I wouldn't say we're "experts" but we've gotten pretty good at it. Since we're not young, kittens aren't our thing. We were looking for a couple of cats as retired as us. I realize FF is mostly a dog organization but their cattery was pretty impressive just the same. They had a lot of sad eyes, and one that crawled onto my chest and just begged to come home. Sadly our decision must be unanimous and one of us was against this one. ( Darn it ) A lot of these cats are so well behaved and just ready to relax. I wish I could adopt them all. After weeks of deliberation we finally decided on a bonded pair at which point the foster decided to keep them. I'm actually good with that. She put a lot of work into them, and now she was "mom" so yeah, I'm perfectly fine with that outcome. Our loss, but those cats already had someone who really loved them. Now I'd feel like a monster for even asking. As the weeks went on, we came to learn that a lot of agencies based on fostering never actually adopt their cats out. We talked to two other fosters and in the end, the same thing happened. Maybe those places ( I'm not talking about FF now ) just enjoy posting cats to view but not actually adopt. How sad. Anyhow, the cats at FF are available and in my opinion, probably the better cats to adopt. They just want something to eat, somewhere to sleep, and someone to pay them a little attention. What a senior cast asks is so reasonable. I hope people come up here to visit and look around.

We have worked with Alyssa for a number of months with our dachshund. From the first lesson we had clear, concise and achievable deliverables to work on with our dog. We worked on everything from simple command such as come, sit, wait all the way up to desensitization to external stimuli. Our dog is a breed that is very stubborn but Alyssa always remained positive and motivated to improve our dog's behavior and learning. We live in a very busy area with lots of other people, dogs, and noise disruptions. Each session focused on our specific needs and allowed us to see incremental improvements in the dog's progress over a long period of time. Our dog suffers from severe separation anxiety and we were given training tools, tips, as well as homework to try and develop the dog's independence and confidence so that he would be able to be at home and safe. Another session focused on retention of the dog's attention while on walks and how to keep the dog focused on us and not on the other dogs/people in the area. In addition, there was always an extremely detailed and well organized post training email that worked as meeting minutes to chronicle all of the subjects and tasks that we covered in that meeting. These emails were essential in developing trends toward our dog's improved obedience. Not only were these lessons extremely practical and understandable, but they were also fun. We felt it was extremely important to have both us and the dog see these lessons as enjoyable so that we looked forward to them each and every time. Our dog even got to recognize Alyssa's car when she would pull up and would excitedly wait at the door when she came to a new lesson. I can honestly say that without the immense subject matter expertise, professionalism, and friendliness of Alyssa and her dog training, we would not be in the place we are today with our dog. I would recommend her services for anything and everything dog related as she is an invaluable resource to the dog owner/trainer community. Long story short, I took in my mom's high-energy and undisciplined dog Jaeger, a German wirehair pointer, due to potentially dangerous behavior, like bolting out of the front door, and pulling on a leash. He didn't listen to being called back inside, so I knew it was only a matter of time before a big accident could happen. He also had little to no basic obedience. Once I took him in, we started to work on those things, but other issues arose. I found out he had some pretty significant separation anxiety that would lead to him going to the bathroom inside the house or in his kennel, and he would work himself up so much he would bark and pant all day long. As a busy parent and someone who works full time, I was afraid I didn't have enough time to really work on these issues and was starting to consider rehoming him. After all, I only wanted what was best for him and knew he needed time and consistency to become the best dog he could be. That's where Quality K9 came in! Courtney listened to all of my concerns, took a history of what commands he already knows, what I wanted him to know and made a very detailed plan week by week of what they will work on. I left Jaeger with Courtney feeling confident and comfortable that things were going to improve. After his board and train was done, what I did not expect was that he would become a whole new dog when he returned! He is amazing off leash, has a near perfect heel, and his recall is on point! He no longer bolts out the door, and he is sooo much better in a kennel! The best part is that Courtney still reaches out to me to check in on how things are going, if there's any issues and if so she's happy to keep working on them. I feel so confident in myself and I know Jaeger feels better structured now that he has some ground rules in his life. We are so happy with his results!
