I"m a pepper. I see a few reviews from other guys and gals that have come here. Well, he's a pepper, she's a pepper, we're a pepper. Wouldn't you like to be a pepper too? Is that too corny? Bonus point if you know what the above reference is to. I tried it. It's A-OK. Cafeteria style sit down restaurant. Order up front from a board menu, pay, then sit down. The food comes to you on a sizzling hotplate to cook your food. Overall impressions, not bad at all. I had the hamburger steak with egg. Pretty good tasting. Can't vouch for the other food at my table, but I did enjoy what I had. Would I come here again? Likely

The "fast-steak" restaurant franchise finally arrived to Vancouver early this year. If you want a healthier meal than McDonald's or KFC, this is good try Pepper Lunch! It would be better quality fast food restaurant for you.. It located on No. 3 Road & Westminster Hwy (London Plaza Mall). You need to order your meal at the cashier, get a number and they severed you in designated table to server you the meal. You'll find your favorite meal on a hot sizzling plate with rice and beef in voilà! I ordered 8oz ribeye steak $29.95 for lunch. The steak quality was good or better than a lot HK style café if compared with the price. The staffs were freidnly and a bit expenseive to pay $30 for steak fast food at Richmond.

Hubby and i came here for a late dinner one night. We ordered the wagyu beef pepper fried rice with egg which was really good! We got the split dumplings (half chicken half pork) the skin was nice a crispy. Hubby got a small steak to try. This restaurant is very similar to Ikinari Steak in nyc! The food was good and pretty affordable priced.

As one of the reviewers said, there aren't too many vegetarian options available. I came in recently for the second time with friends. I ordered the mushroom and tofu with rice. I don't think it was worth almost $10 for what I got. I think it'd be better if I cooked this myself at home. They may need a good ventilation system as there is a strong food smell right when you walk in and it'll stay on your clothes till wash.

I love Pepper Lunch, it has lots of options for your hot plate meal and delicious sauces you can splurge onto it. I had a chance to revisit this place as it was on my way to the bank. How I'll be hooked onto this for the rest of my Richmond trips. I ordered the beef pepper rice, which I doused a liberal amount of sauces before mixing it all together. I like how I can control how my meal is, managing how crispy my rice is and how flavorful it will be. I came around 3pm so it wasn't busy at all. If you're a fan of hot plates, come give this a try. I was able to leave with a clean plate and a full stomach.

This is a great and convenient place to pop in for a quick lunch or dinner! You order at the counter and just wait for your food, and grab a spot to sit. Food was delicious and affordable. The manager walked over to us to make sure we were enjoying our meals... a service that I really appreciated. I'll be going back for sure.

We went twice as the first time we went was crazy hectic and grand opening so we thought we'd give them the benefit of the doubt.. FIRST VISIT: Seen a line outside the door and people were crammed like sardines in a can. Everyone was confused but thank gawd the girls in front of us told us pass everyone in the line and get our names written down. So after 35 min wait, we were called and placed our order and paid first.. I guess no Dine and Dash?? Ordered beef pepper rice $8.95 and $1.50 extra for egg and $1.50 for mashed potatoes. My bf ordered extra beef pepper rice with additional egg and purchased the combo which was $2.00 extra that comes with bland miso soup and soda with 1 refill ONLY. DO NOT order the mashed potatoes.. Waste of $1.50. Was fun experience cause was new style but after we left, we were still hungry!!! SECOND VISIT: BF was craving fried rice and it was almost week and half since grand opening so we thought lets go for lunch. This time I got Pepper beef hamburger steak and he got extra beef pepper rice. Ordered extra egg $1.50 x 2 and he got a drink $2. Noticed after 1.5 weeks the combo price has increased to $2.75. So we skipped it. Basically came out to $29 including tip. Once again cool concept but we've decided that for the amount we paid, we could of gotten our own ingredients and made crazy ass fried rice for cheaper. Service is 3/5 Food 3.5/5 Cleanliness 3.5/5 Parking 1/5 WARZONE!!! We ended up hungrier than ever so we went to beard papas and got some cream puffs.. If we're in area we might stop by but other than that for the price, amount and quality, rather go elsewhere in Richmond as there so many cheaper eating establishments!

It's been awhile since I've been back to this location. The original Pepper Lunch that started it all in Canada. They've come a long ways since their introduction into this country. A much more extensive menu featuring more cuts of meats and more vegetarian options. Of course you still have to remember that the food here all has to have a certain theme. That is the sizzling hot plate and the quick and efficient serving from ordering to table service. It has to be fast. Tonight I had the mushroom burger made for. Shimeji mushrooms. It was tasty. A bit in the thin side, but tasted good nonetheless. I do think if it was a bit thicker it would be juicier and more presentable. For a vegetarian option, I'm glad that this is available. They also have Kimchi that they make in-house. Tangy, slightly spicy and some some vinegary notes I could taste. It was like a fresh Kimchi. Good to go with any beef pairings. I like the fact that they have this side dish available now. Why not add a bit of spice to your Pepper Lunch! Besides it also a good probiotic for your digestion and it's vegetarian too. If you want seafood, there is the Hokkaido Scallops with Pasta. If you want the scallops but don't want the pasta but want rice instead, just ask to change up the carbs. Remember you can always change things up here by adding other sides. Add extra bean sprouts or Kimchi or a fried egg. Pepper Lunch can accommodate you.

Pepper lunch is absolutely delicious! I don't see many of these in the U.S., and the last time I ate here was in Taiwan, so I'm glad I could revisit this place. Their food is really unique in that it comes out on this hot cast iron skillet, and the food cooks at the table. It's suuuuuper satisfying to hear the sizzling of the skillet, and it smells sooo good. They also offer add-ons like egg, cheese, corn, and kimchi (I hear the egg + cheese combo is really popular). I got the curry pork pepper rice with no add-ons. The rice is so delicious after it's seasoned with pepper and is slightly charred from the skillet, and the corn pairs wonderfully with the rice and the meat. The curry was really good and added some great flavor to the pork. It can get a little greasy, but it's so worth it. Service here is also really fast, and the restaurant itself is very clean and family friendly. The staff were really nice and friendly, and welcomed us as we came in. I wish I could find one of these back home!

My date and I stopped by here for dinner. My date ordered the Wagyu beef pepper rice ($14.95) and I ordered the curry beef pepper rice ($10.95). We made our food a combo for an extra $2.75 each for a drink and miso soup. Food arrived fairly quickly. There is a paper sleeve around the plate with instructions. Drinks had free refills. The miso soup was piping hot. The food was alright. It tasted decent but not amazing. The Wagyu is tender but I have also eaten top grade Wagyu steak and compared to that, I would pay the extra money on the steak. I found the portion was on the smaller side for the amount of meat we get relative to price. The rice is the filling part with the corn. Service was good. Staff were doing rounds refilling drinks and checking up on staff. I think it is good to try once or stop by on the days when there are specials.

Sizzle sizzle sizzle!! The Pepper Lunch chain has finally arrived in Canada. With its first location in Canada in Richmond, this is sure going to be a popular spot. Keep in mind that parking within the London Drugs plaza may be a bit difficult. The shop isn't too big, with seating for around 40 people. We came on a Monday around lunchtime, and it was almost at capacity. You order up front, which can be quite intimidating because they have a lot of different choices and combinations, and sometimes it's hard to read from just a screen on the wall. Being a first timer, I decided to have their signature Beef Pepper Rice, with extra beef. You have the option of making it a combo for an extra $1.50 with miso soup and a drink. We were then given a number which corresponds to a pre-designated table. Water is served at your table. Within minutes, our food arrived. I noticed that mine only had 8 slices of beef, and had to wonder if it was really 'extra' beef. When I inquired, they did indeed say that it was a regular sized one and exchanged a extra beef one for me. 2 sauces are also available, a honey based sauce, or a garlic soy sauce. I prefer the honey sauce. Then comes the 'fun' part, where you mix everything together. The end result is a tasty mix of beef, pepper, corn and green onions within grains of rice. I like that the hot plate kept the whole dish hot, and allowed some of the rice to be a bit crispy. At $11, my lunch was filling and tasty. There's some other items that I would like to try, such as their hamburger patty. PS. You will end up smelling like your lunch afterwards.

When you enter, this is the selection, choose wisely!

The staffs/owner were very friendly and made great recommendations. Had the hamachi carpaccio, so refreshing and appetizing. The homemade ponzu (lemony) sauce has a nice finish with thin sliced onions and veggies. The Engawa Arburi nigiri was recommended, and it was phenomenal. It is the 'fin edge' of flounder. Super delicate, with seared (arburi) flavor and melts in your mouth. Yum! The other highlight was the Wagyu beef cubes severed on stick. Two skewers 4 cubes each. The Wagyu was perfectly cooked. It melts in your mouth with every bite. We also enjoyed the 7 piece Omakase sushi set. The fish was very fresh and satiating. Love the lotus root chips garnishing. We loved everything we had but would likely skip the Omakase appetizer Platter. Perhaps we were spoiled by the hamachi carpaccio appetizer. We still enjoyed it but For the same price, we would prefer the sushi set. It had 9 small plates in a beautiful serving box including- tiny sashimi cube of salmon, tuna, tamago, and my fav is the komochi nishin (herring fillets ("Nishin") layered over a base of crunchy capelin roe), also included in the tiny plates of apps were, chicken karaage, baby taco, sliced taco, taco in red sauce, and seaweed salad. We sat in a separate section of the restaurant with 3 tables at the front. We ordered chicken wings, assorted tempura, miso black cod and an order of beef teriyaki that was not on the menu. The servings are very small for the prices charged. We found that the chicken wings (only 4 small wings) $9.50 were a bit dry. The tempura batter was not as crisp or crunchy as we've had. The miso black cod was a very small portion - maybe 4 oz. for $18.00. We did not feel that there was value for the money. The food was average and the prices were too high for the quality and amount of food received. We did not enjoy the anime that was playing and we were glad that we were not sitting in the main dining room. Overall, we feel that there are better options for a Japanese meal.
