Made an appt to have 4 tires put on my car, got to the store for my 11:00 appt. Was given price over the phone but when I got to store was given a different price (higher than was told) but was told there are charges that weren't mentioned over phone. So, I waited until 12:30 in waiting area, no ody kept me informed of what was going on, I walked outside and my car had not even been taken in the garage yet. I demanded my keys and left. I recently had a full synthetic oil change on two of my vehicles. they did an excellent job on the first one. When they started the second vehicle, they had stopped and contacted me and said that I had plenty of milage left before the next oil change and that I did not need an oil change. After confirming that I checked with the technician (Thomas) he said that he checked the oil and it was clean and good, so no service was performed saving me the price of the oil change. Now they could have changed the oil and I would not be the wiser. but they were up front with me and saved me an unneccesary cost.... Many Thanks!!!! read more

I pre-scheduled a 8:00AM appointment for oil change and car inspection. Dropped off my car day before. Called at 11:30AM for update was told my car was next. 2:35PM called again was told they were just taking my car in now. No call to 4:24PM saying my car was done. Paperwork doesn't have my correct address or make of my car and was charged for emissions when I was under 5,000 miles. Came in at 9:30am for inspection sticker. It's was 11:15 when they told me they found "issues" at it was going to cost $600 or i won't pass inspection. I told fine whatever, it's 12:22 and they are still "working" on it. My car always passed inspection but this time at this place it failed inspection. My truck had what seemed like a stuck throttle and couldn't go into gear and would turn itself off after being in that "full throttle mode" after a few seconds. After being towed to Pep Boys, I encountered AJ. He is the right person...in the right position to meet when you're having car problems. Extremely professional, very reassuring to customers (who think their day is ruined). Thank you AJ! And Tim. This man made my day!! He is a true professional! After a 20 minute evaluation, Tim located the problem (which was not a problem) and did not make this "non-mechanic" uncomfortable with his findings. Thank you Tim! In today's world, you don't find true service like I experienced ...my heartfelt thanks to these gentleman and I hope that other people can and should experience this great service that they provide. We got in a car accident and had a 3 hour drive home ahead of us. For peace of mind, we called and requested for them to check and make sure our vehicle was okay to make the drive. The staff was incredibly nice and generous. They allowed us to look at our vehicle while it was lifted up as well and ask questions. Could not recommend this place more, I am so grateful for this experience and their ability to squeeze us in an hour before they closed on a Sunday - in the middle of appointments. I put up a one because it doesn't let you put up a zero. I called them up and asked them if they could patch a tire. The answer was yes and it would take 20 to 30 mins They had 5 out of 8 bays open. I went across the street to Sheetz and got something to eat and could see the car from there and 1 hour later it was still there. My wife went over and was going to ask if we could take the car and bring it back with another car.so we could go somewhere and come back and get it later so when she said "would it be ok if we take our car" the GOOBER didn't even let her finish and said ok and gave her the keys so she just left. Do not recommend. They took two hours to complete an oil change, for which I had an appt. When I got into my car, the maintenance light was still on. I went back in and told them that my light was still on. The employee assigned to my car went back out to reset the light, but had to return, loudly complaining that his phone died, so he couldn't watch the correct YouTube video. He has not returned. Incredible service and amazing staff! We were traveling from CT to Hanover PA on Thanksgiving Eve. Stopped for dinner at Chick-fil-A and when we got back in the car our battery and brake lights were on. Brought it to the closet place which happened to be Pep boys. The clerk was dealing with another couple and then kindly greeted us. Julian H helped us getting our car in quickly for a diagnostic test. He was so kind and helpful giving us many options if we had to leave our car. They found it needed an alternator and they were able to replace the battery and alternator all before close at 8. They went over and beyond to get us back on the road without further expenses!!! So grateful for their kindness and amazing service!!! Thank you Julian H. and all others that worked on our car!!! I like their prices but the mechanics are slow. It took almost 3 hours to install my tires? I had an appointment and I was early. Good thing they have internet, so I watched a movie while waiting. I had to talk to the " parts manager" who couldn't do anything, the retail manager who refused to do anything, and finally the area director who finally gave some good customer service. But the fact I had to spend days and speak with so many people about the issue was ridiculous!!! I will never buy anything there again. read more

Ordered a replacement battery and and scheduled a replacement time on line! Appointment was for 3:00 PM! Showed up at 2:45 PM! Told the service manager what needed to be completed! He then told me that an appointment only guaranteed that no walk-ins would be ahead of me! OK 1:45 hours later I walked in and my car was not touched! I went in to complain and suddenly Walter said "Your Car is up next!" WTH! Finally after 2.5 hours, I was on my way! WHAT A JOKE! Our battery died in the Walmart parking lot. After getting a jump, we went over to Pep Boys. They were so quick to take us in on an unexpected stop. As we were waiting for the battery to be changed, the staff created a very friendly environment for us. While the last thing we wanted to be doing was wait an hour in a car shop on a Saturday evening, that ended up being one of the best parts of our day! We had such friendly, interesting conversation with the staff. They had us laughing the whole time! The parts store part is adequately stocked with the regular stuff. If compared to Advance Auto down the road, Pep Boys is overpriced though. They also don't adequately staff the parts counter and register areas. Their focus is obviously on the vehicle service department. read more

Travelling back to Canada and I had problems on the road on a Sunday. I called in and said I would reach them in about 2 hours. All seemed OK to take me when I arrived; however by the time I got there they had become very busy....and were not sure they would get to me before they closed. Take a sleeping bag because you'll end up spending the night. Got to the store at 8:30 for an oil change and tires. At check in was told I was looking at 2-2.5 hours, none the less I decided to wait and take care of some business on my computer. At about 11:00 I inquired on the progress. 15 minutes later I was told the oil change was done and they were just getting set to look at the tires. When I questioned it taking three hours for an oil change I was told that it was taking so long because I didn't have an appointment. I questioned the four customers that came and left after I arrived and the response was that they all had appointments. He proceeded to pull out the service tickets from the day and one of the service tickets was from an employee that was having work done on his car! I took my car down the road to Jack Williams and was in and out in 40 minutes...no appointment. I use to take all my business to Pep Boys but they've lost a loyal customer today. Also...they had me checked in at 9:07 on the paperwork but I have email time stamped at 8:38 so they had me checked in at least a half hour after I got there. Not sure if they get judged on their in out time but they tried to make it look like it took less time than in actually did. read more

I bought a car in MA and drove it home to Phoenix. Needed the AC charged. Thought I would do it at dinner while in Wilkes-Barre. Called on Tuesday and asked if they could do it; was told yes if I was there before 6 since it's a two hour job. I said I would see them Friday. I get there Friday, after driving 300 miles, at 5:30pm, and ask for the AC charge. Suddenly they can't do it. They asked if I made an appointment. No one told me I needed to; the chat on Tuesday would have been a good time to suggest I make one. So they refused a $200 job that I called in advance for. WB PA service manager Darren is a poor example of customer service for Pep Boys, a place I had come to trust. Wish there was a way to give zero stars. read more

We would give them 10 stars if we could! Had a wonderful experience with Jim, Pat, Catherine, and Walt at the Wilkes Barre Pep Boys this weekend. They are lifesavers! We had our vehicle serviced at another Pep Boys in S. New Jersey twice last week, the last time to replace the fuel pump. We were leaving for a long weekend trip to Niagara Falls. When we picked up the vehicle from the South Jersey Pep Boys Friday and drove it home to load it we noticed the car smelled like gas so we called the local Pep Boys that had just serviced it and were told that was probably gas that spilled when the gas tank was being replaced after the pump was replaced. We started our drive to Canada on Friday and had to stop in Wilkes Barre, PA for gas at 8:30 on Friday night. When we pumped gas into the car it spilled out all over the pavement at the gas station. We immediately called the Pep Boys in Wilkes Barre and told them our situation. The store closes at 9:00 but Pat told us they would be waiting for us if we could get the car there. We arrived at 8:50 and Pat, Catherine and Jim all stayed well past 9:00 to analyze the problem, call the South Jersey store that had worked on it the previous day and figure out what needed to be done to repair it. After determining a faulty seal had been placed on the gas tank when it was replaced by the other store and that the vehicle was not safe to drive, Jim offered to drive my family of five and our luggage to the hotel where we luckily had found a room. As he dropped us off he promised to call us in the morning and let us know if they had the parts to repair the seal so we could continue our trip. Not only did they repair our car, they delivered it to the hotel and refused to take any money for their efforts simply saying they always try to do the right thing. They sure do! And they restored our faith in humanity! My only regret is that I don't live closer to Wilkes Barre so I could have my car serviced there regularly! There was good and Bad about my experience at Pep Boys in Wilkes-barre. Most of the staff was very helpful and friendly except two people which seemed more interested in chitchatting then helping a customer. To my surprise one of these employees turned out to be the manager Krystal. I couldn't believe how rude she was when I asked for help she basically ignored me and then when I asked for help again she said she was too busy and then continuing her conversation with her other employee I believe her name was Sara. I was extremely disappointed and this isn't an isolated problem with this manager. She has been rude before to the point that I have walked out of the store and went down the road to Advance Auto Parts and paid more for the part just so I didn't have to deal with this manager. I don't have problems with any of the other managers including Carmine, Herb, or Frank or your wonderful staff. So if you see Krystal and you can wait come back another day when shes not there. read more
