I had a very frustrating experience with Pep Boys, mainly dealing with the manager Cody. He was extremely rude, unprofessional, and even hung up the phone on me while I was trying to explain an ongoing issue with tires I purchased from this location. The tires had to be replaced twice because they were defective. I had to bring my vehicle back more than four times for the same problem, which wasted a lot of my time. Each visit seemed to come with additional charges, even though the issue was related to the tires I had already purchased. What makes it worse is that I originally bought tires that were advertised on special. After all the repeated visits and extra charges, I ended up paying more than what the regular price of the tires would have been in the first place. Customer service was extremely disappointing, especially from management. Instead of trying to resolve the issue professionally, I was treated disrespectfully and my concerns were dismissed. My low air in tire indicator came on and I couldn't find my gauge to check tires myself so I drove to Pep Boys on hwy 42 in Summerfield (Mulberry Grove area of Villages) Explained my dilemma and gave my theory for indicator (car parked for several days in garage during recent cold snap). Mechanics checked my air pressure and all 4 tires were a bit low so he added air, confirming the cold weather low pressure theory. Air pressure checks are a free curtesy service and I was very appreciative of that kindness. read more

12/15/25 Purchased a set of tires online, this place was supposed to put them on for me. Called them on 12/11/25 and set up an appointment to drop off a set of rims and asked them if they could install the tires on them and i would come back later in the afternoon and have them put on. I get there at 7:00 am monday morning 12/15/25. Opened the door slightly and asked the guy at the desk if they were open, his reply was the doors open isnt it. So i began to explain what it was i was wanting to do. He cuts me off and says you dropping it off, i say no im not he replies that they wont get to it today because they are busy, very rude from the get go. So i began explaining that i purchased the tires online and can see them sitting by the door so i can sense that he wants nothing to do with changing my tires and the reality of it is, he wants nothing to do with it because its a dually, its not grandmas car with 14" rims. So then he begans to question me about my paperwork for the tires, so i show him that and at this point i tell him i will just take the tires somewhere else and have them install them. I will never spend another dime at this place, they have no business calling themselves a tire store. I took my tires and rims to Sumter tire in wildwood and they had them installed on my truck in about an hour. If you have a truck and need real tire or mechanical work done on your truck, take it to Sumter tire not this place, its a joke. As a matter of fact when i arrived at Sumter tire they had not opened yet. They had about 10 cars in front of their bay doors. When they opened the bay doors they had about 15 men and women come out and each one greeted a customer and they had those cars and trucks cleared out of there in about an hour, thats service not a rude counter associate that doesnt want to be there in the first place. Ill take my business to sumter tire everytime from here on out. Not this place. read more

They put the wrong coolant in our car, causing more problems. They charged us 1,000's of dollars throughout the years "fixing" our car. They take advantage of The Villagers so beware. They are not worthy of anything but perhaps putting on new tires. They overcharge and then make excuses. Last time we were there I was treated poorly, and waited 45minutes after my scheduled appt. time, without any word , or them even looking at my car. Is not your time valuable as well? Don't schedule customers and then leave them sit for 45 min, not even explaining why. I finally asked, and was treated in a very condescending and degrading way by the man named Morris. We were told we had a warranty on work done, and then they said "this issue" was something else. We took our car to a reputable place, and they said they "initially" put the wrong coolant in, which lead to other problems that we had with the car. It cracked another part of our car, and that then needed to also be replaced. ALL Clearly DUE to their error. Bottom line is they rip you off. And as far as tires go, there are other places that are more reasonable and honest than Pep Boys as well. They will never get our endorsement again, and after years of us being naive, we've finally wised up. Stay away from this place, unless you have money to burn! Good luck! Repaired door latch assembly on 2008 Kia Spectra less than two years ago and reported a problem the day after. Was told it was working as designed. Not true, and now it failed completely. The response from the manager was I was not here then. I paid $70 just to be told it was not under warranty. This was yesterday. Now the door is hardly unlocking with the key. Just an update on the service issue. I took the car to another mechanic. The door is opening correctly now, and I can lock the door while it is open and close it while still locked with no problem. So, the mechanic who did the original work lied to me, when he said that is how is designed to keep you locking your keys in the car. The problem with the key lock almost not turning after I took it in last week is now working fine. The mechanic said that assembly had been installed incorrectly. It was supposed to run inside the steel plate, but it had been run on the outside of it, causing stress every time the latch was opened. I understand, the manager was not there when the work was done in July of 2022. But he should have stood behind the work regardless. I have been using Pep Boys for years but never again. read more

I have given Pep Boys so many chances against my better judgment ! 1. They would not give customer a paper receipt saying that everything was "digitized" and that it would be sent in an email which puts the burden on customer to have to print their own receipt ! 2. After asking twice for windsheild wiper fluid to be refilled , the third time they were still out and they let customer leave thinking our car had sufficient fluid which caused a dangerous driving situation ! They also did not check our battery strength as we had asked. Both of the above are advertised as their services. But we had to repeatedly ask for it and they ignored/forgotand our requests ! 3. They gave very bad advice and uses bad techniques to treat car ... They could not even do the most simple tasks requested, as above, and terrible with 2 BIG problems we had, as well ! Limited space prevents more detail about all of that ! I am just listing the small issues as an example to report/showcase that they can't even do the small tasks. 4. They did not give us copy of the tire warranty and when our 4 new tires were made to see how old the tires were that they sold us. 5. Their restrooms were very, very disgusting with thick brown ring in the toilet bowl.... and floors terrible too.... 6. Their corporate office will not respond to the email that we sent them about all of this ... They do not stand by their advertisements and their business practices so they could end up with lawsuits when their customers are left in dangerous driving situations ! They are going to be losing even more of their customers than they already have ! I have seen other bad reviews about them, too, so they do not have good customer service and do nothing to keep their customers ! read more

Disappointed with quality of service I received there. Went in with an electrical charging problem that they timely and correctly identified as an alternator and drive belt. After paying what , to me, seemed excessive for the repeirs, I started up the vehicle only to find that the controls on the panel directing the air flow was stuck open in defrost only. I immediately went back in to the office with my findings. After a visual check by the shop attendant, not finding the problem, I was told that it was unlikely that anything the mechanic could have done would have caused the new problem and that he had gone home for the day and that I could check back in the morning. Upon returning the next morning I was greeted by the same attendant who said he had talked with the mechanic and was reassured that there was nothing he did that could have caused the new problem. This without anything type of reinspection by the mechanic. When I took it to another repair shop, where I was greeted immediately by one of their employees, I explained the new problem and the prior days work that was done. He looked under the hood and within 2 minutes was able to identify a broken vaccum hose that ran right next to the newly replaced alternator. It took him only another few minutes to find a piece of replacement hose and fix the problem. He did this at no charge and I was off on my way. Bottom line....be leary of Pep Boys of the Villages. read more

My girlfriend had a older Volvo that constantly had fuel injection problems, we took it to pep boys and they kept it a couple of days and had there specialist work on it, he found the problem and ordered the part and we haven't had a problem with this car in over 8 months since. Let's start by saying I know what I'm talking about. I do all the work on my on cars and have seen multiple people ripped off so I hate take no my car to someone else and only do it if there is no other choice. I do my own engine, transmission, brake, electrical work, etc and $719!!! I look at the quote and its $157 in labor. More than twice what it should be. The rest is the hub assembly, sensors, and bearing. My phone just broke the night before so I couldn't look up the part and when I tell them that is way high they tell me all sensors and hub assembly have to be replaced with the bearing tame that they would take $35 off the part. I begrudgingly do it since I have no choice and they tell me it's an hour labor. I have to be somewhere and have my kids so I agree but know I'm looking into it afterwards. Sure enough, I can't even find the hub assembly, sensors, and bearings for less than $55. They charged me over $420!!!! F**CKING CROOKS!!!! I swear if Pep Boys doesn't refund me the difference... My boyfriend went to this Pep Boys garage because his truck was leaking coolant. He was told he needed a new hose to the tune of $750. Because he didn't feel comfortable with that diagnosis and price, he went to another repair garage. They found he also needed a new water pump. Pep Boys didn't find that???? He had the repairs done for $550 at Wildwood Tire Co. This included labor and all materials. read more

Lets start with the positives, the wating room has a charging station for your mobile phones, which is nice. There is a keureg and large tv with remote in the brake room also. I took my jeep in there for a simple tire alignment. Im running 35in tires with a 5 in lift. When they did the alignment they did not lift the bay door up all the way. When they would put the jeep on or off the lift (4 times toal) they smacked my cb antenna aginst the rool up door. Causing the tip of the fire stick to come off. This is just principal, the door fully lifted has more than enough clearance. The rubber tip/boot costs about 2$ which i dont mind replacing in order never to go back through that shop again. The real issue is when they did the alignment they over corrected the stearing leaving me with about half a rotation of the wheel to the left and extreamly exaggerated roatatin to the right. Leaving me doing a 5 point turn in the school parking lot because of the lack of my turning radius. Also driving a lifted jeep, the exaggerated right could of easily caused me to rool over. This problem was corrected when i returned the jeep to the shop the next day. How ever i aquired a serious death wabble, that the tech said was of no fault of the shop, but was not present prior to the alignment. I will never be going to this specific shop again. Furthermore while i was in the wating room an hour longer than they predicted. I witnessed the tech sell a set of tires and protection plan to a older couple with a small suv complaining of a slight shake and vibration while driving. Its obious this spicific shop is only concerned about taking money from the older demographic of the erya. I did not see any true knowlage or experience, with the exception of the gentleman who ordered the 2nd repair of the jeep. One last thing, they will take your vehicle for a test drive without a verbal concent. I did have a silenced rifle in the jeep, that i made inoperable upon the drop off of the jeep (yes, i do have the proper tags and documentation for the rifle). Had i known they would of been driving it down a mojor road i wouldn't of brought the rifle. Or let them test drive it without putting it behind the rear seat. Do not use this shop. read more

I've dealt with them 3 times and I highly recommend them. It does have a great waiting room, kuerig, tv, charging station, everything you need when waiting -- but the service is most important and it's very god. read more
