it taking longer to get the parts than expected, no discount, nothing... It's fine I'm just glad it's done... the next week I move to the next town over and I need an oil change so I take it to pep boys and they discover a pretty big oil leak and that most of the bolts on th repair they did at pep boys Panama city were not tightened... they refuse to fix it at the Destin store and reffered me back to the Panama city store (1 hour drive)... I was worried so I called corporate to make a complaint, I explained my situation and was given a case number and was told some one would contact me within 48 hours. No one ever called me. I also contacted the Panama city store and they had to order the part and I was told it would be in store by that Thursday (it was Tuesday when I was quoted that) I asked if that was 100% certain because I had plans to go see my mom in Atlanta from Thursday to Sunday and I was reassured that it would be there.... shocker alert.... the part didn't show up... fortunately it showed up the next day and was told it was a 10 minute fix... I sat in the store while they worked on it for over 3 hours. Finally it gets done and I'm off to Atlanta, I was told there were a few lights on the dash and not to worry they would go off. Most of them did, except the air bag indicater, I also noticed the I could no longer control the radio from my steering wheel. I called the Panama city store and was told that nothing they did would have led to that happening. I didnt trust them so I took it into the Destin store and they told me they could see the clock spring had been damaged some how when they worked on it last. The Destin store said they would repair it and Bill the Panama city store for it. So they order the clock spring and say it will be a few days... here we go again!!! A week goes by and I call to check in and I'm told that it showed up a few days ago, I asked why no one called me and he gets defensive and then says it had just showed up last night... so I ask when I can arrange to bring it in and he says no appointment needed just bring it by and give them a few hours to install it... a few days later I arrange a friend to follow me so I can drop it off. I bring it in and the guy tells me they don't have the part...?! He said that they do have it at the panama city store and that he would jave it at the destin store by friday...so again I arrange a friend to follow me over there and drop it off first thing this morning (around 7am) and I call around noon and they have not even looked at my truck yet I call again just before I have to go to work and I was told they were working on it now and would call me when it was done... I told them I was going to work and wouldn't be off until after the store had closed so I had asked them to leave my keys in my gas cap and they said no problem... so I get off work, call a taxi for a ride over there that cost me 50$ and my truck is no where to be found!!! So I have to take a taxi home now (40$) no one called while I was at work to let me know what's going on or if they finished or that my truck wouldn't be there??!! I have through out this whole process never raised my voice at any one nor have I been disrespectful. But this is not right! It's been one thing after another and I'm really disappointed no one from corporate called me back when I filed a complaint... I've never done anything liked this before but I didn't know what else to do.... hopefully I can save you headache by talking you out of going to pep boys!!! read more

We were vacationing here in Destin before moving on to our next destination in the mountains in North Carolina when our battery died. We walked in prepared to spend $200 to ensure the rest of our trip went smooth and told the guy at the desk as much. However, these guys went ahead and tested our battery and told us it was just a little low and should be fine after a charge. I have been several other places where they would be more than happy to take our money regardless of whether we needed it or not! Pep Boys will have our business next time we need it. read more

After many years of going to this store for auto repairs I am done. Every time I go for an oil change and tire rotation there is always something else that needs to be done. My last visit a couple of weeks ago cost over $1000. I agreed to the additional work but was never told I'd be there 6 hours. I had some new tires that were supposedly balanced, although steering wheel shakes now at high speeds. I called twice and was told to bring the car in they'll take care of it right away. I called Wednesday and told them I'd be there today at 8:00 a.m. I got there and was told I probably couldn't get in until about 9:00 and we all know you can't get out of there in less than an hour, usually longer. The person at the desk couldn't care less that I had called ahead of time, very indifferent. I have to deal with the public in my job and I was very offended that this guy didn't care about inconveniencing anyone else. I've been going here as long as the place has been open but will never go again nor will I recommend this place to anyone local or otherwise. This isn't the first time I've had this kind of experience but it is the last. read more

Brought my truck in for brake job and new front tires, brand new brake pads and rotors. Brakes squeel after 3rd day they did not balance the tires so truck wobbled so hard at 45 mph had to come to almost complete stop to make it quit wobbling also they were supposed to change oil but forgot. they told me to come back the next day and I did they said there were others in front of me please leave vehicle. This is basic stuff they are messing up look at the other reviews I wish I would have, you have been warned by many about this place. read more

D-Bag Enterprise. Went in because I thought I had a bad battery. Asked to check it. Didn't ask for service. Just asked to check it. Was told he could get to it in an hour and a half. I said seriously, don't you have a handheld checker? Yep. They do. And they could do that in an hour in a half. Didn't even look up from his phone. Probably too busy on FaceBook or Crushin those candies to help me. Went elsewhere. I suggest you do as well. read more

These guys are great! Everyone was extremely friendly and very competent. I had had a flat, had the donut spare on my car and was leaving this morning for an 800 mile drive home. They got me fixed up in short order. The AAA guy that changed my spare said they were the "Go-to" guys in the area, and he was right! First time at this store. Made appointment to have oil changed. Arrived early, was told 20-30 minutes wait. Went across to shopping center and returned in 40 minutes to find car had not moved. Work bays are disorganized and filthy for a garage. Parking lot strewn with tire stems, screws, and other trash. Guess it creates return business. Price quoted for oil change was higher than business where I was able to get oil change in short order. read more

We had our Toyota RAV towed to this location in hopes they could fix our car. We had just moved from VA because my husband serves in the Army and we relocated to Destin for him to continue EOD school. We only have one vehicle because we sold his truck while in VA. As if the move wasn't stressful enough, Pep Boys had our car for over a week and kept ordering the wrong parts. Then when they finally gave us the car back ($800 bill) my husband drove to work and it died on the way there with the same issue. After calling the corporate office, they promised a complete refund as well as towing to the Toyota dealership. Toyota did fix our car in 2 days, but the manager at THIS location refuses to return our phone calls and when we visited them to return the worthless alternater they installed and get the refund due to us, they were rude and acted as though this was our fault and complained about all the labor they put into this job. We are still waiting on this refund promised and it has really hurt us financially. If your car needs work, don't take it to Pep Boys! read more
