I brought my car in because the AC was blowing hot air and paid both a $59.99 AC/electrical diagnostic fee and an additional $9.99 AC system evaluation/package fee to find and fix the issue. After paying over $500 total for diagnostics, tires, alignment, and an AC relay replacement, I picked up the vehicle only to find the AC was still blowing hot air exactly as before. The explanation I received was that they "did not check if the AC was working" after replacing the relay. That is unacceptable for an AC repair diagnosis. Verifying whether the repair actually fixed the issue should be the most basic part of the service process, especially after charging diagnostic fees specifically for the AC problem. To make matters worse, the only resolution offered was that they would "not charge to remove the Freon" if I brought the car back again for additional repairs. In other words, I paid for a repair that did not solve the problem, and now I am expected to spend more time and potentially more money because the repair was never properly verified before returning the vehicle to me. Very disappointed with the lack of quality control, accountability, and customer service. I would not trust an AC diagnostic or repair here again. read more

I was very pleasantly surprised when I took my car in for tire installation this morning. I had a 9 AM appointment. In the past, appointment times meant very little when I visited this Pep Boys, so I was somewhat prepared to wait for longer than necessary. I was taking advantage of a fleet service installation, so choices are limited. However, today, I was checked in promptly and professionally; my car was quickly taken back to the shop; I received text communication along the way; at 10:26 AM, my car was ready. Checkout was straightforward; I received thorough documentation, and I was on my way out for a late breakfast. When I tell you the customer service was absolutely amazing words couldn't describe how satisfied and relieved I was to come to this location. After losing all power on Little rd on a Sunday and having to be towed to the closest repair facility, which was Pep Boys which was open. I called Pep Boys to alert them that we would be bringing the car in via a tow truck and described what had happened. We arrived, got the car checked in and got a ride home to wait. Later that afternoon, we got a call the car was ready and it was just the battery and the alternator was fine! I'm not a mechanic, but i didn't believe that one, but left to go pick it up with my husband. I told him I'd wait while he went and paid for the battery and noticed we'd just bought a 6 year battery in January, so only 8 months prior from our regular mechanic. My husband came out to tell me that the 30 month Pep Boys battery for $260 already had the battery light on, good thing I waited and hadn't left! Back in he went again, telling them that they said the alternator was fine, which it's obviously not, 2) we want our battery back since it's under warranty and probably not even bad. Now it's going to cost an additional $1200, but we are stuck! Monday afternoon, we get the call the car is ready and go to pick it up. We pay, ask for our battery and it's gone and they don't know where it is, even though we had a whole conversation the day before.. we then find out the alternator is rebuilt, not new which wasn't disclosed and is making terrible noises. They refused to give us the $ for the battery, even though they lost or stole ours and sold us a lesser quality battery we probably didn't even need! Buyer beware!!! read more

I made an appointment, via phone last week, for 10:30 this morning at store number 1822 in New Port Richey. At 11:30, I asked the manager (Patrick) why I'm still waiting with no plausible reason, from him, as to why. Shortly thereafter, my vehicle was finally taken back for the services I requested. Since we are planning a five-month road trip, I requested a tire inspection, a tire rotation, a brake inspection plus a brake fluid flush (I provided the fluid), a steering/suspension inspection, a check of all fluids and to make sure all tires (including the spare) had the correct tire pressure. I also asked to have the windshield wipers replaced (which I provided). At approximately 12:20 my vehicle was placed outside as if all was completed. I was surprised that it took less than one hour to complete all tasks, so I confronted the service writer (John) regarding what I observed while the vehicle was on the rack. I observed the technician performing the tire rotations without any sort of inspections whatsoever. Upon leaving, I found the brake fluid still in the vehicle. I now have to make arrangements to have the work done elsewhere. Keep in mind that I've been coming to this location for the three years I've lived in the area. Needless to say, I'm beyond disappointed!! Lord knows what else they haven't done during those three years! The manager needs to stop riding his two-wheel scooter through the parking lot, manage the technicians and spend some time up front answering phones!!!! read more

If I could give them less than one star, I would. They did an oil change on my car, didn't replace the oil reservoir cap and all the oil in my car drained or blew out without my knowledge. The result: IT BLEW MY ENGINE!!! They refused to take responsibility for it and it cost me thousands of dollars in repairs! DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS! read more

Honestly, spend your money elsewhere.... I scheduled a simple oil change at this location for 9 AM on a Saturday morning. The man who helped us mentioned that they were running a little bit behind that morning, so I was prepared for a little bit longer of a service. I left my car there, went home, and figured it would be about 2 or so hours since they were running behind. The service took 5 hours. 5!! HOURS!! For an oil change!!! When Pep Boys called me around 12:30 PM, I thought my car was ready to be picked up. Nope - they just wanted to see if I wanted my tires aligned and replaced (I appreciated this inquiry, but turned it down as I could not afford it at the time). After this call, it ended up being another hour and a half before I picked my car up. It probably would've been even longer had I not called and asked when my car was going to be ready. It took ME calling THEM to figure out that it was ready, not the other way around. The man on the phone's only excuse for it was that "we've been so busy this morning, I just never got around to calling" While I was annoyed at how long the service took, it wasn't anything that I was going to let ruin my mood. However, this all changed when I picked up my car. As soon as I sat down, I noticed oil marks ALL OVER my center console. I wish I would've taken a picture of it before I cleaned it up, because it was a ridiculous amount of oil marks. In addition to the oil, I also noticed that they peeled part of my windshield tinting off when they replaced the sticker! I understand this is a small thing to be getting annoyed about, but it was truly the straw that broke the camel's back with everything else that went wrong during this visit. My daughters took my Nissan in to have the brake fluid checked and topped. It has been sitting a couple of weeks and this occasionally happens. The staff said they would take care of it. 15 minutes later when the status was checked they said their mechanic was out and they had to wait for him to return. 15 minutes after that they said they had to unload a truck first. This is poor business practice. 1. Don't take on a job you aren't staffed for. 2. Never have a paying customer wait while you do side work like inventory. read more

I had a tire leaking air, and they were upfront about the wait time as it was late in the day, but while I was waiting, I could tell they really care about making sure their customers are taken care of. Completely expectations. Scenario: AC in '16 Dodge Grand Caravan RT tanked. (Black car, 90 degree heat. A real joy.) Took it in yesterday to Pep Boys to have AC recharged. No such luck. Diagnostic revealed evaporator failure, a big fix. Called my extended warranty company (Car purchased from Enterprise). Got zero hassle, "take it anywhere you want and have them give us a call,." (Took a minute to recover from that shock.) Brought car back into PepBoys when they opened at 8:00a.m. today. after I signed off on paperwork; Sean (the project lead) contacted and got approval from the warranty company. Promised to have in ready by close of business (7p.m.). PB sent me home in a Lyft they paid for. Car ready at 5. AC working perfectly. Total out of pocket cost for this big fix, $56.OO sales tax. Bottom line: good guys. Excellent work. Exactly as promised. Ready early. Net: in Hudson, PepBoys will get first crack for all my automotive maintenance and repair needs. read more

Haha... this place is a joke. It smelled like WEED mixed with air fresheners. No seriously, straight up weed. I should have known better. A mechanic shop selling air fresheners is not a good sign. The "doctor" came out to look at my car and told me that he could not even touch it without an appointment and me agreeing to a full brake job. Why? I have no idea. I wish i could give zero stars to this store. My son took a new wheel bearing and flange to be pressed out, and a new one pressed in. No big deal right? Not at pep boys! When he brought it back the rotor wouldn't turn because they pressed the flange in too far!. the rotor was rubbing against the lower control arm He disassembled again took it up there and PATRICK said there was nothing they could do because of liability. They pressed it in too far and there is nothing they could do???. Nice to know they can't back up the work they can't perform correctly. DONT GO HERE!!! We went to have our air conditioner fixed and after supposedly putting dye in, evacuating the system and refilling it we were told it would be fine and if not to bring it back. Mind you we paid $240 for this. BIG SUPRISE... it didn't work. Next day we take it back and we overheard an associate tell another employee they never actually put the dye in to check for leaks, WHICH WE PAID FOR! they then used a "sniffer" and found that we had a HUGE leak. They also evacuated the system again which we had just paid for and never refilled it saying " there isn't any reason to refill it with such a big leak"...They then quoted us $1500 more for parts and labor to fix some coil in the dash board. We decided a second opinion was best and our car only needed a new switch.... when we asked about a refund of any kind considering they took back what they put in anyway we were denied by the rude associates.... never go here!!!!!! read more
