I had an extremely poor experience during my Brazilian wax appointment. I have been getting waxed for decades and this is the first time I have ever felt uncomfortable and treated so poorly. The attendant seemed annoyed and just over being there. She was very rough and did not have a technic or the human decency to be sensitive in that area. When i asked her to please be mindful as I was in pain, she proceeded with pouring on the hot wax. i felt she took joy in pulling the strips off. I mentally had to talk myself through each strip. It was mortifying as I laid there vulnerable and trying to breath through the pain. And to be clear, I have subject myself to waxing for years and actually enjoy being wax. so my pain threshold is HIGH! After we were done she didn't apply oil or anything to help subside the pain. Very odd. I don't know what's worse my experience or the quality of the job! Upon getting home, I realize that I have an entire patch of hair that was not removed and several areas were there are still strands! UGH! So I came here for a full body wax and eye brow threading, services that I've had done before in other places. I have to say I'm very dissapointed. I usually go very far but I need an emergency wax so it was so convenient and well I was a walk-in so it was awesome that I could be seen same day. The place is clean looks great and they were two ladies. The older lady took me to the waxing room and the process was pretty quick. I mean I've been waxing since jan every month and half do I didn't have loads of hair yet she left a bunch of hair everywhere. Also left me completely sticky and just told me now u can go shower. Really they have baby oil there so I tried to take most of the left over wax myself. I got home and I literally sat in my bathroom for 1 And half tweezing in between my legs underarms. Also i had my eyebrow threaded which I got home and my bf just asked me if I got into a fight with tweezers. Never again. read more

I went here based on the good reviews and I wish I would have trusted my gut and just went back to queens where I used to live/get my brows done. the woman didn't give me her name but I had been growing my brows out for a little over a month and asked that she keep them big and just clean up a little. First, i have been getting my brows threaded since i was 13 (i'm 26 now) so i know how to handle it -- she was SO rough getting my hair and eyelashes stuck in the thread. I have been going here for a few months now to get my eyebrows done. Dolly does my eyebrows and she has always done them perfectly. As with any eyebrow place you have to tell the person how thick or thin you want your brows and they will do it that way. I have also taken two of my coworkers here and they've been happy with the results. I just was thinking of getting a bikini wax, and I happened to walk by and see the prices were really reasonable and decided to give it a try. I called first (I had walked by the other day) to ask if they would have availability and check about pricing. They said it would be between $10-20 for what I wanted ($10 for "just the line" $20 for "the top") and that I could just come in. I only waited about 5 mins. The girl who helped me was very nice. After I explained that I basically just wanted to clean the edges and a little from the top, but not the whole front, she told me that would be $15. No problem. Only took a few minutes, and she checked a couple of times that I was happy. My skin is sensitive, so it's red right now, but I expected that. I'll update if anything unusual happens with healing over the next couple days. But, right now, I'm happy especially for the price! read more

I have been coming to Perfect Brows from the first day they opened and have been *very* lucky to find Benish. This girl does the most amazing eyebrow threading. She's very conscientious and meticulously works on your eyebrows. On my 2nd visit, I was amazed to see around 4 women sitting and waiting for Benish to finish working with her current customer. I found out she does Brazillian waxing and immediately asked for a time slot. Clean and smooth! This is about as close as you're going to get to a true Rio Brazi. I can NOT recommend her highly enough. The salon is very clean. The bathroom is neat and their waxing/facial rooms are kept in very good order. Let's be clear, 3 stars is an average. The salon is clean and the ladies in front are friendly. They can usually accommodate walk-ins. The quality of services, however, is inconsistent. Brazilian wax: 2 stars. Ouch. The wax was super hot and the easthetician was not very sympathetic. She didn't ask if I wanted a break or if the wax was too hot - I had to ask. She said she turned down the heat, but it felt the same to me. The results were meh. There were a lot of stray hairs that I had to take care of myself and my skin was more sore than usual afterwards. Brow threading: 4 stars. My brows look great. Very clean, natural shape. The threading was quick. In summary: I will certainly be back on a regular basis for my brows, but never again for a wax. read more

This establishment sticks out amongst a row of other businesses on 181st st. It is very chic and clean looking, which was a huge plus the first time I visited (about 2 months ago). My first visit 2 months ago was to get my eyebrows waxed, however, I saw that they did threading for the same price ($7) and thought I'd try it out since I had been wanting to for a while. The woman who worked on me the first time was friendly, explained everything she was going to do, and then proceeded to do it very quickly. My eyebrows had never looked better and I was incredibly pleased! On my second visit, about a month ago, another lady threaded my eyebrows. While she was hospitable and also made quick work with my brows, I didn't feel as if they were as clean as they had been done previously. The shape was not as defined as I remembered them being the first time, which was a little disappointing. (Also, hence the 4 stars) I am making a visit there today, and am hoping that I get the same lady as my first visit. I will update after! read more

My 4 stars are only directed at 2 ladies who work there. Ronnie and Dimple. I go here for Brazilian and leg waxing. I have very sensitive skin and both of these ladies are gentle with me and make me feel at ease throughout the waxing session. Whenever I go I always make sure one if them waxes me. I have tried several of the other woman there and the experience was just horrible. They were so rough I was left bleeding and it hurt when I walked. BEWARE!!!! They are dirty. I don't have sensitive skin nor have I ever broken out from threading or waxing. I got both threading and waxing on my brows and face. Shortly afterwards I broke out all over with itchy red bumps. I thought it would be a temporary side affect so I wasn't really concerned. Next day the bumps were still there and slightly swollen. I went back looking for some answers or some kind of help but all they did was cop out to " you have sensitive skin" NO TF I don't! She knows what she's doing and she carries a great conversation (great for distracting from the hot wax). But I had to detract because the experience of getting here was less than desirable. I am so sad, I have been going to this Perfect Brows off and on for about a year after paying too much for half decent Brazilian at higher end places. So when I eventually tried this place and got an amazing deal of $25 for a chocolate Brazilian I was stoked. Plus the ladies were fantastic, very thorough, checking to make sure they got everything. So I have only been going there. Then today, I walk in and it is different women than I've had before. I ask for it and they say it will be $35. For me I've paid more than that for a worse wax so I said fine I'll ask about it afterwards. When I ask if they raised the prices the woman legitimately said no it has always been $35 which I know is a lie. So you just lost a regular customer,I will now have to travel to the UES Perfect Brows where I know they will be giving me a set price every time. I don't even care if they would have raised the price but the fact that she just upped the price because she didn't recognize me is extremely offensive and just not good business. read more

I've been three times now to this threading salon and seen three different threaders. Have to say it is consistently mediocre by comparison to the other place I've regularly used. I've wound up bruised, pinched and the last time the technician threaded so slowly it was much more painful and took longer than usual. I'm very glad to have this new business in the 'hood and I may continue to use it for touch ups, but I'm not yet seeing the quality in the service that I've come to expect since using another threading place in Chelsea for many years now. I found this place by chance. I was thinking to get my brows thread later today and suddenly I saw this place so I decided to try. The lady at the entrance was nice to me, ask me what I wanted and went ahead and started. She was very gentle and when she was done she put on some gel (I am guessing aloe or something) on my brows which made it sting a bit. I am usually sprayed with a bit of rose water in other threading places, but I was fine with the gel (not that I was asked but still) In any case, so far I haven't had an allergic reaction to the gel they used except for the stinging. I go to this place because it's convenient and cheap. $30 for a brazilian is an unbeatable price, but you do get what you pay for. The girls are nice enough, but they aren't very gentle, but they are usually very through. I've never had my eyebrows threaded before, and I decided to try it out last weekend. It was so painful! Maybe that's what it's supposed to feel like, but it felt like she was yanking clumps out at a time. One thing I do have to compliment them though, for the price, it's a very sanitary place. Went here earlier tonight for the first time. Was hoping to find a great brow place in my neighborhood, and was not disappointed. Benish was amazing, I showed her pictures to give her an idea of what I was going for and she understood perfectly. Threading was quick and precise. Was able to keep my eyebrows thick and natural while also tidying them up. For the price ($7) and time (about 10 mins total), I'll definitely be back! read more

I was advised by a friend to ask for the "older" lady because my friend had a better experience with her. Upon stepping in to the shop, I was told by a younger lady to sit in her chair, but I asked her if it would be alright if I waited for the other lady. She gave a nasty look, asking if I've ever even been there before, and when I answered yes, she irritably said "whatever you want". As I waited for the older lady to finish up with her customer, the two kept looking at me and talking in their own language. As I finally got my turn, the older lady started threading my brows and it was the most painful experience I've ever had. When I got home, I found out that she had ripped the skin on my eyelid directly across. I actually scabbed for the few days to come. And even then she still missed a few stray hairs. The only reason I give it two stars is because I actually like the shape, but otherwise, the entire experience (especially getting my skin ripped off) was absolutely horrible! read more

I moved to the neighborhood a year ago, and was unhappy about the lack of eyebrow threading salons. Needless to say, I was ecstatic when this place opened up. I would say its about the same overall quality as the other threading salons in the city in this price range. The threading service is extremely variable, but overall good. I tried going to the same person who did a great job the first few times she did my eyebrows, but then thinned them out too much. So now I have moved on to another person, and she has been great so far but I fear she too will be inconsistent. I have also gotten 2 bikini waxes there. Great price, however again variable service. The first woman was sloppy but got the job done, and the second woman was amazing. Overall this place is a 4 for good service at a great price. read more

Ok, where do I start. Well, I moved back to NY a few months ago and was in dire need to find a place to get my Brazilian wax. I have been getting the Brizilian wax once a month for the past 6 years so I was desperately looking for a clean, trustworthy spot to get my wax. I did find a place downtown but only went twice because it was too expensive for me ($75), mind you, this was the best Brazilian wax I have ever gotten!!! I was told about this place in the Heights by my sis-in-law who happens to get her eyebrows threaded there, so I decided to give a shot. Once I got there I noticed there were many clients waiting so I figured that was a good thing. The ladies that worked there were not friendly at all. I stood there for about 10 minutes before I was aksed what I needed to get done. I noticed there werent enough chairs for people who were waiting for services but that was the least of my concerns. Once it was my turn, I informed lady i was not there to get threaded but to get a Brazilian wax. She hesitated for a minute because of a client who didnt want to wait to get her turn, then told me to go to the room in the back. Once in the wax room, I asked her what was the difference between the chocolate wax and sugar wax, she seemed not to know the answer. She just told me the chocolate wax would be better cuz it will take longer for hair to grow back. I had other questions, but she seemed not to know the answer. So while laying down, I noticed she was rushing to prepare the wax. Now I will not go into detail with the wax experience, but I can say that this has been the worst wax I have ever gotten in my life!!!!!!!!! I can say it was worse then the first time I got it done. She was so rough and pretty much careless with my private!!!!! I literally wanted to punch her in her face!!!!!!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!!!! I always go there for eyebrow threading and bikini wax. Waxing has always been painful, but if you ask for Neeru she will do it as painless as you can imagine. She uses small stripes and takes them off so fast that the pain goes away after few seconds and the skin is smooth and there is no bumps. read more
