Churros! We came across this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. They have so many unique menu items. Everything from tacos and quesadillas to ice cream and smoothies. They have pictures and descriptions on almost of their menu items that is very helpful. Tried the quesadilla and it was fresh and good. The elote was a bit spicy. The churros were amazing. We decided to try this new joint that has been getting great reviews on facebook community for Huber. The place is located in the strip mall, and tucked in the back. It is easy to miss, but don't let that fool you. The inside is absolutely bright and clean, and they have decals on the wall of the food they serve! They have an ice cream, pastries, smoothies, slushies, cake and flan... the list goes on! The people inside were super nice, and helpful to guide us in the ordering being out first time there. Oh my my! I have been looking for an authentic Mexican restaurant like this (outside of Fl that is!) The tamales were on point and the empanadas and burritos were delicious! I got the fried plantains, which are hard to find around here, and they are so good! Everyone here was kind and helpful, they also have ice cream and Mexican baked goods. My son ended his meal with a funnel cake!l, which was also very good. I am so glad that the Thai place next door ignored us so we ended up here! The people here are very friendly and make your experience great. I ordered a carne asada torta and a tres leches cake which resulted in $16.00. I personally think it's a little pricey for both items. Torta was good, cold but still tasty no complaints plus the presentation was good, hence no picture of it I bought the tres leches cake originally for my son but I also nibbled on it only to bite down on egg shells still in the cake! The flavor was okay, I definitely have tasted better and there was barely any icing on it which was disappointing and no real cherry just a blob of cherry syrup. I went to this restaurant today. I usually get takeaway from here. Sometimes I prefer to sit down and eat if I have time. First I politely asked if I could use the restroom to wash my hands. After all, you have to wash your hands before eating. Then I was going to take my food and leave. They said something rude and strange, that it was only for customers. I was surprised, the staff was extremely rude and discourteous. If you can't remember your regular customers, that's your problem. I found that rude. I would never recommend eating at a place where these rude people work. People like that don't need to make money. Let's say you can't remember your old customers. The wife had the Friday off so she and I decided to try Pepe's Mexican Flavors for a late lunch/early dinner since it was new to us and, hopefully, different. Seemingly like most independent, family-owned restaurants, Pepe's Mexican Flavors was located in a non-descript strip mall. It was easy to find announced in big, bright letters by its signage over the door alongside several other restaurants located nearby that represented a surprisingly wide array of cuisines. Pepe's specialized in Mexican street food in a fast-casual sit-down environment. The dining room was bright, colorful interior with pictures of the various food and drink offerings adorning its walls. We placed our order at the counter. I had a chicken empanada ($3.50), a pork tamale ($1.90), elote ($3.50), and an apple churro (?). With both of our orders combined, we still only scratched the surface of Pepe's selection of offerings. My chicken empanada was good sized with a generous quantity of fillings. It was a tasty, fresh, and colorful dish. My tamale arrived hot and wrapped in a corn husk. While flavorful, it was a little dry perhaps from being in the covered steam tray for longer than optimal rather than freshly made. It was good, but not as good as I'm sure it would've been had we arrived earlier in their lunch service. My elote, on the other hand, was spot on. I received a full ear of fresh corn on the cob slathered with mayo and covered with cotija cheese and dusted with chili powder and served on a stick. It was messy, but delicious. My churro was, perhaps, my favorite item. It was made fresh, not when we ordered, but rather when we finished our savory dishes. It arrived at our table hot and fresh. It was perfectly fried, crispy on the outside, but still moist and steamy on the inside partially attributable to its apple filling. It was the perfect end to our street food feast. It all worked out to around $11. I felt I received very good value. Pepe's Mexican Flavors lived up to its promise of delivering authentic Mexican flavors. It also lived up to the promise of being something completely different and better than the standard Tex-Mex or Taco Bell, Chipotle, etc. crap foisted on the good people of the Dayton metro area as Mexican food. This little gem is worth going to Huber for. There is an amazing selection of ice creams, popsicles and pastries. We had all four flavors of churro (strawberry, caramel, apple and plain) and each one was delish, I would recommend going for the filled versions, but it is for sure a matter of personal preference, the plain was still amazing. We also got a mangonada and it is so addicting and delicious. Sweet and salty and tangy. It is enough to serve at least two people though and the fresh mango they put on top wasn't quite ripe. The workers were all friendly and helpful. Parking is very easy in that area, especially after 5 as most of the businesses around it close. Overall a great experience. read more

Think Chipotle, but REAL Mexican food. And frozen treats!!! We got elotes, which is Mexican street corn. They have it two ways, on the (cob) stick and in a cup. It's topped with mayo, cheese, lime and chili powder. We also got tamales, an empanada and a gordita. All were great. The tamales have a little heat, which I expected. I was simply overwhelmed! There was so much I wanted to try, and I didn't even have time to look at all the frozen treats! I saw they had CHURROS in 4 flavors, apple, strawberry, caramel and plain. When it came out I knew I was in love. Fresh and piping hot from the fryer, perfection. I couldn't believe they weren't on Yelp! So I decided they would be and took lots of pics! We ordered: carne asada burrito-got ground beef instead Supreme french fries with steak-got ground beef instead Menudo had 0 white corn/hominy in it and took a long time ordered SIX TAMALES, 3 chicken, 3 pork a horchata and a jarrito elotes in a cup ALL IN SPANISH. I speak Spanish fluently and the lady refused to acknowledge me-okay that's fine speak back to me in English but speak to everyone else in Spanish ??? tamales took an hour and a half and at first, we were willing to wait because those were to-go anyway. Then two people came in, a white woman and a Mexican man, the woman wanted tamales and they told her it would be a wait. They served her a tamale first!!!!!!!!!!!!! and then told me mine were ready. She packed FOUR. Charged me for SIX-I ordered SIX. I get that it's less than $5, but if you made that mistake shouldn't you fix it? I even tipped over 20%. I got home and saw she only gave me four tamales, I called back, spoke in FLUENT Spanish about the situation that had happened-she told me to come back and pick up more tamales up I drive all the way back, she had a box of SIX tamales ready to go on the counter but is helping other customers speaking to everyone else in Spanish. I told her the situation AGAIN in FLUENT SPANISH. She plays dumb and speaks to me in broken English, gets mad at me, tells me to pay for the tamales. I say NO. You only gave me 4 and then charged me for 6. This woman was insanely rude and I honestly don't think I can come back after what happened. No apology, no trying to fix it, she literally tried to charge me for more. Like are you serious??? They also don't wipe down any tables or clean anything here FYI for everyone trying to dine in. This has been my favorite restaraunt since moving to Huber Heights two and a half years ago. The food is soooo deliscious, and so reasonably priced. I had a party for my children, and grandchildren before my little granddaughter had to have a major heart surgery. The owner and her staff were awesome to us. I had told them ahead of time and they were so accomidating. They made it a very memorable occassion for all of us. They even had a cake prepared for us with my Grandaughters name on it. Sometimes they get a little swamped, but they hustle and make everything fresh. It's always very worth it! My favorite is the Empanads, my husband is in love with the Burritos.
