I went to Romy because I was concerned about my pelvic floor and diastasis recti after having my second child. Not only did she treat me for those things, she also identified other issues I didn't even know I had. I had seen a pelvic floor specialist after my first child, but Romy is on a whole other level. There are not enough good things I can say about my time working with Romy on recovering from a bladder prolapse following the birth of my first child. She is an incredibly experienced and knowledgeable pelvic floor therapist who has helped me to make great progress in my postpartum healing. I came to Romy with great anxiety and terrible prolapse symptoms at five weeks postpartum and she has worked on me every week, delivering highly effective in-person treatments as well as home strengthening exercises appropriate to my body's stage of healing. Most importantly, Romy is empathetic and establishes a strong therapist-patient trust. She's generous with her time and has answered my many detailed questions in order to help me better understand my prolapse. She has always made me feel comfortable and heard, which is especially important given how personal the work is. I am eternally grateful to her for getting me through the first 11 weeks of postpartum and helping me to significantly alleviate my prolapse symptoms. I was referred to romy by my birthing center to help address concerns I had about my pelvic floor. Romy spent so much time helping me understand my body, little things I could change in my workout plans to help prepare my body for a smooth labor and things to do leading up to the due date to reduce the odds of tearing during labor. I'm happy to report after having my first baby, completely natural, that I didn't tear at all and my recovery has been less than 2 weeks with no incontentence issues. Even after the baby came i was able to reach out to romy for a quick piece of advice on belly binding, via email. Unlike most doctors and PT's she didn't insist i come in for an appointment, she happily gave me the advice I needed so I could make an informed decision. I don't know where to start but I came to know about Romy from someone I knew , she recommended Romy for Pelvic floor related issues . Even though her office was far from my place I decided to give it a try since I was in a lot of pain due to Hypertonic Pelvic floor . Background : I had been to another PT before seeing Romy and the exercises the ex PT gave me made my Pelvic floor hypertonic and caused pain which I never ever had . So I met Romy and explained the pain and my Hypertonic pelvic floor along with a Prolapse . Romy went above and beyond to listen to me and start working on my pelvic floor where she does Internal as well as External work ( In my case to relax the pelvic area ). Also works so hard on trying finding tight spots and massaging the area which is not something many PTs do. In addition she also sees your posture , breath , movement pattern and has tremendous suggestions to all your questions . So ladies if you have any Pelvic floor related issues I would highly recommend Romy and her services . I was fortunate to work with Romy during my second pregnancy as I'd heard about her work with pregnant and postpartum women. Her approach put me at ease instantly. As soon as I described my issues she knew exactly what I was talking about, gave thorough explanations of how she would assess and address my symptoms. She recommended a variety of options from exercises to products to treat my condition. But most of all her rates are reasonable and I was able to use my FSA to cover the cost of our sessions. I signed up for yelp just to write this review, because I adore Romy SO much. I saw Romy for orthopedic issues (hamstring strain/knee pain) as I was getting back to running/cycling after the birth of my second child. I had previously seen another PT for many sessions, and wasn't making progress with him. Romy did a FULL assessment, and immediately realized that my leg/knee issues were from post-partum core issues and muscle weakness tightness stemming from post-partum posture and ab separation. Instead of just focusing on the areas that hurt, Romy looked at the full picture, and gave me a manageable set of exercises, and I began to see SO much improvement within a few weeks. She spends a full hour with you each session, and squeezes in so much in that hour, so you really get the most out of the session. Romy came to my home (which was so convenient) and is so easy to schedule appointments with (she will schedule by email or phone, which is great for phone-phobes like me). She has such a warm, easy to talk to demeanor, and shares so much information without being too jargon-y or condescending. She really took into account what my current activity level was and where I wanted to be, and worked with me to get back to running and cycling as quickly as possible. Romy is the rare PT who is super knowledgeable about both orthopedic issues AND post-partum pelvic/ab issues, and combines her knowledge to get you feeling your best. It's hard for me to put into words how helpful Romy has been. Over the past decade I have worked with about seven physical therapists, and Romy has been by far the most helpful and knowledgeable. Even though my insurance does not cover the visits, I can honestly say that working with her has been one of the best investments I have made in my health. Romy honestly changed my life in incredible ways I did not think was possible. My pelvic pain had just gotten worse and worse over many years after trauma. I saw a doctor that referred me to Romy. She was so professional and made me feel comfortable while treating me in her office, which is saying a lot with the trauma, and she gave me tons of training on things I could do at home, and tools I could use. She had lots of samples that really helped too, my skin is extremely sensitive and I had given up on finding options for me. She also suggested therapist I could see to address the emotional sides of the trauma behind the pelvic pain I was experiencing. I was also surprised how quickly the pain got better, maybe around two months? After six years of pain. Romy also helped me with other PT needs I had - in my back and legs.
