I was recommended the Peppermill by a server at a nearby restaurant. It was good...not great. I was thrilled thought to see they serve breakfast seven days a week. The server appeared to be the bartender as well, and there were very few in the restaurant. A few gentlemen were having beers and breakfast before golfing and they appeared to be regulars. It took too long for the server to come to the table to greet me, and then it took took long also for the server to take my order. I waited and waited and a few others were receiving food, and the server came to my table and asked me if I decided. I told her I had already given the order to her. Hmmm? I believe she forgot to ring it in, as I heard her call the cook her hero when was my plate of food was up. The food was good. The french toast was perfect, the over-easy eggs were excellent, but the sausage links appeared to be overcooked. It also seemed they were deep fried...I hope not. What really gets me is the "cold" syrup that is served with the french toast. Why pour cold syrup on hot food?? I have seen this too often in restaurants...just heat the syrup up. The remodel that was done a couple of years ago I was told is excellent. I do feel the booth tables are too low to the seat. I will need to try it again, especially on Prime Rib Wednesday, which I was told occurs on the first Wednesday of each month, and the breakfast is worth another attempt.

We are from outta town and need a place to watch college football with friends and family. First of all the rating here are brutal. Lower your expectations people, you need to realize that this is a divey sports bar. The food is supposed to be hangover greasy pub food and there should be 100 TVs, pool tables, huge bar, and this place has all of this! Plus the waitresses are super nice and all over their job.

Went here recently for breakfast. Food was pretty good. Service way good. Seemed a bit spendy for breakfast, but overall good.

Does this place even exist anymore? It used to be a favorite spot for retiree residents?

Yes it does. It's under renovation currently but still open for business. I see all demographics at this location. However, I did not see a lot retiree representative clientele. Not to say you wouldn't be welcome I'm sure.

[Format & Space] Seat yourself*, review the menus at the table, order at the bar, they bring your food and drinks to your table. *Plenty of tables, some with long benches, others with chairs on the inside. There's also a large patio. This is a welcome and safe space. [Drinks] Right up front, I'm going to tell you I'm a lightweight. I'm allergic to alcohol, so I don't drink often. Here's one of the things I love about The 649. They have a fantastic selection of mocktails that are created with the same creativity, flair, and intention as a "leaded" cocktail. I appreciate that I get to participate and not be stuck with a lemonade, zero alcohol beer, or wine. So, HUZZAH for creating an inviting space for a non-drinker! There *are* times when I'm willing to risk the lobster-bod, itchiness, and stuffy nose and there are plenty of cocktails from which to choose! [Food] There's a nice selection of sharable plates and mains. I've personally tried the flatbread pizza, Bavarian pretzel, Cubano, and Brisket Press, all of which were delish. [Service] The service has always been fabulous. The staff are welcoming, friendly, and helpful. [Activities] There are a few TVs around the bar with sports. It was a great place to catch some of the World Cup games. Additionally, there are several games that you can borrow and play, which is a lot of fun. [Location] Tucked in a busy shopping center with Safeway as an anchor. Parking hasn't been super problematic yet, but based on one of the other reviewers (Ron R - loved your formatting too, so I borrowed it until we get rich text formatting or emojis!) I can see where it could be a challenge.

This I'd say, is a fantastic little hang out! Here's the 411 on The 649:…read more * Parking Situation * Although the location of The 649 is just "where the F" (eye-roller). Because it's somewhat hidden in the corner of a Safeway shopping plaza. Look for the Baskin Robbins or Wells Fargo ATM and your find it. Like other reviews, when busy, parking can be a bit horrendous. But in hindsight, I'm not gonna reduce a star just because of location. * Bar Food Menu & Dining * Their menu starts with shareable bites, like a pretzel, tacos, quesadilla, loaded nachos, and even a charcuterie plate. Slightly larger dishes would be their Cubano and Brisket Press sandwiches. They even have a few choices for soup and salads, and a couple of dessert items listed. Don't forget to check the chalkboard next to the bar for specialty dishes and drinks. As for dining-in, they've got sturdy wooden tables that can accommodate 4-8 people. Bar stools by the windows, and a fairly large outside patio area. And with the times I've been here, I've never seen a dirty table. Very well maintained (two thumbs up). A few TV monitors showing the game, but its not like a noisy sportsbar. * Drinks & Services* You've got your choice of craft beers that rotate like a standard tap room. They also have tasty seasonal cocktails, but their normal everyday cocktails are just as good. And if you're gonna have a charcuterie board, then you've got to offer a wine list option right? Well they got that too! One last thing to mention, they've got some top-shelf bourbon and whiskey. The 649 is a bar that offers it all! Service has also been welcoming and top-notch. I recall only been served by Rich, Steven, and Crystal, but they always seem to craft up some lovely cocktails. Or deliver some clean tasting everyday type of bar food as well. * Last Call * Normally in my reviews, I'd list every item that I've tried, with price included. But The 649 is such a unique type of bar experience that I feel you should try for yourself; To me, their offerings are reasonably priced. Dining in is nothing fancy, but service is excellent. It's a great hangout for a business date, of even after a first date. I've got nothing but love for local support!

I also was able to get one of my favorite sour beers on tap. The service was great! They were prompt in welcoming us as we walked in and served us up a drink and appetizer pretty quick. I like the Taphouse vibe they have especially since they offer outdoor seating. I look forward to revisiting in a few days with my young adult daughter to show her how great the happy hour is and the beer selection. Nice neighborhood brewery you must check out.

What a great change, it use to have a simi pushing owners that had brought in many coolers to push sales of their brew, we stopped coming by. We are so happy with the new ownership and casual feel they have brought to the neighborhood. My friend was celebrating his 80 some birthday and he loves micro-brews, we tried three pints, a hazy, a brown and a stout, they were all excellent. We liked them so much we took three cans home!! The food options were a nice surprise. We had the chicken Tinga nachos, they have a variety of other protein options, we split some happy hour nachos with chicken , they were loaded with cheese, jalapeños, onions and tomatoes. Well worth it, we also split the chips and salsa, a little plain but they matched well with the brew. The staff is super friendly and engaged as we sampled multiple beers, we really enjoyed the laid back feel and vibe, I cannot wait to visit again with more friends! Hope they get Sunday Ticket , it would be a great addition to the laid back feel that a sports bar lacks.
