Thanks to Dr Tom's stellar guidance and my OCD, our diabetic dog lived another nine active and happy years as a diabetic before passing at age 13 from cancer and not diabetes. In the 10 years since, we've adopted 5 more diabetic canine surrenders, and I got AAHA certified as a pet diabetes educator.
