    Detroit style - cheese
    Stephen G.

An underrated pizza spot in Pittsburgh. Food (5/5): Honestly, the best Detroit style pizza outside of Iron Born. The difference is the price here is incredible (we'll get to that). The crust is nice and crisp, not hard, with a good char on the edges. There is plenty of sauce and I feel like their normal amount cheese is pretty close to extra cheese, which I love. If I did not live so far away I would get this pizza all the time! Service (5/5): I have sat down here quite a bit because it is too far to bring pizza home without it getting cold. While we did not get waited on because you order at the counter and then sit down, the staff checked on us a few times over the course of the meal. Price (5/5): This is really what separates Peppino's from the competition - the prices are fantastic. They have really good specials and the base prices are reasonable. Especially, when you factor in how good the pizza is.

Still a big fan of their Detroit deep dish pizza. Plus, it's nice because you can customize and make it a half-and-half so you can get half of a specialty in one side and half of another specialty on the other side or just create your own if you would like. I also appreciate that you can order quickly online and pay online and you just walk in the door and pick it up. Typically pizzas are ready in 30 to 35 minutes after you order. Everyone is always friendly when I go to pick it up. Recommend for Detroit Style!

WOW!!! Thank you fellow Yelpers for giving this well deserved pizza place the shout out. I was in search of a place to stop on my way to the Butler, PA area for lunch with family this past Friday. I was looking to support local, and couldn't have been happier to have found them. I have to laugh though (on a side note), earlier in the week on a virtual local happy hour event ,pizza and deep dish style was brought up as a discussion topic by our CM Alex. I had to order their deep dish pizza to check it out and add to my first pizza review. Let me tell you the prices on a whole were extremely reasonable, and well worth every penny spent. Ordered the 10 slice deep dish style pizza with mushrooms for $ 11. After speaking with one of the staff there; found out all ingredients are fresh daily, vegetables, dough, and yes they actually even have a process for their cheese. The sauce was out of this world, reminded me of old school authentic Italian red sauce. The pizza crust, taste and everything was exactly what I excepted and then some for deep dish. The calzones were crisp, filled, tasted just as mouthwatering, and delicious as the pizza. The staff and service were outstanding, well worth the stop for lunch and to take home their pizza. If you find yourself on the 79 on your way to Pittsburgh, and get hungry be sure to check this place out. Its located at the second Zelienople exit and its a short distance, in a strip plaza to pizza lovers haven. Do keep in mind they have salads, and subs as well. I will be sure to visit again the next time in the area.

Nice place, great pizza and friendly staff! I'll be back. Clean tables - eat in or take out .

    Delicious breadsticks. Bite sized.

I'm giving 4 stars based upon my wife's enjoyment of the pizza. I guess I'm not much of a Detroit style pizza fan, but I know she is. To me it's just too much dough. I decided to order based upon Yelp reviews. Don't get me wrong, the pizza tasted good, I just don't like Detroit style but I ordered it because my wife does. She really enjoyed the pizza. We had breadsticks and sauce. They are basically bite size breadsticks. I really enjoyed those, as did my wife and kids. Next time I'll try a regular pizza and see how that is. We will try it again.

Great, little spot, especially if you're looking to feed a lot of kids. Their prices are fair, probably cheaper than most. Pizza is solid.

The restaurant is located in an old bank building and the ambiance here is lovely. We chose the 5 course for two which is chef selected. It did not disappoint. We started with the polenta fries with the tomato basil aioli dipping sauce. The fries were hot, crispy and loaded with flavor. The sauce gave them a nice punch of flavor and was a nice addition. Next, we had the green goddess which included shaved asparagus and snow peas with mixed greens which was a lovely departure from your run of the mill Green Goddess. The lemon zest and ricotta balanced each other nicely. Next was the porchetta genovese pizza. Delicious! The olive oil flavor from the pesto sauce was stellar. We each had a slice and took the four remaining slices home so we could finish the two additional courses to come. Next, the Mafalda Cacciatore, a braised rabbit ragu. The meat was moist and the homemade pasta is the stuff dreams are made of. We finished our dinner with the tiramisu. Left to my own devices, I wouldn't have chosen tiramisu, so I'm happy it was chef's choice. This tiramisu was head and shoulders above all past tiramisu's I've eaten. The ladyfingers were moist without being soggy, the coffee flavor was strong without being overwhelming and the zabione was creamy deliciousness. I'm going to dream about this dessert. I just know it. Our server was Natalie and she has truly perfected the art of her craft. She timed our meal beautifully, described each dish she delivered, and answered our questions. On top of that she had a warm and friendly personality to boot. Finally, I have no idea how Della Terra has a rating below a 4! I'm absolutely baffled. I read a LOT of reviews and I love good food and good service. Both of these things are in abundance here. The ambience as I said is wonderful and their background music is at the perfect level. We were able to have conversation throughout our meal without yelling or repeating. So refreshing. Run, don't walk, to dine at Della Terra tonight! You can thank me later.

Unfortunately, the service didn't match the food. The waitress took our order and the service slowed after that. I'll post a photo of the menu, but here are some of my thoughts: Turkey - so delicious Mashed potatoes - perfection Stuffing - I loved it but the kids didn't. Honestly they probably would have preferred Stove Top though. Green beans - very tasty but not great as a leftover Cranberry chutney - ok, I love the canned stuff but this was truly a hit. Rolls and butter - literally such delicious butter! Apple pies - they were more like empanadas. I was expecting mini round pies. The crust was amazing but the apples were a bit tart. The pickup was easy and seamless. Everything was packed well. Thank you! We can't wait to come in to eat soon.

Our waitress Ellie was attentive, patient, and helpful for our party of 9. She was even willing to give some of the guests tea bags from her own stash! Our group of 9 tried almost everything on the menu. They have a small menu with a few appetizers and main courses along with some desserts. Because we were a larger group, at least one of us got something on the menu. We also shared, so I tried many of the dishes! They gave us an amuse bouche, which was aracini with caramelized onions and peppers. DELICIOUS. I wanted more. We also got foccacia with an oil dipping sauce. The focaccia was denser than usual, but I loved it! Here's what we tried: [Sausage Greens & Beans]: A traditional Italian dish that was absolutely delicious. There was so much flavor between the panchetta, beans, escarole, and sausage. This dish was out of my comfort zone but so delightful. [Crispy Brussel Sprouts]: Man! These were good. They were perfectly charred and paired with a spicy sauce that took this dish to the next level. [Wedding Soup]: A little non-traditional since their noodles were much larger, but I loved the denser meatballs. [Caesar Salad]: My husband loved this dish! The croutons made the dish extra, and it was well dressed and slightly lemony. [Warm Mushroom Salad]: I hate mushrooms but I loved this. The rosemary smoked mushrooms were the star of this dish. [Shrimp Risotto]: This was so creamy and flavorful! [Chicken Marsala]: This dish was out of this world! The rosemary smoked mushrooms gave this dish a perfectly smokey flavored. The chicken was stuffed and accompanied with lyonnaise potatoes that were so crispy and delicious. [Roasted Veggie Rolled Lasagna]: Wow was this dish flavorful. The variety of vegetables were perfect, and the roaster red pepper ricotta in the middle was just what this dish needed. [Apples, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie]: This was the perfect fall dessert. Apple turnovers, peaches, and pumpkin pie mousse. The perfection portion and not overly sweet! This restaurant made it to my top 5, and it was so delicious. All of the flavors were so complex! You need to try this restaurant or you'll really be missing out! I cannot wait to try more items on their menus as their specials and menu changes. Such a hidden gem!

The restaurant was only about 50% full, so it didn't seem overly busy. We were seated in the back and ordered drinks, appetizers, and entrees within about five minutes. Our waitress was incredibly nice and attentive -- she was quick with our first two rounds of refills and had a great attitude the entire night. Unfortunately, the timing of the food really hurt the experience. Our appetizers didn't come out until about 45 minutes after ordering, and our entrees arrived an hour and a half after we were seated. By the time our dinners came out, we were the last table left in the restaurant. To make things more frustrating, the meals were brought out in two separate rounds about 10 minutes apart. When the second round finally came, we ended up asking for boxes and the check right away. The food itself was absolutely delicious, and our waitress did everything she could to take care of us. That's why we're giving 3 stars. But waiting an hour and a half for dinner -- especially when the restaurant wasn't very busy -- is just not acceptable. We'd consider giving it another try, but only if the kitchen timing improves.
