My friend and I were on vacation and realized I had gotten a screw in my tire and it was going flat. I called Pep Boys and they were able to get me in about 45 minutes before they closed. I stopped by there today to get my tire checked. When I arrived there was a full parking lot. A girl and a guy with dark hair that worked there were outside. I asked if anyone could maybe check my tire and the dark haired girl said "it would be a while. " I started to drive away and this other employee with employee with short salt and pepper hair and a light beard walked up and said he would help me!! He fixed my tire up in minutes and even refused to take the tip I offered! His customer service was awesome and I'll be back just because of him. I wish I got his name. Showed up and they said I'd have to wait 1.5 hours for my oil change because the guy who scheduled an appointment an hour before me didn't show up and was going to still get his ahead of me when he decided to come in.... immediately left. On Wednesday I got a nail in my tires and it wouldn't hold air. (mind you, I know I need to replace all 4, but I am waiting on taxes). I stopped in late in the afternoon to see if they could put my spare on for me and order me another one. They took care of my request quickly. They got my tire ordered and said it would be 4-5 business for it to come in. I told them that was fine and that I would have someone else would be bringing my car in for me, as I wouldn't be off work in time to get there. I asked them if they could just go ahead and dispose of my tire now instead of putting it back in my car. They offered to hold my tire, so when the new one came in they could put it on the rim immediately and my wait time wouldn't be near as long when the new one came in. Obviously, I agreed. I called this morning and spoke to Samantha to see if I could get an ETA on the arrival of new tire, because it won't be me bringing it up. She stated it wasn't on the truck this morning, but she would call shipper and call me back. I received a call back in less than 10 minutes with the information that I needed. This is the second time that I have been in the Orange Beach location and I am very happy with the service and attention that I have received. Oh yeah, I almost forgot.... I went to the counter after this was done to pay for the service that I had received and was told that "there is no charge, they didn't do anything for me"!! I was in shock when I left. After only a week of living on the Gulf Coast I managed to get a flat tire. I had to get it fixed in a hurry one day & the break I had at work only left me with less than an hour. A friend recommended Pep Boys off of Canal Rd to me. I decided to call ahead to check availability & pricing. Jennifer was great at answering my questions & assures me that I would be taken care of as soon as I got there. When I arrived, John almost immediately got to work fixing my tire, replaced the spare with it for me & even checked the pressure on all of my tires. & it didn't even cost me anything! They knew I was on a time limit & even with some stubborn lug nuts he was able to get me out of there extremely fast. I will be going here for all of my future car troubles & I highly recommend this Pep Boys to anyone living or vacationing in this area! read more

Booked an appointment online Friday a.m. early for an oil change and it showed an appointment at 10 a.m. that day. Great! I scheduled it for then - got an email confirming the appointment - even got a tracking number. When I showed up at 10 a.m. I was told that there was "no way" they could take me for oil change today. I rescheduled for tomorrow at 11 a.m. - I sincerely hope that there won't be a problem and that they can take me promptly. I am very disappointed that there appears to be no communication between whoever makes the appointment online and the brick and mortar store. I'll continue to use Pepboys because they are convenient and usually get me in at the appointed hour - this was NOT a good experience. read more

My battery died after I left my lights on and it wouldn't stay cranked even after jumping it off twice. Held my breath and drove to PepBoys on Canal. Al was honest and told me if I wanted to try to make it to Foley, I could probably get my battery pro rated at the Auto Zone there since my dead battery was from an Auto Zone. He said he felt he should give me the option. I appreciated the honesty but I didn't want to chance it back on the highway with a battery in its last days. I bought a new battery and the only one they had in stock was the more expensive one. It cost me $160ish for battery and labor! I think that's high but the more expensive battery was all they had in stock. Oh well, at least I feel safe to drive back to Mississippi! read more

I'm a local and scheduled an appointment ahead of time for an oil change. It took over three hours for a simple oil change! Plus I asked them to look at one tire for a slow leak. They forgot and started to give me the car back. After reminding them they took the car back and took another 25+ minutes to replace the value stem. read more

Friendly and competent! We needed an oil change on our Yukon today and called Pep Boys on Canal Road in OB. It was a great experience from start to finish. They told us it might be a couple hours and gave us a ride back to our home, rather than wait there. Later they called and came and picked us up to go back to the shop. Bought tires and had oil and fluid changes several times. The service and prices were good.

My tire was flat. I pumped it up and it was leaking around the value stem. Took it off the truck and went to this Pep Boys. Man said they're busy but if I left it for 2-3 hours they would fix it, so I did. Four hours later I went back and they hadn't touched it. Remember it's a 5 minute job to replace the value stem. Upset I said we'll can you do it, he said not now. I said fuck it I'll go somewhere else. He starts yelling What Did You Say! I stopped and said I said fuck it, I'll go somewhere else. He said good and don't come back. I said I won't. I went to the WalMart in Gulf Shore and left 15 minutes later with my tire fixed. That's what you call Customer Serve Pep Boys. I'll need new tires soon and differently will never go back to this Pep Boys. I hope the company sees this and knows the type of people they have running this store. read more

We had a noon appointment for an oil change, tire rotation, and for them to check the brakes to see if they needed to do a brakes replacement. We dropped the car off at 11:30 AM with arrangements made for them to call me once they had pulled the wheels to see if the brakes need replaced. By 1:30 PM they had not called, so I called them. He said, "We are really busy today and we only have one guy working." The thing I couldn't figure out was how all their busyness had anything to do with me since we had an appointment scheduled at noon. By 3 PM we still had not heard anything from them so my wife called this time. They told her, "We talked to your husband earlier and told him we were very busy and that there was only one person working." At 3:10 PM we saw the car being driven into a bay. At 3:47 PM they called to let me know the car was finished. However, there was no mention of the brakes. So I asked him if the brakes were in good shape. He said, "Your front brakes are in bad shape and need replaced." I asked him why he didn't call me to let me know that while the car was still up off the ground, seeing as how part of the reason we brought the car over with a 12 PM appointment was for them to change the brakes if they had determined they were no longer any good. He asked if I wanted to speak to the technician. I answered in the affirmative. Within a few seconds the technician was on the phone. He told me the brakes were "in the yellow" and while they didn't need to be replaced now, they would need to be replaced soon. By 4:19 PM my wife and I finally paid for the oil change and picked up the car. While this place has never been above average, something has happened to it recently causing it to be well below average. I can't imagine they will be open for very much longer. read more

Took my car in for a tire repair on a Thursday morning. Was told the tire couldn't be repaired so I asked them to replace it. Got called and text twice saying it was ready and it was not either times I came to pick it up. It was still on the lift with no tire on it. Guy behind the counter was super nice but clearly inept. They offered me a free oil change. I like how companies who screw the pooch don't discount your service but will offer you something free to come back and use them again. No thanks! read more

I want to first thank the employee Lee for all the help he gave us the Saturday we had my vehicle towed to your business. After checking it out the crew determined it was the Fuel Pump that had gone it. Pep Boys couldn't get the pay till Monday which was a problem since we had to leave Sunday. Lee told me that if I could find the part that Pep Boys would put it on even thought that wasn't their policy to use after market parts. He told me that he wouldn't be working Sunday but he would let the Sunday manager know. First problem was that when we got there, which we got there late because our cab driver told us they didn't open at 7 they opened at 9 which was a lie, the manager for Sunday had no idea about us coming today or that Lee said we could use an after market part, which we found at Auto Zone in Pensacola, Fl, that we had to get a taxi to get to. The manager at first got upset thinking my fiancé was getting loud with him and being rude. I explained we are from out of town and that it's been a hell of a relaxing weekend for us and to please call Lee and ask him about helping us. The man was visibly upset and acting rude but did call Lee and he did explain the situation. Instead of the manager coming back to tell us Lee said to do the work that he promised he had one of his crew come and tell us they would fix the car with the part we bought and would all us when it was fixed. The taxi driver who knew the manager that was working was in the garage talking with him when they started talking about us and the window is right behind the register and we could hear them calling us names and she told him we got upset with her because she told us she wouldn't come get us till 9 am because she didn't realize Pep Boys was open. We left and got back to hotel. About five hours later they called and said car was ready. For a shuttle to them and the car started up. We drove ten minutes down the road to eat and when we left the car stalled and wouldn't start. Needless to say the 450 dollars we spent at Auto Zone was a waste and so was the 400 we spent of labor for them to fix a part on my car that had nothing wrong with it. We had a real mechanic fix it when we got back and it was my fuse block which is what we had explained to them that we were continuously having to change the fuses around to get the car to start. We called Pep Boys corporate after the fact told them our issues and they said they would call us back but that never happened. Don't use this place or any other Pep Boys! read more

Made an appointment to get my oil changed for 10 am, I arrived at 9:20 am in hopes of getting in early. Unfortunately, I was not able to get in early so they said come back at 10 am. When I went back at 10 am, they informed me that I was going to have to wait atleast 45 minutes to get my vehicle in, and then another 45 minutes to get the oil changed. I asked why was I not told this when I was there earlier, and the lady told me that she was trying to call a technician, blah, blah, blah. She had my phone number, she could have called to let me know. PEPBOYS is unreliable and will not be getting any more of my business. Never once did the lady try to apologize or anything, instead she walked away so that another employee could deal with it. Was not going to waste a minimum of two hours at this place. I took my business elsewhere and will continue to do so. I don't understand the purpose of making an appointment when you are still going to have to wait, WHAT A JOKE! read more

My husband made an appointment a couple days ago they called back and canceled and said they were too busy and rescheduled him for today Sunday at 10, all he needed was tired to en put on, we called all day and no answer, so we show up at 5:00 and his truck was in the same spot where he parked it and the tires were still in the back. I was very disappointed with the manager and staff at the Pep Boys at the Orange Beach location. My friends and I stopped for assistance after hearing a loud screeching sound from the right front tire on my vehicle. After being there for over four hours, I was given an estimate of around $600 for repairs. The manager used very inappropriate foul language with us while trying to persuade me to let them to do the repairs. We felt uneasy about the situation and so we contacted a friend to come and look at it and to discuss the repairs with the manager. He then realized that they were trying to make unnecessary repairs such as replacing the brake rotor, brake pads and possibly the caliper. He told them to put the tire/wheel back on and that he would take the car with him to have it checked out. After putting the tire/wheel back on, the manager then dropped a pebble on the counter and said, "This was the problem." The pebble had fallen out when they had removed the wheel. This was the cause of the screeching sound we had heard. We drove the vehicle for about 400 miles with no problems at all. I took it to a local mechanic shop the next day to have it checked out to see if the pebble had damaged it in any way. There was no damage at all. Pep Boys had just tried to take advantage of three ladies who were traveling and were trying to return home. Please be aware of this business if you are traveling in the Orange Beach area. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. I swore years ago I would never use a Pep Boys again after I walked up to bring an extra key after telling the manager that I had dropped one in the drop box the night before. I could't forget because it was freezing cold (NJ) and the tow truck driver pulled as close to the door as he could. When I got there, they said, " oh, we found it, someone must have kicked it under the carpet" In November, my truck broke down up by Huntsville. I didn't want to go to a Pepboys, but according to the tow truck driver it was the only thing around. Well, first they said I needed to replace the power steering pump. They picked me up from the cockroach infested motel that would take my three dogs, just to arrive at the garage and have them tell me it was steaming. I had to have the water pump replaced. Well, that was 11 and I picked it up at 6. They told me the belt would squeak for a while. Well, its March and the belt is still squeaking and the power steering system has been leaking ever since. I add fluid everyday. I made an appointment in Orange Beach more than a week ago. I took it in Saturday at 11. They told me two people had called out, so they couldn't guarantee the work would get done. I said, no problem, I could wait until tomorrow. No one called me all day Saturday. I called first thing Sunday morning. "no, problem we will "look" at it" I told them Saturday that I was walking home. I called again Sunday at 2:30, just to be told they would look at it before closing. I asked when they closed, they said 4. I told them I had to walk and just to forget it. After my hour walk, I got there and there were two Cadillacs and a Lexus in the bays. I guess a Dodge Dakota isn't worth looking at. Totally unprofessional, incompetent and completely inconsiderate! I will NEVER NEVER go to a Pepboys again, I don't care what I have to do. Stay away, I will be telling everyone who will listen, to go anywhere else! read more

I have never had better service. I was on a quick vacation to Gulf Shores before my great grandmothers 90th birthday in Hot Springs, AR. My boyfriend and I traveled from Oklahoma and had no problems with my car up until our last evening, as we were planning to leave at 5 AM the next morning. AAA came and looked at my car, charged the battery and it died again. We were on our way to Auto Zone and the power steering went out. Thank God PepBoys was next door. After two different people telling me my battery was good and I would need a new alternator immediately, I started to panic thinking I was going to be stuck in Gulf Shores. I walked over to PepBoys and had been waiting in the lobby for a bit when a young man came in and told me that only 2 people were working and they were super busy but that he worked at the PepBoys in Orange Beach and asked what the problem was. I told him that I was traveling and had to be in Hot Springs the next day, that my battery kept dying and power steering went out and I had been told it was my alternator. He was kind enough to talk to the manager for me and they were more than willing to help although they were so busy. The young boy who worked for the other store grabbed his work shirt and started to help so they could get my car done in time for me. It took about 5 hours and they worked over time but they were able to help me and get me to where I needed to be, safely. Thank God for these men and this store in Foley, AL and for the young man from Orange Beach. read more

Brought my car in at 8:15AM for an oil change and to replace one tire that had begun to make a roar the day before. "Service" mgr Kyle Santo said he would call me when repair had been made. At 4PM when I called, believing he had simply forgotten to make that call, he answered after approx. 20 rings and said that it was going into the bay now and would call me when ready. At 630pm I looked up the website to see what the hours of operation were (7-7). As I no longer wanted to drive to pick up my car at night, I waited till the next morning. When I called at 11:15, Al told me it had not been looked at!!?? He said he would do it himself and call me back. 1 hr later he calls back and says oil is changed. I asked about the tire and he said that it was not on the ticket. I told him that was the original reason I brought the car. He replaced the tire and called me 40 minutes later to say that it was ready. Why did this have to be so hard? If the service mgr can't even right the service needed down on the ticket, what's he doing in that position? I asked upon pick up to waive the oil change fee for having lied to me about calling me back and that he was not actually pulling my car into the bay the day before. He declined to comply offering me a coupon instead. I asked for his card which he said he didn't have because he was new. I asked his full name which he gave as Kyle Kyle---really?? When given my receipt I asked if his name was the one on the ticket to which he said yes. Said he didn't make a habit of giving his name out. I advised that he should continue this practice based on his level of "service", and asked that he stop calling me "friend", as my friends don't lie to me. Long and short is...I've done my last business at this Pep Boys and will always tell this story when others in my hometown OBA ask for a recommendation for auto service. read more
