My husband and I brought a car to Pepboys in McDonough, GA on March 27, 2026. It needed a few different repairs, so it was at the shop for an extended period of time. We picked it up on April 25, 2026. We have gotten two traffic violation notices on this car, for speeding in a school zone during the time the car was in your custody. I have called twice. I was told the manager would return my call and he did not. I got in touch with their customer service email and was told their "leadership team" would contact me to resolve this, but I have not heard anything, despite receiving email from their customer service more than once, promising to find a resolution. We paid more than $2600 for the services we received and the car still has multiple dashboard lights illuminated. Are we supposed to also pay for the traffic violations? It's another $150, or we have to take the time to send in a bunch of notarized documents to show we did not have custody of the car at the time of the school zone speeding violations. Only giving 1 star just because they touched my car. I waited 6hrs for a 3hr job being told they were looking for/waiting on an o-ring to be delievere. I sat outside and watched a women deliver a bag with MULTIPLE boxes and watched the manager/front desk attendant take the bag to the mechanic. I work in a warehouse and have some knowledge of tools and parts and I'm positive 1 single o ring doesn't need multiple boxes. I go to pay after the were finished and find out that other things such as sensors were replaced temperature gauges etc. I did not ask for anything extra but my headlight to be changed nor was i notified of any other issues that needed to be taken care of. they did NOT get permission to do extra work on my car and still charged me for it. they took advantage of that fact that im a petite women in a luxury vehicle. let's also add that when my car was returned to me the hood wasn't down completely because they left the coolant cap under my hood... i will be contacting corporate to escalate the issues read more

You may very well be raptured, or die of old age, while you wait at this location, so say your goodbyes to friends and loved ones before coming. Appointments through both the website and phone are meaningless. As of this writing, I've been waiting for an hour and forty-seven minutes (since 9:17am) on an appointment from an hour and thirty ago; it took a solid fifty-four minutes after turning my keys over for my car to leave the space I parked it in. I'd like to believe this is related to the pandemic, but several years worth of going long enough between new tires to forget my utter revulsion at the death of costumer service have brought me here repeatedly and I can say, with no reserve, you'd be better off finding somewhere--anywhere--else, unless you really like sitting and watching movies from the late 90's for hours at a time. It's been fun, Pep Boys, but my off-day time is more valuable to me than your name recognition and convenient location. On 1/28/2023, I arrived at 1:45 p.m to have my tire patched due to a nail being in it. I purchased all four tires from. Pep Boys and have hazard on my tires that cover the tires being repaired. I was turned away and was advised they "we busy" and to come back the next day. Let me remind you the business does not close until 6 p.m. I will NEVER in life purchase another set of tires from this company. Took my vehicle to this location on 1/18 for an oil change and since they provided/offered complimentary oil change it was a no brainer. Once the oil change was completed and I'm ready to check out the clerk tells me that they did not rotate the tires because the tread was good on the front and rear. He went on to tell me that it was their "policy" to not rotate the tires if there was no benefit or advantage to rotating them. I asked about new tires being rotated or the service manual saying to rotate them every 6-8,000 miles. Me stuck by his original "policy" answer so I left. If I was going to spend as much as I did for that oil change and not get my tires rotated I would have taken my business somewhere else and paid for both services. A few days later I receive a request to review this particular location so I did and left my name number. Received reply that someone would contact me within 48hrs, as of today that still has not happened; however, I did receive another request to rate Pep Boys and sent them what you have already read. Their reply was that they could not post my rating on their site "because it did not meet their guidelines". I had my car in for an oil change. The checkout took about a half hour, and they just seemed disorganized and not all that interested in good customer service. No smile, no please and thank yous here. They also lied to me, telling me that My CV axle and ball joint were defective and unsafe and that there was lubricant everywhere. Quoted me just under $900 for a repair. I took it to a certified Honda technician and he put a new clamp on the CV boot after a thorough inspection and a little grease. It cost $90. Don't get rooked by these guys, get a second estimate for anything costly! read more

I got my tires and brakes done here back in 2011 and the work was good, but the parts a little pricey. I got to Pep Boys when they opened and I had my tires and brakes done in two hours and was out the door about 9:15 (they open at 7am). At that time it was still Big 10 tires and they honored a lower, competitive bid & discount that I negotiated before I came in. Today I got there at 7am to have my rear rotors and brake pads replaced (I brought my own parts this time). I was out by around 8:20. Because I bought my tires there back in 2011, Pep Boys honored rotating and balancing my tires for free. I got my rotors and brake pads installed for just a little over $100. I would have given it 4 stars, but be careful of the pricing. They charge a 10% shop fee on TOP of any prices they quote, so when getting a price quote ask them if that includes the shop fee. The staff is always nice and friendly and the work has always been good for me. I do not know what the policy is for the rotating and balancing of tires now that they are Pep Boys. I will be going back again when it is time to work on my front brakes. Thanks Pep Boys! read more

Sloooooow. I made an appointment on Saturday morning to get an oil change on my Prius. My appointment was for 5:00. My wife and I got there at about 4:55, and we were the only customers there. Nobody else. The service bays were empty. We sat in the waiting area for just over a hour. It doesn't even take me an hour to change the oil myself! The guy who appeared to be running the place seemed to be moving in slow motion. He had been told to rotate my tires. While I was paying, he said that they couldn't rotate my tires. He said that the tires on the front would need to be replaced soon, and that the rear tires weren't bad at all, and that the best tires should remain on the rear. I have always been told the opposite. If you have a blowout on a front tire, It affects your ability to steer. I think he just wanted to sell me 2 new tires. I'll never go back there again. I didn't like the attitude of the employees, their efficiency, or anything else. read more

I was quoted a much lower price than what was needed for a complete repair. The wrong part was ordered for my car so I had to wait an extra 4 hours to get my car repaired.( I had already made arrangements for a ride before that mistake). When I called to check on the status of my car I was on hold for 13 minutes before I hung up. I called back and the woman admitted she forgot to click back over to me. When I picked up my car my invoice showed a much higher price then what I was told that morning. The service manager was able to knock it down some. However I will NOT be a returning customer. read more

Had brake trouble while driving home from Ohio, and had our truck towed to this Pep Boys. It was after hours, so we left it overnight. They called promptly the next morning with a $1200 repair estimate, and said it probably would go higher because they couldn't even check two items until the $1200 was paid. We refused, thinking that they were trying to scam stranded travelers. As it turns out, we were right. We had the truck towed home, and a local shop repaired everything for less than $300. read more

I have frequented this location twice and on both occasions i have had a bad experience...the guys who work on the cars are great and they explain things to you and show you where the issue is located . The caucasian manager with glasses and the other gentleman who works inside checking people in and out are the most racist people I've ever met on both occasions they act as if they did not want to service me or any other African Americans. They are also super slow. They make derogatory comments as if I was below their educational level......NEVER GO HERE!!!!!!!! I won't be returning! read more

We are currently sitting in their parking lot with a truck that is overheating. We asked for assistance at 6:30 but they refused to even look at the truck because they were closing in 30 minutes. We are returning from vacation with 4 kids so you would think human decency would win out over staying a few extra minutes to at least diagnose the problem. So I guess I have to take part of the blame because I keep going to Pep Boys expecting to get good honest service and they screw me every time! The pure definition of insanity!! From California to Georgia every time I take my car to a PB it's a problem, the most recent in McDonough GA (Jonesboro Rd) I take my car in for and old change/tire rotation and I ask that all the fluid levels and brakes blah blah blah be checked cuz I'm taking a long road trip and I want everything checked out, I have an app and shortly after I see my car pulled around, I'm in the waiting room on my phone not thinking about to much but I know it's gonna be At least a hour or more! Well much to my surprise 30 min my car is ready. So I say how can that be I never saw the car on the rack raised or anything so I go out side to check to see if my tires had been rotated and what do y think I found that's right No tires had been rotated not one, how do I know you ask cause my son marked them before I left and the marks were in the same please Omg! Wow! But this isn't the first time with Pep Boys and the bottom line is they can't be trusted so I'm sure that all the other times I've been there to have tires rotated they never it and I don't even know if any service i had done was ever done because it seems to be a protocol with PB don't do it if y don't have to! They could not find my company on their computer, so I asked them to call the 1800 number on the back of my card to get the information needed through Enterprise and the counter help refused because he did not like AUTOMATED systems. Took my car at my appointment time for new brakes and knew there was possibly a rotor problem and maybe bearings. They took me right on time. They carefully examined my vehicle and found a broken CV joint along with rotor problems. We got a fair price and they even informed me of a coupon I could print out for 10% off. Great timely service and very friendly crew. They took the time to show my husband and I exactly what was wrong on the vehicle before we agreed to the service. Scheduled a 10 am appointment on a Sunday. Waited in a "line" of one person to drop off the car. After waiting 30 minutes, asked if there was another employee who could help, since we were now 20 minutes past the appointment time. Was finally acknowledged and able to drop off the key, reiterating the car had a leaky hose and was losing coolant. (Offered to point out which hose, was told no, it was fine, they'd take care of it.) Called two hours later to check the status. Car hadn't been looked at yet, in spite of the 10 am appointment. They were still taking care of cars from yesterday. Asked if the car would be seen today. Was told "I'll check with the guys and call you back." Never received a call. Stopped by four hours later to retrieve the car, which still hadn't been looked at. Was told they were busy with cars from yesterday. Asked why the appointment was available then. The lady behind the desk looked out the window and said "they took back the wrong car," before telling us they have no control over the availability of appointments, they had to finish the work from cars yesterday, the work took longer than expected, etc, etc. Though I was hoping to have the problem remedied before school/work starts tomorrow, I'll be heading to Express Oil Change in the morning, where I know the problem will be taken care of in a timely manner. read more

I have only had experience with the one on Jonesboro Rd in McDonough and I would not recommend them. I went there a few times as I have four cars. Each time I went, they recommended I get atleast $400 - $500 worth of work. They sound very convincing and explain everything they find. The cars aren't new, but sorry I'm not new either. Be weary of these guys and get a second opinion if you can. I will not have any more work done there. I also agree with Eva M, the guys in the shop are nice and courteous, but the dude behind the counter got a problem with Black folks. Real bad attitude. read more

I took my car to the Pep Boys on Jonesboro Rd in McDonough, GA when my brakes began squeaking. They repaired my brakes and 2 weeks later while driving on the highway my brakes malfunctioned. I took the car back to Pep Boys and was informed that I needed a new brake vacuum booster. I paid them another $608 for the vacuum booster. When I picked up my car and left Pep Boys I got approx 2 miles away and could tell my car was not operating properly, but I didn't know what the issue was. I stopped at a store and went in for approx 15 minutes. When I came out to leave the store my car would not move as the brakes had seized up. After approx 45 minutes the brakes cooled and I was able to return the car to Pep Boys (by the time I got there smoke was coming from the rear wheel wells due to the brakes being so hot). I left my car another 2 days and they said the fixed the issue and I could come pick up my car. Again when I left, I got approx 2 miles and smelled something burning and the brakes seized up. I spoke to the manager at Pep Boys and told him the problem was not fixed. He did offer to refund my money for the vacuum booster, but admitted that they did not know how to correct the issue. I had my car towed to a Mazda dealership and it was evaluated by a Mazda certified technician who determined the problem was that transmission fluid had been used in the brakes rather than brake fluid. This mistake by Pep Boys was so substantial that my car will now require a complete replacement of the brake system costing over $4,000. I presented the local Pep Boys with the written documentation as to the findings of the certified Mazda technician, but they were hesitant to accept responsibility. The manager, Sam, did say he would turn the complaint into their insurance and that I should hear from someone in the claims dept. Of course, days later no one called. I then called the Pep Boys corporate office and was transferred around to 3 different people. I was finally able to leave a voicemail for the person who is supposed to handle claims for the state of GA. Unfortunately, no one has even had the decency to return my call, leaving me with no choice but to file consumer complaints and potentially a lawsuit to get my car repaired. read more

I stopped by this morning simply to inquire if they had time to replace my rear view mirror and change a light bulb. There was no available parking (Employees should park behind the building to save room for customers). As I was getting out of my car parked way at the end of the building I was honked at by an employee as I guess I was partially blocking the entrance to a bay he was wanting to enter. From a customer service standpoint, I feel if he should have gotten out of the vehicle and asked if I needed help, then directed me to a better spot to park. I felt no one cared about the customer so I left and I am currently being served by another shop on the local area writing this review while the services are being performed. read more
