You can go to those overpriced places to have your hair removed. I prefer to go where the job gets done without judgement and where they appreciate my business without an endless sales pitch. They may ask if you would like additional services but they won't harass you about it. They give you an opportunity to check their handiwork and they are topnotch when it comes to cleanliness and hygiene. The shop also has a frequent user card that is a bonus. They offer hair removal services, facials, lashes and henna. I usually stick to the hair removal services and I'm satisfied. The location is small, clean and open pretty late. The staff is efficient, welcoming and thorough. read more

First time in my 10+ years of getting threaded where I was not offered aloe despite being super red after threading. I didn't feel welcome or liked, and felt treated differently than the other clients who came before and after me. I'm not sure why as we did not have any substantial conversation. I guess if you're east or southeast ASIAN, don't come here. If you go through my past Yelp reviews, you'll see that I've reviewed threading salons across the country. I would not come here again. I'm so sad. I had such a great experience the first time I went to this place! My eyebrows look great, and I wanted to get a few stray hairs removed from my chin...my chin is cut alllll up. I noticed my face was stinging after I left the shop, but I woke up this morning with scars on my face. I've been getting threaded for 8 years and I've never had this experience. I had just moved to New York and have been putting off getting my eyebrows threaded because I was afraid that if I go to the wrong salon, my eyebrows would be butchered to no return. As many people may feel, finding a salon for eyebrows, hair, etc. can either go very well or very wrong. New York Threading Salon is a small business, but if you spot the pink overhead and sign, it should stand out amongst its neighboring businesses! I came in at 10:30 AM, so it looked like I was one of the first customers to come in. Neelam was able to seat me immediately and even agreed to doing my upper lip as well as eyebrows. I naturally have thick eyebrows (thank you dad) so sometimes it can be difficult to find the balance between not looking too thin but not looking like a bush. Fortunately for me, she was quick and everything turned out so well! Within 10 minutes I was already done! I'm not sure of the individual price for eyebrows + upper lip, but with the combined price being $12, that was definitely a steal especially in New York! If you do decide to tip, try to do so in cash, as they are a small business and definitely deserve it! Furthermore, they have a rewards card, so after buying 8 eyebrow threadings, your 9th one will be free! Warning: if you have difficult brows don't let "Jinal" do your brows. She ruined my brows. They are completely uneven/botched. She took too much off of the top which completely changed the shape of my brows. It's so upsetting. Ugh!!! Now I have to wait months for them to grow back and have my former tech (who is awesome but not available when I needed her) fix this disaster. Words of advice to the business owner. When you have a technician who can't handle difficult brows, tell them to NOT take the client. Have a more seasoned technician take the client. That way you don't lose business or get poor ratings. I used to go to EyeSpa religiously for my brows and was heartbroken when they closed down. I've since bounced around to different salons but never really found a place in Manhattan that knew how to take care of my curly eyebrows. Well the eyebrow struggle is over. Only place I trust with my eyebrows! I try to stick with the same person though so I always have consistency. I've tried going to other places in the city and regretted it. My eyebrows had been getting thin because I kept going to other places. So I took a break from doing my eyebrows for like 3 months, came back to them and they got me right! Been coming to this same spot for ages and they are consistent in all they offer. They actually listen to your preferences and try their best to accomodate you. The space itself is not very big and they do tend to get busy especially on Fridays and Saturdays, if you can't avoid going on those days just be patient if there is a bit of a queue they usually move fairly quickly and the results are worth the wait. I got my brows threaded here yesterday for the first time. I was looking for a new place after my old salon closed. The lady who threaded my eyebrows was incredibly kind and did a great job! I have difficultly with the shape of my eyebrows because areas of them are a bit more sparse, but she created a great shape. This place will definitely be my new go to! So now instead of people looking at my brows bc they're bomb af they're looking because I have three red marks below them. I really really wanted to like this place. They were very busy so I waited an hour to get my brows done and they look good, BUT The next day I developed an infected hair follicle that lasted TWO WEEKS. It caused and fever and required antibiotics and the bump on my brow swelled to the size of a large marble. I had to see multiple medical specialists, ophthalmologist, dermatologist, etc. Something wasn't sanitary---the tweezers, her hands, scissors, even the thread. The price for nice brows may be cheap but medical bills certainly aren't. I'm now paying $200 for a complication for $7 brows. Not. Worth. It. Sometimes in New York you get what you pay for. Infections aren't worth it for even the most perfect brows. read more

You know.. This was a great place until I was greeted by a rude employee during my last visit on Sunday, July 20th. I'm placing the date here because I didn't have a chance to et the employees name. She was the only employer working that day. How do I know... Allow me to explain. I rushed over to get my eyebrows done, arrived at 6pm (they close at 6:30p), only to be told that I should have arrived earlier because she's been there since 10am. Both yelp and their window sign indicates open from 10:30am - 6:30pm. I apologized and asked if she had time to do my eyebrows. She rolls her eyes, huffs and puffs, and responds "just sit down." I sit down. She then proceeds to say, "most of our customers arrive before 6pm. You should have arrived earlier." At this point, I had enough. I informed her that perhaps she should change the open to close time if this is in fact the case. She responds stating that she had been there all day, opened early at 10am and deserved to go home. Believe me, I get it- you're tired, it's a Sunday, and probably overworked....But that isn't my fault. Perhaps you should take this up with your employer and not a loyal customer. What is sad is, I thought I found my threading place. It's convenient, the older woman who usually does my brows is super friendly and does an awesome job, and decently priced. These are the reasons for the two stars. However, I refuse to pay YOU to be scolded. Never returning again. read more

I've struggled to find someone to thread or wax my brows in way that doesn't cause me to resemble an alien (i.e., no brows). New York Threading was revelatory. I went twice during the two months I was in NYC. They never over-plucked and they did a decent job shaping my brows. Second best threading place I've ever been to. And at such low prices! Absolutely terrible service. I went there to get my eyebrows done. The other lady Neelam was not in. The lady who was did a lousy job. I used to go to another threading salon near my job. Talk about a difference in skill level. Then this idiot had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to add a tip to my credit card payment. She knew by my response that she was not going to get a tip from me. The level of arrogance this lady had to even ask shows how clueless she is.
