The space was clean and our food arrived fairly quickly. We ordered the fried chicken and beef brisket soup curry. The spices weren't as strong and fragrant as the one we had in Sapporo which is what made it so memorable for me the first time. It was also a bit salty for my liking. But the fried chicken piece was about double the size than the one in Sapporo! Perfectly juicy and the crispiness is a nice contrast to the soup and soft vegetables. Beef brisket was soft and tender but would pick the fried chicken over the brisket. The rice was a bit lackluster compared to the more fragrant one in Sapporo. It's hard to compete with soup curry from the motherland, but this is still worth trying if you're looking for something different from the usual ramen or sushi.

I guess that's the trendy thing. They give you rice refills. The soup - I ordered the kakuni pork belly curry soup. The Kakuni is really really well done. Very tender and soft, absolutely wonderful. I also liked all of the other veggies - broccoli tomatoes corn etc. the soup is on the peppery side but has a great soft flavour to it. I also added eggplant which had great texture. The rice is also very unique. It is more like whole grained rice and feels healthy. Its texture contrasts with the soup and goes well with it I think. Don't expect traditional curry but if you're open to something new this is an enjoyable meal.

Walking into a rustic and cozy eatery while a friendly smile from a far welcomes us with every step handing us a menu and seating us in the cutest little booth right by the window overlooking charming Burrard street. I fell in love with the menu right away because it has all my favourite comfort foods. Take a look at the menu....you'll see.... We got the Soup & Salad combo (Mushroom Medley and FAB salad). .........The soup was everything a Mushroom Medley should be. Perfect proportions, spectacular seasoning and spot on temperature. (Yes, I've been served luke-warm soup before. It was not pretty.) The FAB salad. It was well....Fab. Every single ingredient was fresh. Every single one, and topped with red onion. Not adding red onion into a salad is like.....not adding basil to your pasta sauce. They got every detail covered. The Sandwich & Salad (Tasty Chicken Sandwich with FAB salad.) ...........The Chicken Sandwich was the best I've ever had. Just try it. You'll see. The FAB salad....well...we already covered that cutie. The service was warm, friendly, attentive and professional. With this place, aside from their kickass food, what really impressed me was their attention and care to detail. To the point where, when I asked for ice water....the glass was spotless, the water filled not too full and not lacking topped with a Fresh Cut Lemon Wedge. Obviously you have the tasty food, Quality service, and Clean Establishment that render a restaurant as great, but in my book, it's the little things that hoist it up to Excellent. And that is exactly what this place was. Excellent.

WHAT WE TRIED Chicken Leg Bowl with Scallion Oil Sliced Noodles and Braised Egg Large BYO Lamb Shoulder Bowl with Scallion Oil Thin Noodles and Braised Egg Jasmine Green Tea with Pearls & Pineapple Green Tea with Coconut Jelly The chicken leg was well-seasoned and incredibly tender, effortlessly falling off the bone. The lamb shoulder was equally good, with the meat absorbing the sauce perfectly. Both types of noodles we tried were springy with the perfect chew, providing a satisfying texture that complemented the proteins well. The braised egg was flavorful, with a rich, savoury taste that added an extra layer of indulgence. For our sides, we opted for black fungus, bean sprouts, celery and carrots, and corn. Each vegetable was fresh, adding a balance of crunch and subtle sweetness that elevated the overall dish. The variety of textures and flavours from the sides made every bite more dynamic and enjoyable. Overall, the combination of tender proteins, perfectly cooked noodles, and fresh sides made for a well-rounded and satisfying meal. Then one weekend after waiting in line ( more than a year ago) we ordered breakfast only to be told they had run out of potatoes! What!!! This was such an unbelievable disappointment , we didn't return until today to give it another chance. There haven't been any wait lines outside for months and perhaps today I understand why. I ordered the Florentine Bennie , they had potatoes today, but they were cold and undercooked, the spinach was so salty it was difficult to eat, there was an overall sour taste. When asked if everything was okay when the server picked up my half eaten plate I explained my experienced, they asked if I wanted something else, I said no. We did not get a discount or an apology . I shouldn't have to ask, and I understand why there are no longer lines waiting to get in. Maybe it started with potatoes with me but obviously it runs deeper internally. So sorry Sophie's , what's up in your kitchen...we noticed your server did not feel comfortable enough to let the kitchen know at the point of return...sigh

The decor within is super clustery and messy looking, however for a old school diner, I guess that makes sense? - place was pretty clean for the most part. - very packed and quite noisy - The service team was super friendly, and checked on you frequently. Tried the BC Wild Sockeye Salmon Burger - with a side of fries - nothing special with the fries, they did there part. The Salmon however, was very bland - parts were soft, where most of it was just a dry blob. - lettuce did not taste fresh and bits was changing color.
