This location is absolutely AWFUL. Go to the location on Montauk Highway where you will be treated respectfully and professionally. No one ever picks up the phone, and if/when they do, they are abrupt, rude and just transfer you over to another department who don't even pick up the call! I called to confirm delivery of tires and was told they weren't there after 10 seconds of checking. Meanwhile I received an email confirmation with a time stamp and name of the person who received them. Had to call back 3 more times to actually talk to a human being who checked. Ken B. went above and beyond for me! My headlight was out, my service engine light was on, and I needed an inspection. To keep it short and simple you need more people like Ken B. He fixed all my issues and he gave me so much information to help myself in the future with my car. He was honest and trustworthy and I really appreciated it. Not many people are like that today. This place is completely mismanaged and has zero respect for it's customers' time. Online scheduling? Not so much. I made three separate appointments for a wheel alignment and they flaked on each and every one. Why bother having online appointments and why bother having an option for "I will wait for my car", if you can't live up to it? All three times I went they did not honor their appointment. The first two they just dismissed me, saying "no, we wont get to you today". The third time I showed they told me "leave your car and maybe we can get to it before we close". That was 2 PM!!! After the last missed appointment they said come back when we open at 9 AM tomorrow morning and we will get you right in. I showed up at 9 when the store opened. When I left out of disgust at 9:20 there was still NO ONE working the service counter to check people in and assign work to their techs. They literally had techs walking around aimlessly and sitting there on their phones because there was no one at the counter to check cars in. Service Manager was no where to be found, and the "Parts Store Manager" who was there was apologetic but told me there was nothing he could do because service and parts were not the same "store". And wouldn't give district manager info for me to contact. I wrote to them through their "contact us" email address on their website - zero response from corporate or the district manager or the store manager. Danger! Do not go here! They tell you you need work done and bill you for it and don't put in the parts. They also don't do the correct work or what you ask them to do. I have told them I wanted specific items replaced only to get the car returned to me saying oh we didn't replace that we replaced this. They get a bad attitude with you when you aren't satisfied with their service. They give you an ultimatum and then refuse to honor their warranty. The manager Syed Abbas told me to go and "SUE" Pep Boys! Tony, the service desk attendant was dismissive and arrogant. I went to have my car inspected and took it to a different Pep Boys location and the mechanic failed my car because of a right lower control arm that was supposed to be replaced in the Lindenhurst location TWICE! He said it was the original part that it never was replaced! I had to show him the receipt to prove I paid to have the work done. He said I got screwed! Their own mechanic from a different store location confirmed this to me as I was already suspicious as this to be the case! Appointments are useless. I had to go back many many times. It was a guessing game with them. They had no idea what to replace. I felt trapped because of the warranties otherwise I would not have gone back. I will never ever EVER go to pep boys ever again. NEVER! I read the other negative reviews and had exactly the same negative experience as they did. Read them! Stay far away from Pep Boys! The area manager never returned any of my calls either. Last night my brakes starred grinding and it was too late to go anywhere else so I took it here an hour before they closed and they could not have been more accommodating. They took my car in with no questions asked, inspected it, and found a few more things that NEEDED to get done and got it all done perfectly THAT NIGHT. I couldn't have been happier. Wow all these negative reviews are right on the money. So I arrive last night to get a wheel bearing changed and 4 new wheels to be changed the next day. I agree on the tires. I call at 2pm the next day wondering why I wasn't called. After 30 minutes of the phone ringing someone finally picked up. Apparently they didn't even start doing anything. They tell me they will call back later. At 4:40 I finally get a call and they tell me they don't have the tires they agreed to put on. When I tried to change the tires to something else they suggested then they tell me they only have 3 tires. Lol They refuse to do any work. They wanted me to wait 2 days to get another tire. Like I don't have a job or something. I had to pick it up. Hopefully Firestone can actually do some work. I have never seen a place more poorly run than this pepboys. They need to fire everybody and get a whole new staff. This is the second time I've been disappointed by them. I tried to get an AC fixed from them before and they told me the AC guy didn't come in yet. They called me that the guy came in I raced over. I got the oil changed in my 2004 Chevy Colorado. I asked for the tech to reset the check engine light. He did not. But one would expect the Change Oil indicator to be reset after an oil change. I'm searching for a new non-dealer repair place to get my car serviced. Because of some of the ratings on this place I decided to give it a try. I dropped off my car for inspection, oil change service and the check engine light was on. $89.99 to run a diagnostic on why the check engine light was on. They checked the error and recommended to replace the intake runner solenoid a $162 part. Cost of labor is $368. Pretty steep price but to pass the inspection I approved the order. It was a Wednesday and my wife was told by an employee named James that the part would be in by Friday afternoon and that we could drop off my car for the repairs any time on Saturday. They charged my wife in full for the part and repairs that Wednesday the day we ordered. I arrived to drop off the car on Saturday receipt and document in hand. I handed them the receipt and said I was there to drop the car off. They looked at the receipt and me as if they had no clue what I was talking about. The man I spoke to (not James) quickly glanced at boxes on the floor around and behind the service counter and told me that the part wasn't in. He didn't look in the computer, made no visible effort to really confirm whether the part was in. He said "maybe I should take your number and we'll call you when the part is in." a bit flustered I said "yeah maybe that is a good idea." and I gave him my number and left. I should note that I had already given them my number when I schedule the initial service. My wife, pretty furious about that fact that the service, which we paid for in full up-front, wasn't happening as promised and called Pep Boys asking to talk to James. James was in and couldn't recall whether or not the part was ever ordered. We were told that they would call when the part is in. He wasn't sure the part was even ordered?!!! In summary this is a pretty bad first experience with this place. When promised that a part is ordered and will be in and told to bring ones car in on a certain day, the company should stick with the commitment or call the client to advise otherwise. Additionally when a mistake is made as it was in this instance at the very least an apology and assurances are in order. In this instance all employees involved acted as if this is standard procedure and it was okay to have a client take the time to show up for scheduled service and be denied. UPDATE: a few hours after I wrote this review Pep Boys called me to let me know the part was in. I brought it in the next day (Sunday) for repairs. I got the car back roughly two hours later, drive it for 40 to 50 miles to let the sensors reset and the check engine light is back on. Bringing it back into the shop today (Monday). This car needs to pass NYS inspection by tomorrow. Wish us luck. Admittedly, One major benefit of this place is their hours. They are seven days a week and have extended hours. read more

Made an appt for a 9am oil change. I got there early before the doors opened. Once 9am on the dot came, the door was unlocked and I was the first one taken. I told the desk clerk I'd be waiting waiting for my car. A 30 minute oil change turned into an hour and a half. Ppl that came after and were dropping their cars off, gave the info to the desk clerk, left & returned BEFORE I was taken.Throughout this entire time waiting you hear the phone ringing over the pa system non-stop. Absolutely no one answers the phone. If you don't accept weekend phone calls, the lines should go directly to an answerng machine. When they check you out, you do not get your service ticket. After being handed your key, you're told to go pay the bill. You would think the clerk at the register would hand you your service ticket or be able to print it. Not so here. You're told the ticket is in your car, which it wasn't. After asking a few more ppl about my service ticket, one gentlemen went to the service desk and got it for me. The man that gave me my key had it all the while. Why couldn't he give me the service ticket along with the key?? Makes NO sense. I've been going here for about 4 to 5 years. The service desk slowly declined. Today it took a nose dive! FYI.. if you make a later appointment you wind up waiting 2 hours. DONT BOTHER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT! I recently had a terrible experience at Lindenhurst Pep Boys. I had previously brought my car to Sunrise Tire and Auto and got a battery an oil change and temp inspection. Scott told me I needed brakes, which I did. He had quoted me a price that seemed high and I decided to call for some comparisons. Most places I called quoted a higher price except for Pep Boys that quoted a great price. $310 for service and brakes (all 4) with a pep boys rewards $60 coupon. I asked how much with rotors and was informed I needed to speak to parts. The parts dept rep asked my car make and model then quoted $50 for each front rotor and 40 for each rear. I called back again right away to confirm the price and it was confirmed. Still not convinced and afraid of the bait and switch I had my friend Ronnie call. He confirmed the price was the same and I went to Pep Boys. The staff was discourteous and I was told when I got there that I must have spoken to little Tony and he was big Tony. Long and the short of it once my car was on the lift and brakes were done I ended up paying 100 more than quoted on phone. This place is run terribly and they say one thing on the phone and then it is a completely different story when you get there. Please don't use this shop. I can't speak about all Pep Boys but this location is not well run. I am going to seek advice on how to get my overpayment back and actually pay what Ronnie and I were quoted originally. This is the second time I've gone to this location and it's the second time the customer service people did not do there job. They never never call you, they hold onto your car for HOURS before they even put it in the bay to see what the problem is. I had very clear issues with my car both time. I'd bring my car in at 7:30 am and by the time they complete the job it's at least 8 hours later at the very minimum. They never keep you in the loop, I have had to call numerous times and they either do not answer the service desk phone and when they do, they just keep telling you another X amount of hours. Not until I go there physically and grab the manage nothing happens. Then all of a sudden my car is brought into the bay. 2/2/19 it's now 5:30 pm and I'm still here. This is not fair. 01/29/15 (Pep Boys, Lindenhurst NY) I had made an appointment last night for an inspection this morning at 8pm. I arrived at 7:54am, was let in at 7:58am. Walked over to the car service counter and heard the man behind the counter say to himself ,"oh, he's coming over here..." I ignored it and told him of my scheduled inspection to which he replied "I'm not ready, need time to set up". I graciously backed away from the counter and then he called me back over a few minutes later. Then he told me he wasn't sure how long it would take as no mechanics were there yet. Which seemed confusing as they open at 8am. I obviously needed to be here this early to get my car inspected and move on with my busy day. I needed an oil change/car inspection so in spite of what the reviews said I decided to go to pep boys/Lindenhurst,ny..The oil change went ok...But going to pep boys for an auto inspection ...was a mistake ...One of the employees told me I needed new tires which I told him were under warrantee from good year/acquatread one of their best ..Furthermore he told me I needed a serpentine belt which wasn't broken but still running ...About a 1/2 hour later another employee the fellow who was working on the car told me the brake pads needed to be fixed which I had no problem with although their prices are much higher then many local shops ...Next I got a list of 5 other items that didn't need to be fixed but I guess they were slow so they decided to pile on with the repair work!I will never go back to this store!I hope the public will check the reviews before going to this shop! read more

I had my car towed to Pep Boys Lindenhurst at 9:30 Saturday morning because my normal mechanic was swamped with work. I was told it would be looked at and diagnosed early afternoon. I called back at 2:30 pm and they said I was the next car up. I arrived back at 3:30 pm. My car sat in the same spot it was put in at 6:00 pm. I asked what is going on with my car and the next guy told me that he'll look at it but I won't have it back until the following morning. He also said that he was not told that my car was there until 5:00 pm. Fine. 11:30 am the next morning I was called and told that I need a new battery at the price of $177 in order to diagnose the issue which is comical at best. I told them to charge the battery and find out what wrong with my car. I knew I didn't need a new battery because I had it checked by my mechanic a month earlier. I needed my car back so I said ok change the battery. I arrived there at 1:00 pm and nothing done to the car. A half hour later they tell me that they don't have the battery that I need in stock and they can't get one from another location. 28 hrs and nothing done. I called a tow truck to have it brought to my normal mechanic. A complete waste of time and extremely incompetent employees and service. If I could give them 0 stars I would. My normal mechanic opens up at 8:00 am Monday morning so I called his shop at that time and explained to him the issue that I was having. Two hours and 25 mins later the problem is diagnosed and my car was in the process of being fixed. My mechanic never mentioned to me that I needed a new battery so basically Pep Boys was trying sell me a battery that I didn't need. They are scam artists and will try to squeeze as much money out of your wallet as humanly possible! I do not recommend this place and I will never set foot in there again. Tony, the assistant service manager, greeted me with a smile, pulled my appointment up on the computer, took my keys and told me to have a seat in the waiting area. Kenny, the mechanic, had my car in the garage, and was working on it within minutes. I shopped around a little bit. The store was clean and organized. Everyone was very polite. I came in Sunday morning for the tire special that they had for the Black Friday weekend, before I arrived I checked the inventory and price, online. When I got to the service manager he gave me a totally different and Higher price, I told him they are having a sale for (4) Cooper tires, 50% off if you buy 4 and install the tire at Pep Bopys, he said he did not know about it even though the paper ad shows it, (clearly i could not have been the first person in with this special since it was running from Friday and this was sunday) I had to go into the website on my iphone to show him the price and show him that Lindenhurst was also included in the ad he said he cannot give me that price,which was on Pep boys website, he said you have to go online to get it and then come in. I never heard of this, I left that location, drove a few miles to there Bayshore location, walked in the service manager there never even asked me about any special, when I told him the product, (4 Cooper Tires) he went in to there system, and it was the exact price that they offer online. Seems that the service manager at Lindenhurst is trying to make some extra $$$, stay away from this location. I kept hearing rumbling noises from one of my front wheels. Soon after the ABS and Electronic Stability Control lights came on. I thought the lights being on were linked to the rumbling noises I heard in one of the front wheels. I took the car to Pep boys where they put in a new wheel sensor and wheel hub! The cost? Over $1190. Not only is the rumbling noise still audible, but now there is a 'new' noise. Took the car back to them thinking somehow they need to adjust the work they did. A few hours after dropping the car off I got a call telling me that the other 'new' noise is due to a bad DRIVE SHAFT and they don't do that work, so I will need to take it to the dealership. I trully believe that most of the folks who work in the service department have no formal technical training or experience! This was a royal waste of time and money. They are probably just good if you need tires or a simple oil change! Very incompetent for bigger and more technical tasks!!!! read more

I usually do not write reviews but if this helps someone else then it was worth writing. The following is based on my last three visits to the service department at pepboys of Lindenhurst. 1st- I went in for an inspection and was told that I would need new windshield wipers in order to pass. The service manager told me that installation was free and the wipers cost $34. I agreed knowing my only other option was to fail inspection, pay $37 for failing inspection then have to get reinspected. Afterward I found out that they sold me the most expensive wipers they had available in store even though there were 7 cheaper options available in store. They should have been more transparent and let me know my options. 2nd- I went in for an oil change and the service manager (different one from the 1st visit)told me that the tires needed to be replaced because of the tread depth. I told the service manager that I would get them replaced but I would like to see the tread depth of my tires first. The service manager said ok but she needed to do a couple of things first. 20 minutes later I followed up with the service manager and she told me that she checked the tires and that they needed to be replaced. I asked to see them and she said they were already taken off of the car/rims. Knowing they would of needed to be replaced soon, approximately a year in my estimation, I went along with it. 3rd- I brought my car with a battery that would not hold a charge and needed to be replaced. I told the service manager all the symptons (needed a jump each morning, stays running with no problem and will restart when turned off for a short time) obvious of a weak battery. After about 10 minutes the service manager returned and said the alternator needed to be replaced and it would cost $700. After looking for the part in the computer she told me they did not have the part and recommended I go to the dealership and added that the part may even be covered under warranty. So after they realize they could not take my $700 they mention it might be covered under warranty? Luckily I went to the dealership and it was the battery (as I thought) which cost me $119 installed. This leads me to believe that they are unethical by getting as much money out of you pocket as possible or have unskilled mechanics who don't know what they are doing. read more

If I could get away without a rating (zero stars) the Pep Boys Lindenhurst location wouldn't even get a star at all. Stopped going to this location or Pep Boys in general because of poor attitude and unethical business practices. My story started after I arrive for a scheduled appointment and waited 6 and a half hours for an inspection, brake job and oil change to be completed. Was the first to arrive at 7:55am and was told that car would be ready in 2 hours and that I will receive a phone call when finished. Well, hours later after several inquiries by phone call on my part, I had to go to the location to find my car still being worked on although I had been originally told that all work should be done in 2 hours. Finally over 6 hours later I leave to have my check engine light come on not even one mile from the location. I turned around and went back to be told that the light came on because the car needs an emissions inspection. (Remember I had just had my car inspected that day). After some back and forth with the mechanic and management they realized what service they had just provided which included an emissions inspection and threw their hands up. After many phone calls without success I took the car to the dealership where it had been purchased, for them to fix the problem. Thank God it was an easy fix. Fast forward to 4 months later I start to have problems with the new brakes which were installed on my first visit. The job was still under warranty at Pep Boys so I returned in good faith to the same location knowing I should not be charge for the work. With receipt in hand I show up to my appointment the work was found to be the same work that was previously done but yet they made me wait another 3 hours and tried to charge me $300.00 for work that was under warranty. It was a battle with management that day but I prevailed. My conclusion; never will I return or recommend Pep Boys or this location to anyone. Extremely unprofessional and poor business practices. I would've given one star (if I wasn't looking at this situation objectively). But two stars is an honest appraisal. Besides ultimately getting what I needed (through determination on my part)... I also got a Yelp account out of the deal (not a compliment to Pepboys). So I was trying to purchase some parts online or at least set up the order to pay in store. I attempted to put it through last night and had some problems with the website finalizing the order (side-note: the website seems quite buggy every time I use it). So I tried again this morning to no avail. I then called the store that I was trying to place the order with and I believe it was Joyce I spoke to (not sure of her position there). I explained the situation and that I was trying ot get the 30% discount offered on their website. She immediately rebutted me stating that it is a 25% off deal. I reassured her that it is not. She then told me to wait ten minutes and try my order again. I told her I tried last night and then again this morning. Which is more than ten minutes. I do not want to wait any longer and want to come down to the store to get my parts. She then told me to download the Retailmenot app and get the 20% off coupon printed off there. I reiterated that I want the 30% and asked will they honor it in store. She replied no and that I should call the customer service line. She then again told me that she is pretty sure it's supposed to be 25%. I let her know I am staring at my screen right now and it is not. I told her that they are a corporation and this is a deal offered by them. She gave me the number (1-800-Pepboys) and then told me to have a nice day. I was quiet... she said hello... I said nothing (at this point I'm appalled at the lack of customer service)... she hung up the phone. So I call the customer service number. I greet a fellow by the name of Mike. I explain the whole situation and he asks me to hold right when I finish. Next thing I know Arelys (apparently a new person to explain this to again) picks up the phone. She was a delight and handled my issue cheerfully. While it was pleasant to deal with her it doesn't fix the glaring customer service issues present on many levels of this company. I was a DM for years in the retail industry and now offer consulting to businesses focusing on the areas of customer service/operations. My friends at Pepboys who read this: there are so many missed opportunities throughout this scenario to win my money. It's almost as if the associates don't know who pays their checks. That is why the term is called customer "service". The idea is to "serve" the client/customer/guest to the best of ones ability and wow them so that they always think of you when needs of theirs arise in certain areas. People will most likely not remember the product or deal they got from you... not nearly as much or often as they will remember how you made them feel. read more

I had an appointment today @ 10 A.M. and was told that I had to wait 45 minutes. Ok no big deal BUT after 45 minutes or so go by I go up to the desk and ask what's going on. This location of Pep Boy's is kind of messy and disorganized. They will advertise something in their circular, you get to the store and they don't have it in stock or nobody knows what you are talking about.
