Discolored grout in the bathroom, sloppy workmanship on the maintenance / upkeep.

Super low budget and extremely affordable (was a very quiet location and easy freeway access) BUT: grungy / gross inside the room. I did not walk barefoot in the room, nor did I put my luggage / clothing on the floor. No elevators to the second floor so be prepared to lug your stuff up concrete slab steps if you're assigned an upstairs room. Note: just because the linens smell bleached doesn't mean they or the room are spotless and clean.

Our room was disgusting! I don't even think it was cleaned. The bed had stains on it (yuk! I don't want to know what it was), the pillows had weird brown markings and the fridge had food crumbs and drink stains. We booked this through booking.com and have no idea how it got a 7. It was beyond horrible and we were a bit scared to sleep there at night, especially when we saw the police circling it.

If you are someone who enjoys party sounds and pool playtime right outside your room until after 10pm, stay here! If you are comforted knowing there is a family with small children talking and laughing loudly in the adjacent room that you can almost join in the conversation with because you can hear every word, past 2am, stay here! If you like a lived in feel to the room and furnishings, this will not disappoint! If you like the idea of a blob of red nail polish on the switch in the bathroom marking the fan, you'll be thrilled here. If you like the idea of a morning cup of joe but don't actually like coffee, this place will make you happy. If you long for a desk clerk who informs you when you check in and tell him you are driving a Volkswagen, who tells you it was the worst car he ever owned, this is the place for you!

What a disappointment, we booked this hotel online for our trip to Boy Camp for our son's birthday, and the reviews looked pretty good. The hotel had a pool supposedly, but it was closed due to lack of maintenance and was all dirty and yucky which fitted the state of the rest of the outdoor facility where there were lots of trash, overfilled trash cans, and lots of signs of this hotel not being taken care of or upheld. The room itself was fine and clean like a Motel 6 but not as well upheld with fridge, cable tv, and that stuff, the bed was fine, but the pillows were lumpy and super uncomfortable. The number one safety tip on the sleeve for the key said to use the deadbolt on the door, ours was broken and part of it missing. There was no table in the room so we decided to use the outdoor space with tables and chairs to enjoy our dinner, but it was dirty with lots of trash on the ground. We didn't have super high expectations, but for $160 a night this place is a DUMP, and not how we had hoped to celebrate our kid's special day. Now to see what breakfast looks like, we were told it's to go, so we expect dry bagels/muffins, I hope I am wrong. So we decided to head out early and grabbed the "breakfast" bags on the way out which contained a small orange, a hard mini muffin, and a granola bar, so barely a snack for growing boys as they put it. All in all a huge disappointment and we will for sure never stay there again, I mean if the owners can't even clean the pool for the 4th of July weekend, seriously

Place wasn't so bad at first but they have a huge ant problem. There were ANTS everywhere in the room. DISGUSTING!! Never coming here again. Plus the rooms aren't the same, you either get a 2 star room or a 3 star room. Wouldn't recommend

Older building, but that isn't necessarily bad. It is under new owner/management so i expect next time to have improvements. We stayed in room 101. The door was missing the deadbolt. The tv seemed not right. The channels were random. 2 channels were screen savers with no sound. The cabinet rattles as you walk by it. I would stay here again. I just hope it would be improved when we do.

    Broken stairs

This hotel is absolutely terrible. Ive never written a review on a business before but i am now. There are stains on the floors, the sheets, blankets and walls. There was garbage loose on the floor under the bed (3 soda bottles, and a bunch of food that my dog got into). There were people obviously on drugs awake all night standing on balcony outside of their rooms. I ended up leaving at 3:30am because I couldn't stay there it was neither clean or a safe place to be. Then when i was walking down the stairs on my way out one of the stairs on the staircase literally fell into pieces under my feet and i almost fell through the staircase. Terrible hotel. If I could give it no stars or negative stars i would give it a negative 5.

I've read a lot of bad things about this hotel but not all are true. The outside looks super ragged but the inside was really nice. The inside of the room was nice and clean. The shower was clean which is a must. Surprisingly they even had a nice wall mounted HDTV. I arrived a day later than I had scheduled and they changed the date for me easily and with no fuss. Great hotel for the price, though I'm sure the price will go up after they renovate.

I felt bad for him because he had a full hotel, and a lot of things going on, but he was alone and had no help. During the check in process, he mentioned we had booked a double-king room. I was surprised, but figured maybe I made a mistake by booking the double king. Upon checking my confirmation email from a couple weeks ago, sure enough, I booked a one king courtyard. I mentioned it to the gentlemen who checked me in, and he explained they had been over-booked for a while now, and someone must have moved the room type to make the accommodation happen. He referred to the double king as an "upgrade". I proceeded to check the Best Western app, and showed him how the hotel was showing almost all room types still being available. I worked in the hotel industry for a long time, so I knew instantly how this was a middle to upper management issue. What bothers me is someone saw a long time Best Western rewards member incoming, and they HAVE to switch the room, but don't have the decency to send a quick email, or even make a phone call to let the guest know prior to arrival? We ended up checking into a double-king courtyard room, 137, and it was anything but that. The balcony was first floor and opened up to a covered cave-like alcove with a view of a dripping wet concrete retaining wall. One door down from us was piled up cleaning equipment. The room looked nice though! On check in the guy had mentioned having another room if we didn't like that view, 203. I walked back and the nice man got us into 203 instead. This view was MUCH better. The room looked great, modern and spacious, but it had a peculiar wet odor. The bathroom was nice too, but the housecleaner forgot to refill the conditioner, and the hand soap was knocked off the wall and sitting on the shelf. There was an odd maybe thirty-year-old ADA shower chair placed in the bathroom too with a wash towel neatly placed over its seat. Also, some of the furniture in the room was in need of a good wipe down. The best part of this hotel is the grounds. The large fountain, and the greenery around it is so beautiful. Please do whatever you can to preserve this! Also, the lobby is very nice and comfortable. They're clearly taking steps to revive this old property, and they seem to be heading in the right direction. I'm concerned with the overall management of this hotel, specifically upper management. In their list of attributes, I wonder where they realistically place hospitality. The place is definitely in the process of being renovated, but I feel like management could have more control over the other issues mentioned above.

The only negatives are the $17 parking fee, for parking on their unsecured lot each day, and that we were not advised that the maid service was only every other day. The "tipping just got easier"placard clearly visible on the coffee table in our room was quite ironic, as we had to call for towels when we returned to our room last evening and it took over half an hour and two phone calls to receive them. Staff are friendly. Breakfast buffet is extensive and includes everything from cold cereal to a made-to-order omelettes. There's also a restaurant on site that offers an upscale menu. Hotel itself is clean and comfortable, with the main courtyard on the first floor open to the rooms rising up several stories. Happy hour and some breakfast busy times can be a little noisy as we were on the second floor, but it wasn't anything that was unbearable. In addition, there's a mall nearby and a Target store across the street if you need to pick up other snacks or maybe something you forgot to pack. All in all, a comfortable stay and we would stay here again when in the area.
