We ordered a chili relleno burger and then the beef fajitas with a chili relleno on the side and it came out to $36 which is a good price . We didn't tip because it was a walk up food truck and we didn't get drinks . We kinda felt bad but it was a food truck. The beef in the fajitas were rotten . Like you could taste it . We've eaten there before and it was great . I'm thinking the rotten beef was because we didn't tip. The cook came out and took a break and kept staring while I was eating . So if you decide to eat there be sure to tip otherwise you'll be with your head in a toilet bowl by the time you get home!! read more

If you're in Hatch, you MUST try Pepe's! We stopped here based on others' reviews and were soooo glad we did. Hubs had their green chile cheeseburger and immediately declared it the best one he'd ever eaten, and trust me - he's eaten a LOT. The fries that came with it were plain but perfectly cooked. They could've used a bit more salt but that's easily remedied to personal preference. I tried the chile relleno burrito and lord help me, I swear it was heaven wrapped in a tortilla. It was THAT good. Two chile rellenos and refried beans...why haven't I ever thought of doing this?!? The one negative was the porta potty they had for a restroom, but let me tell you - it was the cleanest one I've ever been in. The sink is inside the restaurant. The ambiance is old fashioned casual, and everything was immaculate. The service was wonderful, especially considering we were there right as they opened. Overall, we loved Pepe's so much we'd happily make a side trip to Hatch to eat here again. Try it! I'm betting you'll love it! read more

Ordered the green chile cheeseburger and carne asada burrito-both excellent. Clean place open after 3pm when seems like most places close down until dinner service. So was a nice unexpected surprise for lunch when our original plan did not work out due to the original place being closed when we got to Hatch. read more

I guess their friends are posting reviews, we just had an ok, but far from great, green chile cheeseburger here. Clearly a store-bought frozen patty, and jarred green chile. $13! However they were very nice and the place was spotless. read more

Man. If you love chiles, Mexican, or just delicious food period. STOP HERE! We tried the hatch Chile burger- ugh! Man! It was just the right amount of spicy and juicy and glorious. We also tried the asada tacos. The meat was tender, seasoned well, and just as good! The tortilla were handmade y'all. Like what?! To drink we ordered the fresh aguas: Jamaica and lemonade . They were just the right amount to sweet to counter the spicy and savory of the food. The down: the fries were kinda plain- fixed them up with ketchup and tons of salt. I'm sure they are great with their loaded fries options like : carne aside fries and hot Cheeto fries but as a side with the extremely flavorful burger they fell a little short. Also! Oh my! This Mexican food was great! We ordered the Green chili cheeseburger and the Birria tacos. The green chili made this big cheeseburger pop! The Birria tocos were crispy and loaded with meat and cheese. Of course all the chilis are sourced locally from the family farm. The service was good, they served chips and homemade salsa to the table while the food was prepared. Pepe's Cocina is a food truck converted into a restaurant and comfortable inside. Visited Pepe's Cocina while touring the Hatch Chili Festival in September. We HIT THE JACKPOT with this place! Right now, I am craving some of their green chili stew. They serve it in a tall quart container: beans in the bottom, chili on top and issue a long-handled spoon and a warm tortilla. Sooooo delicious! My husband had the pork stomach tacos and the pork intestine tacos--and loved them as well. Very nice people and a great experience. Great food at a great price. read more

This place was a little difficult to find as the town has no internet service for GPS. It is actually just outside the city limit sign on Hwy 26 on the west side of town. Was very clean and friendly. I had the nachos which were absolutely delicious, which now rate in the top three of all nachos I've ever had. My partner had a beef burrito which, again, was outstanding! We almost drove past Pepe's. Glad we stopped on our way through town. Patio seating was just what the 75 degree sunset ordered. I ordered a quesadilla. Hubby ordered beef street tacos. My wife and I stumbled into Pepper Pot restaurant in Hatch , New Mexico while picking our green Chile for the year. What a find! This is a New Mexican restaurant was exceptional. My wife ordered the red enchiladas plate and it was a five star. I realize I am in NM and there are a lot of great places that serve amazing enchiladas. This place is really fantastic. Very balance Chile sauce but with bold taste. Very good choice. I had a combination plate. This allowed me to taste a little of everything. Well, the tacos were truly a five star. My wife took a bite out of one of my tacos and we became kids at a cafeteria negotiating for BITES (old school kids code). The rice was very tasty and the beans certainly didn't disappoint. Service was charming and very sweet. Technology for paying is a decade behind or maybe it was slow because of the large crowd. We have been back a few more times and the quality has been the same, exceptional. read more

Driving through Hatch on way from AZ to CO. Saw the bright yellow truck on the far West edge of town and decided to give it a try. Nice covered patio with picnic tables and super friendly staff. I had two street (Carne Asada and El Pastor) tacos, and my partner had a Burrito California which was huge. Food was delicious and perfect amount to fill us. We will definitely pass by the long line at Sparky's every time and come here instead. Looking forward to next February on our way through town! read more

Solid Mexican food, no frills but well done. I had a carne asada burrito without the sour cream. It was loaded with meat and fresh pick de gallo. That's it. It was tasty with the red hot sauce and well seasoned. The seating is outdoors and cars can park right up to the eating deck. My only complaint and the reason for not getting four stars is the car running right next to me while I was eating. read more

I've lived in New Mexico my entire 53 year life, and have ate at almost every restaurant here. This is by far the best green chili cheese burger I have ever eaten. A must try for anyone coming any where near the famous Hatch, NM!!! read more
