I had always seen Mavis Discount Tire because it is a (6) minute walk from my house and they were always crowded which to me indicated they did good work. I had the need to take my car closer for service because my brakes were shot. Heather was friendly, welcoming, and exceptionally helpful and the pricing was very affordable. I immediately scheduled an appointment for the next day after having a conversation with Heather. I made arrangements for a 4pm pickup because they looked very busy and I just knew it would be awhile. When Heather called me to advise me my vehicle was ready at 1:30pm, I was surprisingly happy and walked back around the corner to retrieve my vehicle. I'm quite pleased with the great service, knowledgeable and friendly personnel, and quality of work. I'll definitely be going back next month for tire replacement- those prices are outstanding too! Brought my Honda to the Mavis in Thorndale, Pa, to replace a flat tire on the back left passenger side that I filled before going. Ended up buying two new Michelin tires. Unbelievable as it seems they replaced the FRONT tires instead of the back tires. They left the bad tire on the car!!!!!! I didn't realize their error and ended up the next morning with the same flat that I spent $587 to fix. I took the car back and spent almost two hours waiting for them to put one of my original tires back to replace the bad one. If they can't replace a flat tire correctly, why would you let them work on your car??????????????? Would leave less then one star if there was that option!!! read more

Appointment times are available online but when I came in they said it would be an hour and a half after the appointment was scheduled for until they could take a look at it. It makes no sense to me why they would take appointments if that doesn't mean they can see me at that time. Brought my vehicle in for TPMS change which should take an hour tops, but now will take over two hours. Poor customer service. Also, no upfront price said. read more

My wife and I had a slow leak in fairly new tires and went to Mavis. Adrian had us wait about 15 min since we weren't scheduled and had it up on a lift. He found a small nail in the passenger side rear tire, repaired it and had us on our way in another 15 minutes. I can't say enough how professional and courteous Adrian is. I rarely give reviews and this only happened a couple of hours ago, but when you come across someone doing exceptional work and going above and beyond it deserves recognition. Had an appt for an inspection today which I received several confirmation emails for including this morning. Arrived to find out the emissions machine was broken & would probably be fixed later today. Was told I should have received a phone call last night ( I didn't ) & they were sorry. No attempt to reschedule, no offer to call me when the machine was working, nothing . Just watched me pick up my things & walk out the door . I've been a customer of Mavis for 15 years but I guess my business isn't appreciated anymore. Made an appointment plenty of time in advance and then was not updated about delay in service, only looked at my car 3 hours after my scheduled appointment time. Jade was so pleasant to deal with. After checking the tires out they found that it was bent rims causing the problem. They not only straightened the rims and adjusted the tire pressure, but when I went to pick the car up, there was no charge for the work they did. Poor Service Quality - Possibly Dangerous!! Your service advisor "Keith" @ Trexlertown, PA has delivered very poor service which started on Saturday, December, 23, 2023. I set up an appointment online to have my tires balanced on 12/23/23. Keith called me to get a better idea of what service I was in need of, I explained to him what was done the previous week - a four-wheel alignment and an oil change, but today I need 2 tires that I purchased, mounted and all wheels balanced. He totally misunderstood what I said and told me 'he could not possibly get all of those services done today". I told him hold-on and lets back up, I only need my two new tires installed, and all four balanced today. He said, "ok, I'll put you on the schedule for tomorrow". Yes, he pushed my appointment to the next day. On the morning of 12/24/23 Keith called me and said he could not fit me on the schedule for the day. Telling me he made an error in the understanding the day's schedule. I told Keith that "this really sucks because I will be traveling with my family on Christmas day and that's why I need this work done". He again emphasized that he could not do it that day. I asked can you get this done if I can get there earlier, he lamented. I arrived in the early afternoon and again explained what I needed done - replace my rear tires with the new ones I have in my vehicle and balance all tires. Keith told me he will get this done sometime before we close today. I asked, oh, this is going to take a couple hours. He pointed out that they are busy. I walked to a business within the shopping center and noticed my vehicle was already being worked on. When I returned to the Mavis shop, I sat and waited for my vehicle. It was completed shortly thereafter. I paid what was due and went out to my vehicle to check the work. Here is what's surprising and what I would consider a danger to me and my family. The two new tires were mounted on the left side of my vehicle vs my request that they are mounted on the rear of my vehicle. I went back into the Trexlertown store and suddenly Keith was not around. But, the reason I decided to be a returning customer "Rylan" was available. He took a look at the issue and said he would correct the issue himself and he did! While the corrective work was being completed the store manager, whose name I didn't get, came into the customer waiting area. I asked him why would tires be rotated in such a manner? He answered "I don't know, it was a mistake". And with that answer he looked at me in such a way with a shoulder-shrug and a stare, essentially saying - what do you want me to do. 1) Mavis team, I am a mechanic and I have NEVER seen a tire rotation recommendation where new tires go on one side of a passenger vehicle. Therefore, I believe it was an intentional action which could have put My Family and I at risk during inclement weather!! 2) Your Service Advisor Keith, was focused on letting me know what he could not and would not do vs doing what he could to get the work done. They had my car for almost a full business week to do an inspection and brakes... quoted me for a solution that would have worked, but it was also $2700 more expensive than a more logical fix. Not sure if that was because they lack the ability to weld or just because they wanted to make an extra few bucks, but I can't imagine they were totally ignorant regarding the more cost effective solution - and if they were, I definitely wouldn't trust them with my car. My car was in need for a new set tires, I called several shops around the area. Most were ridiculously priced or just plain rude. Found Mavis through yelp, located the tire I needed and booked an appointment. Day prior to my appointment received a call from a live person I know imagine that! Upon arrival i gave them my name, tires were pulled and waiting for me. Honestly these guys could qualify as NASCAR pit row. I was expecting a hour to two wait as all other tire shops. We had a really bad experience with Mavis. They were replacing two tires and CV shaft. They assured me the work would be completed in the morning hours.Instead they had it for two days be cause the parts were coming from another Mavis, farther much farther away. I was left without a car for two days. And I had to call them, they did not reach out to me. Needless to say there communication is lacking. When I did receive the car it was fine, until it wasn't. The CV shaft was defective. In an effort to rectify the problem it turns out that the communication is not only poor between customers and employees. It's also poor between employees. We were told different things by different employees. The manager was rude, dismissive and unwilling to give back money for a warrantied part. Prior to the manager's refusal we were promised the money by another employee. It's been quite the run around. Learn from us... stay away from this place. There is a reason it's advertised as a discount house. I'm giving them one star for the tires they replaced and that's generous. read more

I had flat tire on Saturday evening. I had the spare put on Sunday morning and called Mavis discount tire in Trexlertown. I spoke to Keith on the phone. He said to come in. I arrived about 10. I had a rental car that had one tire with low pressure, and the free air was exactly what I needed. What a waste of time! I made an appointment for an oil change a day in advance after seeing a long line at the Valvoline quick change that was right nearby. So, I check in and start catching up on my emails. Fifteen minutes later, my car was still in the lot, and I was a bit annoyed. Then another fifteen minutes passed, and seeing that my car was still sitting in the lot, I asked when my car would be going in and the lady said, "there are still two people ahead of you." I said that I might as well go to the Valvoline instead, and she replied, "please go ahead then" and she went back to get my keys. As I was leaving, now forty minutes after my appointment, a woman came to the counter indicating that she, too, was tired of waiting for two hours, and was also leaving. Had a tire warning come on.  Tried to resolve myself at an air station.  Getting very low readings.  Decided to go to Mavis to check it out.  Incredibly courteous service.  They took time to remove all tires check them, inflate.  Even checked brakes, battery while at it.  Reset warning light.  All good - no charge!  Incredible follow up service to tires I had had them put on 6 months ago.  Again the person taking my info, checking me in, they are the face of the company,  did it extremely well, helpful, informative, kept me updated while I waited.  Can't say enough good things for a simple thing well taken care of. read more

I purchased the light bulb from auto Zone but did not know how to replace it .. drove by Mavis asked the manager if he can help me he told me to wait 5 minutes in my car when he came out he changed my bulb when I asked how much he said no worries you had you light bulb all I did was replace it ! Nail in the tire! Tried to plug but need a new tire!! Our tires and warranty were through Walmart but after 30 minutes on hold a 3 different people that didn't know anything, we said screw it. My husband needs to go to work tomorrow. I understand covid hesitations but car maintenance is a necessity! We googled what was close and Mavis popped up. It was late in the day, but they took care of us. Jose was amazing!! Customer service at its finest. If I could give more then 5 stars I would. He worked hard taking care of everyone and still took care of us in a timely manner. I make an appointment for my fleet vehicle for brake check and tire rotation. when I arrived they didn't have my appointment on the schedule. Then I told them if there was an issue with the fleet approval to contact me as I was leaving the truck for the day. I waited for 7 hours and no one called to say the truck was finished. I arrived to check and they said they were still waiting for the approval. I checked with my fleet supervisor and he said they never submitted the request. so they lied about the request. When I got there the man at the counter told me there would be a 1 HOUR wait, and they would call. I could also hear the guys in the back screaming and cursing a storm very obnoxiously. I took my vehicle here with a mid day appointment for emission and safety inspection. Upon arrival, clerk asked me if I could leave my vehicle. I was planning on waiting but asked if it makes it easier for their schedule I could leave. He said he would appreciate it and will give me a call when it's ready. I asked what time they close and he said 5pm. He gives me a call at 4:50pm and asks if I can leave my car until the morning. Luckily I'm already on my way there and actually have an option to pick it up. On the call I asked him if they even started it yet and just not finished and his answer was no. So as I pull in 5 min to their closing time, my car is still where I parked and not touched. I understand things can go wrong with manual labor, I'm willing to listen to what they have to say and consider leaving it until the morning. When I walked into office, another lady asked what I needed and the person gave me the call was on the phone and handed over the file to this lady, didn't even bother to apologize. At that point lady tells me the state of PA only allows them 2 inspections per day. Then I asked why did they give me an appointment, she says I need to ask that to the call center. I think they need to ask that to their call center as I take my business elsewhere. It's such a disrespect to everyones time. While they hang their hourly cost with bold font behind the counter, they act like it's only theirs that has value and not my 4 hours on Saturday on memorial weekend. I purchased a truck a few months back and found out I inherited a low tire pressure light problem; I was losing approximately 3-6 pounds of air every two days. I would have to fill the tires back up to 40lbs before leaving for work. i made an appointment with Mavis tire in Trexlertown Pa. Days later, I show up for my appointment and they tell me that their shop is over booked with walk-ins and could I leave the vehicle. I was unable to do that because I left work early to make my appointment and didn't have a ride, so I waited. I told them the issues I was having, and they told me they would locate the problem. I told them, if it was the tires, they have my consent to replace them. I chose the tire I wanted, if that was the problem and they got to work. After waiting two plus hours, they said they installed the two new tires, and I was ready to go. I completed payment and paperwork and off I went. I got in my truck to leave, and the low tire pressure gauge was blinking, and it was showing the two new front tires were well below the required air pressure. I went back in the store, and they told me this was common with my truck, drive it and the computer would reset. I got my truck home; light went off and I thought everything was fine. Next day I leave for work and the tire on my passenger side is 6 pounds low of air and that beautiful low tire pressure gauge light is on again. I have had the new tires on for 3 plus weeks now, and every two days, I have to fill the tires with my compressor at home before I leave for work. I contacted a wheel company and a dealership, told them what happened, and they said it sounds like the tires are not sealing on the rim and I possibly need new rims and there was probably nothing wrong with the tires I had on my truck before Mavis installed two new tires for $756.00. Now I am in the process of purchasing new rims and I am having trouble because I don't want to buy new tires with the rims. I spent $756.00 a few weeks back at mavis and I don't just want to throw those tires out. This was a long review but here is the way I feel. Car dealerships are expensive to get work done on your vehicle and their schedules are always filled. The reason for this is, even though they are expensive, the work completed is almost always done correctly. Mavis tire has employees working there that are not trained properly and more importantly, have zero pride in what they do for a living. In a world where customer service is at an all-time low, no matter where you go or what your purchasing, I guess this situation is just par for the course. I am from out of state and in Allentown for work and came out after a long shift at work to a flat tire! It was 4pm on a Saturday, I called several local tire shops and had no luck getting into a shop my last call was to Mavis and they said hurry in and they will see what they can do. They jumped right into my car they found the tire was leaking slightly around the bead so the fixed that up for me. I am impressed with the customer service and quality of work I received at Mavis, the service manager was very knowledgeable and extremely personable I can't say enough about this place!!! I brought my car in for a simple oil change at 1:30. I had called ahead to make sure there was availability and was given an order code to help make sure I get my car in as soon as possible. After no word from anyone for three hours, I called to check on the status of my car. I was told that they were almost done working on my car, and that I could come in before close to pick up my car. At 5:30 I went in to get my car, that was still in the same spot I left it in the parking lot. Then an employee told me that it would be another 20 minutes. After waiting 25 minutes they still hadn't even touched my car and the store was closing in five minutes. At that point I figured it would just be easier to go somewhere else, so I went in and asked for my key back. It wasn't until I asked that they actually confirmed that they were going to work on my car. While checking out I was charged almost $50 when I was quoted at $35 over the phone. Then the cashier gave me the incorrect amount of change and couldn't remember how much he owed me, in an attempt to "make it right" they offered me $10 off my next oil change.
