I was driving alone in Orlando on the interstate and my AC shut off completely, and a red temperature warning light popped up on my dashboard. Upon further research, it looked like I needed some coolant. But, as a 23 year old girl, I really had no idea how to install that into my vehicle! They are very communicative and quick with their services. However I've been here three times and every single time the engine light would just come back on the day after. They charged me $1300 for a leaking water pump as well as left my coolant almost empty. They also tightened the belt wrong so now my car squeals when I turn on the engine. They also didn't notice my battery was leaking. Anyway, found all this stuff out afterwards. Don't really recommend them for anything serious, just an oil change. I recently went into Pep Boys in Saint Cloud Fl to have a set of TPMS installed. The manager on duty at the time said that it would be about 2 hours wait but if I made an appointment for the following Wednesday, it would only be an hour. So, I made the appointment. When I arrived on Wednesday, the person at the counter advised me that it was going to take 3 hours. It wasn't the worst thing that the wait was going to be longer than when I didn't have an appointment, but that the attitude of the person was that he didn't want my buisness anyway. Amazing Service and Professionalism! Jake and the team are a life saver! I was stranded on the highway during a roadtrip and got towed to this nearby location. They ran a diagnostics and had my car symptoms immediately. I evaluated what I need to get done in order to get the car home vs what I need to do as soon as it gets home. I am a night shift nurse and was having battery trouble. My car wouldn't start. I got it jumped and my girlfriend took off half a day of work to take it to pep boys to get it replaced/looked at. We called early that morning and told them the problem and explicitly asked if they had the battery if we needed it for the make/model of my car and they said yes. They made my girlfriend wait 40 minutes to look at it only to tell her yeah you need a battery but we don't have it. She took half a day off work for this!!! I have recently become a customer of PepBoys, due to the employment of "MY" mechanic, John Trent. John is one of the most honest, reliable and field knowledgeable men I have ever met. Until meeting John I have never walked into a auto repair shop and not dreaded it. Walking into any location where John has worked/works makes you feel welcome. I don't know what it is about the employees that work under his management, but they always seem so pleasant, regardless. That says so much about the man they're working for/with. I met John about 5 years ago, when he worked for a competitor of yours. When he changed companies, so did I. I've always been taught that a good and honest mechanic is hard to find. John is the reason I don't mind traveling 1.75 hours from Tampa, to get my car serviced. I have been going to pep boys in St. Cloud since 2012, the service used to be exemplary. When I needed to use their services again this past Sunday it was a completely different story. I called ahead to request an appointment and was told that it would not be necessary to make an appointment, just stop by. When I arrived there I was told it would be a three hour wait, when I asked them why they did not let me make an appointment the day before when I phoned I was told by the desk manager that contrary to what their on line advertisement said about making appointments they did not take appointments. The same desk management said to me if I wanted to have my car repaired in a more timely manner that I should have showed up an hour before they opened. Needless to say that this customer will be taking her vehicle to an alternate tire/maintenance service in the future. read more

Take your car elsewhere!!! I had made an appointment for an oil change, which includes fluid check and tire rotation etc., at 9am. When I arrived for my appointment, a few minutes early, I let Preston know that I was there for an oil change and to rotate my tires. I was told by Preston it was going to be an hour and a half before my car could be done. I said okay because as I know places are extremely short staffed and struggling for employees. I called for a ride and waited for my car. To my surprise my car was finished within an hour. This is where my issue comes into play with the store. I had specifically marked my tires to make sure the tires were rotated, TO WHICH THEY WERE NOT. My fluids were not check because as soon as I arrived home my dash light came on saying my wiper fluid was low/empty. Did we even do an oil change? Jonathan M is the person who did the service on the car. My husband had called the store, not sure who he spoke to, to which their answer was the tire rotation service is free and that they were out of windshield wiper fluid. I'm pretty sure it's included in the $70 oil change service and why wasn't I made aware that they were out of windshield washer fluid? The kicker is the survey on the receipt I went to do at pepboysurvey.com says the survey is no longer available. You have seven days to do it. It hasn't even been 5 hours since I received the oil change. read more

Everything about the experience this trip was awful, and this was only for an oil change. I made an appointment the day before and arrived ten minutes early. I left my keys at the front-desk after checking in with a worker named Preston and sat down. I thought he was short with me compared to the woman who he was helping previously, but times are hard right now so I brushed it off. I waited an hour before my car was even brought to the garage, listening to him and a fellow co-worker Jake talk poorly about other people and possibly myself. I've had oil changes before at this location, and regardless of how rude people have been I've at least gotten timely service. Receiving my car afterwords is when I realized someone must not like me. It's normal to have one or two things amiss, but my radio was changed, my rear-view mirror was adjusted all the way down (would have been beneficial to no one), my seat was moved all the way back, and I was not provided a sticker to let me know when I should head back (I know to come back preferably every 3,000 miles, but it's still unprofessional). I assure you I was as kind as I could possibly be. I value my ability to empathize with people and know workers are under appreciated and can use some slack. I work in food, I know how it is. It was during my wait in the waiting room, when I heard them say after hanging up a call with a guest, "F*** you too." that I felt I should say anything at all. It was just an unpleasant experience and I can't go back if this is how things are. read more

This place is joke! The manager quoted me at $500 for the WRONG diagnostic. Not to mention he was very rude to say the least and spoke to me in a disrespectful manner which cannot be justified. I am not an unreasonable person and I do realize that it can become quite expensive to fix vehicles. However, anyone would understand that the diagnostic Pep Boys gave me was outrageously expensive and would prompt questions. I might have actually trusted them to fix my vehicle if the manager hadn't been incredibly rude or if he didn't talk to me as though I was not a worthy paying customer. Thankfully, I took my vehicle somewhere else where the mechanic fixed the REAL problem and it was only a fraction of the cost that Pep Boys tried charging me. 11/7/14 took my car to Pep Boys St. Cloud as it was running a little rough. They told me I had a cracked head and it would cost me over $1400.00 and that I should get rid of my car asap as it was just a matter of time when I had even more costly expenses. I told them I had to think about it. I got a second opinion from a local mechanic and all my car needed was an oil change for $35.00. In addition, had a light bulb burn out and they said they could change it but they would have to pull the entire front end off because of the way the car was built which would cost me $100.00. When to Discount Auto purchased a replacement light bulb and the associate at Discount Auto installed it for me total cost $2.38. DO NOT GO TO PEP BOYS IN ST. Had my son 's car towed to PepBoys in St. Cloud because it was leaking brake fluid. They wanted to charge me $975. for rotors and calipers (not even new brake pads!) $975.!! Decided to have the car repaired elsewhere- then they tried to charge me an "inspection" fee, and $40. for towing - which is $19.99 for PepBoys Rewards members. Then they told me they could do the work ON ONE SIDE for $382. Scammers. Talking to these guys is like dealing with used car salesmen. Did a lot of business there, but it's not the same since the old manager (John) is gone. Do yourselves a favor and go directly across the street to BF Goodrich, where they repaired the car - rotors, calipers AND brake pads for HALF the money - and had it ready in a few hours. read more

Took Buick Rendezvous in with intermittent wiper and window failure, Their "expert", with 35 years in GM service, looked at it for ten minutes, got lost for an hour and then came up with the most unbelievable LIE. The only component in that system loop that is expensive is the entire fuse/relay assembly, which of course, he determined I needed. Hard to find, many hours of labor .... expensive. I said no and left. Loose relay. Cleaned contacts, reseated, everything works. Knowing deceiving for financial gain and conspiring to do same are both felonies. read more
