Friendly as can be, and one of the few times I've been to an auto shop that was honest with me. I took my car in to have the headlight bulb replaced (which costs around $35). The mechanic came back in to let me know that the bulb was fine but came loose or was installed incorrectly, and only charged me $9. They could have easily just replaced the bulb and not told me, and I wouldn't have known. I appreciate the honesty. As if that wasn't already "worthy" of a positive review, I was that horrible customer that came in 20 minutes before closing to ask for an oil change. When I noticed that they were closing soon, I mentioned that I could come back another day but they wouldn't have it. They completed my oil change quickly, and didn't give me any attitude like in other places I have seen. Did I mention this was on New Year's Day? Awesome customer service. The office for this Pep Boys is to the right of a Hertz rental shop sitting with a door entry to the Pep Boys garage. The door leading to the garage section bangs every time someone opens it. On a Sunday afternoon I discovered a deflated tire. Searched for an open tire center and there were only a few. My first stop didn't assist due to computer shut down but they inflated my tire so I can go to another. Pep boys was still open and when I got there a staff said they were understaffed and had an appointment at 430, if it's a now show then they will take care of me. Sure enough, suddenly an opening. Took my car and inspected the tire. It was repairable so they plugged the hole discovered then I was back on the road in no time. Please don't take your vehicle here. I took my 2019 Land Rover Discovery here for a simple brake job. Took it back 3 to 4 times for them to fix their problem. Found out from a German dealer the brakes were faulty and couldn't be fixed and that they were put on wrong by Pep Boys. Contacted store and corporate not only did I have to pay someone else to fix Pepboys negligence I also had to replace rotors due to the damage. The Manager Mr. Marcel promised to reimburse meanwhile they've not refunded me any money I've paid them or have they reimbursed me for the bad service its been 6 months going backwards and forth on something they clearly didn't know how to provide service for. The Technician Demetrius messed up my truck and tried to say it was something else. Pep Boys has systemic deficiencies regarding customer service. First, tonight I drove over thirty minutes to the Waldorf location and waited over an hour to purchase 4 tires and have them installed. Second, near closing, the GST Tech informed me that he could not install the tires because he lacked the proper equipment. Furthermore, the proper tools were locked up. Third, I was told to return tomorrow to have the work completed and the service manager ordered him to reinstall my original tires. Next, the GST Tech lowered my truck and the front passenger tire was flat; the tech failed to reinsert the valve. The customer service representative offered me a free oil change; I declined. This is not my first bad experience with Pep Boys. Within the last six months, I had a similar experience at the Marlow Heights location. I waited over three hours to purchase tires and have them installed on my other truck; in addition, I was getting a front end alignment. After the three hours, I was informed that I had to return the next day to get the alignment because the tech left for the day. Later, the manager offered me an alignment for $50.00; I declined. Please reconsider whether you should support a company that fails to provide adequate customer service; my experiences with Pep Boys have been horrible. read more

I have been a Pep Boys customer for over 50 years. My father worked for Pep Boys in the late 1970's and early 1980's so I have always looked to Pep Boys for car care but that has ended. I will no longer use Pep Boys for my auto care needs. I recently ordered Kumho tires (which were a recommended tire) for my vehicle. When I showed up for my appointment, I was told that the tires I had ordered were not in stock. I was never notified of this prior to arriving. I had already lost my morning for this appointment so in order to not have to do this again, I asked what tires they had available for my vehicle. One of the two options they had available were Cooper Adventurer tires, which would cost over $200 more than the Kumho. Rather than lose more time and have to come back, I decided on the Coopers and had them installed. Less than two weeks later those same Coopers went on sale. I feel like they did a bait and switch on me. I called to see if they would honor the sale price and was of course told "no". I feel like I have been suckered by Pep Boys. I was charged for Road Hazard Guaranty I specifically told them I didn't want. The place is fllthy but there were 5 employees and no customers in the store. The employees were all just standing around looking like they hate their jobs. If you go to this location make them go over the quote line by line. I tried calling for my refund and they pick up and immediately put the phone on hold with not a word. Whoever manages this location should be replaced. Had an appointment scheduled at 930 my car did not get looked at until 130. Manager blaming it on not knowing the schedule. When I got a call the previous day confirming the appointment. Waited 5 hours just to have them say they needed more to work on the car. The ladies up front played on their phones the whole time. Over 6 hours of waiting around and they did not 100% fix my car. I called the Manager Geno Todd this morning, because he had reached out to me, because of the bad Customer Service experience that I had previously received at this location when it was being run by idiots, and he let me know that all of the idiots had been fired, and was no longer working there, so I told him that I had gotten a flat tire coming to work this morning with the tires that I had purchased from his store in 2013. He told me to bring my truck on down and he will take care of it for me, and that's what he did.I was only there for 1 1/2, because he personally took off the spare, mounted the new tire, and put everything back together again for me. He let me know that the tire that went flat still had the Road Hazard Warranty on it, so that saved me 49.91 off the new tire. I was more than pleased with the way he took care of me, and my truck, so now I will be bringing my car to him, so that I can have two new tires replaced on it also. Lol it was funny when he let me know that he don't personally work on the vehicles since he is the Manager, but I was glad he was working on my truck, because then I knew the work was being done correctly. I bought a set of 4 tires with for $100 each. I decided to get the warranty too (worst decision ever). One tire went flat so I went to replace it and ended up paying $115 (more than the full cost of the tire). I understand labor cost, tire pressure repair kit cost, etc; but come on, I bought the warranty for that reason. A customer who buys the warranty shouldnt have had to pay more than the cost of a brand new tire in order to get it replaced. read more

To be honest I rarely go into this store, and here is why. I needed a coolant sensor for my car. I bought the last one at Pep-boys (probably explains why it went bad) for the same car. I go to the parts counter in back, tell the kid (yes kid 16 at best) the part I need. He can't find it. I give him the part number, Pep-Boys part number, and he tells me they don't sell that part. The last one I bought there must have been a dream. Anyway, with such sharp parts people working the counter, I decided to take my chances at Advance auto parts (See that review). We bought blue headlights, and we asked the employee if we could return them if we weren't satisfied, and he said yes with a receipt. Went outside, put in the headlights, and they weren't even blue, they are yellow like regular headlights. So I showed the employee who was also surprised at the completely not blue color, and told me to talk with the manager and that she "might" return them it depends on her mood (????) As I uninstalled the lights and put them in the box a heavy woman on her smoke break overheard me telling my fiance to return to them and (Clarissa??) then voluntarily comes storming over to me arguing that I'm not returning those after I installed them because she's the manager and she said so. When I explained that they are not blue she rudely accused me of lying, and I told her the other employee was just here and saw that they were normal headlights. The whole time her cigarette smoke in my face. She continued to argue with me, then walked inside and told the cashier to not let us return the headlights, and waited by the cashier until we left. At this point I wasn't even worried about the $40 I spent on normal colored headlights, but I was appalled by the disgusting way this "manager" just came storming over and portraying herself so unprofessionally. Although I did not order it, they botched what I put my truck (2003 Ram 1500) in for (overheating), they changed the oil and several other unordered services. I had to email corporate to get this sorted out. Even after that they took their time in making it correct and had to email corporate again. 8 hours after the second corporate complaint, it was finally ready. Recently I went to Pepboys in Waldorf for the first time and I must say the service was very good. When I called to set my appointment Stephon scheduled my appointment and was able to give me an accurate wait time. Brandon was the actual technician who serviced my vehicle, prior to beginning service Brandon discussed all my services and confirmed the time my car would be ready. When I returned to pick my car up, Stephon was ready to check me out and Brandon even remember that my car remote needed a new battery, he went to the store side and install the battery for me; this may seem small but with the service department being so busy that day I was impressed he remembered for me. I've been to other Pepboy locations, particularly the Hyattsville location and have had bad experiences so kudos Waldorf! read more

I went into Pep Boys after being sent over from Auto Zone to get a new battery installed. When I walked in I approached a worker who as I greeted him told me "can you go ask someone else I'm about to take my lunch break, go ask one of them in the back." I did as he told me and as I approached the men in the back they said "go over to the service desk". I then went over to what looked to me as the service desk and was greeted rudely with what are you wanting? As I explained they laughed and said you aren't in the right spot go yet to another spot in the store. I was by then really overwhelmed with their lack of kindness and helpfulness. As I finally approached what I was told was the right desk the workers just stared at me making me feel very unwelcome. I finally explained what was going on with my car and one or the workers cut me off mid sentence and said "go back to Auto Zone they can fix it." As I had already clearing stated that Auto Zone sent me to them because they could not fix it. Since I didn't know the technical terms of what was exactly wrong one went back to his phone and the other to the computer. The third worker there seeing I was clearly annoyed said "here I can take a look" and we walked to my car. He saw what was wrong and he said "yeah we can fix it but I don't know you'll have to go sit in there and see if the mechanic can do it." And left. I went back inside to try and get one of the workers to talk and again they stayed on their phone and computer. A couple came in behind me and started asking their questions which were getting answered and told they could have it fixed for them. I finally just walked out the door. I went to Southern Maryland Auto Center where I was treated amazing. The owner Zeshan, came right up to me as I was walking in and was ready to help. He quickly pulled my car around and got to work. He was done in about 20 minutes and even discounted my price! I'll be going to Southern Maryland Auto Center for all my car needs from now. read more

I say this because I called pep boys at 5:30 and they said their technician will be in at 6 and said that it would be no issue to replace the tire. When I arrived at 6:15 I'm steered away and gave me an attitude. Also when I walked in he was on the phone with I'm assuming a friend or employee that works there because he is telling him what time he's getting off work and not to mention I waited 12 minutes for him to get through talking. Just recently visited the Pep Boys in Waldorf, MD looking for rims for my mini van. Jordan was instrumental in helping me find Just the Right rims, not only that but he also helped me with the right color pin stripes too.... Excellent customer service!! A week later I showed up to purchase the van rims and again Jordan was.there to assist throughout the transaction of purchasing and getting them installed... same day...unbelievable...the new service center manager, Ken, was receptive and ensured his mechanics would get the job done in a reasonable time... They did just that! Hadn't been to Pep Boys n a while and glad I did bc the price was right for my purchase and the customer service was commendable!! It took over two hours to complete an oil change/code reading that the man at the desk said would take 45 minutes to an hour. After about an hour, I returned, and my car was in the parking lot. The same man said they were just about to start working on the car and that it take another 30 to 45 minutes. An hour later, my car was still in the exact same place and had not been worked on. I asked for my keys back. A different employee talked to the mechanic who said he could do it in about 15 minutes. The different employee also gave me 10% discount.
