I brought my truck on 1/8/2017 for the first time ever to have an oil change and tire rotation done on my 2002 Chevy S10 Pick Up. When returning home I noticed damage to the side panels in front of the rear tires. The truck was lifted by its body not by the lifting points of the truck causing body damage. That evening I emailed and called customer service with pictures and a detailed message of damage and my work order. The next morning I had to place a call into the corporate customer service line. After speaking with the agent and addressing that I want my vehicle in the same condition as it arrived she stated that the shop had up to 48 hours to get in touch with me about the claim. She also gave me permission to go to the service center and speak with the manager. I went to the store that same evening with my vehicle after work to address the manager. Arriving to the service center the manager was aware of the case and then saw the damage. The mechanic who serviced my vehicle claimed "my vehicle came in that way"...little did they know my vehicle was at another service center having a battery installed 20 mins prior and I had already spoken to that service center and they had video proof of my car not having the damage prior to the service at Pep Boys. When I proved the mechanic was lying, I was told by the manager that after reviewing the tapes of the garage on the day my vehicle was being serviced, the mechanic lifted my truck and a few moments later another mechanic came over and pointed to the EXACT spots where the damage occurred, my vehicle was lowered then raised again. I was then asked to wait till the end of the week to hear back from the manager about the claim made to the store and so he could speak with the other mechanic in the video, I never heard back from the manager. The same evening (1/9/17) I got a phone call from the corporate manager of the district and I addressed the issues I was having with how the situation was being handled and what I was told about my service. At that time I was told the situation would be handled and they would keep in contact with me so we can get this matter handled quickly at little to no additional stress to me, yet again never heard from that manager. A few nights later (1/12/17) someone just called me to follow up to state that my case was open till 1/31/17. That was the last time I heard from anyone. I had to call on 1/31/17 (2 1/2 weeks of no contact) to check on my claim. The corporate office said the manager of the store was supposed to have contacted me and given me a claim number (which he never did nor did I ever hear from since 1/9/2017). I then called the manager of the store (which has been the same manager I dealt with on the 9th) and got the claim number. Then I had to call back to the corporate office and then they wanted to transfer me to the claims department (which they did) and I had to leave a message for someone who according to message wouldn't be handling my case. After waiting I called back the corporate office and they yet again transferred me to the claims department with a different extension number and had to leave another message and still haven't received a call back. Pep Boys had 22 days to handle this professionally and try to rectify this horrible experience with me which they failed at both on a corporate level and on a store level. This was my first time ever visiting a Pep Boys location and it will forever be my last. They caused damage to my vehicle...then tried to claim I caused the damage which was false...then lead me to believe they gave a damn about fixing the situation yet their actions have spoken louder then words. I wasn't going to write a review under the impression that this was going to be handled the right way, guess they didn't care about repeat business from me. I went to pepboys because winters around the corner and I needed new tires so I bought 4 new tires and paid for wheel balancing ,wheel alignment and an oil change well after driving my car for ten minutes I noticed. The car was pulling to one side and something told me to look under the car and all I saw was something dripping from the bottom of my car so I went back to pep boys and now my car is dripping power steering fluid and my wheels were never balanced and my wheel alignment was never done .please consumers beware this place fixes one thing and breaks another I am definitely reporting this business to BBB. read more

I drove 95 miles from NYC to PA to service my vehicle, which was due for a state inspection. I recently (8-9 months ago), was given this vehicle from my parents, who had at that time just taken it to the Jeep Dealership for a service, to ensure that everything was working properly. I drove 3000 miles during that period of time. (8-9 months). I had no reason to think that it wouldn't pass. The car has been perfectly serviced since we got it, and always got Jeep replacement parts. When I went back after the 1.5hour wait period, the mechanic on duty told me that my brakes were separated from the pads, and would need replacing. As would my front and rear control arm, for a grand total of $991. I told them that there was no way that amount of work was needed, and that I would like my vehicle back to take it to my mechanic that has been working on this car since day 1. I then drove an hour to Philadelphia, had to ask to borrow a vehicle from my family while this one was going to be serviced, and then drove back to Brooklyn. $200 in gas. 6am to midnight trip. Today, I get a call from my mechanic: car passed with flying colors. Not even the brakes needed replacing. I wasted an entire day, countless hours, and plenty of time THINKING that I was going to a REPUTABLE place of business. INSTEAD, I met GREEDY, SPINELESS, LIARS!!!! I called, spoke to the manager, who of course had all the "right" things to say to cover his butt. I'm sure he has had plenty of practice, since lying and swindling people seems to be part of his job. Since I can't get my money, time or energy back, I am writing to warn all the other innocent people out there: DO NOT GO TO THIS PEP BOYS. the only reason they're even getting ONE star, is YELP *still doesn't let you post zero stars. read more

I initially gave this place 1 star. I had a really bad customer service experience while getting a headlight changed and the headlight failed by the time I got home. I hesitated to take it back but I do so much driving at night. I was greeted by an outstanding customer service rep, Jose, who immediately prioritized fixing the issue. It was like night and day from the day before. They fixed the underlying issue quickly (it was a bad socket)and gave me a discount for my bad experience from the night before. read more

They have a friendly staff, and reasonable prices. The place is a little dirty, but for a car shop I guess that's kind of expected. They told me it would be 45 minuets to an hour for an inspection and that's exactly how long it took. As long as you call and make an appointment ahead of time, you'll be good. read more

Great experience today at Pep Boys. My car was due for tires. I placed my order online (incorrectly), and the gentleman (Gabriel I think) honored the pricing that was reflected on the website. Saved the day! While turning off the turnpike for the Allentown rest stop, our tire lost air quickly and blew out. We put on the spare but knew we were to far between home and our destination. Firestone was busy, Walmart didn't pick up, local shops were closed (today was Sunday). So we called this pep boys and they were able to take us in with no wait, and in a half hour we were back on the road with a new tire. They even put the spare back underneath the van. Great service and a positive experience. read more

If there was an option for ZERO stars I would have chose it! We brought our company vehicle in for tire replacement and an alignment. What a horrible experience we had! First the website was not clear as to the additional charges for labor that was going to show up on the bill upon picking it up. They did not present us with a written estimate when dropping it off. You can imaging my frustration when I picked it up and it was about 100.00 more than the website quoted. Absolute incompetency and will never return to this location. And they broke the door handle on the drivers door as well and never let me know! I never review any business like this as a rule but this one took the cake. read more

My 1996 Dodge Caravan needed an alignment after two high-speed blowouts and a broken tire belt within the span of a year. I made the alignment appointment online. Upon arriving at Pep Boys, the manager asked why I was getting an alignment. I wanted to say "none of your business, just do it" but I hesitated and was quickly sold a diagnosis for approximately twenty dollars. (Now I was pretty sure that I had another broken tire belt but originally didn't want to get a tire yet.) The tech came out after about an hour and told me the car needed a tire so I said okay. He also told me the bushings on the front sway arm had deteriorated. I declined the 'repair' because the car was inspected six months ago and probably logged two hundred miles since then. The tech said okay and that he'd check the brakes too...which I never asked for. Later, the tech told me one of the rear wheel cylinders was completely seized. I again declined the supposed repair. Finally after three hours later (remember all I wanted was an alignment), I was released with an alignment and tire. I immediately made an appointment with my regular shop who I trust and asked for them to check the brakes and suspension. Turns out the brakes and suspension were totally fine...not a real surprise that the tech (and manager) tried to rip me off for work that was NOT needed. Of course, Pep Boys did miss the leaky water pump which did actually and really need work/replacement. Do NOT go to this shop at MacArthur Road in Whitehall. In my experience, they will sell you services that are not needed. read more

My car had been making a strange noise the past few days, so we took it to Pep to get it checked out. They said it was a fan, and kept it for the day. We were happy when they called telling us to come pick it up that night. Upon driving there to pick it up, they told us that during a routine check following the fix (which THEY performed), a radiator tube just happened to blow and told us they'd have to fix that too. After keeping the car another day, we went to pick it up. We were charged for replacement of the entire radiator (plus the other fixes) that had never shown signs of leaking or breaking previous to our bringing the car there. Not only that, but they refused to let us have the old radiator- stating that they "threw it on a pile" after removing it and it might have broken then...what, rather than when they said it did? I smell an absolute scam. read more

I set up an appointment on their website for 5:00PM for an oil change. So I showed up around 4:45PM to drop my car off and give the service associate the keys to my car. I told him to call me after it was done because I went across the street to get something to eat. He said no problem. Well it was 7:30PM and I didn't get any call. So I decided to go over thinking they are probably busy and forgot to call me. When I got back over there my car was still parked where I left it. I was already thinking in my mind they didn't get to it but still was hoping they just parked it in the same spot. I go inside and tell them I'm here to pick up my vehicle and that is when the service associate told me they didn't get to it yet and it would still be a while. He asked me if I wanted to wait and I said no. Tell me Pep Boys why do you even have an option on your website for a time slotted appointment? You guys should just say "We will get to it at some time before we close today, hopefully". At least I had a good meal. Keystone Pub across the street is amazing. I was told my inspection and 2 new tires would be 1.5 hrs and it took 3 hrs then they had to align the front tow which would take another 45 mins.. I was very patient up to that point. The one good thing was the service manager gave me a $20 discount on the alignment for my patience. read more

I went in to buy 4 new tires yesterday and I received such exceptional, competent and professional service unlike I have had at any store of any kind in a long time. Jose and Jed in the service department were awesome. These guys really know how to handle a extremely busy service department. They made it look easy and did it with a level of professionalism that I appreciated so much that I felt compelled to go out of my way to thank them. They have earned my business. Life savers! Around 4 PM on a Saturday night, we noticed a bulge in the rear car tire. We were in from out of town, and were driving back to Virginia the next day. We needed a new tire stat. Tried Walmart and Sears with no luck, apparently the Honda Fit has an odd tire size. Stopped into Pep Boys and they did not have it either, but called all the surrounding stores (Goodyear and some others) to save us a trip. When none of them had it either, they had another Pep Boys bring the tire up over night and put it on in less than 30 mins the next day so we could get on our way. We were not in a huge hurry, but had an 80 lb dog in the car and nowhere to go while we waited. Really appreciated the service and assistance. Definitely recommend. read more

Sometimes it's how the problem is handled that becomes the excellent service. Recently I visit I was told one price for a particular service and when I went to schedule an appointment I was given another price. After talking with the manager and two other employees that help me Pep Boys gave me the service at the original price quoted. Yes this means that they might lose money for this service but will continue to get my business for my cars in the future. The price to pay for now means keeping the customer happy and keeping their word. read more

Went here to have an inner bearing, both bearing races, and bearing seal put into a 4x4 front hub, brought all parts with me. Tech stated the seal I bought from napa (skf brand) did not fit the hub, they had me go to advance auto because they did not carry the timken seal. Tech then stated that my make and model truck was rarely seen at pep boys as an excuse as to why they were not capable of tapping in a bearing seal. I ordered the timken seal, its exactly the same diameter. Even showed the tech that was working with me it was exactly the same except for the metal used. Went to harbor freight, bought the bearing tool, and tapped the seal in myself in 5 mins. Techs I dealt with are not representative of the expierence I've had at other pep boys locations. Steer clear of this one if possible. read more

I just wanted to offer a very positive review for the sales staff and Manager of the Whitehall Pep Boys. I lost a lug nut for my truck and, even though they did not have one in stock, they scrambled to find one for me. I had no idea there were different lug nuts...I thought they were all the same. Within a few hours, the staff was able to locate the one I needed at a different store and have it transferred to the Whitehall store. As I need to drive my truck several hours the following day, I know this really good service enabled me to work....I would not have been able to commute and feel safe without the replacement. My husband and I were planning our first family vacation with our young child. We decided we needed a roof carrier, and decided to go to Pep Boys because they had them on sale. Trouble was, it was pouring outside when we got there. When we went in to ask about the carriers, two of the store employees showed us the differences between the two roof carriers they had in stock. They also let us pull our car into one of the service garages so they could put the carrier on our car to see what it would look like. The one we purchased looked a lot larger in the store, but on the car it was the perfect size. The employees were very helpful. It wasn't until later that we found out both the store manager (Walter) and assistant store Manager (Gilbert) were the ones who helped us. What service! We are very happy with our purchase. The carrier worked extremely well, and enabled us to better utilize our packing space. Thank you Pep Boys! read more
