This was honestly the best experience I've had with an auto service business. I called in on a Saturday (8/17/24) mid morning because I was in the area and I had been needing an oil change on my car for a while but hadn't had time to schedule an appointment somewhere. The gentleman (I believe his name is Robert) who answered was extremely kind and accommodating. He mentioned that normally they go by appointment basis, however if I am close by, I can swing by there and he will try to fit me in. I showed up within 10 minutes of speaking to him, and he was able to fit me in between existing appointments and I was out of there in less than an hour with my car in great shape. That was completely unexpected as normally when I've made appointments places I've still had to wait hours for my car to be completed! Ontop of that, I'm always fearful going to auto businesses being a female as I have been taken advantage of in the past and slapped with a crazy bill, but when I was ready to check out it was extremely reasonable and I was even able to get a slight discount from an existing coupon for that service at the time. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the Houston area and I'm super thankful for Robert in making it such a smooth process and great experience! read more

Made an appointment 3 hours before closing she says my car might not be done by closing and said I don't care I'm leaving at 5 anyways. She then told me she would cancel all 4 appointments for the day after mine since she didn't want to stay late and was venting to me about her manager for some reason. Then at the end of the interview store setup the price was wrong based on the quote on the website and it turned out she didn't bill me for what I scheduled for online. She says they don't even read what we put there and didn't find it necessary to ask what package I wanted specifically. Then she seemed annoyed that she'd have to start the paperwork over so I just left. Probably wasn't getting my car back that day anyways from the sound of it. read more

If I could give it ZERO stars I would. Today I made an appointment for 9:00am. I arrived at 8:45 am the lady at the counter was nice ( had on a s shirt with the name Regina on it but I over heard that wasn't her name she had on someone else's uniform cause they hadn't ordered hers yet) she checked me in and everything. Me and my wife sat in the waiting area patiently for 2 hours . At 10:47am I was called to the front and I was told by a technician that my car takes R1234yf and they don't have the machine to check it and he would have known it earlier but there was a car in front of me so he didn't know til then. Then proceeded to tell me I can go to another one of there chains to get it done and when she called they said an HOUR WAIT. So I delclined going to another one to WAIST MY TIME. My complaint is that if you are the technician and have been for a while you should know that a car takes a certain thing and act accordingly so you don't waste peoples precious time. That is your CERTIFIED LICENSE JOB how you don't know????????? So when I politely explained to the lady at the counter my concerns (without attitude and cursing) with the process that had me sitting in there for 2 hours with nothing been done to my car she got an attitude with me and making little comments about how she not dealing with me today , like I was in the wrong. Instead of saying sorry I understood your frustration and letting it be. In the future please work on customer service because if yall REALLY knew what you was doing ALL of this could have been avoided and you wouldn't have lost a customer. read more

Unfortunately for me zero stars is not an option because that is truly what this location deserves. I brought my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee on 11/20 (mileage 14,900) for my second oil change since I bought the car brand new 1 year ago. After I left my 1 hour appointment at 2pm I began to drive home. About 7 minutes into my drive home I began notice smoke coming from hood and lights on my dashboard began to appear. I immediately pulled over to notice oil leaking from my car. Pep Boys did forgot to put the oil gasket back on after completing me oil change. I had to wait over 90 minutes for a tow truck to come and pick up my car. In that 90 minutes my dad called this Pep Boys location to have more action taken while I wait alone in Houston for a tow truck. Pep Boys sent an employee to my location in their service vehicle to confirm what I already knew-- my Jeep was leaking oil. The employee told me Jeep was down 4 quarts of oil. When the tow truck finally arrived, he loaded my car and brought it back to Pep Boys. The tow truck had a passenger so the employee offered for me to ride with him back to the Pep Boy location. On our short drive back to the shop, this employee was driving on a side rode and got very close to parked cars on the street and his side mirror hit another side mirror. PERFECT ending to my day. As I arrived at the store, visibly upset-- as any normal human would be, an employee at the front desk, Brady, told me "it's not a big deal and it's all fine." Now I'm no car mechanic, but I do know leaking out over half your oil in your car is a big deal and can be very problematic. So I then asked since it was no big deal if he thought I should of just kept driving when I noticed my hood smoking and oil leaking from my car. His answer was "well, no." ‍ I've reached out via email and twitter to corporate to address my concern about the quality of service I received and the lack of professionalism that occurred yesterday-- I have yet to receive anything back. As you can see, a very simple routine maintenance for my car- went terribly, terribly wrong. DO NOT pay for any services before you receive them. I made the mistake of allowing the manager Robert G to place an order for me for 4 new tires. The tires were supposed to be in the following week. I was in a auto accident that week and found out my SUV would possibly be totaled. I contacted Robert as soon as I found out and he assured me everything would be okay and he would hold the tires until I found out. The SUV was indeed totaled. It was confirmed two weeks after I spoke to him. This was mid September 2024. Robert has given me the run arounds. Lied about providing me the contact information of his regional manager. Even pretended to call the regional manager (he stepped away when on the phone so I suspected he did not actually call him). It is not January of 2025 and have not be refunded- nor have I received the product or labor I was charged for. I've file a complaint with the BBB and contacted an attorney. I was charged $885.25 for 4 tires and alignment, balance, and labor. No work or product was ever received. I am now disputing via my bank. Do not engage in business with this man. He is very charming and appears to be genuine- do not be fooled. Customer service is a joke and complaints just get routed back to him and no one has ever contacted me to try to assist with this issue. WOMAN BEWARE OF SERVICES BEING OFFERED FOR YOUR VEHICLE THAT IS NOT NEEDED. I called and filed a complaint against this place. I went in to purchase a battery and to have it installed because I did not have my tools available to do it myself. The mechanic, Nicholas, informed me that "I had no oil." I requested to see the dipstick, and lo and behold, I had oil. I was not due for another oil change for 2,000 miles. After they installed my battery, I took my car to Jiffy Lube on Shepard in River Oaks for a second opinion, because that is where I get my fluid maintenance for my vehicle done there regularly. I told them the situation and they immeadiately checked my oil in front of me. They said it was fine, then made a joke about me cheating on them. DO NOT GO TO THIS PEP BOYS. read more

One day I found myself with a leaking tire that I know I had filled up just the day prior. Came out of my lunch meeting and my tire was again low on air and I could even hear it hissing at times. Unfortunately I had another meeting in 2 hours that I needed to be at so I scrambled on my phone to find the nearest tire shop to get it looked at. When I got there they said they were on a 3 hour wait which was obviously too long if I wanted to catch my meeting so I once again scrambled to find another tire shop. That's when I came across Pep Boys on Greenbriar and promptly proceeded to head that way. When I arrived I explained the situation and what was going on with my tire and the Assistant Manager - Brady Keys assured me that they could not only fix the problem but get me on my way so I could make my meeting. To make it even better they were able to get my oil changed and still have me done by the time I had to leave. Brady definitely saved the day for me that day and I can't thank him enough. I even tried to tip him for the quick service and he refused simply asking that I consider their shop the next time I need my car looked at. Made an appointment for an oil change. I arrived and they did not have all equipment needed to complete oil change. They told me to come back at later time as they assured me the parts would be in. I came back and still not all parts were there. I had to wait an additional 1.5-2 hours for the part to come in. So why my appointment was confirmed is beyond me. No verbalization of a discount was given. Although the work was performed, I will not return due to lack of awareness and preparation from staff. read more

Summary: I do not recommend at all. I have so many issues with this place. I've been bringing in my 2008 Jeep here for the past 3 years or so and by now have sank over $3,000 into just the air conditioning alone. I have limited knowledge on major car repairs but this is how they explained it to me- 2 years ago they (pepboys) replaced the ac compressor $$$ but they didn't know the evaporator core also needed to be replaced. That eventually went out so we got that replaced $$$ but in the process of breaking, it somehow drained/killed the compressor. So now 2 months after replacing the evaporator, the compressor that was replaced less than 2 years ago went out again. They've brilliantly created a cycle of bad but also expensive repairs. This time they said they can fix it for only about $400 which is conveniently about half of what it actually costs. I won't say they're shady or doing a bad job because I don't know. But I've spend thousands of dollars on repairs here and all I have to show for it is an air conditioner that does not work. I've also run into issues with their "warranties" so beware. The last thing worth mentioning is their customer service is terrible. Each employee we meet is more rude than the one before. I hope this review saves someone time and especially money. read more

Been a client of Pep Boys for 3 years now in California and I like their service, their prices, and quality of their parts. Recently moved to Houston and all warranties carried over within the US. Needed to rotate 2 new tires purchased 4 months ago. Setup my profile online, and made an appointment at Greenbrier location. Was running late, called and pushed out appointment another 2 hours. They had no problem with that. When I arrived, sat and watched TV in waiting room and they were done within 45 minutes. Tire rotation was free of charge, Branch manager was polite & very professional. Staff were upbeat & friendly, I'll be back for sure! read more

I went in for some air condition work that was done on it about 11 months ago. Therefore it was still under warranty cuz I bought a little extended policy for the work they did that day it was a little over 1200 dollars for the AC service. The AC work for about 3 to 4 months and didn't go back because of weather. Was changing to cool so I decided not to bring it back at the time. I brought it back to pep boys yesterday. 5. 18 1923. They check the AC 100 bucks at least and said that it would cost me a little bit over 2700 and that was minus from the work that they said was under warranty that would be over 3900 dollars in less than a year.PEP BOYS was trying to rob me they ought to be ashamed !!!! This location is great! I have been coming here for years for routine maintenance and emergencies. Don (manager) is very professional and lets me know exactly what needs to be done. The employees all do good work. For example, I came in with a broken side mirror and a replacement part I bought online. Nick changed it for free and was super quick. I went in for an oil change after having the worst day. I was in a terrible mood after being stuck in the flood and getting caught in the rain again the next day. The guys at Pep Boys really made my day. They changed my oil and my headlights that had gone out from the flood. On top of all the good costumer service Don entertained my daughter the whole time as her little five year old self was bursting with energy, and I was so depleted. No stars! I went in because my air conditioning was not blowing cold. I asked for freon to be added. The guy at the register said I would be wasting money if they added freon and I have a leak so he suggested I get the $149 A/C service which would determine if I had a leak. I agreed. About an hour later, the mechanic comes out and tells me its not a leak, it's my compressor. The cost to replace was $1800. He warned that driving with a bad compressor could further damage the engine. I declined the repair since I'd read online that if air was blowing, it was probably a minor fix like adding freon. I asked if they had added freon, paid $149 and left. Air was still blowing warm. A few days later I took it to another mechanic who suggested an A/C service again. I said I had just had one at Pep Boys, air was still not blowing cold, and he said he'd take a look. He discovered that freon had not been added and that I had a bad hose, which would cost about $40 to replace. He confirmed that air would not be blowing at all if my compressor was shot. Ladies beware! I defiantly think this was a case of trying to overcharge an unsuspecting (ha!) female. read more

That ended up being more like 2 hours maybe even longer...They need a proper system for scheduling instead of making up estimate times...also this day they had over booked...I'm from out of town and it was just such an inconvenience with waiting so long. read more

I came in for an oil change. They didn't have my filter and asked if it was ok for me to wait 30 more minutes as they needed to obtain it. I said this was fine and was thankful. Then I go to pay and they wanted $30 more due to the fact that they had to retrieve the filter. I had to talk them down on the price and they finally relented. Looking for you to address your employees and get the issue resolved, not contact me There is a definite issue with Brandon who indicated he is the manager and also as stated by name by another reviewer here Obviously no one addressed the problem after David's review here. He was again on the phone for at least 15 minutes with 2 other gentlemen behind the counter who indicated I needed to wait for him and would not assist me. This is after I told the other employees I had an appointment at 2pm.Why is no one else trained to address/check in customers?? I stood and waited at least 20 minutes for him to get off the phone first then to have another employee put in my work order. Obviously he did not look up my appointment as I just received an email saying my appointment was cancelled I told him repeatedly I had made an appointment. It took over an hour and half for them to tell me that I had just inserted my rear tail light bulb incorrectly and for a quote??? Again, Brandon was on the phone for another 15 minutes after your automotive technician told me that he inserted it correctly. I waited another 40 minutes for a quote for a turn signal multi-function changer and he had the nerve to attempt to charge me for an electrical system check. All the technician did was reinsert my bulb correctly. Arrival 155pm , out 335pm WITH appointment for tail light bulb check. Wasted an hour and half of my life. Ridiculous. read more

I took my car in to fix my brakes. I had to call twice to get them to actually diagnose it. They told me that I needed to replace all the parts for my back brakes. Drums, pads, springs, cylinders, everything. Due to the fact that a spring broke. In talking with the tech further I discovered that he hadn't even opened the brake assembly to asses the damage. I said so when you told me all the parts were ruined including the ones on the passenger side which didn't have any issue. You really hadn't looked at any of the parts and really I might just be able to replace the spring. They ultimately said that they won't do the work unless they can sell me a total brake rebuild costing hundreds of dollars. I took my car to another shop and got the springs replaced for $74. I will never go to Pep Boys again. read more

The guys here at Pepboys are A1! Start of by saying honesty is all there is. Took my car to get looked at by another mechanic off Kirby. They initially quoted me 1,300$ for a new CV axel and sway bar links for both sides of the vehicle with a alignment. I was only having a issue with the driver side. Took it to pepboys and all it was a couple of loose bolts on the plate above my strut.. 27$ later issued solved. Definitely will continue to use these guys in the future. read more
